That's 4 losses in a row now to go 11-13 from 11-9. I could have won 3 of them and should have won 2.
Another one on penalties. I don't understand how they work at all. I aim a little bit on the thumb stick to the left or right and it goes 10 yards wide.
A chair is about to find its way into my tv screen at this rate. So triggered it's untrue.
Unless you have to play because of time constraints, never play angry or when you've lost 3 in a row.
Take a break and come back later as you're only ever going to lose more.
I'm going for the fight through it approach, with a possible chance of deleting my account, which if I'm honest would be doing me a favour (If I had the balls I'd do it anyway) This game is such a steaming pile of shit it isn't true.

The list is endless.
Switched back to 4-3-2-1/3-5-2 and two easy rage quit wins in 10 minutes makes it 13-13 and 1 more win needed to end this hell.

Just finished my last game to get 14-14 and it sums it up perfectly. I won 6-2, with 6 finesse shots from outside the box. Six. Now I know it's never going to be super-realistic, but how the fuck is that still in the game? They've supposedly patched it at least twice now. I'll tell you exactly, the game engine is so broken that if you take timed-finesses away then there'd be no goals. The monstrous auto-defending from the AI would put paid to that, which they can't fix because it's so integral to the engine.
Things wouldn't be so bad if they haven't nerfed pace so much, but having done that they're hardly going to roll it back now. So whatever happens, I think we're stuck with a piece of shit until FIFA20 at least.
Some of this wank is masked when you're winning (I'd be bullshitting if I didn't admit that there are enjoyable moments in that), but when you play 30+ games of this (I did some Squad Battles to get Elite 1) in just over 24 hours it really hits home how horrible it is. And the reality is that while I'm still shit, I'm better now than I've ever been at FIFA, but I enjoyed actually playing 17 and 18 so much more. They were fun, this is turd.
I totally agree on the broken mechanic that is the finesse, but not that there’d be no goals without it. I’ve scored 4 of them all weekend, as I never try for it, just using when I would have in Fifa’s of the past (used to score a lot of them with Henry as it felt natural to do it with him), I’ve scored most of my goals driving into the corners.
Finesse is one mechanic that is broken, but the determination of so many people to just play to broken mechanics, spurred on by youtubers, is where a lot of the mess is exacerbated. Personally, I’d love a nerf (in fact I’d rather just get rid) of holding A to jockey. Again, I’m biased as I don’t use it, but that’s truly, far more than AI controlled defenders, a big part of why ultra defensive creeps get away with not actually tackling.
Ultra pressing I’m fine with- it’s as effective as in real life but also as risky and can be played around and exposed.

Played a few games and the win streak ends at 13 to take me to 13-1. Quite an annoying game against an equally good opponent. I thought when Crespo scored in the 93rd minute I had it because he also went down to 10 just before after hacking down Neymar when he was one on one.
When Pogba and then Martinez turned the game in his favour I thought I was going to lose a shit house of a game but then Crespo and Raul put me ahead only for him to get into my box and square it to Keane for a tap in.
Then had a corner right at the death and I was going to go short so I could whip it in (score a lot more) but he had that covered and Varane climbed above everyone to power it in. I knew if it would go to penalties I'd lose so thank fuck for that.

Wow, marathon day finally over and what a journey it was.
From where you left me last I moved to 18-3. From here it was tough. I got matched up against Fully(formerly of Team Epsilon. I've played him before in the WL back in '17 and it didn't go well then). I fought a very good fight with him and had it at 2-2, however I lofted a cross to Raul only for him to hit the post, but have it go right across the line. Straight after this I was matched with who I think was Castro. Another closely fought game with some bobbles that went heavily my way. His Icons were overwhelming at first but I managed to play into it. I ended up taking this one 2-0.
From there it was as if the opponents had kicked up a notch. Things move towards the win one, lose one territory. But a few quality games from me saw me move to 22 wins with 3 games left.
Fatigue had long since set in, however some of the names in the TOTW this week mean it could have been worth the push. A 6-5 loss and then a 5-4 loss knocked me right down to Earth. However luckily I managed to clutch up in the final game and after scoring my 2nd goal in the first 20 mins, my opponent quit.
Final record of 23-7. 70k much needed coins come my way later in the week.

