That's an interesting pick from Denver. I thought they'd wait a bit longer & take Michael Gallup, but Sutton is one of the few in the draft that has legit WR1 potential.

Titans trade up, I wonder if this is Landry (or maybe Hubbard).
Yeah, there he goes. Evans & Landry is a nice bit of work from Mike Vrabel & co.
"HONOR? Honor Landry..." :D
How can you fail to pronounce Harold? :cab:
The Raiders really love trading to the Titans.
That baby is hating life right now.
Gesicki is a beast. He was the guy I wanted us to take.
He's probably going to be a fantasy stud this season #listentopleb
Lions trade with the Patriots. Nice to see Bill doing his old guys some favours.
Burleson :D
Look at Mr Style Nate Burleson being the only guy not in a suit :nono:
Also, shut the fuck up & read the card dude.
This guy is slowly losing the crowd :D
Mate.
https://www.buymoviejackets.com/wp-c...et-450x600.jpg
It's the Axel Foley jacket and he even mentioned the banana thing from Beverley Hills Cop.
Kerryon Johnson over Guice as well.
That was a waste of a pick and trade though.
And it STILL wasn't Guice.
If he doesn't go here to Washington I'd just give up if I were him.
HERE COME THE TRADES!
Niners are moving up now.
49ers moved up @Browning so there's hope.
RIP
I love when people shit on the draft audience.
Ahead of Kirk?
I like Pettis, but that's a surprise. I'd have thought they would've gone for a bigger WR, and I have Pettis graded a bit later. Having said that, I like him & he was one of the guys I'd got on the list of potential 3rd round WRs for the Saints.
KC have traded up.
A WR maybe?
The Bengals have traded with someone.
I'm hoping it's the Jets. Nope Kansas City :D
Packers going cornerback crazy, but that's a very good pick. Watch the one hander on his tape.
That's a disgusting trade.
This draft has been great - the script has just been ripped to shreds from day one.
I think my NFL Network feed is slow but I'm watching a stream as well so I know the pick. Has it aired yet?
I wouldn't be surprised if they take a QB.
What a fucking name that is.
Christian Kirk is a nice player - he & Larry Fitz should be a good, reliable duo for Rosen to throw to.
That Chargers pass rush is stupid.
@Gray Fox is on the clock
Work some magic, Howie.
Akers should do a D-X 'suck it' sign.
Akers :D
Keep going lad to shit on the Cowboys.
The memes are real.
Holy fuck :D
Akers :D He could use a throat lozenge, but Dallas Goedert & Zach Ertz is a disgusting TE duo.
My fantasy team is safe this season :youpi:
I fucking love Akers.
Was hoping for some of that last night. Goedert fills a Trey Burton shaped hole in the team. Not many other players I'd like to have seen us take there. Maybe Guice.
Oh and Witten retired today....
So it's amazing from Howie to jump ahead of them to take a TE.
Whoever took control away from Howie, ever. Never mind for Chip fucking Kelly, should be shot.
The Cowboys take a guard? :D
Why is he a tackle? :D
Connor Williams stays in Texas, and they announced him as a guard.
Oh and that's our 1 and only pick in the first 3 rounds. See you next year guys :p
Gray Fox
Another trade. Patriots doing what they do best on day two.
I've also heard that he's a bit too light to play guard and that he was a 4th/5th round guy. Although Travis Frederick was said to be a 4th round guy, Dallas was mocked and he's probably the best in the game right now.
Doesn't even fill a real need.
I reckon they were rattled having lost out on Sutton, Kirk and Goedert so picked the Dallas guy in the green room to get some cheers.
Wow, I've just heard the pick
I love Miller, and Kemoko Turay was another one on the list of guys I was hoping would be there for us in R3.
MJ Stewart can play. I had him to Minnesota at the end of the round, but I expected that to be Jessie Bates or Justin Reid.
EDIT: There goes Jessie. How long before they say baseball?
About four seconds.
Dan, what WR's are we looking at in round 3?
I'm hoping we take one with one of our picks.
I wouldn't even be surprised if we take Guice with one of round 3 picks.
Depends what type you want - from the big WRs I like Deon Cain, and the small, quick ones DaeSean Hamilton.
James Washington, DJ Chark & Equanimeous St Brown are worth a look too, and if you just want a dude to go up & get the ball Auden Tate is a monster.
Equanimeous St. Brown if only for the name :yn:
Bellichick's gonna Bellichick  Sam Hubbard or a QB, I'd think. Outside bet is Isaiah Oliver.
Donte Jackson should be able to run with Ted Ginn pretty easily, so there goes that tactic from last season.
Deon Cain is a vowel away from being Superman so surely he's the winner.
I love Willie Brown.
Interesting pick. I don't know a whole lot about Dawson other than that he's a nickel guy, but he seems to be pretty consistently thought of as a round 3 guy so okay.
Raiders sending out a crazy pensioner for their pick  That's a massive jump for PJ Hall, the kick block master. I'd expected him to be a round 4 guy, but he's talked about as the small school Aaron Donald & the Raiders are just swinging for traits so why not?
Apparently there might be something on Guice other than the combine interview stuff - talk of a video that may or may not exist.
I'm not a fan of the NFC South loading up on defence. Brett Kolmann loves Isaiah Oliver, which is enough for me to hate him going to the Falcons.
There he goes.
It's over, Guice is off to Washington.
We have two early third rounders.
Orlando Brown and a WR. Believe me.
I'm really not sure how I feel about James Washington. You watch him in college & he's just running wide open downfield all the time, but I'm not sure if he can do that at the next level. He's got the build to go over the middle though, and he's got decent catch & run ability, so at worst he should be a solid WR3. I don't see him being better than JuJu or peak Martavis though.
Chark is another one that just burns people deep, and he's probably more like Martavis than James Washington is, but he's still raw as a route runner so we'll see how he turns out. He could be a pretty good player if he can get a bit more polished, but he could also be DaVante Parker.
Brian O'Neill goes in about the right spot - I had him staying in Pittsburgh to learn from another TE turned OT in Alejandro Villanueva. Not sure we'll be seeing him on many jet sweeps in the Minnesota offence though.
Colts have traded up to 64 with the Browns.
Bucs are all about defence so far. I wonder if MJ Stewart will play nickel or whether they're just planning on using him to sort out the safety spot.
We've traded down.
I'm not big on Tyquan Lewis, but then I don't know if you can really go too far wrong with an Ohio State defensive player.
Is Sam Hubbard still on the board? Him, Mason Rudolph & Maurice Hurst as well, although it sounds like Hurst could be crashing because of the heart issue.
Raiders aren't exactly doing a whole lot to get out of the bottom five worst drafting teams in the league. Brandon Parker is okay, but I'm not sure why they're stacking up on tackles when they have a garbage defence.
People were talking about Lorenzo Carter as a potential late first round guy, but I had him as a late 2/early 3 so I'm pretty happy with that.
Chad Thomas is two spots below Carter on my board (admittedly they're both graded as late 3's), but it's kind of a meh pick. Justin Reid, however, is great. He's a similar type of player to Minkah, so having him in the same building as Tyrann Mathieu should be a pretty good strategy.
BJ Hill is a good pick too. That NC State D-Line was filthy last year, and it wasn't all Bradley Chubb. Hill & Justin Jones were kicking the shit out of people on the inside, although I'd imagine Jones will be a round 4 guy.
Fred Warner is in the sam tier as Darius Leonard for me, so to get him a full round later is pretty good. Fingers crossed he doesn't suddenly start beating his girlfriend.
Royce Freeman could be a nice pick for the Broncos. I think there might only be one or two quality RBs left on the board now before you get to all the top committee backs.
That song
The Raiders took a small school DT last round, but Nathan Shepherd is the one they should have gone for. He's 25, which is obviously a bit rubbish, but he's can play & he's got a ridiculous physique for a 315lb dude.
EDIT: The livestream is kicking up & they're now two picks ahead of TV.
Shit is about to go down lads...
Ravens are going trade crazy here, but you wait until this next pick.
He still gets to throw to James Washington
Bengals need to draft a QB so we have a set of rookies in the division.
They might well get one in the next couple of rounds. They could do with a backup, and ideally one who could challenge Andy Dalton in a year or two.
It's not coming here though.
Oh and we better not trade down again. I need sleep and I want to see our two picks.
For when Burfict is suspended.
Those are two nice pick from the Bengals. They're having a pretty solid draft, actually.
Orlando Brown and a WR is still on btw.
You'll probably end up trading back to round six & stacking up on 2019 picks.
Entirely plausible.
I know the Baltimore pick :)
Tracy Walker came up somewhere around 250 on that expert ranking list I compiled, so that seems like a pretty big reach.
Knew it.
Before his combine we were meant to get him in the first.
Okay, the Chargers just need to stop now. It's not fair anymore.
Raiders have traded for 87.
Okay, or a TE.
I guess we're hoping for WRs tomorrow.
Stockpiling Oklahoma guys in round three. Hayden Hurst will do all the blocking anyway, and there are loads of decent WRs left.
The Raiders are still swinging
I have no idea who I want us to pick. I'd say maybe TE Ian Thomas, but it might be worth trading back & seeing if we can get back some 2019 picks.
I'd rather have had DaeSean Hamilton, but okay. TE or trade back would have been higher on the list though.
I feel sorry for the guy announcing the Steelers' pick. I also feel sorry for the guys who had to play against Alex Cappa.
Nice moment there from the Bills Mafia. They'll probably put him through a flaming table later.
Lauletta is off to the Giants. Hope bill didn't have all his hopes pinned to him.
can watch live on NFL.com until the coverage starts on sky sports at 7.
That started six hours earlier than yesterday :cab:
Antonio Calloway & Josh Gordon in the same WR room might not be a fantastic idea. Broncos adding Josey Jewell & DaeSean Hamilton to the Broncos gets a thumbs up, Ian Thomas to the Panthers is annoying, Kyzir White to the Chargers is just more obsecenity, and Kalen Ballage to the Dolphins is an okay spot for him.
Averett, Kenny Young & Jaleel Scott is a solid round from the Ravens, and we've continued to be a bit off what I was expecting by taking OL Rick Leonard, who I'm not sure I've even heard of. Eagles drafting Josh Sweat to be yet another pass rusher is terrifying if his leg doesn't fall off.
Oakland could have just redeemed themselves with Maurice Hurst in round five. It's another gamble, but if they pay off Mack, Hurst & Key on the same defence will be insane.
It was meant to be  I kinda wish they'd let Shaquill read the pick though.
Tre Flowers & Michael 'greatest punter of all time' Dickson makes round five a good one for Seattle.
Tavon Austin traded to the Cowboys for a sixth round pick.
Denver & the Chargers are just kicking the shit out of this draft.
Going to assume nobody can pronounce the notre dame wideout.
Guess Brian Hoyer can keep cheerleading tom Brady.
Charlie casserly is not a fan at all of Tavon austin which was quite amusing to see. :D
Seriously odd move though, he's not cheap and he's not exactly going to pull double teams.
Guess they might just roll a couple of speedsters, suck everyone into the box with zeke and throw some hails downfield and pray.
Mike White & Luke Falk are both still there somehow. They were both day two guys to a lot of people.
Ravens take Jordan Lasley, who made a fuckload of plays with Josh Rosen, but also has off field issues & dropped more balls than anyone else in college. He's the Breshaud Perriman replacement.
Nope, I'm wrong. Tavon Austin the running back, apparently.
Nice little run of punters and kickers in the 5th round. Boy from Texas, Carlton from auburn and then jk Scott from bama.
Just need Eddie pineiro to round it off.
Deon Cain, Equanimeous St Brown, Cedrick Wilson, Simmie Cobbs, Marcell Ateman all still available at the top of the sixth round, and that's just the WRs. Luke Falk still there too, as well as CB Holton Hill from Texas, LB Tegray Scales from Indiana and Akrum Wadley from Iowa at RB (John Kelly & Duke Ejiofor too but they've just been picked back to back by the Rams & Texans).
Jets traded a 7th to the Colts for Henry Anderson too.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...out-potential/
I like the sound of him.
1 letter away from Superman has gone :(
Deon Cain finally goes to the Colts. Apparently off field stuff dropped him down, but he's much better than a sixth rounder on the field.
I hate the feed that is on Sky Sports, it's not showing any of the fucking pick selections.
It's just dickheads talking about anything they want draft related. Luckily the stream on the NFL website actually is showing the picks.
