@Pepe believes. :drool:

I think PSG will beat United but I hope it's Liverpool.
Qatar 2-0 against Japan in the AFC cup final. 33 mins gone.
He'll still be with us in spirit.
Fellainimania will never die.
The greatest month of the year.
Exactly. He's more spiritual force of nature than mere physical being.
This is where Ole becomes found out and blanc takes over.
How many binmen would you have to go through before Gary Neville got the job? Would manc sean get it before him?
'Anyone who thinks knowing the club is about knowing the club knows nothing about knowing the club.'
*quadruple*
"Fuck those scouts off going anywhere but scandinavia."
He's in Portsmouth these days if you want to update your filofax Lewis.
Southern ponce.
Get yourself down this summer we'll take a few moody little gaffs.
State of that new Avatar Monghow. I bet you still have Man Utd bed sheets.
Brighton could do with a win today. The relegation zone is starting to feel a bit less distant than it did a few weeks ago.
Spurs are showing some proper resilience of late. Shame it counted against us today. :(
Marek Hamsik off to China now too. Guaranteed he's in a Hanfu selling a brand of noodles on TV by the summer. They won't be able to resist that hairdo.
I've felt really comfortable for basically the entire season so far, but now it's just 5 points I'm starting to feel a little uneasy, particularly with the clubs below all showing some promise.
Watched Barcelona v Valencia on demand. Very good game. I think Man City and Liverpool might be better teams than Barca this season.
Lovely run and finish for Higuain's first, and the second was a peach. I wonder if he's managed to batter the doctors or it's just a case of Huddersfield being bobbins.
I think the positive is there must be quite a few winnable home games to come. Off the top of my head, Huddersfield, Cardiff, Bournemouth, Newcastle (?), Burnley (?) - probably just need a couple more wins, but it'd be nice to get them in the bag sooner rather than later.
Yep, all them to come plus Southampton. In fact, February, March and April are about as kind as it can get. We really should be staying up from here.
Great line of MOTD commentary on the Everton-Wolves game last night: "Inside the last twenty minutes, plus stoppage time for the entrance of the cat to be added."
"bruhnaldo, Lewis, Pepe, randomlegend, Shindig, Sir Andy Mahowry" with the right vote.
Best poster alive shortlist there.
That pass was a bit good.
Pogba is fucking incredible.
I might email Puel to ask where he got his V-neck, it's rather swish.
Im accusing Pogba of deliberately sabotaging his own performances under Jose
and subsequently influencing the rest of the Manchester United players as the H.N.I.C. Which resulted in Jose losing his job.
No, Jose's tactics were just stifling shite. Even under Mourinho Pogba was our best outfield player.
It was a little bit of both imho.
Also DJ Ash keeping the whole continent onsides on that free kick almost resulted in fucking disaster.
Ashley fucking Done mate. If he is there for his defensive side then Chris Smalling used to do shifts there in the early days.
United have been atrocious today but Leicester are playing against the badge so it's an easy win.
Screaming out for an equalizer come on United sort your shit out ffs
As soon as I finish hitting "post quick reply" here comes fuckin Calamity Jones.
Lukaku has been a disgrace
Not a chance, they've shat themselves anywhere near the box for the full 90.
Pogba is such a weird player, for 90% of that game he was lazy and weak, but he does 3 brilliant things including the pass for the goal (assists do not exist) and he's probably man of the match.
I only saw the last half hour but United looked properly shite and I’m not sure how Leicester didn’t score at least one.
I love the idea of Mike Dean saving his hundredth red card for a bigger ground/occasion.
After he got that knock Pogba really just fucked the game off entirely lol
Matic getting his studs into someone's thigh and not getting a 2nd yellow was exciting.
Everyone was overselling the shit out of that 'tackle', he barely touched him.
Every time I watch Arsenal play, they use a different formation.
I'm predicting an absolute hammering for Arsenal. Fully prepped to turn off 20 minutes in.
Bloody Arsenal.
Arsenal are tragic thankfully.
lol welp
Good old Arsenal
City should still win this 5-1, but good to see Arsenal tried.
Bloody Arsenal!
@randomlegend I just feel like if you get studs into a thigh that's probably a yellow regardless of impact but what do I really know
Good to see Arsenal doing their patriotic duty here and I hope we'll follow suit next weekend.
Into 5th with a grinding performance. Good result considering we were pretty lax throughout.
Benfica 3-1 up away at Sporting as well. Young lad João Felix looks a talent.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47111521
Ince is seething that he wasn't given the job.
I can't imagine Paul Ince being taken seriously in any dressing room. Even the MoTD one. He just has an awful voice.
Yeah, in descending order.Quote:
I have managed in the Premier League and all four English professional divisions
He's such a knob.
Oh Mane Mane.
That's a joke of a decision from the Lino.
I feel/fear that VAR is/was needed a few seasons ago.
Declan Rice is a knob.
I've got £5 on West Ham to win and £5 on Felipe Anderson to score.
If Liverpool throw the league again it will be absolutely glorious.
Good to see us starting the bottlejob early in order to avoid hopes being properly raised.
If any form of defending from set-pieces could happen, that'd be great.
That lino has had a stroke.
Shaqiri to grab the winner.
If we don’t win tonight I think the title is going back to City come the end of the season.
First of all, they already have the title. And, err, whoever does get it usually does so at the end of the season.
So.
Klopp hasn't got the metal. How badly did Bayern bottle it the year he won das bundesliga?
Liverpool and their lol decisions going their way.
The bottle job is fully underway.
He won it twice, once he was ahead at the winter break, the other he was behind.
It wont matter though, I think this has been Citys title since Stones stopped the ball crossing the line.
If those fuckwads had only beaten Newcastle.
The thing is, at this point - with CL kicking off again soon - it feels like all the top City players have had about half the games that the Liverpool ones have.
Keita riles me up. How many men did he beat in that last 15 minutes. Looked bobbins for the first hour. I wonder if Firmino dropping deep is ruining his career.
I like to think we did our patriotic duty out there.
You sure did. I hope our boys are using their clear midweek for a five day bender. Sarri brings the fags, Alonso drives the bus, I want them absolutely bladdered right up until Sunday.
Hazard is up to his old tricks again. Incoming press conferance announcing another press conferance where he reveals all.
https://www.skysports.com/football/n...sion-on-future
Fucking state.
There's no way around it. He looks like a clown.
How have I only just discovered that Richard Keys has a blog? Most of it has a definite whiff of this, but his latest entry, defending Graeme Souness being all confused at that woman complicating matters, contains what must be one of the all-time great asides:
It isn’t about 4-2-3-1’s. 4-4-2’s. 4-3-3’s. 4-1-2-3’s. My goodness, listening to today’s modern co-comms makes my head hurt. Within 3 minutes of a game starting they’re explaining game plans, telling us what’s going wrong - who’s ‘isolated’ and why. It’s nonsense. I’m forever grateful that I live and work in a part of the world where I can enjoy listening to the excellent Andy Townsend and Jim Beglin. They’re both quality - keeping things simple.
Before I go on, let’s get all the abuse out of the way from the keyboard cowards - who aren’t going to like much else in this column. ‘W****r’. ‘Sexist’. ‘Hairy prick’. ‘Adulterer’. And ‘disgraced’ - that one is especially for my friends at the Daily Mail. There we are. Done. Now maybe we can have a sensible debate.
That’s the thing about football - it inspires debate. We all have an opinion. We’re all allowed to have an opinion. There’s nothing better than listening to a ‘debate’ about football - or in my case - steering one. I’m so lucky that I’ve done it for an awful long time now.
Okay mate.
Brent would have cleared off for the Sand Nazi dollar as well, I bet.
It's genuinely mystifying to me why those places don't get the same rep as Saudi Arabia. Golf shat its moral pants about playing in Saudi last week, but their tour is literally named after Dubai.
They all make enough noises about reform to make people feel better about it.
I've never been to Saudi but I was in Abu Dhabi last month and it felt like any other "normal" modern city. Women walking around shopping, kids fucking about etc. I'm sure it's not great for some women living there, but from what I observed, it looked pretty relaxed.
Edit: to clarify, that doesn't excuse the shit that goes on there, just that they manage to paint a public appearance.
Sounds like my post nailed it.
More or less. Though there were also local lasses with there hair out, for what it's worth.
And they were fit.
UEFA should invite a couple of Arab nations to play at European Championships.
You're really shit at being edgy.
Now that reddit has self imploded, where does one go for streams?
Do you know discord?
If so: https://discord.gg/TqC5RsS and then all the match threads are there.
https://www.footybite.com/
Saw this on twitter. Not tried it yet.
Yeah the guys behind the reddit streams page have a discord. They’d been pushing it for a while so must have known the end was coming.
Beautiful.
All three versions of Alfredo Morelos on full display tonight. The absolute pest who won't ever give a defender a single moment's peace and who will tuck away the most difficult chance you could possibly give him, the frustrating whopper who'll miss the four easiest chances you could possibly give him, and the petulant lunatic who's liable to get sent off every time he gets within five yards of an opposition player.