Great finish Fox. That’s a horrible number of games to play in a day. I had 5 Rage quits in my favour today and I was flagging by the end as once you get to +7 and beyond, all games are some degree of tough in my opinion - and then the rage quits stop, and grinding out a win... ugh.
Looking forward to a weekend off next as I’m away next weekend. Which kinda sums up where I am right now. I’m determined to get back to Elite 3 at least once this year, but it’ll need to come soon as we’re approaching the months where I normally just focus on qualifying for the next weekend as quickly as possible and then tapping out. I reckon I have three or four 25+ game weekends left until TOTS, when I’ll likely ramp back up a bit in the hype all month.

Just moved to 4-2-3-1 in game in SB, put Marcelo at LCAM and brought on Zlatan to be RCAM to abuse the crosses and get the Vinicius loan quickly.
It's so much more broken than finesse shots, 5 assists from Marcelo with 4 of those going to Zlatan and it could have been more had I not placed so many headers right at the keeper.
If you need that swap deals player III this week just put your best crosser at one outside CAM with Fellaini at the opposite side CAM and you'll get that done easily.

Aouar is actually looking like a better CAM than Suarez right now, but I'm mindful that Suarez & Kondogbia are pretty much guaranteed +2 boosts before Feb ends, which takes the sheen off Aouar and Ndombele.
I think I could just do the Aouar-Ndombele build this Thursday.
Retaining Suarez and Kondogbia would require another month or so.

I've broken down my WL.
14-1 in the first 15 and then 9-6 in the second stint. The quality of opponent in the 2nd half was a marked improvement on the first. I reckon I was undeserving of 3, possibly 4 of the losses, whilst I think I won 2 games I had no right doing so, so it almost balances out.
I learned a lot more about the team in the 2nd set of games than the first. The main areas for concern are Fabinho and Sane. The former is a nice presence in the middle but Ballack is much better at pretty much everything. The newly released Rijkaard is probably a perfect fit in a replacement here, but does cost 1m.
Sane also let me down numerous times through on goal. The worst one saw me go through and I waited for his keeper movement, then aimed for the other side. Sane hit it down the middle and it tamely went into his keepers arms.
I thought my standard Marcelo would start to struggle now but he's more than holding is own, as is Walker, although I do prefer Sandro and Lala in either position.
Zlatan is an odd one. I've been swapping him and Tevez in and out a bit during the weekend and I'm still not sure who I prefer. I still think I like Hazard better than both as my CAM, but the version that would fit into the team would cost about 1m.
My favourite goal was from Ballack. It was a central, but slightly to the right free kick about 25 yards out. I was 1-0 up but this guy was moving his keeper well to keep me at bay. I had an inkling he'd do it again so I aimed a power free kick at the side his keeper was stood. Surely enough as Ballack took his long run up his keeper shuffled over to the other side and the ball was slammed into the net where his keeper just was. Instant rage quit.
I've 110k in the bank now. I'll get 70k for the finish along with a 100k pack and the TOTW pack. Assuming all goes for discard value I'll get over 100k to add in. If there are no pulls then I'll sell Sane on and likely bring Felipe Anderson in.
It's going to be annoying to miss out on some of these FFS players SBCs, but others are a bloody rip off.
If you're using Zlatan, just use those L1 crosses (LB X I think on Xbone) to him at the far post and you'll score for fun.
It's a cheap as fuck tactic though.
I've pretty much unlearned timed finesse shots from the edge of the area and it's got me 2 Elite finishes in 3 weeks. I don't wanna be learning another abusable game mechanic.
That article you guys posted about how matchmaking is basically sorted to make sure you just win lose win lose win lose win lose felt like the most obvious but mindblowing thing ever.
It makes absolute sense and it's partly why I soldiered through the 4 loss streak I had in weekend league towards the end as I knew sooner rather than later I'd face people I was better than. It's happened in every weekend league I've played this year, including one time where I swear I was either facing a deliberately shit bot or someone so pissed they couldn't see.
In fact, almost all of my weekend league games fall into the category of "games I know I'm going to lose or win after 5 minutes on the clock".
I also think it's why the 45/90 minutes conceding thing exists.
It's programmed into the game and not user related as it happens all the time in Squad Battles. I can be 8-0 up and I know if I don't concentrate hard and do everything possible when the cpu launches its last attack I'm going to concede. Hell, even if I do I might anyway.
And I almost feel bad cause I've told my friends that maybe it's just their mentality that they start thinking they're going to concede so they start playing too hard and fuck it up but it's LITERALLY being coded into the game.
Don't get me wrong, there's obviously a huge skill gap still in the game (Fox is still going to pwn me no matter how much these shenanigans exist), but I'd be staggered if EA weren't employing them.
We're all basically Hamsters on a wheel in one big money making racket.
I've never really tried PES but it almost makes me want to if I'm honest.
It'd be different if they did idk literally anything to mostly any other mode in the game.
They gave us the option to make our own kits in Pro Clubs and have a fancy cut scene for contract renewals and transfers in career.