I'm just watching the Bleacher Report stream on YouTube.
I thought about that but the NFL video works on Amazon Fire TV via the Firefox app.
Four of the next six picks belong to the Rams
Rams struggling to get shit sorted live :D
Can he practice?
Shaun Dion Hamilton & Jack Cichy could be good value linebackers in round six if they can stay healthy - both have missed lots of time with injuries over the last two years. Not sure how Tegray Scales is still on the board either.
Wankers.
I was hoping we'd take St. Brown in a few picks.
Packers take Equanimeous St Brown. That could be pretty good if he can get himself sorted out.
Cedrick Wilson right afterwards is a good pick too, although he's not going to help a whole lot with the lack of a Dez Bryant type WR.
There's clearly a run on WRs now, white boy supreme Braxton Berrios goes to his natural fit in New England two picks later.
It genuinely angers me when they show highlights from Boise State players.
The blue pitch
Couple of solid O-Line depth picks from the Ravens.
We don't even had a C on the roster right now so yay.
So after Goedert in the 2nd, we've taken Avonte Maddox(CB) and Josh Sweat(DE) in the 4th and then Matt Pryor(OT) in the 6th.
Nothing overly flashy, but I like it. We add depth at tackle and the edge. I really like sniping Goedert from Dallas, but the one that interests me now is Maddox. He's very talented and I've seen Mayock waxing lyrical about him being a R1 talent but for his height. However I was surprised to see he's only 5"9.
He's the same height as me. Unless he broke all kinds of jumping records, I don't see him playing against #1 receivers.
Josh Sweat is a freak, and he could probably come in & contribute as a rusher straight away, it's just that he has an injury so bad that he nearly lost his leg, so there are some pretty serious medical concerns. If he stays healthy he'll be a great pick.
Danny Etling & Tanner Lee are two of the worst QBs in the class, and they've gone to the Patriots & Jaguars respectively.
I'll admit I don't know a great deal about him, but many reactions say the same as above. First rounder but for the knee. We also did this with Sidney Jones last season. So Howie is obviously just looking at talent.
The Sweat pick also signals the end of the Sam Bradford trade. We traded him for Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat essentially. Can't be mad at that. Especially as we've kept Jim Schwartz.
Bill likes a challenge I guess?
KICKER TIME, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Let's go Jason Sanders.
Gotta love Matt Miller getting calls from teams asking if they have Poona Ford's number because they want to sign him as a UDFA.
Cowboys just traded Ryan Switzer to the Raiders, apparently for Jihad Ward.
Eagles just drafted a rugby player @Gray Fox
Eagles draft a former rugby player from Australia.
Holton Hill apparently failed ANOTHER drug test. At the combine :D He's basically given up an NFL career for weed.
Bo Scarbrough coming in for 'Zeke to pound it out is scary.
The Lions going full nasty, power run game by taking a legit full back.
6"8 you say? Samoan?
Someone keep the boy away from Vince McMahon.
He'll be in a tag team with Vita Vea once they're done.
Zach Sieler isn't even on Matt Miller's 500 player list :D I saw him on one list when I was doing the expert comparison list, but I don't think anyone really know anything about him.
Richie James could be fun with the 49ers.
https://i.gyazo.com/c12d7e0ade716454...b9361121e8.png
Never change, Dallas fans :D
Akrum Wadley going undrafted is going to be a huge surprise. Come to think of it, has Auden Tate been picked yet?
Will Clapp is a pretty good pick from us - I had him going around the fourth, and we desperately need interior O-Line depth.
EDIT: Patriots get their Gronk replacement! Probably not, but they get Ryan Izzo.
Auden Tate & Simmie Cobbs getting shit on here. Clearly big jump ball guys who don't have great speed aren't in fashion anymore.
A Charger fan saying there facing the Cowboys in the Superbowl this season is pretty :D if anything.
Anything worth of note lads? Guess I didn't miss much.
There he goes! He'll be a red zone beast & solid guy in traffic, and probably not much else. BR guys are talking about moving him to TE, which would be interesting, and could've been a great move for us.
There you go.
I completely forgot about Josh Adams. Clearly everyone else did as well.
There are some decent UDFA's available, although I'm not sure there are going to be any superstars out there off the top of my head.
How have you never mentioned Hercules Mata'afa?
I want him on the Ravens.
He's got no clear role - he played inside in college, but he's too small to do it in the NFL, and he's not athletic enough to play on the edge. I think there was talk that he'd have to move to LB, but he's never played there before, so he's basically a complete projection.
Chargers are sneaky good you know. 9-3 last season after a 0-4 start. They've added well in the draft. The AFC is weaker too, so they have a chance to be up there. Cowboys not as much.
They'll be facing a revitalised Giants, along with the Eagles just in their division. If they get through that, there's the Rams, Saints, Falcons, Vikings and the Packers and Packers will be there too. I don't see them being better than any of those teams this year.
The Dolphins drafting a Kicker that isn't Eddy Pinieiro further enhances their status as being absolute cunts. He can kick from 80 yards!!
I only heard of him today... but still.
We've got Sproles back for another year. 528 yard this season and he enters the top 5 in history for all-purpose yards.
I love a bit of Sproles. I'd have had him at Denver any time.
He's signed with the Vikings, sadly, as has Holton 'Cypress' Hill. They've also grabbed a few nice WRs in Jake Wieneke, Korey Robertson & Jeff Badet, and an RB in Roc Thomas.
Some other notable UDFA deals:
Toggle Spoiler
Loads more, obviously, but those were the ones that stood out to me.
We’ve poached JT Barrett off the Colts. He’s not going to be the long term answer at QB, and he’s probably not even going to beat out Taysom Hill, but he’s a fantastic locker room guy & he’d be a solid option as another weird, Sean Payton gimmick guy. I bet he’s already planning some insane play with Barrett, Hill & Kamara all on the field at the same time.
We got Dimitri Flowers (RB) via free agency, was he one of the ones that had HYPE?
Can't remember.
Yeah, Matt Miller loves him so much he was actively texting teams while doing the BR stream telling them they should draft him.
Apparently a lot of teams are seriously concerned about Maurice Hurst's condition, saying no doctor should clear him, he should never be allowed to play football again & it's irresponsible of the Raiders to even draft him.
I'm not an expert, but that doesn't sound good.
I found it
Jason Witten retiring to be an analyst for ESPN is a bit :D
Bandage required after Petty cut.
Matt Ryan just got handed far too much money.
Five-year, $150 million contract extension with $100 million guaranteed.
Jesus fuck.
The real kicker will be Jameis winston. If he gets handed levels like that the market is broken.
Rodgers will be able to buy most of wisonsin when he gets paid.
Matt Ryan & Kirk Cousins are probably third tier QBs at best. If they’re getting $30m a year then Rodgers & Wilson should be getting at least $35m.
Jameis ought to be having to beg for Brees money ($25m), but he’ll no doubt end up getting more.
How do we feel about Jameis & Mariota, actually? Worth being the first two picks of their class? I just went back to see who else was there & it was a horrendous class, so maybe, but good enough relative to other top QBs like Goff & Wentz? Maybe not.
Winston is just wild, absolutely wild with the ball. He's got the leadership skills but you need to back it up with talent. He's good, but he's an andy dalton good.
I think if tampa have another shitey season it'll verify that.
Yeah, I don’t think either have really progressed from where they were when they entered the league.
Mariota is maybe more down to injuries & being on a shit team with a bad coach who runs an offence that doesn’t suit him, but Winston just seems to have not ever evolved past being an above average QB who will make a couple of horrific throws every game.
This is definitely the big season for them though - they both need to show actual improvements if they’re ever going to become proper franchise guys rather than chilling in the Dalton Zone that puts your team in purgatory for a decade because you can never quite justify paying up to properly replace them, but they’re never good enough to get you where you want to go.
Winston just wants to try and win the game with every throw. It's like how I used to play Madden when I knew none of the rules.
It'll be interesting to see what vrabel does with mariotta. He's such a defensive minded coach I can only imagine he'll dig into the "what did I think was a nightmare to defend against him twice a season" and then push that as a basis.
Ground pound is likely, particularly with derrick Henry and bo Scarborough.
We’ve binned Fleener & the Panthers have signed CJ Anderson.
Pretty sure Fleener’s properly finished with concussion issues, so it was really smart of us to pick up a TE in the draft. Oh, wait :moop:
Would have been interesting to see what you could have done with Goedert and Breesus together.
Should sign Gates to create the oldest 2 Tight End set.
Benjamin Watson will have 60 catches this season. Either that or we’re just going to make Brandon Coleman play TE, which actually might not be a bad idea.
More Saints news. Apparently Mark Ingram has been suspended 4 games for PEDs :moop:
What a moron, he'll be the backup to Kamara by the time he's back.
I really don’t think Kamara is going to be an every down guy, and if he is he’ll be far less effective than he was last season.
He might get a few less carries for a couple of weeks, but they work best when they split the job.
Eagles have cut Mychal Kendricks for some reason:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...chal-kendricks
I'd love us to take a run at him but I reckon the Steelers will throw money at him.
The timing of the release is especially strange:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...cl-during-otas
Paul Worrilow has torn his ACL so will be out for the season.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...akland-raiders
Hackenberg has gone to the Raiders for a 7th round pick.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...-use-of-helmet
Kick off changes have happened and they're basically trying to make them as pointless as possible. Oh and a helmet hit can see players get ejected now.
Am I misunderstanding or do some of those kick-off changes actually help the returning team for once? Like, if the kicking team get less of a run up as the kick is taken doesn't that help the returner?
They just need to get rid of kickoffs altogether and do this.
https://youtu.be/t_SsIKgwvz4
Hunter Henry is the next to blow his knee out. Gone for 2018.
Well that one absolutely sucks. Basically every fantasy analyst was wanking about him this season so I look forward to a week of ‘RIP HH’ podcasts & articles.
Eagles have been trying to get rid of Kendricks for a year, so it’s not too much of a surprise. LOL at someone giving anything for Hackenberg though. Of course it would be the Raiders, who seem to have gone back to the Al Davis days of just stacking up on physical specimens who can’t actually play football.
Hunter... for fuck sake.
Just when I get as ready to set my dynasty team aside for a couple of months.
Fining teams if a player doesn't stand for the anthem. Land of the free indeed.
Heil Trump.
This sort of thing is why Captain America got sick of their shit. And yet they never learn. :nono:
He sucks anyway, there's a reason why he still doesn't have a team.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...lemental-draft
Hype because Adonis Alexander has declared for the supplemental draft and is expected to be the first drafted since Isaiah Battle in 2015.
Yeah, saw that this morning. Being academically ineligible is always a good sign for your ability to learn a complicated NFL playbook, but to be fair he does sound like he’s got his shit together a bit.
He’ll probably be a second or third round supplemental pick, which would be the highest since Josh Gordon in 2012, if I remember rightly.
How “academically ineligible” do you have to be to not get into a college if you’re an NFL ready CB? Surely someone would make an exception to get him in.
Kellen Winslow Jr has been busy.
Not quite as bad as Winslow, but another Buc in trouble.
Jameis has been suspended for three games for the Uber grope incident, apparently. They still have Fitzmagic, right?
Fitzmagic always finds a way to start
Mike Evans stock just crashed :happycry:
Guess I should’ve traded him for Ingram & Crowder after all, huh?
I'm sure you can survive 3 whole games of Fitzmagic. Though I'm not sure the Bucs can!
I definitely feel better about us playing the Bucs week one now :D They’re probably going 0-3 given they also play the Eagles & Steelers.
Fitzmagic is the best QB in the league (2 is McCown and 3 is Hoyer) so this is an upgrade.
Hopefully our defence is as good as least season. He should have fun escaping our pass rush.
Geniunely not sure that fitz is even a downgrade on Winston at this point. Thought that last year too.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2...anoris-jenkins
Body found in Janoris Jenkins's house. Not him though.
Kam Chancellor is done. I believe that is the last member of the Legion of Boom gone from Seattle too.
He's not actually retired as I thought, but not medically cleared to return. Because of that difference, he's still entitled to $6.2m from this season and $5.2m from next season are fully guaranteed.
Just got an email from NFL Store about new merch:

:D
That's worse than my Jets T-shirt that my parents gave me :D
Well if you need another one this series probably has a NY Planes jersey.
Can I get a Superbowl Champions 76ers Jersey?
Aaron Jones & Reuben Foster have bought been suspended for two games, and Julian Edelman’s appeal has been denied, so he’s out for four.