I take it he still hasn’t made a”breakthrough” in the SPL? Shame if so as he looked like a player that could become great (relatively speaking of course) when at HJK.
I guess 1 in 2 isn’t that bad though for a young striker in the SPL even though Rangers are the second best now.
He absolutely has. He was the second top goalscorer in the league last season and is currently the top scorer this season. He's a brilliant player when he's on form, he's just very partial to kicking people and has an infuriating habit of scoring from the unlikeliest of positions then making a complete arse of things when he gets a proper clean cut chance.
Look up the highlights of tonight's Aberdeen vs Rangers game and you'll see the lot.
Good to hear he’s doing well then. Do you think he’s close to getting a move to a bigger league?
At his best he's a Premiership level player right now, but I can't see anyone taking him for the sort of fee we'd be looking for until he learns how to control himself. His aggression is what allows him to single handedly bully entire defences at times so you couldn't remove it from his game entirely, but he needs to stop kicking out at and stamping on people before he's ready to move up a level. He's too big a risk at the moment, but if he can control that side of his game he'll go very far indeed.
That second goal was nice.
I went from 0/3 bets coming in to 2/3.
Had City to score in each half and to have 2 or more corners in each half, City to win 2-0 or 3-0 and Aguero to score twice.
Anyone but Liverpool
He'll go in the summer, @Pen and for £12-£15m I'd say. He was terrific again last night before the red card incident around 55 minutes. That second goal is a thing of beauty, never thought he was capable of a finish like that.
He's like a mini-Suarez, barrelling through defenders and a constant nuisance. Just probably missing that extra yard of pace & a better finish.
I wouldn't be surprised if we appeal his red card either, @John. His 'stamp' on Ralston in the OF game was worse and he wasn't booked or cited for that so precedent has been set. Also, if we appeal he's available on Saturday which is a huge game.
I'm not going to call him conspiratorial, but I was talking to a scouser last night and he was pondering (going on about) why Chelsea weren't playing last night? Is there a reason they haven't caught up on the game they are going to miss due to the League Cup Final?
Surely he'd be pleased at that fact, as it gives them 8 days to rest and prepare for City this weekend?
It was more just a genuine question. I thought maybe there was a European angle, but Chelsea are still in the UEFA Cup, and they are in the FA Cup, so I couldn't work out why they wouldn't also be catching up on a game in advance. Particularity since once the Champions League fires up again it is very hard to find midweek days you are 'allowed' to play top flight games on. Are replays gone from the 5th round of the FA Cup?
Ah, I see, cheers Jimmy, makes sense.
4 goals in the Europa league this year.
He’s improving, bless him.
Messi's not just on another level on the pitch but off it too. The highest earners in Spain:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dy4JHFgWsAIMeYz.jpg
Bottom of the tax paid one though, bizarrely.
Messi's post playing career will be interesting. I reckon grubby mouthpiece for dictators is the most likely route.
Barcelona really list the plot over Coutinho didn't they.
What is that, monthly? Quarterly? Or is that just what they declare as salary?
This goes some way to explaining it though.
You forget how absolutely phenomenal him and Ronaldo are. Better than a goal a game and if you include assists, contributing 1.6 goals a game total. Just mental. Remember when we considered strikers good if they had a 1 in 2 record?
Has he won the Champions League since Xavi moved to the oil lands?
It's going to be a little hollow without them, if I'm honest.
Some poor souls will be in tears after that Aston Villa comeback. Absolutely brilliant.
Pray 4 Hammer
I'm in a pub surrounded by bluenoses. Only Villa fan. They were unbearable and I've gone x10. Fanfuckintastic.
Other side of town to me that. I'm from Longbridge way, but now live in Solihull. Well posh.
Pronounced Sow-Lee-Hull, motherfucker.
The Birmingham Posh-test is whether they end 'bus' with a z or an s.
If you can afford to get on the buz you're posh in my book.
Big Liverpool win today, back top, Chelsea to take something off City. I’m ready!
No Brooks, Wilson, Fraser or Clyne.
Cue a 0-0 barnstormer.
I've had a night out in Solihull before. If that's posh then I'm His Excellency the God-Emperor, Lord of Land and Sea.
I was also in Solihull during that same period. My parents were buying toilets.
Llamas in basements, banter with mates down the pub about dead footballers and now wild nights out in Solihull. I don't feel like I know Jim anymore.
Playing with fire here using Smalling and Jones.
Great hit but the keeper shouldn't be letting that in.
That was fucking class by Martial.
I didn't know Fulham were this bad.
That 'Ice cold. Black gloves' lad will be having a fit.
Fulham's director of football is called 'Tony Khan' and combines his job with a similar role in pretzelball and running his own wrestling company, so yeah.
I would bring the Michael Jackson statue back for the relegation run-in.
We have a habit of tackling by simply dangling a limp leg at the football and hoping that's enough to win it back. Odoi is fucking woeful and has been all season, yet STILL gets a game, and he's so petrified at making a challenge he is happy to simply back pedal constantly and allow any opposition winger to get to the edge of the penalty area.
I've obviously seen a lot less of him than you, but in every Fulham game I've seen this year Odoi has stood out as not even being a Championship player. He's clearly just got to a certain level in Belgium, had a half decent agent and here he somehow is. He did it again just then, just disppearing backwards and letting Martial into easy shooting position.
As soon as we're on the back foot, Odoi really is awful. The only reason he could keep a first team spot down last season was because we'd dominate games and his confidence passing and keeping the ball at the back was important to how Jokanovic set us up and how we played. He'll have cult hero status at Fulham because of his header in the play-off semis, but he shouldn't be anywhere near the matchday squad.
Every game he's good for a costly mistake, but we really don't have a replacement for right-back. And that's where Tony Khan comes in. Our other right back options are Fosu-Mensah (on loan from United, but still fairly shit, no positioning sense whatsoever), or Cyrus fucking Christie (injured today, and also rubbish, but has a little more skill going forwards). We do not have a defence fit to stay in the league.
The whole approach has been weird. They went up last season thanks to an expansive approach in which they would basically score so many goals that it nullified the defensive weakness. The logical approach to that in the PL would have been to keep the attacking approach and supplement with a couple of better individuals at the back, but instead they bought even more attackers (most of whom are worse than the old ones), sacked the attacking manager when they had a dodgy start, brought in a defensive manager, and then didn't buy him any defenders either.
Odoi couldn't defend in the Championship, so it's no surprise he's a massive liability in the Premier League.
Big Dom Solanke to score today.
Everyone deliberately not passing to Lukaku is a bit mean.
What a way to end the day for Babel.
Sanchez really has had it. Probably the quickest downturn since Torres.
He seems like the sort who would go to China if the money was right, so hopefully Fellaini is out there making some moves.
Mourinho this season in the league P 17, W7, D5, L5
Solskjaer P9, W8, D1.
11 points off top now. Could still make a title charge.
Oh Mane Mane
Alan Browne, goal machine
Salah is such a selfish twat.
Solihull also has EXCELLENT charity shops. Since about 2008, places tend to either be full of absolute shit because people are too poor to donate anything decent, or they're in hipster uni cities with volunteers who overprice everything. Solihull is still in the sweet spot of good but cheap.
Cardiff are going to pull this off. Wankers.
Birmingham were 4-0 up and they're hanging on now at 4-3.
QPR just had a penalty saved ffs.
Could and likely should have hit Bournemouth for about 10 there. Keita looks much improved with Gini back next to him. He seems to be the glue of the midfield.
If we can get Gomez, Lovren and Trent back fully fit before the end of the month, that'd be a big boost.
Klopp said that about the Ox but he's back in the Champions League squad. I hope he's lying as I'm not sure which poison out of Matip and Lovren I prefer.
Gomez is 4-6 weeks so he's going to be back around the same time that Chamberlain is (ie end of March).
What the fuck is a Gini and why must grown men with jobs persist with this?
We’re about to take over Scottish football with our American investors. USA USA USA
Everton are away to be in a relegation scrap. Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal their next four home games and they don’t win away from home.
Nah, they've got the points on the board. It's more likely to be a pissing match between us, Brighton, Southampton and Maybe Cardiff for 18th.
Yeah, it's starting to get uncomfortable down there (oo er). Could really have done with beating the not-racists tonight.
See Paul Scholes is the new Oldham boss. Can't see that going well, bit of a crack-pot club nowadays it seems.
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide...
No. A Liverpool fan stampede
Not yet.
Just https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BtCsEjzAXY
And the 'Merry Christmas Everton' song. Get your Radio Gaga one wrote and get that fan from Cork to do it.
He was a wannabe comedian trying to push a bit of business.
I'm just a poor boy,
Been forced to claim UC.
Spanish football really is horrible to watch. When will they realise that excessive VAR use isn't because of bad ref's, it's because all the players are cheating, diving, whining, mardy fuckers.