By the looks of that and according to what Nepenthez has said on Twitter, timed finesse from the edge of the box is now unreliable. I'm a fan of the change, but not when they're done it.
You've given players 4 months to get used to this version of the game and now changed it quite heavily if reports are to be believed.
Also TOTY prices are at a massive low since they came out. Marcelo below 1m, VVD is 1.3, Varane 1.5 and Ramos 1.8.
I totally disagree in MP. People change their tactics and their headspace and it can be seen as clear as day. I see myself doing it, and others. There are the tell tale signs as the full backs move up, the wings stay forward and the pressure on possession ramps up. The latter was generally used by people in previous interactions to 'prove momentum' - that they couldn't pass, or had less time on the ball... Now we have dynamic custom tactics, we see that high pressure is a default of the Ultra Attacking stance (and press after possession loss on attacking) - that's going to affect those feelings of pressure.Quote:

For the matchmaking - it's been spoken of for 3 years. EA is a vast company. Unofficial posts from their staff have said it's been used primarily in Mobile gaming (can't cite - it's 2-3 years ago ffs).
And dynamic difficulty? It's been around for years. A previous FIFA even gave it a toggle on/off. I do trust EA when they say it's never been in MP. Yeh, they wanna sell points, yeh, they make some bad calls. On the whole, they're just a standard big company, and are unlikely to be lying about 99% of shit they're accused of lying about. Yes, they'll not comment, yes they'll hide the secret 5 spices, but very few direct to consumer companies (particularly now, and moreso in Digital industries as we have transient workforce who can also anonymously expose with evidence VERY easily) actively and purposefully lie about their product makeup.
Maybe being in a related area swells my sympathy for EA in this regard, but... I just don't get why their consumers, their enablers, focus on conspiracy theory shite as opposed to concentrating on the mechanics that are an issue.

Sorry, I'm coming across as chippy and defensive on behalf of a company I've disliked at some level for nigh on 22 years (beginning with ruining Fifa 64 and through their wrecking of Civilisation and blah blah blah)...
Anyhoo. Apologies, but yeh - I've kinda been really resenting a lot of this in the community. Hence I avoid the comment sections in Youtube, and a lot of the more toxic reddit stuff. The guys on the Fifa team are pretty good, and it's of note that those responsible for customer engagement at EA, are both empowered to go direct to PO's and to communicate in almost verbatim terms (at the right level of detail to be of proper tone of voice etc) and sufficiently low level that it's quite ridiculous to continue to batter them with 'shareholder this, shareholder that, money making this'.
In general terms, so much anger is misdirected to a perfectly normal digital set up.
Their Product teams are pushing micro transactions, their devs are working on the game to make it a great product, their data teams are analysing trends in mechanics and user behaviour and engagement, their user researchers are getting play tested, and monitoring feedback. The latter's challenges highlight a lot of what is so difficult here.
The game is loved by all, every year, for a couple of weeks. In that time, many people rack up enough hours to have completed 5 or 6 AAA games. They have c. 25 million users. In the first fortnight, they have over 10 million logged in and playing games online. That's users testing in anger at an extreme scale. For them to take 2 weeks to find common causes of complaints is pretty damn decent.
I think the 45th/90th minute thing is psychological.
You've probably done it yourself, you look up and see you're in added time and near the area. You're more likely to try and work a quick shot and try to get it off than you would in say the 60th minute. Especially the 90th. If you or your opponent is losing they aren't going to keep it and play tiki-taka. They're all out for that goal and fast. Considering how broken certain mechanics are you can quite easily score or concede without doing much.
As for matchmaking. It will always be similar to it is now. It's how they like it. What most people don't realise and what I wish they'd show, is how most people finish.
In comparison to how many people enter, very few people actually make it beyond 17 wins. I wish they'd show the percentage for this as they do in Rivals, but I'd hazard a guess that less than 20% of people get to 20 wins. Your majority of the player base probably lies in Silver 1 to Gold 3.
Given the state of the rewards as you go above 20 wins, you can't really change it too much either. You could use skill rating, but then you'll get guys sabotaging their rating to try and get favourable matches. Besides, what do you enjoy more. Spanking someone obviously worse than you 6-0, or coming out on top in a tense game against an equal or better opponent?