Jones’s is particularly lol as he just been talking about how he was bulking up for better durability & pass protection. Guess we know how he’d been doing it now :D
Just managed to find a ticket to Titans/Chargers kicking about
RIP Shady McCoy's career.
Shady in being wanker shocker.
Who the fuck is going to do anything in that offence? Chris fucking Ivory would be the RB1 :D
Nice of Brandon Browner to try to deflect some of the heat on Shady.
Supplemental draft just took place.
Giants took Sam Beal in the third and the Redskins took Adonis Alexander in the sixth.
Brandon Bryant, Martavyeus Carter and Bright Ugwoegbu went undrafted.
Didn't realise it was happening already - seems like two pretty good pickups that are going to be sorely needed to help slow down that devastating Cowboys passing attack.
Dez Bryant is still a FA. It's great.
I feel kinda bad for DeMarco Murray that he retired days ago & we've not even mentioned it.
It turns out I basically pay zero attention to the NFL in the off season these days because there's so much junk to wade through. It feels like there has been a slight increase in early retirements in recent seasons or is that just a figment of my imagination?
It totally makes sense though, the highly paid players obviously. Unless you're 100% in love with the game why put your body through the ringer when you've earned enough to never need to work again?
DeMarco’s entire legacy will be as the plodder holding down Derrick Henry.
It does seem that way. As you say, it’s probably down to a combination of there being more awareness about the long terms effects on the body & brain, plus everyone who’s had a few decent years being mad rich.
The thought of playing for Buffalo looks to have finished the job, mind.
Apparently it's unlikely that Bell will sign a contract before the tag deadline tonight.
If he doesn't sign Schefter is reporting that he could sit out the first 8 games of the season.
If that's the case then the Steelers are fucked.
All aboard the Jaylen Samuels train
Bell has basically already said he will be there week one.
Well that's no fun.
I was hoping he'd sit until week 5 at least.
Brandin Cooks has been given a five year deal with the Rams without even having to play a game.
He's being paid a ridiculous amount of money for someone who hasn't played a game too.
I hope someone has woken him up to tell him.
That Steelers contract offer was disgusting.
$33m in guaranteed money over 5 years. When you remove the 14.5m fully guaranteed that was already on the table under the franchise tag, they wanted him for another 4 years for only another 17.5m in guaranteed money? He'd probably get that on the tag just for next year....
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...perriman-bonus
Baltimore Ravens former first-round pick Breshad Perriman will get a chance to battle for a job during training camp.
The Ravens plan to pick up Perriman's $649,485 roster bonus, which is due on Saturday, ESPN's Jamison Hensley reported.
There was some thought that Baltimore might decide to jettison the disappointing receiver rather than pay the roster bonus to a player not guaranteed to make the roster.
Lads? The fuck? Just let him go and stop throwing money at brick hands.
Is it normal for GamePass to only offer the "pro" subscription at this point? They emailed me about a new subscription level that sounded ideal, but when I look at it, there's only one option, and I'm not interested in paying that much. I pressed renew hoping it would give me the pricing and options and instead it just said "Congratulations your account will renew on 1st of August". I then cancelled the renewal... so they better not charge me, but it's a bit annoying that I can't see the options available.
Vikings OL coach Tony Sparano has died.
Todd Gurley just got paid.
Proves that the Steelers were fucking nuts to think Bell was only worth what they offered.
$45m in guarantees for 4 years with the overall contract being $60m.
And still Aaron Donald waits while less valuable players get handed all his cash...
Anyone watched the new series of Last Chance U? Just started today & it looks like more of the same, only without Brittany Wagner. I should probably watch Coach Snoop afterwards too, that seems like it could be good viewing.
Coach snoop is pish but series 3 of last chance u is quite good.
One of the dudes is an absolute beast and I'm legit excited to see whether he makes it at a different school.
The music video guy :D
Shocking news alert.
Toggle Spoiler
Also, Last Chance U was decent.
I’ve just seen that LSU are hosting Alabama & the Saints have the Rams on the weekend of my birthday :sherlock:
Lads, there’s football happening tonight. I don’t even care that it’s the HoF game, I’m ready.
Might even stay up to watch Anthony Miller run wild
I can't wait for Tim White and Quincy Adebayjo to show up Perriman only for him to make the roster at their expense.
Wake me up when the cuts are made.
Yay Preseason...
Toggle Spoiler
Roquan Smith is still holding out.
He doesn't want the team to take his guaranteed money if he were to suspended based on the newly illegal tackles and he wants protection of money if he was to be suspended for any off the field issues.
Bears are willing to work with the first thing but the second one, rightly, is a major sticking point.
He's already out of tonight's pre-season game
Is he planning to have off-field issues & exclusively tackle by leading with the crown of his helmet? Probably not a great way to negotiate.
He's got a basement full of dead hookers waiting to be discovered after the ink is dry.
Sucks that Dixon, Quincy, Jaylen Hill and Bowser wont get any work tonight.
Hopefully Loomar can do something and RGIII gets injured or something.
Time to start up the engine on the Lamar Jackson hype train then.
The hype train will be motoring nicely when RGIII is cut too.
We haven't kept a third QB in ages and I don't see it changing. RGIII can teach Loomar what not to do over the pre-season then kindly fuck off as we have better back ups (which will be of more use) in other positions that will be needed.
RG3 starting :(
I'll probably be asleep by the time Jackson gets on the field then.
Kickoffs are going to be absolutely pointless this year.
We're not even going to see Kevin White by the look of it. Then again, that's probably wise - he'd only get injured.
Our first run against us in pre-season goes for 30 yards.
Hmmm, I really hope that doesn't signal we're going to have a repeat of last year.
Didn't take long for a turnover. I'd imagine that won't be the last.
Chuck Clark is such a tidy player.
Makes sure the run doesn't go all the way and then picks off a deflected pass.
INT off a tip from who? :D
Perriman
Just cut him now.
Only five weeks until Shawn Mendes guys!
Gus Edwards show so far for the Ravens
Perriman has MADE a CATCH.
Also, Gus Edwards looks quite nice.
I've just realised Mizzell is on the Bears, not the Ravens :D
Three turnovers in the first quarter bodes well. Might be able to hit double figures here.
They stole him from our practice squad last year, still pisses me off as he looked quality in pre-season last year.
Correa needed that, he was slated to be the starter next to Mosley last season but 'Peanut' Onwasur performed so much better and you've got Bam Bradley and McClellan coming back from injuries this year.
Jesus shut the fuck up Bobby Beathard
Josh 'The Answer' Woodrum
Should have taken Flacco's job last year.
Looks like Lamar had a decent enough game - you can see the arm strength on a couple of throws where the ball rockets 30-40 yards & it barely seems like he’s put anything on it, but he also has the ability to take something off & get the short passes out with a flick of the wrist. He wasn’t perfect with his ball placement but it was generally okay.
Obviously running the ball he looks like a potential nightmare but he took a few needless sacks trying to juke people & make something happen so hopefully RG3 gets into him about protecting himself as a ball carrier.
Hopefully he gets at least a half in each of the preseason games, but I think Joe Flacco’s job is pretty safe for the short term.
Went to bed after Loomar's pick which was pretty sloppy but his other work was decent enough for a first showing.
Correa had a HUGE game too which he really needed. 1 interception, 3 sacks, a forced fumble and 6 tackles.
Your backup QBs (RGIII included) look fucking garbage.
What did RGIII do wrong? He had one interception but that was completely on Perriman's butterfingers. Probably could have tried pushing it further downfield but the team was looking to do quick short accurate passes.
I'd say our O-Line, bar Orlando Brown (who looked like nothing would pass him) were the bigger problems.
To me he didn't look like he was threatening Flacco's starting spot also I'm not a fan of his so there's that.
Oh he won't come close.
I'd be surprised if he makes our 53 tbh but he might get a job with someone else.
It's really annoying that Gamepass only has the Pro level available at the moment. I want to renew, but I hardly ever watch live games, so I'm not interested in paying £140 for that level. I only really want Red Zone and the games in 40.
Corey Coleman traded to the Bills, another draft bust from the Browns, but perfect timing for a juicy Hard Knocks scene.
Decent move for both teams really. Doesn’t seem like he was going to work out in Cleveland & the Bills have fuck all at WR so he’ll get a better crack at it there.
We’ve cut Brandon Coleman, which I’m slightly surprised about because he’s a good blocker & could’ve just played TE, but mostly not surprised about because he’s not got much else going for him & was being talked about as a guy on the wrong side of the roster bubble all the way through camp.
Malcolm Mitchell released by the Patriots just hours after being named their WR2 on their unofficial depth chart.... mental.
Really feels like that whole team has fallen apart (not because of this release, but because their entire team looks shit compared to previous years).
It was always going to happen (not sure why they put him on the depth chart), they've been trying to trade him for weeks. His knee issues are hampering him.
Just spotted that the Bills only gave up a seventh rounder for Coleman. Good move as it's peanuts if he does nothing.
I don't think anyone knows if Jordan Matthews was released or just put in IR, but that's him, Mitchell and Edelman out now. Kenny Britt is going to be a thing, isn't he?
They signed Eric Decker the other day who looked shit last year.
If they get Decker into the sort of end-zone receiver form he was for Denver while being thrown to by Brady.
James White out of the slot, with Kenny Britt & Eric Decker our wide. I genuinely can’t think of a worse trio of WRs in the league, and yet the Patriots will still go 11-5 & get a playoff bye.
You have to imagine they’re talking about bringing Dez in for a workout. It’s either that or Braxton Berrios will be Rookie of the Year.
Or they'll pick up Perriman when we finally cut him and he remembers how to catch.
Game Pass Essential is finally up. £40 for basically the same thing I had last year but with no live games at all. Given I don't think I watched a single live game (and if I did it was only 1-2) it's certainly a better deal for me than the £140 pro version. You also get a discount on upgrading to Pro for a week which is normally £15 so I imagine that's £10 a week or whatever, so if I do want to watch the odd live game, I'll still save significant money.
Anyone watched QB1 on Netflix? I'm through six episodes & it's immediately obvious why Jake Fromm came in, won the starting job & took Georgia to the National Championship game as a true freshman. He looks a thousand times more impressive as a person than Tate Martell or Tayvon Bowers.
Assuming he stays healthy I can't see how he doesn't end up being a starting NFL quarterback when he's ellgible, and probably a top five pick. The other two will do well to even get drafted.
Antonio Callaway was cited for marijuana possession the same day that the Browns traded Corey Coleman :D
He was probably second only to Holton 'Cypress' Hill in the number of failed drug tests in the 2018 draft class, so he's done a great job of fucking himself right when an opportunity opened up.
They'll actually bring Dez in at this rate.
Apparently he's saying that his mates had been using his car before he had it shipped over & one of them must've left it in there :D
He's going to be a great guy to have in the same locker room as a rehabbing Josh Gordon.
Nathan Pickterman is currently 7/7 for 75 yards and 1 TD.
Barkley with a casual 29 yard gain on his first ever carry.
Goedert just caught a TD too, so he's worth keeping an eye on if Ertz goes down at any point.
Project Pat with a TD
We looked surprisingly good on our first drive but then the Rams aren't using any starters apparently so yeah.
DT turned FB
Loomar is coming in already.
Loomar has his first TD.
Just going through & watching the games.
Toggle Spoiler
Apparently we've cut De'Vante Harris. Anyone who remembers the Saints defence from the first two games of last season will know why he won't be missed.
I'm hoping Perriman's TD catch the other night has given him an extra season.
Edit: I mean hasn't obviously.
I liked Royce Freeman's run for his touchdown a lot.
Anyone paying attention to the college game?
Starting to sift through the news and getting excited. College game day is great on a Saturday.
I've no way of watching it any more so lost interest the past couple of years.
I’ll be watching again this season. When does the season start?
First game is 2 weeks yesterday, majority of games are 3 weeks yesterday.
Odd season really, not that many quality qbs about.
Tua tagovailoa, will grier, jake fromm, trace mcforley and maybe the return of deondre Francois?
Imagine there will be a freshman turn up that takes us by surprise like fromm did. Where's that boy that left bama before the season started last year ended up? That pissed saban off no end.
Justin Herbert & Drew Lock are the two that are getting the NFL hype at the minute, but it doesn't sound like people are all that fussed by this class at the moment.
Shit went down in Jacksonville:
Jalen Ramsey then tweeted this:
And the Jags have responded by suspending Fowler and Ramsay for a week. Fowler had only been off the PUP list for a day or two as well.
