I picked up Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie on the DS for £4.99. I was a big fan of Dragon Warrior Monsters on the GBC and I love RPGs so I couldn't not pick it up.

I played a bit of the Neo Scavenger demo and enjoyed it, I'd also quite like Dyling Light which is half price to £20 in that. But given I've just spent a chunk on Far Cry 4 and Rocket League I'd probably better kerb my spending until the Christmas sale.

if you haven't got it yet - Crusader Kings II is £5.99 for the basic game, and £25 for the "Collection". Just don't be fooled, the Collection isn't 100% of the DLC. Asshats.

Crypt of the Necrodancer is meant to be very good in spite of/because of its strange rhythm-action-rogue-lite style. Gunpoint is well worth £3 if you don't have it already, Broforce looks ace as well.
Haven't dug through the whole list though.
Broforce gets boring very fast and then is over. Unless you've got mates willing to couch co-op it, don't bother.

I keep seeing that but I'm not sure. I just bought Sorcery 1 & 2 for a couple of quid and I'm tempted to Banner Saga for not much more.
I've bought it along with Punch Club.
Sorcery is fun, well worth it already and I've only done the first part. Any game that makes me regret not buying a bag of teeth is doing something right.

I don't think I've ever read anybody having had an issue with the big key sites from a consumer perspective but they're obviously bent in some way or another.
Yeah, I've bought off CD Keys a couple of times with no problems but if they are just a bunch of crooks I'd rather not give them my money.
The issue with key marketplaces is that people use stolen credit cards to buy keys then sell them on these sites, obviously this means they aren't terribly scrupulous plus when the fraud is discovered the money is often dragged back from developers. If you're going to use them then try and take advantage of any 'insurance' that places like G2A employ which guarantees your purchase for a few extra pennies. If you don't (like I didn't last time) they will not give a shit if they sell you a key that's already been used.

Sleeping Dogs for a fiver again. Might actually go for it, despite the sketchy controller support. Also, I'm now aware Walking Dead: Season Three is beginning in a month.
Almost all of my wishlist was on sale last weekend. Only thing I bought was Armello, a board game with cards and dice and a small RPG scale (stats, equipment, followers (party)). The RNG is similar to Blood Bowl, which is a game I absolutely love (as some might know on here). There are tactics and strategies you can think of, but with this much RNG in a game, you have to be flexible.
Simply loving it. 4 win conditions, which I all achieved albeit I had to take quite the effort for the Spirit and Rot victory. Kingslayer and Prestige are the easier ones to accomplish. I also love all the characters you can play as and while some might suit a certain victory more, they all can achieve all victories.
Quite happy with my only purchase. :D
That happy that I took up Blood Bowl again as well. :D

You can use Dualshocks but they're not very well supported. You have to install 3rd party software and it'll still display the XBox buttons.
I';m still using my wired 360 controller. Truly the best controller ever made and can take an absolute pasting.
I might buy a wireless 360 controller then.
I used the PS4 controller for Euro Truck Simulator and it worked perfectly, needed a USB driver installed but hopefully the native support works well now.
Got a Team 17 pack with Escapists, Escapists Walking Dead and something else I can't remember, and also LA Cops because I love that kind of 70s cop show thing.
That's what I use if I need a controller, it needs a usb receiver so if the wired ones can plug straight in then they're just as good.

I'm not really into fantasy settings but I'm tempted to give The Witcher a go given how much everyone bangs on about it.

Not that many. And while it is a fantasy setting it's quite.... urgh, I hate to use the word "gritty" but it's about as grounded as you can expect something to be when it has dragons and shit in it.
@Cord for example hates the dwarves/elves/whatever style of fantasy but bloody loves him some Witcher.

I don't know shit about Lord of the Rings (never watched the films or read the book) but Shadow of Mordor is quality. The combat is great fun and it looks lovely. Well worth the three quid odd I paid.
LOTR: Shadow of Batman's Creed is one of the few games of that sort where I'd recommend battering through the early stages of the story first. Basically until you get to the mind control stuff (whatever it's called.)

