It's not so much the nationality with him either. McDowell is a bit of a legend but, where he wears it well and has a bit of swagger, McIlroy just seems like a petulant little brat.

Pity that drive didn't go a foot further to make it interesting.
Glad that Mickleson didn't win.
Our new Swedish overlords though
Looks like a hell of a final round. Glad Stenson got a major win, and it's a good one, too.
That's easily the best final round of golf I've ever seen in a major, probably the best two, although Mickelson was aided by some crowd assistance and remarkable scrambling. Stenson must have made about 3 genuine errors in the round and two of those were leaving very long putts a bit short. Felt like he hit about 17 greens in regulation and the fact that he meffed a couple of makeable 6-footers that would have been for a 61/62 in the final analysis is mad. I guess that must be at least the equal lowest final round score at a major.
Yep. It's only happened once before. And nobody's ever gotten 62 in a major.
Love this Woburn course. Do they have the men's there ever or is that exclusively links now?
They had the British Masters on it last year. The Open has always been exclusively links.
Yeah there was something in my head telling me that alright.
Because of Wentworth the PGA would be my favourite outside the majors but a regular Masters at Woburn would help too. Is there another tournament that's been there too? I've one in my head from a while back but it's not the Masters one.
There used to be a Euro tour event there every year but not for a decade or so. The reformed British Masters is going to move around as well, this year it's at Grove hosted by Luke Donald in what promises to be an absolute thrill a minute.
Matsuyama
Fat Pat on the march, come on you burger-eating ridiculous cunt of a man.
He's a hero who would fit in so well here.

Well not anymore.
Mickelson currently playing the best opening hole in the history of golf. Road, cart path, someone's backyard . . .
:D
Westy on THE CHARGE. Realistically, what kind of lead does he need going into a 4th round to have a chance? 6 shots? It'd be Darren Clarke at The Open times a million.
He's a man of the people who plays in and amongst them.
The crowd cheering only for it to end up in the backyard was amazing.
I reckon the scale of his collapse is proportionate to how likely he is to win. Has he ever taken a decent lead (3 shots+) into a final round? My memory of Turnberry is fairly hazy as I was at the course and didn't have up to date leaderboards very often, but he seemed to be well on top there at different points and I remember going away thinking he should have won.
Yeah, I draw a bit of a blank on Westwood final rounds. He very often seems to be in the position where you think if he can stick a 67 or somesuch in then he'll be right there, only for him to plod round with a disappointing 73. Agree on the collapse to prospect of winning ratio, which makes me think he could onmly ever do it in a Faldo-esque 18 pars sort of way, which would either need a big lead, or for everyone else to have a meltdown. Not sure which is less likely really. Probably the 18 pars.
I always wanted Westwood to win one, but even more so if it's true that it costs Mike Ashley two million quid.
To fair, 90% of golfers, when given a sniff of victory, completely shit themselves. There are even some with multiple wins who do it. It's the ones who don't who are remarkable.
He was always decked in Dunlop too, so I'd imagine so.
That was some recovery 2nd from Day.
Absolutely serious pressure putt from McIlroy there too. Outstanding after that bunker shot.
EDIT: Though the 18th was a bit lol. Beautiful.
Not as fun when Rory misses the cut.
There's something special about him going full mong on the final day.
Branden Grace is ONIT here.
My money's on Henrik.
What could have been if Matsuyama could putt.
Definitely not leaving this one before it's over.
If Summerhays rocks up with two late birdies, posts 11 and wins, everyone will cry and it will be glorious.
Jimmy Dubs alas has a bottle job in him.
American golf fans are such tossbags.
Summer Hayes is such a shit surname, it's the full name of a teenage female.
Mark Roe is the worst commentator in any sport, by far. I wish he would fuck off.
Butch might be the best. ATTABOY RICKIE
I tend to agree with Jimmy on JW. It's going all too well right now to last.
Matsuyama could have carded a 61 today if he was able to putt. He keeps grazing the hole.
I'd quite like Walker to win but the only pity would be that it would knock Matt Kuchar, the weakest loseriest tit around, out of the Ryder Cup team.
Rickie Fowler is going to need a pick for that. lol, tosser.
Matsuyama again :D
Starting to look like nobody has it in them to put any real pressure on Walker.
Fucking hell, I don't understand how he's been so shit on the green. Probably the jynx of putting money on.
It's going to need Walker to go wobbly arse, no sign of it yet though. His classic bottle jobs are usually round-long so he might be alright.
Day's shots look like he's protecting a 4 shot lead.
I get some money if Matsuyama finishes in the top 6.
No birdies for anyone please.
This promised so much :(
The PGA is generally the worst major, as they set the courses up noticeably easier than the other three. There have been some exceptions. Like that time some passing burger flipper took Tiger Woods into a playoff. Or the one when Dustin Johnson spaffed a two shot lead in an unmarked bunker.
Walker has looked in complete control through all this. The body language as much as the shots.
Wouldn't mind a playoff here.