I could go on for hours about the community. The amount of abuse I see the EA guys get on Twitter is stupid. I mean they sometimes give bullshitty reasons for things but people sending them things like death threats, because they've not fixed goalkeeper movement or something is just stupid. And that's without getting into the exploiting game mechanics at all costs.

Since SBC's came in, particularly the league SBC's, there's often been a rush for out of packs players, as they will be genuinely extinct. The smaller the club the better. Some out of packs Ligue 1 players in the year Laca was the reward sold for 50k+ because their clubs only had 12-13 players in UT before they'd even stopped being in packs. It's not such a big thing now, so there's less to exploit.Quote:

It wasn’t a player! It was the chapocoense kit after the whole squad died. Everyone wanted to wear it as a ‘tribute’ and as such, whilst it didn’t go out of packs, the relative number of kits packed meant they went extinct and were selling for mental amounts. So EA gave them away free to all to go even it up.
That motivated people to try to ‘invest’ in dead players and/or sell them inflated.
As well as the Chapecoense kit, lots of people did it later in the year with 17 with Cheick Tiote too. He was being sold for max price, even though it was in June and the end of the life-cycle for 17.

I’d love that Mbappe striker card to become an affordable one for me. It would mean being able to do something a little radical - starting 5 at the back and switching to a 433(4) with TOTY Ramos as a stay back midfielder, which as a Gullit gang card with ridiculous physical and defence looks like a good option to replace Kondogbia with Aouar in algnside him.

Re: the toxic community. A lot of the fellas that I go to Orlando City matches with and I have a group chat / bit of a FUT league going... Long story short, some of them are fucking insufferable.
One guy who was the supposed king of Fifa 18 (I kinda got into the group in April last year so I missed a lot of it) basically whines nonstop because he's no longer a shoo-in to win every single match because of how they "fucked up the game".
In the beginning I actually really enjoyed 19 because I felt like I could play actual football and it wasn't just knock it ahead of your winger and chase type of stuff. Long story short, some guys will use anything they read as an excuse as to why they're bad.
The reason the guy loses now is because everyone is now in this FUT league we made so everyone is also playing a TON more single player matches online whereas last year most of our time was spent playing pro clubs.
But it never fails. Any time something happens it's "THESE MECHANICS!" or "YOU ShOULD SEE REDDIT!" well maybe everyone on reddit is a fucking whiny bitch, just like you?

I've been working on the Future Stars objective that requires 14 single match wins. Comfortably got 6 by Tuesday, with only one loss, but had no time last night to play, so I'm left needing 8 wins tonight. Not sure if it's worth sticking it out or not.
I also have the final Futswap objective to complete (4 games with Belgian goalscorers) but considering I'm not aiming to get the 87 Dembele I will probably give that a miss completely.
I haven’t done one of those type of objectives for a month now and my quality of life has improved immeasurably.
I got the same player pick set 3 times over, unfortunately for me that got me Rebic, Sommer and Zapata. Quite irritating to again miss out on everything useful. I was hoping to see Goretzka here.