The Huddersfield manager is so German he referred to us as 'Arsenal London' in the post-match interview.
Quality stuff in the Norwich game with the fracas there. Hopefully it kicks off again.
Leicester aren’t far off a cracking team. No idea why you’d start Gray over Vardy up front though. You’re just asking him to do essentially what Vardy does best.
3 strikers on the bench and none starting for Leicester.
Vardy
Leicester don't deserve Puel.
Hudson Odoi bombed out completely once again now transfer window is over. Shambles.
Barkley somehow starting too.
come on Leicester let's have a draw
Why would you want Leicester to snatch it? Spurs winning the league is the only palatable option left.
United have a better chance than Spurs do.
Nah not with Son on the run.
@Kiko I like Utd to turn over the gap to Spurs much, much more than them the gap above them... considering their injury issues, "it's Tottenham, mate", etc. etc.
City winning is the only realistic outcome that doesn't involve Liverpool winning it and I've come to accept this. At least then I can say "well if we spent 200m on wing backs we'd probably win too!" over and over.
Yeah, you can just write anything City win off as human rights abuse. And they have already won a few titles. If Liverpool won it it would command a certain amount of respect.
Get your spurs bedsheets on and stfu.
Nothing is less palatable than Spurs winning the league.
A worldwide outbreak of ebola is more palatable than Liverpool winning it.
The only way Tottenham winning it works is if Smallpockets walks out on them straight afterwards, preferably having deliberately not celebrated them doing so like when Mourinho made the 2010 Champions League final all about him, and it all falls to bits in their new stadium. But seeing as I reckon he is odds on to BOTTLE the United job we can do without that.
Alonso :D
Only good at scoring goals and killing folk.
Boo.
I have money on Aguero to score in the first 15 minutes, why couldn't it fall to him?
How the fuck?
Aguero missing that has me fearful the world is coming to an end.
https://i.imgur.com/AyAqS8t.png
I'll take that though.
Spot me 5 my boy we're practically brothers you know
Chelsea don’t want to make it too obvious they’re lying down.
Alonso :D
He's so bad.
Barkley is stunning.
Tear in the eye stuff here boys, I'm so proud of you.
Amazing.
Did I just see Barkley head Aguero through on goal?
This is amazing. Surely he doesn’t survive.
They could hit double figures if they want.
I've also got money on De Bruyne to score a goal so hopefully he gets in on the action.
I almost stuck money on a draw, dodged a bullet!
8 goals anyone?
Hazard will surely be on to his agent at half time.
You can get 1.72 on City to win the league cup. That's a 72% increase to your net worth.
Jesper Gronkjaer and whoever their club-knowing, Mike Phelan equivalent is (that borderline retard physio who Soccer AM used to love) in by Monday.
Call for Sir Jonathan Terrington.
Bring in Michael Emenalo or the fat guy with the red face.
Mourinho.
Nor him being played as a centre forward.
Wonder what odds I'll get for Malmö to knock out Chelsea.
How many points ahead of United were Chelsea and Arsenal when Solskjaer took over? Some serious capitulation over the last few months.
Think it was about 11-14.
That’s why I love him
BOTTLED his entire life choosing Chelsea in the first place.
We need an NBA style episode of The Decision. Where we find out who he chooses to join next.
I think he’ll go to Madrid. He can just saunter about past players with ease without needing to put any effort in. He’ll still go down as a Chelsea legend with the two league titles and however many cup final wins.
That Rhodri Giggs advert really is amazing.
And the tv version is watered down.
Braga up to second in Portugal as well. Would be pretty cool if they got into the Champions League with that stadium.
That flair penalty point by Mike Dean was amazing.
Not shaking Pep's hand :D
Amazing.
If Liverpool drop points at Old Trafford it's done.
Wouldn't a point still have them top? Would be hard to say they were done if they were still, you know, top of the league.
It would be easy enough, it’s Liverpool
Yeah, but you don't need them to fail to win a game for that.
I've never seen more hyperbole about a title race. Going off here (and people in general) Liverpool have won it and then lost it a dozen times since mid-December. In reality it will probably be decided mid- to late-April.
As much as Sarri is a rubbish coach, I don't really blame him for everything. We are run completely incompetently by the Russian mafia so it's a miracle we're at all competitive really.
Liverpool have to play Everton and United away, with Spurs and Chelsea at home. I'd say it's going to be tough unless some injuries hit City.
Aye, Chelsea at home, shit your pants, obvious connotations notwithstanding (it's the same day isn't it)?
The Spuds could still go and win at both Anfield and the murderbowl and win the whole thing. Arf. Although I remember thinking the same years ago when they had a tough run in and they won at City and somewhere else to steal into the top 4.
"Only team across the top 5 leagues to not change their formation once"
What a fun fact.
You look at it now and there are 12 games to go. In simple terms, Liverpool need to be looking at winning 10 of those 12(I don't believe anyone drops 0 points from here). Spurs in all honesty need to win every game. I could see one of these 2 blowing a 5 point lead, but not both.
The only thing that may get City is themselves. They're on for a quadruple and I feel they have a very good chance of getting it. A deep run into the Champions League and FA Cup could hurt them fitness wise. I feel it's theirs to lose though. They've hit top form at the right time and look invincible.
19 clubs is some going by Sarri.
Benfica just hit TEN v Nacional.
I think they should try to treat both competitions the same. Banking everything on the league is more likely to result in too many nerves and an eventual breakdown, I reckon.
Yesterday was one of the crappest days at the Amex. We're on a horrible run - one win in 11 league games. Could do with Cardiff going back to being absolute pants.
He'll do his hamstring in less than 6 months.
Another thing that Wenger was roundly mocked for but got spot on was the increasing use of Bosmans by players.
400k, fucking hell.
That must be some sort of accounting/tax scam relating to a smaller signing on fee.
It's just him getting the transfer fee and not Arsenal.
That's how I've always figured it anyway. I'm sure Jimmy has said this before, but it is the way things are going to go with any semi-sensible players. Run your contract down and cash-in (unless you can cash in at your existing club via the threat).
Juve pay Can a (relatively) insane amount as well.
That's a lot of Jeeps. Hope he does well but I've never really seen him as top tier. Has his moments (usually in cup finals) but he's like a more useful Wilshere.
I just can't imagine Juve being so desperate for Aaron Ramsey to pay him 400k with or without the transfer fee.
I realize this is their niche but damn.
They'll probably loan him to Bayern in a year, then you'll know there's definitely something suss afoot.
Actually looking forward to the Utd game tomorrow. Feels good man.
No Cavani or Neymar, if they can just find a way to not get annihilated by Mbappe on the counter . . .
PSG going out would be glorious.
di Maria to have a masterclass and ruin my life.
His most influential role would probably be a reprise of the Nani incident.
An overenthusiastic Rashford as the perpetrator.
United will win tomorrow unless Lukaku starts.
Italian clubs in particular love the certainty of a known performer, even if they aren't spectacular, mercurial talents. If you're Juve (or previously Milan) you're like the Yankees, you don't need to get involved in this 'value' stuff, you pay the big bucks for the reliable known quantities that are available.
If you're Arsenal, you're 6th and you have asset-stripping Americans in charge then it's not worth trying to compete with what a set giant can pay him.
Dire Maria wont do shit to us.
When he scores.
De Gea will be the difference.
Best possible cup draw. Back to Hampden to lose again
Also, Everton 6 points off relegation if the teams win their game in hand. They’ll pick up 3 or 4 points max in their next 6 too.
I get this, and obviously 'contract negotiations' went quite quickly down the 'lol u wot mate?' route when Rambo's agent bowled in with his wage demands, but I don't really see what Juve get out of it. OK, maybe they figure there's no real point in trying to nobble the local market as all their rivals are wank (careful though, mess with a proven formula and things can go wrong - see Bayern [I have no idea if they have bought anyone off a Bundesliga rival of late]), but why not just blow an £80m hole in the budget to scoop up those young Italians everyone is going on about (Tonali and some midfielder from the south?).
Speaking of Italian wonderkids, what's the situation with that next Messi one who went to Monaco was it? The Genoa kid? Going by off how well Monaco are doing, not well would be my guess. And, whilst we're on the subject, Odegard? Maybe that answers point A. I still reckon buy a £40m midfielder and pay him £200k a week is better than giving Ramsay that money.
Odegaard was about 9 when he went to Madrid wasn't he? Last I heard he was doing decently but not broken through yet.
Pellegri is still only 17 and currently injured according the t'internet. Monaco were absolute shit under Henry, idk if they've picked up since their old manager came back.
I mean, they're probably buying Ramsey to strengthen their squad for Europe. Not that their midfield is bad but maybe Ramsey gives them a little bit more guile. Also, Khedira's only 31. He's been around forever.
Fuck sake. Twice in a season. Same fucking minute. Same opposition. :moop:
Wolves played awful. Newcastle deserved the win but Big Wily Boly with the late minute leveler.