Never mind that, the Eagles have picked up Hackenberg. That’s Wentz finished then.
Apparently the Redskins had a huge fight in camp too that ended up spreading to the fans.
lol.
I can see it now. SB53 is on. Patriots v Eagles rematch. Wentz broke down early in the season, Foles then in the NFC Championship game. Then Superbowl MVP Christian Hackenberg leads us to another superb back-up performance.
That or you know, 4 picks in 1 half and we get shut out.
Wentz must not be ready to go.
Foles has been dealing with a minor injury so they needed another arm in camp.
https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/new...tadium-update/
Spurs wont be hosting Raiders/Seahawks and the game will be moved to Wembley. I'm not surprised as they kept putting off ticket details for the match.
I hope I'll be able to pay a bit extra to have my season ticket go for that game too.
It'll just be a few months delayed. They've moved a few Premier League games about too, but it should still be open by the end of the year.
They're aiming to open the stadium for the Man City game which is the same day as the Eagles/Jags game at Wembley. If it's not ready by then they'll be well and truly fucked.
Another Wembley game
http://www.nfluk.com/news/internatio...5-23215a598e2a
Season tickets will get to add the game to their season ticket between 28th August and 4th September.
Swish.
Isaiah Wynn (Patriots first round pick) is out for the year as he has torn his Achilles.
We’ve cut Terrance West. It’s officially time for me to get the Jonathan Williams hype train rolling again
Patriots have cut Kenny Britt, and apparently the Packers are willing to trade Randall Cobb. Also, the Jets are calling everyone to get a pass rusher - they've been to the Jags for Dante Fowler & the Raiders for Khalil Mack in the last few days.
Jimmy Smith has been suspended for four games.
Our first three games are pretty simple but our fourth is against the bastard Steelers though.
Travis Frederick is out indefinitely as he has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (a disorder in which the immune system attacks the body's nervous system in response to illness.), he might even end up having to retire.
The Raiders have also cut Obi Melifonwu who was their second round pick in 2017.
No Joe Flacco, Michael Crabtree, John Brown, Willie Snead, Nick Boyle, Hayden Hurst, Marshal Yanda, James Hurst, Ronnie Stanley, Jaleel Scott, Eric Weddle, Brandon Carr, Maurice Canady, Bennett Jackson, Terrell Suggs, C.J. Mosley, Alvin Jones, and Willie Henry.
Bit disappointed that Jaleel Scott is out as he would have gotten some actual snaps but excited to see some extended action for the other rookies/fringe lads.
Mark Andrews has a great chance to make a claim for the starting job when Hurst is out too.
So Tucker is having an unusually rough night. Missed a 51 yarder and just had a field goal blocked.
He's clearly lost his magic, @Pleb.
Still looks a bit shaky when he has to pass but that's quality.
So basically a bit of a shitter Cam Newton.
Looked like he fell arse over tit and just happened to land in the end zone. They all count I guess...
Yeah, all well and good being an athlete but there's only so far fast will get you. See tebow, rg3 (crocking) and kaepernick.
Nice option to have for the ravens though. If flacco keeps throwing it away chuck him in and force them to change it up.
I still remember Lamars first game at Louisville. Took everyone by surprise by being the starter and then threw a pick on his very first play if I recall correct.
The browns are looking solid, but then again didn't they win a 4 pre season games last year? Reckon they've got 2, maybe ever 3 better qbs on their roster this year compared to the last one or maybe even two.
Myles Garrett is a fucking animal. Built like a tank and pretty level headed. Injuries aside, he'll be a hall of famer.
I can't put my finger on whether hard knocks is all set up, Americans are really fake, Hue Jackson is useless, or a combination of all three.
Beckham signs. $95m over 5 years with 65m guaranteed.
Indeed :D
NFL Shop Europe is selling the following jerseys if anyone is interested:
Ereck Flowers, NYG
Josh Ferguson, IND
Laquon Treadwell, MIN
Jack Crawford, ATL (I literally have no idea who this is)
Germain Ifedi, SEA
Paxton Lynch, DEN
Breshad Perriman, BAL
All big sellers, I'm sure.
Perriman ones must be going for about £5.
I can't work out where that list has even come from. They sell plenty of jerseys and those aren't the ones I see in the current sale.
Obviously there was a rush to buy all the Perriman ones.
http://europe.nflshop.com/stores/nfl/EN/c/jerseys
Filter by mens & you should see Flowers a few rows down. Staggeringly they're all full price :D
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...ea-from-ravens
We've traded Correa to the Titans. He was just starting to look good (albeit in pre-season games) but we've got a lot of depth inside and outside so it makes sense.
Edit: Only a sixth rounder, meh.
Has anyone signed Mack yet or has the penny dropped for him that he's not worth that money?
There's rumblings that he's going to sit out some regular season games. He's definitely going to skip the first.
Mychal Kendricks is being done by the feds for insider trading :| Such a Browns thing to happen.
Also, Brett Huntley to the Seahawks is happening.
He's admitted to it, clearly should have paid for better lawyers.
Extension sorted for Aaron Rodgers as well, apparently.
The Packers and Rodgers have agreed to terms on a four-year, $134 million extension, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's James Jones reported, per a source informed. Rodgers also receives a record $57.5 million signing bonus and will earn more than $80 million by March, Rapoport added.
Pissing hell.
Teddy traded to the Saints.
lol.
Exactly the trade I'd been wanting us to make
Third round pick.
I think the Saints have done well, he'll be one of the better backups in the league and has the quality to take over from Brees when he dies.
That's pretty much perfect, I'd say. Get him signed up to a cheap 4-5 year deal & we should still at least be competitive once the Brees era ends.
I'm sad that we wont be treated to the Taysom Hill era :(
Fuck, it's even better. Apparently we got a sixth back too.
You'll still see plenty of Taysom Hill on special teams.
$134m for Rodgers. $80m of that by the end of this season if I've read right too.
It's not a bad living I guess.
Does GamePass allow you to keep cancelling and doing a new 7 day trial even in the regular season?
College football is back
UCF v Connecticut just about to start. Fingers crossed Mackenzie Milton doesn't turn to shit without Scott Frost in charge.
EDIT: And UCF have a guy on a stretcher after the first play of the season :|
RGIII not playing at all today.
That had better not be an indication that we're keeping him. We've got such good depth in the defence so it would be mental if we kept RGIII just for him to be a healthy inactive every game.
Loomar will be fine if Flacco gets injured and we can sign Woodrum to be his backup if it happens.
Hopefully it's an indication that we'll trade him away.
De'Lance Turner looks quite shifty. 65 yard rushing TD last week and already has a 28 yard rush today on a 2nd and 21.
Hackenberg. 2 throws, 1 INT.
Rough viewing so far.
You can have RGIII for a fourth round pick.
We have Wentz, Foles, Sudfeld, Hackenberg and Callahan. I suppose we could use a QB6.
And another INT for Hackenberg.
Price is now a third round pick...
Pat Ricard has been doing his FB and DL duties tonight.
Just forced a fumble and recovered it.
Being held, on his knees but still making the play.
What a hero.
Kaare Vedvik is a genuinely great punter and kicker. He wont make the team but he's the new Will Lutz.
Shush you, I'm developing a man crush over here.
Hackenberg finally rubbing off on you?
No but Jordon Mailata is.
Much to the delight of Fox, Hackenberg has been cut.
Also Donald has set the price for Mack:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...135m-extension
six-year contract extension worth $135 million with $87 million in guarantees, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. He also gets a $40 million signing bonus, per Rapoport.
Week 1, and college gameday isn't on until 4. First two hours bailed by BT sport for some racing bullshit.
Do they have an equivalent of a red button? Or have they just taped me off?
Have you tried all of their channels?
UK broadcasters really don't give a shit about American Football.
Having Sky Sports push RedZone coverage for an hour for an ATP tennis match (which was being shown on another fucking channel of theirs) last season was the worst.
Typically on espn which it is on but not until 4. Will have a look on their app, but worst case scenario I'll have to try and find a live stream on YouTube again. Really annoying though.
No big names on our cut list so far but we did cut Kai Nacua who I thought would stay due to Jimmy Smith's suspension and Stanley Jean-Baptiste's injury. Played really well in the pre-season and I felt the pick 6 he had yesterday would push him over the edge.
Could be a signal that RGIII is staying though as an extra DB was mooted instead of him.
This is worrying.
He led the team in catches, yards etc etc in the pre-season but he showed he still can't be trusted.
Ravens supporting friend calls him "Dildo Fingers"
He wont be pleased if he's kept on.
Dildo Fingers is a great name for him.
He was battered on social media yesterday for giving up on a ball (admittedly a bad pass but still) which almost resulted in an interception. He just stopped his route and looked as the defender got a free chance at the ball. Showed absolutely no effort at all which is pretty alarming for someone fighting for his job.
So, the chances of Khalil Mack & Earl Thomas being traded in the next day or two appear to be pretty high. Apparently the Browns are one of the teams in for Mack, which would just be absolutely disgusting with him alongside Myles Garrett
Denver had an OLB called "Marcus Rush." What a waste. :nono:
I thought you meant Earl Thomas.
Khalil Mack actually getting traded, fucking hell. It's probably wiser in the long run as his contract would cripple a team but he's arguably the best defensive player in the league.
Of course it happens a day after I cut him in fantasy... oh well.
Corey Coleman being cut yet again.
What a waste of space.
Bears for the SuperBowl
Coleman came across as such a dick in the first Hard Knocks episode so I'm glad.
I hope he likes staring at all of his shoes all day.
Also, I think the commissioner in one of my fantasy leagues is a Raiders fan who isn't keen on the Mack move. He's changed his team name to 'FUCK JON GRUDEN'.
I guess we find out how good Trubisky is this season. He has a very good RB corps, they've given him a good WR in Robinson and also a good TE in Burton. The defence obviously just improved too.
Yo @Foe did you just see that catch from TJ Vasher in the Ole Miss/Texas Tech game?
This game is pretty mad already actually - Ole Miss have scored a 58yd TD on a two play drive, then after Texas Tech went down the field for six they've just gone & taken the kickoff back for another TD. They've played less than five minutes.
We've released Nico Siragusa who was a fourth round pick last year, looked like he had good potential but he completed fucked his knee in the pre-season last year and has struggled getting back.
Was he anything to Tony?
Albert McClellan has also been released which opens the door for Chris Board.
That would mean that an UDFA has made our 53 for 15 seasons running now.
When have the cuts to be in by? I've only seen 13 of the Packers ones so far.
9pm tonight our time.
literally no idea who 95% of these players are. No idea how anyone can care.
I did actually. I signed up to espn player for £20 a month to watch game day and have this on whilst watching the Man City game on my other tv.
Bloody good catch it was too. Ole miss look a lot better than they have done for a while.
Alabama Louisville and Washington auburn dual screen later maybe, depending on timings.
Very similar to OBJ's mad one a couple of seasons ago.
The punting in the Texas Tech game is quite something.
That fumble :D
Yeah, first week of the college season (well, i think some of the shit ones in divisions nobody cares about played last week).
Washington/Auburn, Michigan/Notre Dame & LSU/Miami are the highlight games, although Ole Miss have a handful of NFL players & Texas Tech have Dakota Allen from Last Chance U so this is a decent one as well.
Breshad 'Dildo Fingers' Perriman is officially gone
I look forward to the Patriots signing him & turning him into Brandin Cooks.
I'm fully expecting someone to sign him and he magically learns how to catch the ball.
It would be a very Ravens thing.
Both teams look garbage so I'm not surprised.
Gillislee potentially being released by the Patriots which is lol really.
Gonna dual screen Georgia Austin peay and Washington/auburn.
See whether Fromm can tear these wee guys apart.
Also, Jordan Mailata has made the Eagles roster despite never playing football before.
I wonder what happens when Trubisky needs a new contract.
Well it looks like Auburn are about to give Washington a dicking.
Just to round off their LOL day, the Raiders are trading for AJ McCarron.
These must be near all the Packers ones at this stage. No surprises.
https://m.cheeseheadtv.com/blog/rost...ay-packers-411
Dan Bailey released by the Cowboys. Didn't see that one coming.
Sounds like Martavis will be following Khalil Mack out the door too.
I find it funny (and slightly sad) that everyone was saying Jonathan Williams was going to replace Mark Ingram only for him to get cut.
