I did do about 2 or 3 months of playing the full 40 games back in '17. Your entire weekend has to be based around it. Even then you needed to hope for some rage quits and be prepared to do it yourself.
If you could make it higher end of Gold 1 or to Elite 3 it was so worth playing those extra games, but I'd constantly choke good starts. I once needed 4 wins from 8 games to get into Elite 3. I won 2 and then lost 5 on the bounce. Choked it.

Sums it up for me as well. I hit a nice routine of around 20 games, post-Xmas last year, once they reduced the wins needed to qualify for the following week to 11. It took the pressure off and kept me at a >70% win ratio as I wasn't burning out. I'd lament not playing more ads I was in an Elite 2 ratio most of the time, but I knew I'd have dropped to Gold 2 or 1 as the games wore on.

Got Hulk for 11.5k :)

When’s the weekly cut off point for the division rivals rewards? I’ve played all my squad battles games so thought I’d turn my hand to that.

1 day and 13 hours.

I am currently set for 44,000 coins or 2 mega packs and 2 rare players packs (untradeable). Not bad considering I have played around 7 games.

Sitting comfortably in T1 and on 1,100 fit champs points. Still not comfortable with this timed finishing though.

Timed finishes are a load of wank so far. Think I've maybe had a couple actually go in. The rest just get spazzed over the bar.

Skill rating of 1410 for division rivals puts me in D5.

Closing down always pressure is the way gorward on this. There are no negatives to it. All my games involve me trying to string togethe 3 passes and the AI or online opp winning the ball back in their attacking third. Ive even tried using the long ball to 3 target men up front once i win possession. Don't work...

Timed finishing is super sticky too

First observation. Block shots are much more realistic though. Crossing and headers not so much

The constant pressure helps you tackle as it teleports your player to the man in possession

Just got Isco from an 83+ loan pack.

This shit is hard as fuck for me tbh. The timed finishing thing is goofy as shit. Had a goal last night that was a red finish and looked awful, but then I watch the replay (squad battles) and it made it look like a perfectly placed finish in the corner lmao

My suspicion is that they'll make the game a tad easier when the first update rolls round.

The gameplay on this is fucking abysmal at the moment, and feels completely different from the really rather good demo.

Seriously considering just binning it until about three patches in.

Its not that bad. It has a big learning curve which Im OK with.

I'm getting slightly better when doing the timed finishes but the easiest way to do it is by looking at the shooters foot which is unnatural for me. I tend to look at the goal to see where to place it.

I use the co-op camera settings so I cant even see the shooters foot.

I'm alright with timed finishing, I just can't break down defences often enough. It veers from being really satisfying when I do and score to be absolutely bloody infuriating.

I got the perfectly timed finished trophy with with Martial cutting in from the left in true henry like :drool:

So through all of my pack spending and selling and what have you I'm around 350k in coins.

Problem is now I'm shit scared to buy anything substantial because a better TOTW/Special card will come out of that player and then what the fuck will I do but be mad.

There's only really two options. Firstly just don't give a shit about it or you're going to have to be a trader. With that you're always going to have to anticipate and get in/out at the right time or lose a lot.

I prefer option 1.

For instance I bought TOTY Kane last year for 1.6 IIRC and he ended the game at about 400k or so. No fucks given though because he was worth it to me completely.

Haven't touched FUT yet as I've been enjoying Career Mode. Got a sweet little team coming together with Leverkusen and I'm pretty sure my scout just found a wonderkid Newgen

Think I'm going to give career mode a serious go this year and I'm eyeing up Lyon, Paris FC or Fiorentina.

Lyon is the easiest as their whole team seems to be wonderkids and they have money.

Paris will take the longest to really get going and be harder.

Fiorentina I like due to my favourite ever FM save.

Leaning towards one of the latter two, I might even end up doing both.

I wanted to buy Mathias De Ligt but bastard Eibar got in when I was waiting for more money to come in.

The 'dribbles completed' stat seems a little broken. It seems to credit a player with a dribble every time they receive possession, so I've just had CL Arthur complete 28 dribbles in a squad battle.

That's not far off half what Leroy Sane completed in the whole of last season.

My copy has been shipped and will arrive tomorrow or Friday. I can't wait.

Any tips on where I should start this time around? I'm very much of the Yev school of putting no money in and building it up.

Between loyalty packs and the coin bonuses in the store you can have a nifty little side put together after about five games so I don't get why people hammer two hundred quid in at the start.

I haven't played Fifa since '16, how do you get the icon players? Is it just gold packs or some other way?

You have to get stupidly lucky in packs.

They did also bring out an SBC for each one about 2/3rds of the way through last years game.

Ben Yedder is down to 90k now, which I'll have with one more win ahead of the division rivals rewards tonight.

Think I'll leave until Squad Battles rewards come out on Sunday and try and snipe one for a bargain then.

I will always take the coins as my pack luck is awful. I have however packed 83 Martial and 82 Arnautovic so far in the 20 or so packs ive opened in FIFA 19 which is a decent start. My team currently looks like this

Only Tahanbakish and Torreia have been purchased. Everyone else has been packed. Martial will be sold next week just before weekend league opens.

Is there a guide somewhere for getting started on UT? Haven't played for a couple of versions but should I be working towards finishing all of the SBCs to start with? The gold ones look like a fairly large commitment.

Really enjoying the gameplay so far, have they nerfed pace this time? Glenn Murray was one of my first gold players and it feels like slower players can actually compete this year. Got torn apart by Giroud earlier also, he didn't score but spent the whole game knocking my defence off the ball and laying it off to teammates.

Youtube videos are probably a good start. I would try and do the welcome challenges.

Took the 53k and bought IF Anderson Talisca for 47k. Selling his NIF for another 3k will mean I have 30k in the bank, with plenty of high rated and IF players in the club. Left contemplating whether to bring in IF Ben Yedder over Gameiro and whether Telles-Miranda or Dalbert-Manolas looks a better combo in my serie A/CSL team.