Ramsey negoatiting that deal is fucking amazing and is an eye-opener on how mad football has became.
Plenty of six pointers in the next month. Can't help thinking Brighton or Newcastle will go down.
How did Almiron look for Newcastle?
We were allmirin.
I hate this fucking website so much.
They get approx 4-5 prime years of a known good midfielder. The one thing I would be slightly concerned about is his injury record, but when fit he is perfectly competent, probably even 'dynamic' once you put him into the Italian game. I don't know Italian football well but I would imagine there isn't a comparable player they can gobble up from Napoli or wherever else they source their players. Juve aren't too bothered about buying to speculate, they take the finished product.
He is also a nice way into the anglophone market and its all-important dollars, looks good on a billboard, and also the historical Welsh connection is on-brand for them.
He's good in a "well, we have to have some Home Grown players" sense, but what does an Italian team get out of this transfer that they couldn't get out of signing any Spanish Midfielder?
The John Charles angle.
I like it.
I reckon Ramsey will do really well there.
We're playing against Paris Saint Germain tonight. COME ON.
José Mourinho to host own football show on Russian network RT
That should be a bit lol.
I watched an Jose interview the other day and Jose claimed Chelsea are stuggling because Sarri needs to give his crative players more freedom.
Troll Master
Barella is the Cagliari midfielder @niko_cee is talking about. Excellent player but would be £30m - £40m. He's 22 but only really had 2-3 seasons at Cagliari so would represent a risk given this version of Juve don't really buy potential.
In terms of other players, none really stick out. Juve's struggles are someone from central midfield who can get forward and score/be creative. Khedira & Emre Can both played (and scored!) at the weekend but that's very much a rarity. Inter don't really have one, neither do Napoli or Milan. Roma have Zaniolo but he's only just joined them and is tearing it up - would again be a risk for the money they would ask for.
It's just such a Juve signing, he'll come in and do really well I think and you're right they don't particularly care about resale value. A midfield 3 of Pjanic, Matuidi and a good version of Ramsey does look pretty good on paper.
It's going to be incredible seeing Ashley Young don Dire Maria.
Reddit soccerstreams down. Can anybody inbox a decent site for AceStream links?
If you can VPN it's live on telly here.
https://www.rte.ie/player/
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccerstreams69/
They added a 69, lolololol.
Cheers, guys. The soccerstreams_pl was down so I thought everything was fucked again, but there's always an alternative.
Pogba made Kimpembe look like a right mug.
Shame he didn't cut it back though.
There's a Discord thing (server?) where all the people from soccerstreams post their stuff. If you want an invite PM me with instructions on how to invite people.
Julian Draxler has the most German face.
And the manager looks like a concentration camp doctor.
Mbappe is ridiculously fast :|
Dire Maria :harold:
I know he was offside but that attempted finish, lol.
I'm going to claim that a donning.
Nice one Ashley.
Ref's bottled the fuck out of that.
From the card count alone, can I guess the ref is Spanish?
Yeah Young should have been off there.
Then again Kimbempe should have had a second yellow for the one of Shaw, so swings and roundabouts.
There will be a sending off here tonight. Young or Kimpembe would see like the likeliest to go.
Wouldn’t have thought a year ago that I’d be so displeased to see Sanchez come in for Lingard.
PSG can take this if they want.
Lingard and Martial going off injured, oof.
Definite lack of options with Fellaini gone.
Ref really doesn't want to send off Kimpembe.
That must be the first time in about a decade I've seen a goal kick called back to be retaken.
That was a stone wall second yellow for Kimbempe there, what the fuck is this ref doing.
Of course Kimpembe scores.
As irritating as it is Kimbempe scoring when he should be off, PSG have been the better side.
di Maria screaming at the stand to fuck off to a bunch of people who quite literally tried to CHEER HIM INTO FORM is pathetic
Balls.
Ace!
I wish Jordan made Liverpool stuff.
This guy with the assists is good.
Monghow is having a good night.
Mbappe cut through United like butter then
Mbappe’s has the touch of Lukaku tonight.
Love to see United like this. Hopefully this stokes a resurgence of failure in the league
Stevie Macca just made me laugh. The shame!
I miss it when Ashley Young could actually deliver a decent ball.
He should have studied Di Maria while he had the chance really
Luke Shaw is rubbish.
Seething :D
Superseething :D
I'm fucking seething tbh.
PSG were already the better team, but Lingard and Martial having to go off absolutely ended our chances tonight.
Ah well.
You're surprised that Phil is a mong?
And there's the bet dead with that sub :(
Well we're fucked with no Pogba next leg.
No idea what they’re complaining about. Awful challenge.
That is a card, but you can bet your life that he wouldn't have given it half an hour ago.
Yeah it was a deserved second yellow.
Also, 'Alexis' needs to fuck off to Asia.
So disappointing. With Pogba out for the second leg the tie is all over now.
We're just not good enough and it's fucking upsetting.
Verratti is a fantastic footballer.
PSG are a class team so no shame. They've spent a wealth of money for years and it shows. Very good performance.
Matic was very good for us.
Alright Jose.
Fuck off, we've got to move Mezut on first.
edit: By the by, an in-form United getting shut-down by a PSG team who are poor away from home and missing players is why OGS won't get the job.
Why were there 2 subs at half time by the way? Injury to Martial/Lingard?
What's wrong with Sanchez anyway? He can't still be tired from the world cup.
We were in trouble as soon as we lost Martial and Lingard. We have a real lack of depth, and that showed against Burnley. I worry about the next month, especially now we've presumably got two players out with injury. A real test for Ole.
With that first defeat out of the way, Sam Binman can finally leap home.
If the other five were against French teams then that counts as one.
Polish Chelsea fan at work: United loss haha
Me: So we won't talk about Sunday then?
Polish Chelsea fan at work: *goes quiet suddenly*
:sherlock:
Great banter.
So he didn't in fact talk about sunday.
You got played, son.
Quite remarkable, when you think about it, that two different football teams lost matches within days of each other.
It's ironic, really.
This is the next generations 9/11.
These are some proper legends
https://talksport.com/football/49369...nouncer-prank/
Declan Rice has decided he's English.
Pussy
Whatever happened to Grealish?
I feel like you guys have one of these every other year. Januzaj may have been longer ago than I recall, though.
Finally. Thought he was going to do a LeBron James at this stage.
Hopefully Nathan Redmond has the same idea.
.
Giggles will be happy.
They poached Andy Townsend and Tony Cascarino from us, so it's only fair.
That shouldn't have been ruled out.
Ajax were robbed.
I'm glad I switched, this Ajax/Madrid game is much better.
Ajax are all over Real.
Winks is so useless. He's always trying to be a Xavi type but he's never been able to pass the ball
Smallpockets IN.
Pulisic to Chelsea for the 50-60 million he went for is fucking funny
They've bossed it here.
Madrid make it 2-1 after a clear foul in the middle of the field.
Spurs' player of the season mate. Hnnnngggg
Son is probably player of the year. Bit of a weird year. Van Dijk? Aguero? Tielemans?
Sergio Aguero will win it but it is hardly a vintage year.
They’ve probably already voted. The dream is Van Dijk before a mega blunder late April but he’s actually too good.
Bilva.
Andy Robertson should be on the shortlist. Has a full back ever been on it?
Ashley Cole probably was at some point.
Spurs.
Fuck knows what they were at in the first half, but have some of that vorsprung ducht football.
I've said it before, but I love Son. He's so good.
Mourinho pay-off confirmed on Uniteds books. 19.6 million quid.
Best 19.6m spent this winter in world football.
Mourinho wouldn't have lost 2-0 to a Neymar-less and Cavani-less PSG.
There's nothing in the other big-game performances this season when he was there to suggest we'd have done much if any better.
Gareth Bale is facing a 12 match ban for this celebration:
lol.
I don't get what he even was doing?
Hudson Odoi benched again lmaooo. Willian or Pedro will still start on Sunday too.
I read the other day that Bareth Gale doesn't speak any Spanish. I mean really mate you've been there five years. You would pick stuff up without even trying to.
Oh right. He does come across as being dense even by footballer standards so you can see how people were taken in.
Apparently Antonio Valencia can't speak any English.
Arsenal should be doing better against BATE here, but really they are getting a bit mugged. The pitch is basically a ditch, and the referee seems to give BATE everything.
Some players and people are just not good at languages. Ive seen A.Valencia interviews in ebglish. It is understandable. Aguero and Tevez both have limit english despite being in the country for about 10 years.
Clinton Morrison barely speaks english, and they employ him on Sky.
Arsene Wenger lived here for donkeys and still sounded like he's just got off the Ferry from Calais.
I would be mad but I literally don’t understand this team. They were the far better team in the first half and did absolutely nothing in the second. Which is the opposite of what they’ve done all year. The team lacks so Minch identity.
Joe Cole looks like he's been on a ketamine bender for the past three days.
