I put the overall stat down to popularity.
Real Madrid showed the 18 highest-rated players from their team. Benzema being highest with 89 and rodrygo being lowest with 79. Bale isnt anywhere between those values.

Cantona's actual stats would make for a dreadful card in FIFA.
I've only seen a few clips but there should probably be a "we can only make players better by upping the pace stat"-induced lol at Puskas having 90-odd. I'm fairly sure everything I've ever read about him makes the point that he wasn't some physical beast so much as a technique/runs-the-game type guy.
Maybe they change the whole system so pace is no longer the meta. I would like to see strength and dribbling finesse useful

I seem to remember a post on here by Fry (aeons ago) talking about game design mechanics and the gist was basically: pace is the easiest thing to programme; there's a direct, linear equation to it and it's got an easily observable effect. How do you codify "technique" or "first touch"...it's much more difficult. Not that that's an excuse, but you can see why it always ends up that way.
They don't help themselves by continually fucking up heading, meaning there's only one way to play the game.
Yeah if some indy firm made a football game and OP'd pace then sure. EA have all the world's money but people will buy the game no matter why so they're literally being incentivised not to try and make the best game.they can by their own customers.
Every top tier attacker being effectively the exact same but with a different skin is just the most boring thing.

These cards are concept but the ideas are real. Lower rated flashbacks could happen.
The flashbacks are used in Madden and whilst they're a great idea the cards are almost always a bit shit.
Hopefully they implement them better here.
I haven't played Ultimate Team in years now, but seeing the icons has tempted me. How do you guys earn so much currency? Do you have to become proficient in trading, or is it grinding.

Just noticed that the Level 15 reward isn't a player in this first season, which is a bit scummy. The Level 30 rewards look ok (Lacazette, Sabitzer or Bernat)

EDIT: Right, I’m getting pissed off now. They finally sent my verification code, I log in and now it’s telling me I first need to sign into ultimate team via console first. How the fuck am I supposed to do that.