Dat catch
Something's gone down with Kaare Vedvik.
@Sir Andy Mahowry
EDIT: Assaulted & robbed, suffered head wounds & apparently had teeth knocked out.
Sucks for him but we can actually stash him on an injury list now.
RGIII has made the roster.
Chicago have wasted no time handing the entire state of Illinois' cash reserves to Khalil Mack.
Only 8 QB's (Rodgers, Ryan, Cousins, Jimmy G, Stafford, Carr, Brees and Luck) have a higher average per year.
Highest total value contract though and second highest guaranteed according to Overthecap (but they only have Rodgers at $78.7m). The deal is bonkers but I guess they can afford it with Trubisky still under his rookie deal for years.
I have a feeling that Griffin wont be on our roster for a long time.
Apparently we have a lot of interest and I'd imagine that they were low balling us in the hopes that we'd cut him. I think we'd take a fourth which I think is feasible.
This Penn State game is mental.
Right, now I've been round & picked up Alfred Morris in every fantasy league, I should probably mention that Jerick McKinnon is done for the season with a non-contact ACL tear.
You filthy little shit :D
Is Mack really worth half the City of Chicago? I feel like I'm missing something.
So tua is the starter and that creates an interesting dynamic for jalen hurts.
1. Stay until December, graduate and transfer.
2. Stay but don't play in more than 4 games, transfer and you don't lose academic eligibility for the year, so have 2 years of eligibility left.
3. Stay and hope tua gets injured so you can take over.
4. Leave now, play in juco and go to another school next year.
I think sabans been a bit sneaky because he knows it sort of makes sense for hurts to just stay and transfer next year. Means he has two competent qbs for the year and can recruit another qb to backup tua next year (on the draw of him only having 1 year left and he'll go pro).
Would be amusing if jalen leaves and tua gets injured. As it is, he'll stay, graduate and transfer to Texas.
What's the deal with college to professional then?
@Dan mentioned something about Ole Miss having a majority of NFL players etc.
To my understanding College football gets massive numbers supporting it too, so they'll offer the better prospects a scholarship at their college with the bonus that they get to play football for a better team. There's money to be made after all.
The idea being you'll put up better numbers in a better team and so stand out better etc. Certain schools have a high number of first round picks too.
Players can go to whatever college they want. Some colleges play in more prestigious conferences and naturally attract better talent and get more media attention.
If you play and play well at one of these big schools you're likely to attract the attention of NFL scouts. However, it doesn't really matter where you play if you're good enough. Carson wentZ was the second overall pick and he played at a lower tier school, akin to playing for the likes of Rochdale or port vale. Same with khalil Mack who played for an equivalent of like a Rotherham.
Back to NFL news, Paxton lynch and Davis Webb have both been waived.
The top colleges get 100,000 fans at games. The biggest stadiums in the us are college football stadiums. It's masssive, massive business despite the players getting sweet fuck all payment (bar food, board and education). College coaches can make a huge amount. Jimbo fisher left one powerhouse for another this summer (Florida state for Texas A&M) and he's got like a $100m contract with $75mill in guarantees. Nick saban is at the biggest college (Alabama) and he left the Miami Dolphins head coaching gig to go there.
HE’S GOING TO REPLACE MARK INGRAM GUYS!
What’s a Boston Scott?
You know what? I don’t think Penn State are going to miss Saquon at all if Miles Sanders looks as good as he did against Appalachian State every week.
He’s not quite got the insane explosiveness & lateral quickness of Saquon, but he’s still really good in both areas & he’s better as a between the tackles runner than Barkley.
I think he’s a junior too so he could declare this year if he runs wild.
If they keep giving up that many points to the likes of Appalachian State then it won't really matter anyway.
Yeah, defence could use some work.
Just paid for my 'Hawks/Raiders ticket so I'm officially going to all 3 Wembley games this year, whoop.
Just watching the Florida State/Virginia Tech game and man, FSU are terrible on offence. The line is a mess, their play calling is awful & they've got an amazing ability to fuck everything up when they get in a good position.
Yeah, they're really not a good team. A bit like Florida last year where the team was ranked because of the hype.
Lsu looked way better this year though and they completely dismantled the hurricanes. Sec might be quite competeitive if A&M, miss state and ole miss actually turn up.
I fucking hate Gillislee, he's a fantasy nonce.
Tonights game will be delayed.
There's lightning bearing down on the Linc and fans are being told to go inside.
Took a nap in the hopes I might be able to watch it all.
The delay isn't going to help.
Earliest time it will start is 2am our time. That's optimistic too.
Fuck sake, half time might even be a stretch.
2am start was based on the weather clearing the stadium by 01:30. The storm has just hit there now, so it might be even longer.
This Eagles fight song is embarrassing.
Boyz II Men are absolutely banging out the anthem here.
This is quality.
Nice to see that the Falcons still can't score TD's in the redzone.
Very nervy finish, but got the job done.
Falcons stuffed the offence well. Hard to tell if they were good or Eagles offence was bad. Once we got the run game going it looked a lot more solid.
Oh and... Philly Special 2.0 :checkit:
Just seen the low scoreline. Was it a penalty filled shit fest with the new rules like the whole preseason was?
First half definitely was.
18 flags before I went to bed.
Anyone going to the free NFL Kickoff event in Picadilly tomorrow? Gonna head down there & take a look around the merch stands. I've missed all the tickets for the actual events, but half of them are cheerleader signings so I'm not all that bothered, although it would've been cool to do the Around the NFL podcast one.
Falcons have lost Keanu Neal for the year with a torn ACL. That's going to hurt them.
Injuries are probably the reason we got over the line last night. We didn't get any but they seemed to lose a guy every other play in the 2nd half.
That sucks, but I feel a bit better about the Saints’ chances than I did 24 hours ago.
Alabama are disgusting this year. They're 33-0 up on Arkansas State midway through the second quarter :cab:
EDIT: Pick six on the next possession, 40-0. Still 6:44 left in Q2
I see Central Michigan are getting fisted by a team from Kansas.
Colorado/Nebraska, on the other hand, has been a cracker. Nebraska led 28-27 with 90 seconds left but gave up a cheap first down on an unnecessary roughness hit on a defenceless receiver on what would've been 4th & 19 at midfield, which set Colorado up for a go ahead TD (Laviska Shenault looks like a beast, by the way). Nebraska lost their only scholarship QB to an injury the drive before so they've driven right down the field with a walk-on, but couldn't get the ball in the endzone.
Clemson/Texas A&M now, so hopefully that hasn't already turned into a bloodbath. I'll be interested to take a look at Trevor Lawrence if he gets some snaps.
EDIT: He does play, and he throws a 64yd TD on his first play of the game :D Admittedly it was mostly because of a great catch from Higgins, but if you need a QB in the next few years, it's Jake Fromm & Tua in 2020 or Lawrence in 2021, don't worry about this lot (having said that, Will Grier is rolling so far this season).
RoJo isn't even active this week :D
Marlon Mack & Anthony Castonzo out for the Colts, Will Fuller out for Houston & DeVante Parker inactive for the Dolphins. Andrus Peat is out for us, which is somewhat concerning as depth isn't the strength of our O-Line this year. Cameron Meredith is inactive for us too, and apparently it's going to be Austin Carr starting in the slot. We've got our new Willie Snead
Evans & Landry being out for the Titans isn't great for my fantasy defence prospects, but they've been a consistently good run defence & still have enough to be able to put pressure on the Miami offence, so hopefully they'll do okay.
Who in the good fuck is RoJo?
Toby Roland-Jones
Fully expecting their fisting. I love it.
Luckily that was a close enough reference and I'd read a grown up talking about their second rounder not being active tonight.
What's all this about a turnover backpack for FSU? :D
So lads, still not sure what's going on. Watch the sky game, another game on gamepass or redzone? So many options!!
Always red zone for me. I have too many fantasy leagues to focus on any one game.
Well if you've ever had game pass you know it won't work, so at least that makes the decision easier.
Unless the sky game is an amazing one, always take Redzone. No adverts and always a team near the goal line.
Sound, I never bothered with it last season because I assumed it was a gimmicky mess, but i'll give it a go tonight. Probably better for learning about the players and that, as well.
It was a joke last season but all was supposedly fixed so I signed up again. So far every single episode of hard knocks went back to the start at random times and NFL network has crashed 3 times this evening.
On the upside, the game in 40's have been up early on Mondays and worked fine during preseason. They were a mess until week 7 last year.
Yep, just about to get redzone up & running.
Dalton almost throwing a pick 6 on his first throw of the season is such a Dalton thing to do.
Great defensive play from LaQuon Treadwell to bat that ball down. Shame he's still playing with the offence, really.
EDIT: Yeah, it always happens when I play him in fantasy.
Bengals tried to knock Luck the fuck out there, christ.
Giants :D
Get fucked.
I'm surprised he wasn't ejected tbh, that was brutal.
That's the sort of hit that you get ejected for in college games, not sure why it's not the same in the NFL.
He has now which was the right decision. Fuck knows why it took them so long.
Official discretion :D
Jesus christ.
These bullshit rules are going to make the game unwatchable. Ejection my hole.
Agreed, it was helmet to helmet & crown of the helmet too, so they can't really have too many complaints. Imagine if that had been Burfict.
Pickterman is at 1/4 for 3 yards and he's been sacked once.
This is going to be a great day for our Defence.
Fucking hell Dolphins learn how to catch a pick.
Mariota is having a mere. Amazing :D
Looks like the Saints game is going to be a shootout, the Titans haven't got any better on offence, and the Jags are still strong on defence.
Fitzpatrick
Not sure that was how that Loomar play was meant to work :D
Denzel Ward is a stud
Putting Loomar in a bit too much, simmer down lads.
Fucking hell Cincy, get your shit together :D I already feel like an idiot for trusting them.
Diggs
John 'Smoke' Brown
He and Flacco had some great chemistry during the pre-season so good to see it's continuing.
Yeah, it's good to see Smokey healthy. Better to see Diggs donning it though.
EDIT: That O-Line is going to ruin the Texans.
I feel like the Ravens can already start running the clock out. Not much chance Buffalo are going to score 14pts on them today.
Benching Cousins for Big Ben has fucked me in the ass in TTH standard :moop:
Red Zone is bollocks.
Marquise Goodwin down on the field at the minute.
Tavon Young, our slot corner back, already has 2 sacks of Pickterman.
Someone get a gif of that Big Ben run.
What a drop :|
That roughing the passer call on Myles Garrett is pretty bad, to be fair.
Looks like our linebackers still can't cover for shit.
Fournette being checked for a hamstring injury. That'll be nice for my TTH matchup if he loses some snaps.
That fumble from Cook :D
Fuck sake Dalvin, that was a great run until you chucked the ball away :D
Bills up to 17 total yards.
Yeah, Houston needs to use all their picks & cap space on getting some competent offensive linemen. Watson is going to get the shit kicked out of him this season - if the Patriots can get this much pressure on them imagine what it'll be like when they play the Jags twice.
Big Ben...
Saints on the ropes.
We've not won either of our first two games four seasons in a row. Looks like it could be five.
Pickterman picked off.
Peterman's going to be playing the first four games now matter how bad he is, just because of how hard the schedule is.
Denzel Ward has two picks
Cheers for blowing the whistle on that catch, refs :moop: I thought the whole thing was to just let the play continue then sort it by review, but apparently not.
Nevermind, he's scored anyway :flex:
It seems that he's defected to our team anyway:
That's a mad catch by Gronk.
Clever by them to hurry up as it probably would have gotten reversed.
RG3 & Loomar to play the second half?
Flacco jogging around & lobbing a pass back across his body to John Brown with Jay Cutler-esque casualness pretty much sums up how easy this game is for Baltimore.
That's great toe tapping by Crabtree.
RG3 is inactive so Loomar will take it.
We have more points than they have yards right now.
Barkley nearly got his neck broken on that one :|
Yeah that was horrible.
I liked that run there by Barkley, looks like he's going down for -3/4, puts the defender on his arse and then turns the other way for +3/4.
Shame about the hold which ruled it out.
Jimmy G & Watson both getting exposed here.
Honey Badger making plays so far.
All of our new WR's have scored TD's today
Okay, let's just get it out the way...
Bills wins on the season. Over/under 1.5?
Under, their schedule is brutal.
They'll only get a chance against the Jets.
And there's another pick (almost returned) for us.
Luck isn't going to last the season with this O-Line.
And he's already been sacked.