This guy who scored is even redder than De Bruyne.
May as well have had a full schedule of Premier League fixtures this weekend.
They've really fucked the cup with these kick-off times. You shouldn't be fannying about with Friday and Monday games once it gets down to the last 16, you need at least 4 kicking off at 3pm on Saturday to make it seem more relevant than your local non-league team.
I was going to say earlier that all the ties this round are pretty shit/boring.
It seems that everyone felt the same as it's been dead in here.
Didn't see the Newport goal clearly enough to know if it was chip or a lob but I'll chuck it a
I think he was just trying to get to the ball ahead of Otamendi and accidentally toe-poked a sublime chip. Or lob. What's the difference? Is one a volleyed form of the other?
Paddy Amond
A chip is when you cut under the ball with your foot. A lob is when the ball goes over the keeper. That's how I've always thought of it. I get slightly annoyed when people refer to any old lob as a 'chip'.
Nani.
I've been sitting here trying to work out whether United being owned by the Saudi Arabians would be acceptable if they sold Romelu Lukaku. I think yes.
From a purely footballing perspective I'm sure it'd be amazing, but being owned by a mob even worse than Man City or PSG would be pretty rank.
Yea but maybe the journos would stop making up so many ridiculous transfer stories.
Ya know, for fear of their lives and such.
Killing people involved in your positive PR exercise would rather defeat the object.
The headlines for when he sacks a manager write themselves though.
"Solskjaer IN PIECES"
https://www.spurs-web.com/wp-content...02/jGtBwYN.jpg
Tottenham are exellent.
John Obi Mikel is 31 years old despite having been playing for what feels like the last thousand years.
No one would give a flying fuck, realistically.
Not that chucking an unlimited amount of money at it is necessarily going to solve anything.
I'd care which is enough for me.
Loss of enthusiasm, ahem, is just something that comes with getting older.
They'd all just pretend to care about FC United for another 6 months.
Who would? I'm interested in understanding more about United's fan base.
The same lot that did last time. Mostly Manc Sean and his Ostrich nutting mates.
It's all pretty rancid. Fuck them. I've been going Solihull (Sowleehull) Moors recently and it's a million times better. Plus they actually win occasionally and are top of the Conference. Proper glory hunter.
It's amazing that so many people think that Abramovich still gives a shit. I think it was on the Ramble where they suggested he'd fallen in love with the Napoli side hence hiring Sarri, I doubt he'd even fucking seen a minute of them.
I don’t get why Romero is starting. This is the only trophy United could bring home this season.
I wouldn't worry about it.
Sarri on the ropes?
I’ve noticed. I think most teams switch back to their ‘league’ keeper (urgh) if they get to the final. Just feels idiotic as there’s a bit of a difference between first and second choice keeper at United. It’s not like you wheeled out Hilario for this.
What is Romero even doing at United (as number 2)? Always looked a very good keeper. Not exactly Raimond van der Gouw.
Keeping Lee Grant out of the team. I guess it’s that and making a killing without much bother.
They're just kicking us up in the air so far, only way to play against the chin-stroking might of Sarriball.
While I'm at it, the United away support needs to be put in a bin. Bunch of dinosaurs.
That month when DDG wasn't playing because he was gonna go to Madrid he was much maligned (though if I'm honest I can't recall any specific howlers).
Maybe he just lacks confidence and thinks he's better off being the rotational keeper at United than going somewhere where he can get "FOUND OUT!" and replaced but without all of the cool perks.
I appreciate he doesn't really know the club yet, but Diogo Dalot must be a better bet than Ashley Young now.
They'll start singing the 12 days of Eric Cantona in a minute.
Stunning
Sarri should be sacked on the spot if he manages to lose to Man Utd at home. Lol at Alonso once again.
The genius still hasn't worked out that having the non-defending Jorginho at the back of midfield makes us woefully vulnerable to that type of goal. So much space.
Right, get another defender on.
The irony is that Morata would have buried that headed chance that Higuain had earlier.
'Juan Matic'. He would be some footballer, walking through the entire opposition.
I don't normally like to slate pundits/commentators these days, but Martin Keown (if that is who this is) is a properly witless sack of shit. Why can't they employ literally anyone else? Is having a former BIG NAME mandatory? Although they don't apply that rule to Kevin Kilbane, so I have no explanation.
It's who you know, Jimmy. Always has been.
Why can't Mark Lawrenson do these games?
Man Utd were 3/1. Unreal scenes
Dear me, Jorginho's 'challenge' on the first ball there, somebody please twist his melon until decapitated.
Sarri is probably the worst manager we've had in my lifetime. Even the functioning alcoholic 'AVB' attempted to change things.
lol
This Chelsea keeper really isn’t very good. Not a clown who chucks one in every game bad, he just isn’t that good at making saves.
Stick to banking, Sarri. Actually, don't. All Italian accountants end up dead to the mob.
I think there have been quite a few different bin men over the years and somehow United only win there once a decade or something.
Edit: so the odds don’t feel so outrageous. Hopefully you got something on it though 👍
What will his excuse at half time be?
On the plus side, for the first time in his punditry career Hasselbaink has somebody sat next to him who talks even more mindless shit than he does.
Surely 'Big Phil' (and his Big Tactics) was worse given that he had much, much better players.
I want to know how he got such good results with Napoli, as all I've seen at Chelsea (in detail) suggests he literally doesn't have the first clue what he's doing as a football coach. Is Italy an even easier league than I think it is, or does the slow Mediterranean style play into his hands?
Barkley and Willian the first two subs no doubt.
Matic's fouls are a bit :D
I can't wait for when Ross Barkley replaces Kovacic on about 72 minutes.
What's most baffling about Chelsea at the moment is it's genuinely impossible to tell who's good and who's shit. In a team where Kante looks like a haphazard mong all bets are off.
What happened the Christensen lad? Is he a sub because it's a cup game or does that other clown normally play ahead of him?
If Hazard isn't having an absolute stormer then Chelsea aren't winning. There's nothing else really going on.
Really bugging me I can’t get it in my head who Matic looks like. I’m looking for an actor or a singer. I was meaning to ask the same during tge PSG game too. Help me out lads.
Edit: some american cop show is the answer here, I’m pretty sure.
Sarri’s mismanagement of the Fucking Lovely Kante should be a sackable offence. Just classic tactical clever clever overthinking bollocks
I'm starting to think those dice rolling twins from Luther were actually triplets.
@ Pen
There you go. He’s such a fucking mong. Ross Barkley to the rescue.
‘Fuck Sarriball’ lol. Has anyone sacked someone a week before a Cup Final?
We get what we deserve for 10 unimaginative hirings in a row (about 3 have worked out short term).
Next up should be Nuno from Wolves, but a) he hasn't won the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATE and b) he probably sees Wolves as a more enticing job at this point.
Super Frank, Super Frankie Lampard?
Bring back Rafa.
Zappacosta :D
Stevie G and Chelsea, together at last.
What about the SACKED one?
Mourinho can fit it in, when he’s not doing his TV show
Commentator sounding surprised that his three changes have been like for like. Every substitution this season has been like for like, mate.
That's one of the most pointless substitutions ever made.
Since Christmas:
Man Utd: Barkley > Kovacic 71'
Man City: Kovacic > Barkley 58'
Spurs: Barkley > Kovacic 81'
Arsenal: Kovacic > Barkley 63'
Newcastle: Kovacic > Barkley 63'
Spurs: Barkley > Kovacic 75'
Palace: Barkley > Kovacic 88'
Watford: Kovacic > Barkley 80
Hahahahahhaahha
Assume so, Bet365’s account posted it.
I was literally just going to look that up. There will be a good Willian/Pedro equivalent as well.
Is Chelsea passing it from the edge of the United box back down the pitch to their own keeper around the 86th minute their normal style of play now?
I haven't seen much of them this season so just wondering if that's what Jim means by Sarriball.
Hazard's SEETHING.
Pretty much. Teams clocked on to the fact Jorginho is very shite and it’s been downhill since.
Is Drogba doing much at the moment?
Fucking about with power cables in Africa, isn't he?
In before we get Man City :baz:
Respect.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...es-season.html
@Jimmy Floyd
I know it’s DM but I saw it on Reddit the other day
Matic is Michael Keaton with hair.
He looks nothing like him. :D
https://goo.gl/images/sa3nvs
It’s all in the grin.
They have some sort of code of conduct spirit of the game thing they all signed up to and apparently it falls foul of that.
Chelsea were genuinely woeful there. Bringing on Zappacosta is presumably Sarri trying to get sacked. They should do it even if they somehow win against City next week (which they won't). At least Zola can be told to play Hudson-Odoi for the rest of the season in an attempt to stop him joining the summer exodus.
Why not just play Kanté and Jorginho as defensive midfielders with someone else (Hazard) as a 10? They just don't have enough attacking players on the pitch ever, and some idiot at leftback really doesn't count.