Romanians are selling like crazy with the new Sbc. Shame this Sbc didn’t come earlier when it was expected and I invested in a bunch of cheap gold ones. Now I’ve got One gold and a few high silver rated ones.
Will complete Baresi. I can see Henry/Vieira/Gullit requiring not just an Icon but also a couple of high rated squads with Icons, so his 93 rating should justify it and I can do it all for about 150k.
Just got that mega pack SBC reward and it worked out very nicely. 1 76 rated In Form, and then an 81-83 player pick pack that contained 83 IF Muriel, so that’s reduced Baresi by another 30k or more for me.
Yesterday ended up being a really busy day of FIFA with rewards, some SBCs and my eventual decision to continue with the 14 single match wins objective. Probably shouldn't have carried on, but being almost halfway there made me not want to waste my initial progress.
Rewards were fairly average - my two player picks were 82 Diogo Jota, and 87 Sommer. As for the packs, I had 3 50k rare player packs and 4 35k mega packs, and the best I managed was Fekir. :moop: Turned out ok as I immediately put him into the Ligue 1 side for the objective. I was really hoping for some more SBC fodder at the worst but barely managed any other 83s throughout.
So I went onto the objective, and things started really poorly. First 5 games of the night resulted in just 2 wins, and 3 losses where I was being outclassed comfortably. I assessed the situation (it was getting fairly late at the time), and figured 6 more wins would take a while but SHOULD be doable. This is where I came to the conclusion that the regular Memphis Depay is honestly one of the best strikers in the game, at least for me. He scored in pretty much every game as I romped to within one win of the objective, but fatigue was hitting me at this point and I slipped to two awful losses - one to an extra time winner, and the second to a guy who completely destroyed me from the 1st minute onwards.
It was 2am at this point, work was only 5 hours away but I thought fuck it, I'm going for it and matched against a team with Neymar, IF Mbappe, RTTF Fekir, etc. Flashback Ibra came straight off the bench too. The game was fucking nuts, my opponent played 4-2-4 and couldn't defend for toffee, but he was lethal any time he got to within 35 yards of my goal. We traded goals continuously (Depay getting 3), until in the 90th minute, purple Paulinho (the Swedish league special card) drilled in from the edge of the box to give me a 7-6 lead. There was still time for his Ibra to incredibly miss a 1-on-1, but I held on and finally completed the objective.
Extremely satisfying finale to the night, but I am utterly paying for it today in work. Oh, and I redeemed my WL points, but I'm so fucking tired I can't see myself playing at all tonight....

May do Nakata as well, as I’m struggling to find things to spend coins on outside of TOTYs otherwise. I’d really like to get two big boy icons this year - Gullit and Henry or Vieira and Ronaldo etc.

Took a good look at my squad last night. I'm reasonably happy with the first team, minus Sane really. Fabinho does a job, but will be replaced very soon.
It's probably time for tough decisions regarding, POTM Auba, Sterling and Flashback Alves. All 3 are high rated cards that could be very useful in SBCs. The former 2 are now quite unlikely to get into my team again, whereras Alves would, if I were to bring in Mbappe again.
Given Nakata is 100k cheaper than Baresi I could put my 300k into him, which would complete all but the last part, Aubameyang and Sterling would make it significantly cheaper to the point where that, plus the packs from the previous parts mean I could do it. I could then turn him straight into Rijkaard. I'd be broke then, assuming no pack pulls, but my CDMs sorted for the majority of the game.
It does rely on pack pulls to complete it this weekend though. Not sure if worth the gamble. Winter upgrades could push Auba and who knows maybe Sterling up.
Also the FFS Fan SBC is a bit of a joke. You have to grind out the objective to even get it, then they want 160k off you? No thanks.