5/18 for 24 yards and 2 interceptions.
Good day for Peterman.
Loomar is in now.
#Fitzmagic
Great catch from Dante Pettis there. Good throw from Jimmy G too.
Let's pretend the Saints aren't playing :moop:
3 teams i streamed Saints DEF. Shiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
Josh Allen has decided to just run it.
11 yards and then 14 yards.
I mean, it doesn't even matter at this point.
Jimmy G dream is over.
Ohio State rookie DE Sam Hubbard playing fullback for the Bengals on that Mixon TD
I thought about watching the Saints game today. I'm so glad I stuck with RedZone.
Texans defender just got knocked out.
That was lovely by Barkley.
Not sure how you can be expected to tackle the QB, then magically let go, fetch a mattress & place it underneath them before they hit the ground, but that seems to be the only way to avoid a roughing the passer penalty now.
Saquon  Seems to have been a typical game for him really - lots of not much, then suddenly goes into evasion mode & breaks a long one.
Fred Warner has had a great game for San Fran from what I've seen. He & Reuben Foster could be a great pairing at linebacker for the next decade.
AJ Green really does like putting the ball on the floor.
Someone buy AJ Green some new gloves.
That block from the Cleveland lineman on Tyrod's run :| Didn't see who it was but I hope it was Desmond Harrison, the UDFA who's starting at LT for them.
Conner :harold:
Myles Garrett making plays.
Browns win?
I feel like Odell Beckham & Michael Thomas have caught every pass in every game today.
That might be the worst QB power I've ever seen from the Texans :D
Myles Garrett is wrecking Big Ben.
Yeah, that defence is going to be pretty fucking good
That Bengals defender has made a couple of big plays today, he's pretty fast as well.
I know his name but fuck spelling it.
Well at least I got that pick right.
lol at that neutral zone infraction, dear lord.
What a Giants way to lose a game.
We should have played him at WR last season.
Kenneth Dixon with a TD :alan:
It's his season.
RIP in pieces Jimmy G.
Harrison Smith has been everywhere today.
Hang on, the Bills scored points? Fucking disgraceful.
Tyreek Hill is a fucking monster.
91 yard punt return TD for the first touch of the season.
I'm glad that they decided to sack off half-time in the Dolphins game.
Would have taken the piss had they done it after a 2 hour break.
Cleveland's gonna Cleveland
Not sure if anyone has noticed, but Tyreek Hill is fast.
Michael Thomas is currently on pace for 256 catches, 2880 yards & 16 TDs for the season :flex:
I want my 'Titans win the AFC South' pick back.
Earl Thomas was only activated yesterday. What a guy.
So typically Browns to take this game all the way to overtime, get multiple chances to win the game, then shank a punt & lose to a FG.
Not a great start for my Denver prediction either.
EDIT: Right Cleveland, you've had so many let-offs here, go and win this fucking game (or throw a pick six).
EDIT: Immediate three-and-out taking almost no time off the clock at all :D
What a fucking catch that was from Tyreek. I don't know why I didn't draft him more.
EDIT: Phillip Lindsay & Derwin James
Browns
If the Browns bottle this now....
The Browns had better buy their entire defence dinner for the rest of the week, regardless of whether they win or lose.
Fuck sake :face:
Why did we expect anything else? :D
What an absolute shitshow in Cleveland. :face:
Titans/Dolphins will never finish.
Specialist blocking tight end Will Dissly appears to have turned into Gronk since he got drafted.
That was quality by Sanders.
That drop by Benjamin, fucking hell.
AP looking good early in the season.
These calls on QB 'hits' are fucking terrible. Flagging Chandler Jones for jumping on a QB who'd picked up a fumble being the latest.
Seems a bit obvious to say it now, but I couldn't understand why all the so called fantasy "experts" were claiming Rivers would be a top QB option this week. He's always fucking shit against the Chiefs.
They do always beat the Chargers...
Fantasy experts overrate Rivers massively, they all have him in low Tier 1/high Tier 2 of QBs.
Chad Kelly is going to see the field this season, probably pretty soon if Case keeps on chucking picks as soon as he gets the ball.
The Titans Vs Dolphins is now the longest game of all time.
What happens if they can't finish it?
They'd get them to play it either tomorrow or the day after I believe.
I'm sure that's what happened the last time Tampa had a game delayed due to thunder.
I've been practising in my back garden, Broncos should give me a call.
Mahomes runs strangely and his shitty little rolls to try and stop himself getting hurt are weird as fuck.
Butt, heh.
That's a brilliant catch by Thomas.
Kick off return for both the Titans and the Dolphins.
Making up for lost time.
Man, the Titans are fucking terrible. Where's Mariota gone, by the way?
EDIT: Mariota's got an apparent elbow injury, and now it looks like Delanie Walker might've fucked his ankle. Pretty much couldn't have gone any worse for the Titans here. Taylor Lewan's gone out too, so they're pretty much looking at 6 wins now.
Walkers either broken his leg or his ankle, if not both. This could be the season gone in game 1.
I liked that TD run, it made Clay Matthews look like a fool which is always good.
Run option and he decides to take neither the QB or RB.
Oh hello Chicago. Where have you been?
This is so weird. It's as if the teams swapped Jerseys before the game.
Rodgers could be hurt too.
Aaron Rodgers is far too brittle.
He did have a rather large man fall right on his knee.
I'd be surprised if that's not at the least an ACL/MCL sprain. At worst it's a tear or a small fracture of something in the leg.
ALREADY PAYING OFF.
That's an investment.
The hush in the stadium. This is crazy.
:eyemouth:
Money well spent.
Fucking wow.
Rodgers may not want to make it back this season. He's got to face this again and the Vikings twice. What were the Raiders thinking not paying Mack whatever he wanted?
Oh and Delaine Walker dislocated his ankle and fractured the lower part of his leg. Done for the season(obviously).
Sending Rodgers back in here is just asking for trouble.
Sounds like a couple of Keenum's turnovers were pretty ugly but otherwise reads like there were a good number of positives for Denver and hopefully last night was indicative of better things this year from the o-line to help everything else on the offense go better.
How about this Khalil Mack guy Oakland? Bet you wish you’d drafted him.
Fairly epic bottle job by Chicago.
More London tickets on sale in 5mins if anyone’s interested
No one to go with means I miss out.
I'm hopefully getting a Seahawks ticket sorted out for me now, glad it's moved to Wembley.
Someone in our league decided last minute they'd go so I'm trying, but in a queue and nearly 30 mins after they went on sale I think it's a lost cause.
Just got Raiders tickets but looks like the Eagles ones are gone (at least the ones under £100)
Tickets for both other games still there.
Looks like it's one of them or bust.
I’ve got one for the other two, but you’re looking at £200 plus for Eagles/Jags somewhere like Viagogo if you want to go to that one.
Yeah tell me about it. Just can't justify it.
Shame I couldn't stay up until the end, Jesus.
I had my first chance this year but I couldn't stomach staying in London for one of them. I think I'd much rather see a game in the US anyway as it must be weird at Wembley with fans from all teams there.
It is a bit strange but it's a cracking atmosphere.
I know it's obvious but this is a hilarious stat.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dmsr_dPX4Aky7-A.jpg
In before Cleveland goes 0-15-1.
You know when you get the World Cup games where neither team has that big a following there but everybody's having a good time and it's just a good, fun atmosphere? It's that. And if you're there as a neutral there's no reason to really care that the fans aren't trying to drown out the opposing QB or whatever. I've never not enjoyed my visits.
Football matches can have a nasty atmosphere. Meanwhile I was at Murrayfield sat amongst Scots for a Calcutta Cup game that Scotland won and had a great time. And when the whistle went at the end all the people me and my dad had been dishing abuse back to just went "Och it's fine lads, you're batter us at Twickenham next near." Even partisan crowds are fine in many sports. Dunno if the big Murican ones are that way or if they're shit like football.
Is it not weirdly muted when someone scores or does someone end up shouting for a team?
There was big support in the Jags game last year.
And now perhaps it's not.
I'd imagine he goes on IR (or they just decide to cut him) and we call up either Edwards or Turner who are both on our practice squad who were great in the pre-season.
Even neutrals want to see a score. And usually pick a side even if it doesn't result in a typical home/away atmosphere.
They also will appreciate good plays.
Going back to the Jags/Ravens game there was a huge cheer round the stadium when Corey Grant had a huge run with the fake punt.
Although it was good for the seethe from 3 Ravens fans sitting right in front of me (they had come from Baltimore), they left early and one took a walk round the stadium after the Jags first two scores. I think I was the only Ravens fan (visible wearing a shirt) in my block at the end of the game.
Darnold following in the footsteps of Famous there. :D
Wow Darnold.
Please get better than that quickly. I need Stafford scoring these points.
Forgot there was an earlier game.
Sam Darnlold.
I love Jets QBs.
Jeremy Hill is out for the season with a torn ACL.
If that's a catch then I'm irresistible to women.
Even in real time you could see it moving all over the shop.
Well I guess I should expect to find a wife any day soon.
That was brilliant by Golladay after the interception.
That shot Stafford took seems to have woken him up.
And he's back asleep. Fucks sake.
He's going to be dead by the end of this if they don't take him out.
He's done, Fox.
Woof.
Jets are slapping Detroit hard.
Stafford
Would never have predicted this after Darnold's first pass.
Going to be riots in Detroit.
Not so easy when you're not standing next to Brady and Belichick it seems.
It seemed like every time Stafford got hit it knocked more skill out of him.
Can anyone explain the Browns thing to me by the way?
I understand that Cleveland isn't a big market (yet big enough to have a team in every sport) so won't get the best players but how do you manage to be so consistently bad in a sport that rewards being total dogshit. Not winning an opening game in 14 years seems like madness to an outsider.
They've had a long run of buffoons but there must be something about the place too They're basically a new team since 1999 (The Ravens are the original Browns) and they've drafted some shockers in their 19 years.
The current owner is fairly new. When they came back in 99 they were owned by that lad that had Aston Villa iirc.
Edit - actually, the original owners son bought villa and owned the browns after he died.
TBF the Cavaliers are also a massive joke outside of drafting LeBron so maybe there's something in the water.
The degree to which they've muffed up some of the drafts over the years is hilarious. Two years ago they took a guy in the first round who they just traded for a sixth round pick, and the team who took him then cut him.
He's just signed for the Patriots though so watch as he makes twenty TD catches.
Didn't help that for 2 years they employed Sashi Brown as their GM who was a lawyer.
They also couldn't draft a QB for shit although I think Baker Mayfield might finally break that curse.
That being said whoever was in the ESPN truck that evening/night could give no fucks when he/she flicked the switch to the Raiders/Rams game with 5 minutes of the fourth quarter left :D
Don't blame them really.
Falcons season is over in the first week. They’ve lost Deion Jones to IR now.
No linebacker will ever make or break a team's season any more.
No, but losing a star linebacker & safety, plus the offence still looking like a complete shambles, makes it pretty hard to get anywhere in the NFC. The defence is still pretty good, to be fair, although I feel like the drop from Jones to everyone else is massive.
The NFC South is Tampa’s for the taking as long as they don’t put Jameis back in.
@Dan are we getting out of our division alive? :baz:
I've enjoyed listening to an American sports podcast over the summer but now footballs back it's all football so I need a quick refresh.
Wide/Inside Receiver = the guy the QB throws to?
Offensive lineman = The guy that stops the QB getting sacked?
Full back = No fucking idea but apparently they're irrelevant in the modern game anyway?
Plus: How much does the guy that's only job is to punt the ball get paid? That seems like a nice job to have.
Full back is is normally lined up behind the QB in front of the running back and the main job is the run ahead of the running back to lead block for him. They'd also on occasion catch a pass or run themselves in short yardage situations as they're normally fairly stocky. As teams have gone towards more passing with 3 and 4 receivers they've become expendable for the most part.
You're right on the receivers. Tight ends are are also receivers that are larger and have more blocking duties too.
Linemen correct too. They protect the QB on pass plays and open holes for backs on running plays.
Punters range from around half a million a year to 4 million a year, but contracts are very strange in the NFL.
Here's the punter salaries for 2018.
https://overthecap.com/position/punter/
Oh yeah that was the other thing, Running Back? Is a running back just a receiver that comes from the pack?
And how the fuck does the passing rule work because I saw someone hike it to a QB who passed it to someone else who threw it long. That's like NFL Street shit to me.