Kevin Kilbane is on more things than Alex Scott and you only see/hear about 30-40% of it. He must live in fucking airports.
Millwall must fancy their chances.
Obligatory "i would" post re: Alex Scott
14 times for the Pedro/Willian substitute.
Is it even that hard to be a manager at a club like Chelsea? Just play players where they, errr, play, and you win most matches anyway.
Was looking up when and where the final is this year yesterday (not for any reason other than seeing if the ticket ballot had happened yet), so we're bound to get a bumming tonight.
Added to the fact that in my mind Bayern are a bit shit it doesn't bode well.
3-1 tonight, don’t worry
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Keita, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
Subs: Mignolet, Milner, Sturridge, Moreno, Lallana, Shaqiri, Origi.
Funny choice to pick Keita over Milner in a game like this I reckon, but what do I know.
Should be 2-0 down already here. Matip continues to make me see why he was free.
Why is Rodriguez getting booed so much?
Is he?
Both sides look more of a danger to themselves than to the other side, although Liverpool should probably have converted at least one of those half chances.
Definitely getting to grips with them in open play now, but I expect a goal to come from a Bayern corner from before long. Henderson is doing well bailing people out but they look a little lost without Virgil at the back.
Yeah, corners look ropey as fuck. Although I always think that. It's a permanent mental scar.
Has Keita scored yet this season? It really feels like it's never going to happen. This game is like pinball.
If this ends goalless, who are favourites to go through here?
4-4 in the second leg, Sly Stallone to save a penalty.
I hope Hans Jorg Butt won’t see his saved.
I think we’ll score over there.
I suppose Bayern, but they look dreadful (maybe Liverpool not much better). Don't see much to fear in them really, but then Liverpool's away record in Europe this season isn't up to much.
All part of the plan anyway, right?
Have there actually been any other notable keepers in Europe who were penalty takers? Can’t think of any off the top of my head.
Bayern attempted some sort of weird Catenaccio that whole game mind you. I reckon they'll muster a bit more at home.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ng_goalkeepers
Seems to be mainly a South American thing, like mate and bestiality.
i think sarri looks a bit like louis litt from suits
I don't care if his career lasted 25 years. Rodrigo Ceni, take a bow. 61 free kicks and 131 goals total is just ridiculous.
For clarity, the tied for 3rd highest free kick scorer in Premiere League history is Sebastien Larsson with 11 over the course of 9 years. You'd literally have to double the amount of free kicks he scored every year and have him play for 26 years to equal Ceni.
Beckham scored 65 in 20 years.
There must be a montage somewhere of teams scoring on the counter after he scuffed it into their wall.
I definitely remember Hans-Jorg Butt celebrating so long they restarted and scored once or twice.
Mitigating factors are that Rogerio played loads of games in the shithouse state championship to amass that tally as well as the national league, and also in South America if anyone goes near the number ten it's an automatic foul so you probably get way more free kicks given in those positions (it's no coincidence that it was them who came up with the disappearing spray for referees).
They do love a disappearance.
Answers on a postcard as to how city are going to line up.
That's definitely a penalty, although I was almost as certain that Bentaleb would miss it.
Giving away a penalty is pretty much a default yellow though, which is a stupid 'rule' but it's almost universally applied.
Second one was even funnier. I don't know if VAR gives that if the ref doesn't.
Could do without City ballsing Europe up again to focus on the League.
I think handballs like that one for the first penalty should be red cards. I don't see how intent should play into any of this if the effect is exactly the same as, for instance, the deliberate Suarez shitshow in 2010. You'll still send someone off for accidentally elbowing someone in the face and breaking their jaw, you know. Or for a fair attempt at a tackle that misses the ball and breaks Aaron Ramsey's leg.
I'm not sure you can say that prevented a certain goal.
Also, there's a slight conceptual difference between breaking someones jaw/leg and preventing a goal :cab:
Morelos with 4 goals today for Rangers 😎
Edit: Had forgotten Kamara had moved there too. Hope they win something domestically.
The difference is that you hurt other people breaking their bones.
It's sort of like the difference between not paying your taxes and shooting someone.
Although, in terms of the rules of the game, deliberately preventing a goal by foul means is more of a red card than an injury inflicting action (which can be accidental or innocuous).
VAR going mad tonight.
Sort it out City. Maybe we could start a website?
That's outrageous from Sane, but the commentator needs to calm down with his NARRATIVE shit. He's behaving like Sane is the first player ever to score against a former club.
Juve
:harold:
Insane freekick. So clever.
Never seen Sane even hit a free kick either.
Schalke's defending is suicidal.
Well, whats the pecking order based on then? Haven't ever seen De Bruyne or Silva score one I think.
Seniority.
It's why Ronaldo has been allowed to spaff them into the crowd forever.
In other news:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/47309681
:D
*Something about his finishing going missing as well.*
Is it me or does it always happen on a Champions' League night?
Well, it's the second time for him apparently, according to that article.
I guess they didn't bother with Lovren as he was probably at home.
lol at Steve Clarke 'greetin' all over the telly.
Ronaldo :happycry:
Just seen what the Kilmarnock 'keeper was sent off for.
Good grief.
Refereeing seems to have gone completely off the rails up there.
Also, I'm pretty sure that finish by Sterling was just a really bad touch.
It's a ridiculous decision. They could've still lost a man but the keeper wasn't at fault.
Is embedding tweets broken?
Nah, that's working.
These Europa League start times are an absolute joke. I'm an hour ahead and on holiday and it still feels too early.
That sounds like losin' talk to me.
Chelsea official twitter announcement of tonight's team:
Sort of sounds like they are distancing themselves from it/the manager.Quote:
This is the team that Maurizio Sarri has chosen for this evening's game!
Starting Kovacic and Barkley. Probably going to have an aneurysm come the 72nd minute
Nah, he'll just tell them to swap positions.
No, because you are only able to 'fuck someone up by accident' if you are playing recklessly. You can prevent playing recklessly.
Whereas - the literally only way you can prevent a goal 'by accident' in an illegal way is by happening to have an arm in the way. You cannot conceivably control where your arms are or be expected to run around with them behind your back all the time like a penguin - as compared to how you launch yourself into a tackle, for instance which you can indeed control.
Of course. But you can still control how violently you play in general. A lot of the time when people launch themselves into late tackles that end up injuring someone, really they should have just realised they were too late into the situation and have abstained from doing the tackle in the first place.
Fucking hell.
That sounds like a rival to the Antti Niemi TalkSport(?) call.
Away goals should be squared.
Nah, multiplied by xG.
Chelsea just got a two window transfer ban.
Blessed relief tbh, as long as it doesn't apply to managers.
Do they still have 178 players on loan they can recall?
Was pretty obvious it would happen. You’d think they’d start to give younger players a chance now. On second thoughts...
I disagree that sending young players out on loan in mass is a bad move. If your good enough, you end up like Lukaku, if not you end up like Mceachran and if your in between, your a van Aanholt
Consolation prize.
https://www.irishexaminer.com/breaki...se-906329.html
Ryan bloody Babel, what a start.
Standard stuff, this.
Looks like they're still hungover from their jolly up in "Marbs".
Why's he not catching that?
The 'keeper, not Hernandez.
He's usually fairly solid with the punch... Fucking frustrating. We looked shaky from set pieces but for a goal to come like that is a gut punch.
Watford must be looking at Marco Silva
Just relegate us now for fucks sake. Get rid of Ranieri, bring in someone who can bring through the youngsters and play some good football, and push for promotion next season.
Babel's hair probably warrants a relegation. What a chump.
Sean Longstaff's a menace. We might as well sell Shelvey now.
Puel sacked by Leicester. Completely unsurprising.
Brenda linked, which would be good for comedy value.
Their squad is pretty good. I think Bodgers would do a good job, and it's about time he jumped ship really.
Watford (a)
Fulham (h)
Burnley (a)
Bournemouth (h)
Huddersfield (a)
The new manager bounce will be glorious.
Brighton first up on Tuesday.
Just in time for some Shakespearean caretaker bounce.
Should have been playing Sarri's feckless mob this weekend too.
:moop:
Think Brendan would do well with our squad. Would be pretty pleased if he came in.
The seethe when it’s Allardyce
Shame. I hoped Puel would last until the end of the season and then move on.
I reckon Rodgers would consider it to be beneath him, the colossal twat that he is.
I mean, it might be Rafa. :uhoh:
I would quite like Rodgers for us tbh.
Not Claude?
What I really want is Mark Hughes, just to see what would happen.
Could they not take Pochettino?
Sir Brendan’s too good for Leicester.
No right back against United. This is going to be painful.
No Martial, Lingard or Matic. I think I'd take a draw right now.
That Man Utd team looks a bit grim with Lukaku and Mata
y-ny-tid
y-ny-tid
y-ny-tid
Oooft, these injuries :moop:
At the moment our best hope of fourth is United not being able to raise a side for the next few games and having to forfeit.
That's a great pass by Lukaku.