I think my favourite proper roguelike is still ZangbandTK once I got the hang of it and the turn-based combat (which didn't cut away, the whole thing was basically turn-based) could really drive home a desperate situation. I had one save where I was trying to farm lgiant lice for XP. Basically giant lice multiply non-stop if you don't kill them fast enough but you can abuse this if you bottleneck them so they only come at you one at a time which I did.... only to then realise I couldn't close the door on them again once I stopped and they'd pour out and fill the entire level. Too weak to kill me because I'd taken a bunch of levels from murdering them but I'd be physically unable to move through them if they surrounded me.
So I'm desperately looking at the map to see if I can get to an exit before they swarm me, seeing if I had any abilities that could help at all.... the last resort I had was an unidentified wand that might chuck a giant fireball and obliterate a load of them or might randomly turn one of them into something even more unpleasant. Tried it. It teleported me right into the middle of the room I'd trapped them in. :D
Man I love that bastard of a game.
I loved that random mentalness in Brogue, for every time a mystery potion or weapon saves your bacon there's another one that just sets you on fire or turns a bat into a dragon.
Dead Cells is actually kind of ruined by it's rougelikeishness.
Each run unlocks blueprints and if you complete a level while carrying a blueprint, that weapon/skill will be possible to unlock for every next round. The problem being that the opening Weapons/Skills are so much better than the gimmicky stuff you get later that you're actually hamstrung by unlocking items rather than unlocking cool shit.
Ugh, I'm reeeeaally tempted to ignore my usual preference for ignoring games while they're still in early access and just buy Streets of Rogue.

I'm almost at a fiver from flogging the cards you get given, other than Valve making millions off the marketplace I'm not sure what the point of them is.
I downloaded some idler thing that just seems to sit there going through the games in your library and automatically generating cards, even games you don't actually have installed. I don't understand it, but I'm slowly reaping the tiny rewards.
That time I bought a brand new game by selling a drop I got in TF2, I almost cried.

I just go with the price it says, including Steam's 2p cut. Everything tends to go pretty quick that way, although I'm still bemused as to who is buying these things and why.
If you get all of them you can then combine them to make it's 'final form' and sell it for a bit more. Plus, nutters/perfectionists.

I've played the first four episodes of it on the PS4 but never got around to finishing it off.
It's pretty good so far and I'm tempted to get season two after I finish episode 5.
Really liked the first episode. Story's solid and I like the balance of different stuff to do. I've enjoyed myself with a lot of the Telltale stuff but I feel more involved in this one, even if it's just a slightly more complicated illusion of choice.

I bought it on PS4 at launch and started thinking omg such a creative puzzler I love it, then got bored but persevered, then got stuck but googled it so I could carry on playing and resisted the temptation to cheat more, then decided it was crap and cheated for a bit, before deciding I couldn't even be arsed doing that and sacked it off in about the third zone.
Honestly it's dogshit.
If you love line puzzles, I think you'd still get bored.
FTL for pennies is never the wrong choice.
I like the idea of Project Highrise despite the undisputed fact that I'm always shit at construction and planning games, yet it rarely puts me off them.

It's really not that complicated.
If anything it should be simpler, can't you both pick lone wolf and murder everything? You don't even need companions that way.

It's a good price for a lot of game but as time goes on the harder I find it to recommend the original game.
I'll say what I say to everybody else who's about to play it for the first time: You'll get to a point in the first act where you're traipsing back and forth a lot between a city and a swampy bit. Just make sure you're clearing everything you can do in each area before you do your next trip back to the other.
I pulled the trigger at that price. I was thinking about grabbing something else but nothing really took my fancy. Witcher 2 is also going for like £2.64 but I have that on the 360. It'll run better there than on my R7 240.
Scrolling through the sales has been an eye opener in <blank> Simulator games being chucked out for 30p.

Hades is an all-timer of a game for £12 and would probably work well on the Steam deck (think it was you who got one?) Divinity Original Sin 2 is incredibly for that price too.
And did you ever finish XCOM WOTC and have you played Chimera Squad? The latter was sort of divisive but I liked a bunch of the things it tried and it's under a fiver.

Have you tried any other turn based tacticsy things? There are plenty which aren't so much about appreciating the bad missions for "narrative" purposes.
Gears Tactics, for example, is largely about endlessly charging forward with a big chainsaw.
I had one to review. Warrhammer 40k: Nercromunda Underhive Wars or something. Ran the same principles but had all the pacing of a snail with no purpose. And X-Com which I played for about 8 hours before it all got too much. I could probably come back at it with a bit more knowledge. It's been years since I last gave it a shot.
With XCOM it helps to know what the best research order is as your odds increase massively once your weapons and armour are upgraded.

Star Wars Squadrons is good fun and currently £1.74 on Steam.
I imagine you have all likely played it but if not, Titanfall 2 is £3.74 right now and one of the best FPS campaigns I've ever played, you don't need to have played the first.
The Titanfall 2 campaign is indeed a belter.