Half a mil for 10 minutes work a month and you don't even get brain damage out of it
You can pass forwards up to the line of scrimmage and anyone is allowed to do so. Once beyond the line, you may only make a Lateral, which is backwards in order to give the ball intentionally to someone else.
The play you refer to is called the Fleaflicker. The QB has to pass the ball backwards in order for the RB or WR to then throw it forwards. The downside is if a backwards pass is not caught, it's counted as a fumble and fair game for the defence to go and grab it.
Running backs main job is to take a handoff from the QB and run the ball. They can also catch passes too. Catching is more common these days so you'll see RB's ranked more in total yards than just running yards.
Passing is one forward pass allowed per play so if the QB passes it backwards then the player who catches it can throw it forward (so long as they're beind the line they started from in the first place). It's rare though and normally used as a trick to fool a defense. A player that catches a forward pass can also pass it backwards but that's very rare too.
You did if Sean Taylor was around:
https://media3.giphy.com/media/13pan8G2NkPbs4/giphy.gif
It was also in the pro bowl (all-star game) where any sort of tackle is pretty much banned.
This is quite possibly the greatest use of the lateral ever, by one of the top 2 receivers to ever take the field.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8o--gh5R98
Ed Reed loved a lateral, this was probably his best:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FB21lXIV2zc
Going back to the Browns, I heard last night that the Quarterback with the most wins in their home stadium since it opened in 1999 is Ben Roethlisberger.
Keenan Reynolds has been added to the Seahawks 53 man roster.
That the old navy Qb?
Yep.
Doug Baldwin will be out for about 4 weeks so called him up.
Just seen this:
Admittedly it was a designed screen, but it still looks horrible.
There's a gif a bit further down in the replies. It closes up pretty quickly but he really should be hitting him there. He ends up throwing to someone off the left of the screen.
The replies make you sad for the world.
RGIII again a healthy inactive. Just trade him for some magic beans, call up someone like Cyrus Jones from our practice squad and be done with it.
Our pass rush is going to fist Dalton tonight.
They struggled to block the Colts on Sunday and they've got fuck all for pass rush.
That looked like he tucked that and should be a fumble from butterfingers Green.
Is this, National drop the ball day?
Okay he didn't drop that.
Flacco :p
Flacco is a mong.
Not a pick by Weddle but it was close.
This is going be some shitfest by the looks of these opening few minutes.
Get Lemar in!
Mosley carted off, fucking hell.
:uhoh:
Seahawks have signed Mychal Kendricks on a 1 year deal.
Wonder how long they'll have him until he's in a cell.
Ravens are so horrible to watch on offence.
Our O-Line looks shaky as fuck tonight and Flacco is playing like he did last season.
Wow.
We really need to put Marlon Humphrey on AJ Green and not Tavon Young.
Young is great as a slot corner and not a shutdown man to man one.
All this is missing is Ross burning you for an 80 yarder.
Our offensive line is fucking sleeping tonight.
Skura and Alex Lewis are getting bullied.
Fuck AJ Green.
Yeah I've heard that Green guy is good. Maybe they should cover him.
I love John Brown.
Triple fucking covered and he somehow grabs it.
Just stop putting Lamar Jackson in ffs.
These gadget plays aren't working for dick.
It is becoming a bit of a joke now. Either put him in as QB or leave it.
Nice bit of shit officiating to get the Ravens a score.
Soon just looking at a QB will result in a flag.
Flacco just throwing at the ground now.
Flacco continuing to steal a living.
Pass interference? Lads.
That was a nice catch by Andrews.
ANDREWS not Anderson you fucking nonce, Aikman.
Refs trying their best to keep the Ravens in this.
Bone bruise for Mosley apparently. Could be out for 3 weeks or so.
Well that was shit.
Only positives were probably Andrews, Brown, Collins and Kenny Young. Our pass rush, secondary, O-Line and Flacco were all mince.
I wonder if it's Flacco that's causing the shite the Ravens often produce or if it's Harbaugh. The Superbowl year was great but they have a .500 record since. 2 play-off chokes right at the end of the final game lately too.
Maybe it's time for a change?
There will be a change if he doesn't make the playoffs.
This is his make or break year.
Flacco or Harbaugh?
Harbaugh.
Flacco is gone no matter what I feel. This will be the first time that we can cut him without crippling the team with dead money.
https://overthecap.com/player/joe-flacco/1383
We'd do a lot better cutting him the following season but I think they'll just roll with Loomar next year and be done with it.
What games are in Sky tomorrow? Game Pass are doing the blackouts this year.
Steelers chiefs, jags pats and cowboys Giants.
Happy days, cheers.
I think the blackout is only for 6pm and 9pm. All the TNF, SNF, and MNF are ok.
Really annoying that espn can't be assed to show the whole 3 hours of college game day. That's twice in three weeks is been partially papped.
They'll be using it as a time filler. Anything more popular than under fourteen sailing will outperform college helmetball here.
Some proper college football tackling on that TD from Iowa State :D
Looking forward to Auburn/LSU, Alabama/Ole Miss & Ohio State/TCU tonight, although I have no idea which ones I'll watch.
This Oklahoma team doesn't seem as complete as last year.
Looking forward to the auburn/lsu game. Would love to watch the Ohio state game but it's on the wrong channel and bt have a habit of cutting the end of games.
Must be odd being a college qb with a fuck load of baseball money sitting there on the table. He's like a little gadget running back though, he's so fast.
Solid start by auburn. Throwing a pick on about the third play. This is probably the best LSU team I've seen in the few years I've watched college football. And they don't have a stud like fournette or guice
They've run all over Auburn in the first half, and while there's no beast RB, they do look to have a couple of good ones. It also probably helps that they have a decent QB for once. Auburn do look to be coming back into it though, so we should have a good second half.
Just stuck LSU/Auburn on, decent game thus far?
What a catch by Williams that was.
That's brilliant.
Also that's a bullshit call, that was a catch.
It's tight. Lsu have been edging it but they're getting stifled.
Lsu qb has looked a lot better than I thought he would. Shame he's wasted his college career pissing about as a backup at Ohio state.
Lsu are winning the trenches thus far, which I don't think auburn expected.
I like these Auburn RB's.
Shivers is fucking tiny and not only does JaTarvious Whitlow have a great name but that play where he could have gone for -5 yards only to break 3 tackles to get a yard was great.
Whitlow also goes by Boobee, lol.
The wildcat
Auburn are giving this up.
This has been exactly the kind of game where the kicker misses the chip shot FG as time runs out.
Feel bar for Auburn but LSU had a really good second half.
LSU dominated most of the first half on the ground, but they let Auburn back into it when Joe Burrow forgot how to pass. They probably deserved the win though, so that's Auburn & Wisconsin both slipping down the rankings this week.
Coach O's voice will never not be horrifying/hilarious.
Ole Miss scoring on the first play of the game? Jordan Ta'amu is a pretty decent late round prospect for 2019 actually.
EDIT: Shootout alert.
I wasn't planning to watch another game but considering how many 'Bama players we've taken over the years I should watch.
What a play lol at 'Bama.
Brother vs brother
Imagine if the defensive brother fucking goes through the other one.
Woof.
Jerry Jeudy is the next one off the Alabama WR production line.
Browns are going to release Josh Gordon on Monday. Wonder what pushed them over in the end.
All set up for Dez to sign and lead them to glory.
FUCK.
That can't be it. After everything they put up a white lie is the straw that breaks the camel's back?
Wow, okay. Hopefully it's because they're the Browns & not because his personal life has fallen apart again.
Speaking of falling apart, this Alabama/Ole Miss game is over inside the first quarter.
EDIT: Doesn't sound good for Josh.
There has to be more than the early reports.
That statement suggests there must be.
Alabama on pace for over 1000 yards of offence, lol.
Early reports saying they were convinced he was high when he turned up Saturday. Given his past and the injury which appeared overnight, they decided they were done.
Rapport is saying it's not drug related but a local Browns reporter is saying possibly drunk/high.
How I understand it is that they didn't know where this hamstring injury suddenly appeared from and that he was "not himself" yesterday. This made them realise they could never really trust him again and they decided it was finally time.
I also see there are supposedly multiple teams ready to trade him. He'd be a perfect Cowboy.
Still in the first half of my recording of the Bama game and I'm convinced tua is going to win the heisman. This bama team is far too good to have a properly competent thrower at the helm. He's going to put up monstrous numbers, even if he just passes to jerry jeudy alone.
Gotta hope that Georgia, Clemson or LSU can keep it close enough so bamas shit kicker can give them a chance.
Browns don't want to trade to an AFC team apparently (because Gordon would make it hard for them to beat the Patriots...) so Niners and Cowboys are the most likely apparently.
He’d be a perfect fit in Dallas.
Just how Jerry Jones likes 'em.
A backwater environment like Green Bay would suit his troubled lifestyle.
No cast option on game pass. Piece of shit.
Josh Allen is the 18th starting QB for the Bills in the last 22 years.
What a franchise.
Fitzmagic is even making Desean Jackson look elite.
Fucking Redzone, they go quad box and you see Desean streaking away but fuck that let's see Rodgers first snap because he's got a KNEE BRACE ON WHAT A MODERN DAY HERO.
Fitzmagic :hail: They should just cut Jameis now & let him guide them to the SuperBowl.
Chiefs are so dangerous from kick returns.
You've either got Tyreek Hill who is probably the fastest guy in the league (eat a dick John Ross) or De'Anthony 'Black Mamba' Thomas who is elusive as fuck.
If Scott Hansen thinks that was anything other than intentional he’s an idiot - like fuck do the Chiefs put Thomas out there to block for Tyreek.
Michael Thomas seems to have caught AJ Green hands :uhoh:
Ebron running wild now he’s a Colt.
Mike Williams doing what he does as well.
That fake by the Titans
Kevin Byard is great.
That type of play is the only way they’re going to score today, to be fair.
I believe in Gabbert.
I so nearly switched my RB pick to Ajayi. He’s now questionable to return so I’m pretty glad I didn’t.
Geronimo Allison does something useful shocker.
The Chiefs are going to the SuperBowl & Pat Mahomes is the MVP.
Maybe Darnold needs to throw a pick to actually get good.
Laquon Treadwell finally on the board.
Darnold’s gonna throw at least 15 picks this year.
Fucking hell that's a depressing stat. Packers haven't stopped a team in the red zone since 2016.
The one thing this season is showing is that Dom Capers wasn't the problem.
Jesus Christ Titans, you finally woke up.
GABBERT!
He's back bitches.
Look at how lethal he is.
Is Mariota active?
Good news, the Bills are still garbage.
The Steelers are seething :harold:
Mahomes is looking like Deshaun Watson last season.
Deshaun Watson is looking like Johnny Manziel.
Mahomes is on the DeShaun Watson path right now. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s still doing this after teams have got 5-6 games of film on him.
Adams is really good at making defenders miss.
Cam Newton knocked out.
What a fucking hit :D
That's an ejection.
Andy Reid's Arrowhead Express is full steam ahead.
That's an ejection.
Helmet to helmet.
Watson is fucking garbage right now.
Shit going down in the Atlanta/Carolina game.
Kazee’s getting ejected for sure, and probably a couple of others for the brawl.
That’s a cracking pick from Adoree Jackson to be fair. As for the Saints, we’re just chucking the ball on the floor like it’s hotter than the sun. I should’ve picked Cleveland.
Watson has fucked it.
Football
Smith should of got ejected for being a muppet there.
Not to panic Mahow, Newton's alive. Should of gone via concussion protocol.
Melvin
The Bills are going to get crushed by 30+pts every week by the look of it.
We just took out Amendola :|
The stories of Jimmy Graham being finished seem to be accurate.
We're a pathetic mess the first two weeks of every season.
It was nice of the Saints to show support for him because it appears they're completely finished too.
Edit- Regarding Jimmy, of course.
Two bullshit interference calls on that one.
Of course losing to the Dolphins is a Jets thing to do.
Nothing to see here lads.
Somebody give FitzMagic a Super Bowl ring.
Fitzmagic's trick appears to be making Winston's job disappear.
What the fuck is going on with Tampa Bay? :cab:
Hopkins
I should be glad for that roughing the passer call but this new rule is absolute bullshit. He just tackled Rodgers.
Josh Allen  You can see why everyone ignored all the bad stuff when he has an arm like that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVBIfSt0lAo
Fitzmagic for MVP.
My brain. It hurts.
Jake Elliot :harold:
Is it me or did Okafor hit Tyrod helmet to helmet?