Alisson read it well though.
Why would you even bring Lingard on the massive fucking pleb
3 forced subs before the first half has even finished :cab:
And Rashford is struggling too.
What an awful first half. United offered nothing and Liverpool look shite when they get near the box.
Another disjointed attacking performance from Kloppo. This long ball shit needs to stop.
93rd minute winner for Ho Chi Minh City tonight, in the opening game of our Wake Up 247 V.League 1 season
https://gyazo.com/cbd3647183cc6de5ce9a421dcb1dcb28.gif
That was the shittest half I’ve ever seen. Liverpool have to be winning from here though.
Need a random shit goal 1:0 win for United please ffs
This game feels like a fever dream.
Sarri starting three wingers and not one being Hudson Odoi hahahahaha.
Everyone’s final ball has been pathetic. Smalling shouldn’t be offside there
https://i.imgur.com/29EpU9e.jpg
Such a tinpot club.
Well this has certainly been a superb soccer showdown.
The most Super of Sundays. No wonder God took it off.
Liverpool have looked average for ages. I’m not really worried about them winning the league.
Anyone know what time the game starts? I've seen a lot of people go down injured in the warm up.
Good result under the circumstances.
Glad Smalling went forward so that he wouldn't even try and kick the ball. Useless mop haired cunt.
I mean he didn't even try to lunge at it.
Well that was abysmal.
Respect the point.
In quite unbelievable scenes, Taz is on the same boozer as me.
John Terry is on the sauce.
He thinks that Chelsea have as much talent as Man City in THE DRESSING ROOM.
I thought he sounded like a knob supporting Liverpoo when stood in front of me and then it ended up being him. He said he'll start posting again (idk).
We're a Brexit forum now boy go join an Indian one.
Did you at least put a business card on his hook nose?
Klopp blaming United's injuries for Liverpool "losing their rhythm" :D
Jorginho is lucky not to get sent off for that.
That’s a handball and a foul.
Jon Moss is a first ruling twat. You can always tell when they don't do the no foul sign.
How does Luiz even start games at this level still.m
Add Barkley to that too
Christ I've seen a lot of poor, goalless football today.
Under the new VAR line drawing rules that was onside wasn't it? By a trailing stud.
I think so, the VAR line did make Aguero look just on.
Hudson-Odoi would run riot against that chump at left back.
Jorginho and turning into trouble on the half way line. Name a better duo.
That would have been a beautiful goal. SHOOT
Eden Hazard has had an atrocious game. Thank the lord for Kanté bailing him out several times.
He has been a bit shit but then set up the two best chances in the game. Kante has been a monster
There should be a maroon card for fouls like that one Jorginho just committed. 200 match ban.
Ugh, professional fouls. Bet Man City were delighted with the yellow card and a free kick from forty yards out. Load of balls.
Sin bins or straight reds. The game's broken otherwise.
What’s the point in VAR if you don’t let them calls go.
Quite, VAR only works one way, you can't reverse a wrong flag. Dreadful officiating.
Do you get an extra sub in extra time?
Kepa trying to tell Sarri to get fucked :harold:
Haha on yourself son
lmfaooo what the fuck is this
Sarri's seethe :D
That's madness. Sarri can't stay on as the manager after that. He's done.
Holy shit
This is absolutely mental.
I know he's a stupid waiter twat, but you can't just refuse to come off. Do as you're told.
I thought once they put the sub in to the referees that's it? lol
Wait he said they put the board up?! THEY PUT THE BOARD UP AND HE JUST STAYED?!?!?!?
this is fucking scenes
I don't know if I want him to save every penalty or bottle it completely now. I don't know what would be funnier.
Only way that could have gone better is if Sarri had just walked off and not come back out.
Kepa best be saving some pens after that.
Was Rudiger holding Sarri back from Kepa there?
Go on Kepa, Son.
It looked like he was. I've never seen some shit like that.
Why not just send Caballero out now, though? Can they not make a sub now? Sorry for rules ignorance.
Chelsea have two specialist penalty takers but after that shenanigans fuck knows who wins.
Hilario and Cudicini both on the bench, sort it out lads.
David Luiz to shatter the bar with his pen.
Jorginho :D
That little skip, lol.
That only works so many times until keepers catch on
lol at Kepa.
Jesus
Lmfaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Perfect.
That's amazing.
He should have flicked some V's at Sarri after that save.
That Azpilicueta penalty is as good as you'll see. Proper 12-11 in the AFCON top corner belter.
You would always fancy David Luiz in these situations
...
:harold:
So many defenders. Higuain bottled a pen
I'm getting this on DVD.
David Luiz taking penalties is too much for my heart. I resign.
Waff has probably exploded with that.
Three of the first four Chelsea penalties being taken by defenders is laughable.
That is not an English penalty.
Sarri can leave now.
You can't attribute that to anything other than David Luiz being a useless twat, as much as everyone will try to.
Higauin really doesn’t help himself. Chelsea threw that away.
City are having the quadruple this year.
Sarri is pussy. Kepa should have been dragged off.
The thread title should of been "Is Sarri on the ropes?".
In fairness to Sarri he never tends to pull punches in the press conference, so hopefully he'll call everyone cunts and get a box of Cubans out.
I'd be firing the goalkeeper first thing.
Shows how much the players are arsed. They were more concerned for Kepa
Azpilicueta gave it the big'un after scoring his pen but where the fuck was he when all of this was happening?
G'wan son the manager wants you off you go off. Obviously you want to stay on as a competitive athlete but FFS.
Azpilicueta gave Kepa a big hug after scoring his penalty, the Basques are sticking together.
That was brilliant.
I missed the match, but the report I read says that Kepa was suffering from cramp. How does a keeper get cramp?
From jumping up and down a lot.
He’s proper wimped out in this interview. Should be saying he won’t be playing him again.
I dunno really. You aren't really going to help your cause by promising to drop a good goalkeeper for Marcin Bulka.
"I'm proud of our players."
Urr…:D
Sarri coming out and saying it was a misunderstanding because he thought he was injured is laughable. Why would he have been so angry if that was the case? Both of them should be gone before the next game.
Hasn't Jorginho done that dickhead penalty before and either nearly got found out or actually been found out? In the semis maybe? Ederson was just waiting for him.
As for 'Kepa'. Fucking hell. You can't really be doing that.
At least Jorginho has relieved Dimitar Berbatoss of the worst Wembley penalty record. He must be the biggest fanny to hit the league since the old luxury foreigner days.
Michael 'Browneh' Brown being wheeled out far too much recently.
Flo though
The second penalty call in the Real Madrid game was laughable, it'll be the first and last match of that circus league I bother watching on ITV 4.
Just watched the highlights.
Kepa and Azpilicueta are an absolute joke. If it wasn't so obvious that Sarri going, Roman should bomb them both out of the club.
Also, lol at the majority of Chelsea's forwards not stepping up.
I love how, whenever players get called out for being too big for the club, they resort to sabotage.
I don't think there's anyone in the media that annoys me more than John 'Did I Tell You I'm From the North?' Nicholson.
Today's absolute dog shit take, footballer players, unlike literally everyone else in the game, should have a maximum salary which would mean all the prices immediately drop and fans get cheap tickets and there's no more paying loads for your subscription. Truly an absolute mongrel-brained idiot.
What scenes.
I have grand plans on retiring from following the sport this summer once I see us win the league. Would really be quite annoying if I have to dedicate another 12 months to it.
What a nonce.
Don is short for Donald right?
Go and vote here.
Add him to the competition as a wildcard.
Too late for that, but the main tournament needs a side-show like the InterTTH is gonna have with Greg vs. Josh.
Get Taz up against whoever else had a really shit username change between boards and let the meltdown commence.
Taz vs Vercetti
(Vercetti missed the boat because I forgot he was back, and he didn't show up in my member search because he failed the 50 posts criteria.)
If you dont meet the criteria, then get the fuck out of here.
Another victory for the informal pint crew.
Informal lager. :dc:
That's an informal fucking lager to you.
Hi Taz.
This was specifically an informal pint, it was made clear at inception. Current gash is based in those ends so won't be the last no doubt.
Current gash? You escaped the last one?
She probably got bored.
The new one better be even ticker.
Mahow, wind your neck in before we start talking about webcam card games.
:D
Lol at you getting all confident. It’s cute.
Getting Taz back for the hopefully imminent Liverpool capitulation is great news.
:D
I was coming out with my usual belting podcast-level analysis and insight in the first half (lack of which I see has understandably killed the football discussion here ofc), you missed a treat, geezer standing behind me was even trying to get involved. The pints had me compromised by second half and I had no sounding board as I was with the gash and two rookies.
You back for good now @Don?
One doesn't simply leave TTH, as evidenced by yesterday's events.
One merely flounces off for a time.
Did the wife happen to be passing?
:D
Quality MELTDOWN this.
Pavel managed to leave, to his credit. I mean, he piled all his moaning on to facebook but he left here.