Bills have actually scored a TD.
I knew I should've picked Cleveland.
Zane Gonzales is getting cut with Gordon on Monday.
Apparently Derrick Henry has 8 passing yards. They’re really just trying anything to get out of this one.
Taysom Hill
How many QBs have returned kicks before, other than Joe Webb?
Bills player just got hit in the head (his helmet came off) with a helmet.
Fuuuuuuuuuck.
Apparently blood is gushing from his head.
Well that is very not good. Does sound like the wrong call, mind, but that's not really all that important in this case.
At least he's walking.
Can we just mention that Xavien Howard is quietly a really good corner?
2 field goals and a PAT missed by Zane Gonzales.
He's the new Aguayo. Not going to make a difference though, we've just been miserable.
He's the only one who's going to come out of this looking good.
Well, Brees & Michael 'ten catch' Thomas too, except for all the fumbling.
How do they not have a camera down the goal line (for reviews)? It seems that'd be the first place you'd want one when the issue is breaking the plain.
Shady just got squashed.
As if the Bills could get any worse.
Jamison Crowder currently has more rushing yards than Kareem Hunt :D
What a catch by Robinson there.
Okay, this production from Mahomes is completely unsustainable. It might be even more insane than Watson last year. It's evidence of how much influence the college game is having on the NFL though - Dwayne Haskins has been doing almost the same thing for Ohio State.
Browns are always going to Browns it up aren't they?
Let's go Marcus Williams
I await the inevitable turnover here.
Packers defense is so fucking bad.
I like that Matt Ryan has realised his arm's done so he's just trying to run it instead.
Diggs
Mahomes has a chance of most TD's in a game now.
I think the way to beat KC is going to be to not bother putting any lineman on the field & just dropping eleven guys into coverage. It's not like they're even trying to run the ball anyway.
If we thought the hype for Watson was bad last year, it's going to be even more out of control for Mahomes.
Gabbert :D
In before a Browns TD.
What a fucking pass by Tyrod.
Yeah, that's why you haven't been on the field CJ.
Missed :D
Gonzalez :D
He's so fucking shit.
See you later Zane :D
I'm kinda rooting for another tie now.
Fucking hell. Zane Gonzalez is just the epitome of the Browns.
Packers awful sloppy on offense. Killed with penalties and three times Rodgers had to burn a timeout to stop the play clock reaching 0.
Tucker would kick that in Mahow's wet dreams.
Was genuinely going to ask earlier if anyone had ever gone 0-0-2 but thought it was so unlikely.... fucking hell.
Cousins :face:
Please don't lose to the Browns with 20 seconds left.
Haha the useless twat finally does something useful.
Please miss.
Sending Zane Gonzalez out from 52? lol.
What a man.
Get fucked.
Maybe Josh Gordon could play kicker?
Watson you twat :D
Watson :D
Fucking hell Browns, what a way to lose it.
Watson what are you doing you clown...
He missed to the left, he missed to the right, that Zane Gonzalez, his kicking is shite
poor guy
Christian McCaffrey has FOURTEEN receptions for over a hundred yards.
Packers just got robbed with a bollocks penalty call.
Buffalo have given up 6 sacks in both games so far this season :harold:
Yeah, that's a(nother) terrible roughing call.
Thielen
Holy crap.
No idea how Thielen came down with that.
Diggs
Cousins
That is some throw and catch.
Such a bad defense. And to think people blamed Capers.
I think Michael Thomas & Stefon Diggs might be my dream WR duo.
MINDGAMES are happening.
Icing actually worked :D
I wish icing was banned. It's such a shit tactic.
EDIT: That's why you do it though, I guess :D
79pts & counting in the KC game. They may as well just wear the Kansas college team uniforms & be done with it.
51 TDs in the early games. Roughly 38 of them came in the KC/Pittsburgh game.
Carlson :D
He can join Zane Gonzalez on the scrap heap.
You know, I hear Dan Bailey needs a job...
Kicking has been awful today across the league.
Keelan Cole has glue on his gloves :|
That's a pretty good catch.
Glad I left Keelan Cole on the bench today
Did Vontae Davis retire at half time? :D
That's amazing. :D
Apparently so :D
JoJo Natson's pretty quick.
Oh shit.
Jaguars have learnt from the AFC Championship game.
They look the real deal this time.
Holy fuck.
Lions defensive holding (not even at the play) rules out a huge pick.
Good to see Demaryius still has butter hands.
When Gruden gets sacked
Has Gordon gone anywhere yet? Green Bay so desperately need some speed at receiver that I'd take the chance.
how in fucks name would you even begin to start getting into and understanding college football in the uk?
also, any decent websites/blogs/podcasts i should be checking out as a fairly uninformed nfl fan?
I've no idea how I got to know how it works myself, I think it just came from watching and reading stuff on a Monday. That said I probably don't really understand it any more as it was the BCS system when I used to be able to watch.
EDIT: I presume you mean the system rather than the rule differences as it's almost identical to the football they play in the NFL.
.
They have games every week on ESPN and it's not hugely different to the pro game bar some rule differences.
Wentz is back and will start on Sunday.
Dolphins 2-0 lads
Antonio Brown took the bait nicely there.
https://coedbc.files.wordpress.com/2...jpg?quality=88
https://coedbc.files.wordpress.com/2...jpg?quality=88
:D
Steelers always get butthurt.
ESPN's website is a decent enough place to start for college football news. The 24/7 Sports college podcast, the Stick To Football podcast & ESPN's College Football Live are the three that I have on my podcast subscriptions, and if you want to watch games/highlights there are plenty of channels on YouTube (Ev Fed, as he's currently known, uploads basically every college game each week in full, and rtsportsuploads tends to do a couple of big games in condensed form each week).
It's basically the same game, except you only have to get one foot in bounds on a catch instead of two, they have better safety rules for helmet hits & kickoffs, and anyone half decent will get a billion yards every game because nobody can tackle or cover.
I don’t even get how Americans care about it let alone you lot. It would be like me caring how my university’s football team is doing despite the fact I’m no longer there.
Plenty of Americans probably follow Man United but I doubt any follow a university team. The concept is just weird to me. Even when I went to university I didn’t give a shit about any of their sports teams.
There aren't university soccer teams in England that are near the same scale as a professional team. That's not the case in the US, the college game is huge.
There's a huge difference with a university in the US getting 90,000 in and a huge TV deal to university sports in the UK which consists of 3 men and a dog watching a kickabout.
Yea, obviously it’s much bigger, but I guess what I mean is I don’t get why it got to that stage and why people cared enough for it to grow the way it has. I guess the fact it feeds directly into the NFL helps.
I bet on the Lions to lose, not because I particularly care I just have a friend who's a diehard Detroit Lions fan, and they lose but didn't cover the spread. I'm mad.
So the Vikings cut Daniel Carlson & signed Dan Bailey.
The Browns, meanwhile, cut Zane Gonzalez & signed Greg Joseph, a UDFA from Florida Atlantic who couldn't even make 70% of his kicks there :D
I'd have rather had Blair Walsh or Cairo Santos tbh.
I've just read an article about Kirk Cousins and the 8 million support staff he hires. I like how no-ones asking how he possibly afforded any of this stuff as a college athlete.
Apparently Zane has a groin injury & the Browns made him kick through it both games :D
Patriots closing in on Josh Gordon.
Brady with a legitimate weapon is a fucking frightening prospect.
I'm sure there are examples, but what dickheads have the Pats had where the combination of Bellichick, Brady and other locker-room leaders hasn't got them in line at least for a bit?
5th round pick.
Albert Haynesworth
Corey Coleman released, again.
The fact there's a clause in that Patrs trade for if he misses 10 games speaks volumes though.
Breshad 'Dildo fingers' Perriman has signed with the Redskins.
That's about as damning an indictment of the Redskins WRs as you can get.
They've also signed Michael Floyd.
From trying to grab Gordon to a player who can't catch and a WR who no one wants because he's a prick.
Good job he wasn't watching this.
So the Browns are in town and I'm wide awake :eyemouth:
I went for a piss just after the kick off and I've come back to Browns punting.
What a brilliant drive that obviously was, congrats Cleveland.
Crowd going mental for Baker but he'd get eaten alive by this defence. The Browns O-Line is a mess.
 Mahow
The Mayfield era has begun.
.
The Browns O-LINE was shit when I was watching. They probably grew tired of Tyrod so were letting rushers through.
"Browns v Jets (TNF) - God help me if we lose to this shambolic state of a franchise."
Cunts.
Anyone watched Rudy before?
South bend sounds shit.
It's a weird world with a good Browns defence, good young QB and knowing they should have handily beaten the Saints if not for their kicker.
And taken down the Steelers...
Steelers are doing a decent enough job imploding themselves.
The browns should really be 3-0.
Where do you find what games are live on Sky?
Again, gameday starts at 4
So I've just paid the espn player extension add in thing.
Actually probably should've checked it doesn't come with
My bt sport package. Don't think so, but whatever, means I can stream a game and watch whatever game is on tv.
Looking forward to bama v Texas a&M later. A&M looked really good in their loss against Clemson. Hopefully they can make a reasonable game of it. Also would've be the last of jalen hurts eligibility if he wants to redshirt this year to retain 2 years if and when he moves at the end of the season.
Has there been an unusually high number of players signing for teams who then bin them half an hour later, or is it always like this?
At this stage of the season loads of players get brought in for a look but they'd be a long shot. More will stick once there's more injuries.
No trial system then? It makes everyone involved seem a little shambolic.
That's what happens when you have contacts that aren't worth the paper they're written on. It probably costs them a $10-25k signing bonus to take a flier on a guy. If they like what they see they've hit a jackpot, if they don't set the world alight, it's easy to write it off.
Given the "what can you do for me now" mindset if the guy comes in and doesn't hit the ground running with the play book or hits a drop/fumble etc. See you later.
Three plays into the A&M game.
Play 1: Texas A&M run for 0 years from their own 25.
Play 2: Texas A&M throw an interception. Alabama take over on the Texas A&M 30 yard line.
Alabama Play 1: 30 yard TD pass.
Well, the idea of a tight game was nice. Channel 423.
Tua is just so fucking good.
When is he draft eligible? I don't think he's the tallest but he's so accurate. He's just ripping defences apart. A&M haven't even been that bad here.
He'll be able to come out in 2020. That class could also have Jake Fromm, Jacob Eason, Dwayne Haskins (who could actually come out this year), Joe Burrow & McKenzie Milton, so it could be a fun one.
Glad I turned on just in time for the Tua TD/Surtain INT combo.
Next year. 2020. Injury aside, he's your #1 pick replacing Eli manning, Phillip rivers or Ben Roethlisberger.
Alabama. Fucking Jesus. These cats are good this year.
His brother Taulia is committed to Alabama to play QB from next year as well :uhoh:
Tagovailoa.
Only his second year out so won't be til 2020. Lot could change by then and he could be another Chris Weinke.
Which is why jalen hurts has to transfer. If he thinks he can play in the NFL already then he can play this season, transfer as a grad and play a final season at Texas or someone and then try go pro. There's no way hurts is still on the roster next spring.
If tuas brother is half as good then bama are set for a good few years. Why would any other qbs even consider going there? Career suicide. Go to another power 5 school and actually play.
Which reminds me- the five star recruit who panned bama when he realised jalen hurts etc was going to screw him is now starting at arizona state i think. See also burrows at LSU.
Right now Jalen Hurts is going to go the same way as JT Barrett & Quinton Flowers, and either be a third string QB or a shit running back at the NFL level. If he has any ambition of playing QB at the next level he has to transfer & show he can actually do the job.
I kinda feel the same way about Kelly Bryant, but at the same time he could easily be Russell Wilson.
Did anyone see the Bills fuck up today? They posted a tracker of the plane flying to Minnesota. Only problem is they weren't in the right city. Or State.
Le'Veon Bell is on the trade block.
I think they're happy to roll with Conner and aren't going to match Bell's demands so makes sense.
Wonder which team will bite.
Texans are the current Browns.
8 game losing streak.
GamePass not working on TV, mobile or laptop
Bills :O
7-0 up and just got a redzone turnover.
Minneapolis Miracle v2?
:uhoh:
I really like the look of Saquon Barkley.
The patience on that TD run was great.
Newton really doesn't like to hand it off to the RB by the goal line.
Almost as good as Emmanuel Sanders.
17-0 Bills :|
What the fuck is happening?