Rodgers is off. Celtic fans all suddenly hating him is a bit lol.
I got under 3 months of football interest left which I guess can fuel some posts.
That Leicester side would have done bits with Puel in charge nevermind a force as formidable as Rodgers. The fullbacks and midfield five is filth, just give him an equally likely striker and they'll be superior to Arsenal and Chelsea next season.
They should get Taarabt in there.
The greatest midfielder of all time isn't about to slum it at Leicester, Pep.
I'm a sucker for punishment - off to Southampton away tomorrow. With the run of fixtures upcoming, I can see this being Ranieri's last chance to get a win. Next 4 after this are:
Chelsea (H)
Leicester (A)
Liverpool (H)
Man City (H)
I predict a sacking after the Leicester game after Brendan "masterminds" a hammering.
Two thunderbastards (ignore the shite 'keeper) for Hanoi tonight as they mashed Naga World 10-0...
The best betting tip i ever received was from one of those wacky leagues. I think it was the Filipino leagues @33/1
5 teams with one investor in V.League :moop:
You go to AC, John? Had the worst trip of my life there and still bearing the emotional and financial scars. Qatar won't be the same as far more people will descend on a smaller area (presumably, I haven't checked) and will have unlimited funds chucked at it but it really is shit when the host society don't give two fucks about it all.
Brendan confirmed. Perfect appointment for us right now. Famous last words.
Can anyone recommend any decent footy podcasts? Need something to listen to during work.
"I've give my life for this club." Brendan ... I think they've seen enough of that this year.
He's the least self aware man alive.
Check out Second Captains. They do a sports show on Monday and a football specific one and then if you subscribe they do another football one on Thursday and random sports stuff through the week. For example today’s episode is on Brendan Rogers and Zion Williamson.
Thanks @phonics i deffo appreciate it
I don't listen to many of these any more as they're mainly politics and premier league, but I always found him much better on this than when he was on TV. The soccer ones normally have some or all of John Giles, Liam Brady, and Dietmar Hamann on them too.
https://www.thestandwitheamondunphy.com
You can understand Celtic fans having a bit of a seethe. Could he really not have waited until the summer?
Sean Longstaff's FIFA and PES stats for next year will be ... respectable.
Is it really that much better to be at Leicester than Celtic?
Yes.
Of course.
Yes. Scotland might as well be the Faroes these days.
Cool.
I just thought of it in the sense you challenge for every cup you participate in other than the Champions League. You do, however, basically walk into the Champions League each year...
Idk. Leicester have kinda peaked already haven't they?
McCarthy could have been in for the job had he stayed free. Could still probably.
They couldn't have wanted him that much if they weren't willing to let their already dead season draw to a close before he took over, so he should have told them to get fucked.
I'll go Vardy, Simpson & Kasper.
He was probably attracted to their slew of decent young attackers. Just need a defence and some bravery, and they're nearer 6th-8th.
Maddison, Barnes, Gray, Ndidi, and potentially Chilwell if he doesn't get poached, is a great starting point.
Curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see where Michael Laudrup was at. Shame he didn't push on from Swansea.
Chilwell's bound to go to City as part of their biennial fullback splurge.
£100m for him and Obi Wan Bissaka.
At least Cardiff lost again last night. Wouldn't mind Fulham doing the same tonight. Looks like it's going to be a three-way shit-off between Brighton, Southampton and Cardiff for that last relegation spot. Saturday's game against Huddersfield is starting to feel somewhat defining. Still reckon a couple of wins (3 realistically) is going to be enough, but it'd be nice to get one in the bag.
I reckon they'll be after a "defensive" midfielder. Fernandinho can't do it forever, and, somehow, seems like the only player in their squad who isn't immediately replaceable by someone else at the moment.
Then again whenever he doesn't play Guardiola just sticks some winger in midfield instead and somehow it works so :cab:
Shame they didn't get Jorginho last summer.
Watford make me nervous.
Come on West Ham. :arry:
Looks like we've sacrificed Kepa. Willy to chuck three in.
I imagine that our team is going to be fun tonight.
De Gea; Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Fred, Dalot, Pogba, 'Alexis', Lukaku.
Chong is on the bench though.
No idea where Dalot will play.
Rose/Aurier is probably a top 4 fullback pair; Davies/Trippier would struggle to be in the top 12. I hate this lineup.
Dalot will play as a right winger. A lot of the fanbase have been calling for him to have a go there.
Edit: Although MUTV is saying Young is playing on the wing, so what the fuck do I know?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D0b04JMX0AQASVR.jpg:medium
Pogba's face here pretty much sums up my feelings about our chances of getting 3 points tonight.
Paulp Ogba has that thing Wayne Rooney effect at the minute where as long as he starts you think it will be alright.
Divock Origi starts
Divock to score a worldie.
Where are people getting their streams at these days?
Reddit soccer streams
https://old.reddit.com/r/footballconnection/
Tuning into the arsenal game and Carl jenkinson is at right back.
Jesus. Mary and Joseph.
Cheers Waff. RL that site don't work for me but i think i've got it
Footybite might be fucked
Celtic are really erm... something with those banners.
Lukaku :cab:
Hazard has been dreadful. Get CHO CHO on
Fairly dull first half, but a great finish from Lukaku for our goal. Need to keep it tight in the second half and this would be a very good 3 points.
Fred has got summer loan to Italy written all over him.
Harry Winks is a garbage player
Man City are some bottling shower of bastards. 'Pep' my hole.
Kante is incredible. Even going forward he’d improve most sides. What a fucking guy
Bring Chong on ffs.
Thought Young had fucked that by taking a touch.
Trippier :D
Tottenham :D
i've only not been able to watch two matches so far this year and Ashley Young has literally scored in both of them.
Smallpockets absolutely MELTING DOWN at the first whiff of a title tilt. Meanwhile, the unseasonable weather over this past week has allowed Ole Gunnar Binman to remove his coat and reveal an actual, literal club blazer. The job is his to lose now.
Barca fisted Real 0-3 in Madrid. Their latest binman is useless.
Sarri looks like such a girlscout-fondler.
Just seen Schar's goal. He's our new Albert.
Newcastle being 28/34 with their squad should again secure an easy manager of the year title for Benitez (maybe some competition from Nuno and Gracia).
We could finish 9th. Tells you more about the rest of the league than us, really.
Toxic atmosphere yesterday - a lot aimed at Ranieri too, it seems as if the majority want him gone. Just couldn't understand his team yesterday, we had no width and nothing to get around the back of Southampton's defence. It was such a disappointing performance, I genuinely think we will finish bottom now.
Ranieri does a certain thing which is makes a team defensively solid, disciplined and then gives 1-2 flair players licence. It's worked for him in most jobs but I can't think of a worse squad for it than the current Fulham one.
That said, all the Fulham fans I know are basically pining for the Championship and another year of 4-2 wins, so I'm not sure the top flight is really for them.
That Celtic banner is something else.
'Immortality'
:harold:
Well both 16/17 & 17/18 were incredibly enjoyable seasons, thumping teams home and away and playing lovely football. But a lot of our fans seem to forget the utter car crash that was our first season down, under the nutjob Felix Magath. We came down with a right swagger, signed one big player (McCormack) amongst a load of dross and got instantly found out. We took 1 point from the opening 8 games and the atmosphere at the club was awful.
This season has been a weird one. In all honesty I hate the constant moving of fixtures for TV, and the complete disparity between the top teams in the division and the rest of the crap. But I know it is where the club needs to be for success.
They should have held their nerve and stuck with Jokanovic, who knows if they'd have survived but at least the squad and manager would have been aligned to each other.
Notts County have been given a winding up order from HMRC.
Oh no.
Southend have had them annually for about 76 years now.
Seems pointless, but obviously they don't think he's the man to bring them back up next year.
On the other hand...

This post was brought to you by idiotmouse circa 2007.
I fucking love Vickery but he isn't helped by the callers, so many shit questions repeated from previous weeks. That plus the excessive brazilian shirt name bantz made me give up eventually.
I bet there's still people phoning up asking where Neymar is gonna go after he leaves Santos.
This is all getting quite unsavoury now.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47406109
You used to be able to play bingo with the world football phone in. Dotun doing a shit song title pun, 'the Gent' calling in (he must have croaked by now surely?), Tim Vickery calling a player a 'wild child', and so on.
It's quite strange/slightly spooky that you ask about the gent like that, cus his granddaughter literally posted in the WFPI facebook group four days ago "he has asked me to thank people for their kind messages and to apologise for his lack of communication due to his pain. He is slowly recovering and may phone in in a few weeks time. Watch this space!". No idea about what happened to him, but he's alive at least.
I don't go a day without a bad clickbaity article that Cleo from Aldershot has shared with the group popping up on my news feed so I don't really need to listen to the podcast anymore.
I think I'd pay quite a lot of money for a tv show that follows Tim and Mark Gleeson travelling around the world, with at least one local football game per episode, though.