La Liga SBC possibly leaked and cards like Cilesson are flying. Casemiro 90 was in concepts but he isnt there now. Its too early for it though imo
5-0 start in Champs with relative ease. Save for the last game. I was 2-0 up against a constant pressure, ping pong 4-1-2-1-2 wanker. 2nd half he felt like the same player but on steroids. I could barely win a tackle and he managed to squeeze 2 through balls past my VVD despite me moving to cut them out. I was beginning to think "oh here we go" but the way to beat these is to move the ball fast. Kicked it up a notch and got the goal to seal the win.
Gameplay has felt really sluggish. I'm not sure if the new patch is in yet, but those I've played constantly looking for that finesse shot have been sent packing. I brought in 86 Felipe Anderson and I've been playing him as a CAM, moving Tevez to the right. Seems pretty good. He's missed one chance I'd have expected a goal from, but it hit the post and rebounded to my player anyway. Zlatan has felt awful in this gameplay so I've been avoiding him. Bentancur is proving a very useful sub too. I've been bringing him on at CAM.

Had trouble in 1 match, but not in any of the others really. The one I had trouble with saw me up against a team full of TOTY/FFS players. He could play ridiculously fast and accurately. De Ligt was a massive pain in the ass and Mendy at left back put a stop to me all game. He scored to go 2-0 up in the 73rd min, just as I switched to my all out attack tactic. I ended up scoring twice past the 87th minute. This seemed to rattle him. I'd been on the backfoot finding it very tough going up until extra-time. From then on it was all me.
I've had both Joelinton and Cutrone used against me and both seem to be very very good. I'd love to get a loan to try them out, but there isn't one.
I've been using Felipe Anderson(who I'm liking more and more) as my CAM, with Zlatan as LAM. I lose the balls in behind really, but he's able to hold almost any full-back off.
I also gave this El Tornado cross business a try and I've not quite got the timing right, but it seems stupidly good.

It works because the attackers in general can and do react a lot faster than the defenders. So they end up getting their head to the ball more than they should.
You've seen it in past FIFA games, but the attackers who are small and agile can keep changing directions way faster than your defender can react. It still works now, but people wanting to abuse the middle for finesse shots has overshadowed it. I fear once finesse shots are taken away, crossing will be the new go-to thing.

I'd left my WL progress at 12-0, but woke up an hour ago and was unable to get back to sleep. Decided fuck it, people usually quit out at this stage if they go behind, so I don't mind if I have to quit a few myself. Went for 14 wins and got it in 2. First game saw me pen the guy back for 30 odd minutes before eventually scoring and he quit. 2nd game was very close. Went to pens and I'm glad I've had lots of practice here. My opponent felt nervous as all of his pens barely strayed from the middle. As such I managed to save 3, however he guessed right on 3 of mine, but 2 of them were precisely aimed into the corner. Both of those managed to curl away from the keeper and find side netting. If I were a little less precise or if he had taken a step to the side before diving, he'd have saved both.

Patch seems decent to me. Just had one of those really satisfying games that affirms why you bother, going 3-0 down to a drag back spam merchant (I hate that move), I scored a couple of bangers to go 3-2 down on 69 mins. At which point, he started passing around the back and trying to time waste to victory. Did the cunt 3-3 and he tried the same. Enter Edison Cavani once more, sealing his hat-trick with yet another 99 shot power thundercunt to make it 4-3. If there’s something I play this game for, it’s beating shitehawks like this. 4-0 in Rivals today, and going well all week so might actually not avoid promotion this week and see if D4 is any more enjoyable than it was the last time I didn’t start forfeiting matches to avoid it.
Back in WL this weekend too. Might buy that IF Goretzka for it, as a supersub, as he looks top notch. Will also be taking OTW Promes on the bench too.
Had a quick go with the new patch this morning and specifically tried to find out about timed finesse. They seem completely random now. Some fly in, others even with CR7 go miles wide or seem underpowered.
The thing that does worry me is they haven't touched how strong defensive AI is. I played a guy who just had drop back on and I was camped 25 yards out. He was a good defender so I pretty much created nothing all game. My worry is in these games I'm going to have to resort to crossing, which I hate.
All in all I think they've gone a little too far the other way with this now, but unless crossing becomes the new meta, it's a change for the good.

Aouar did put a green just wide which would have flown in the net more often than not before but I can still utilise the system.
Also was trying the crosses and had a bit more luck (I was using the L1+R1 headers which Nep said work well) but I still struggle to find the man in the box at times.
My two cents are that defensive Ai isn't the issue. A button defending and the lack of impact to attacking play is the issue - it should be a real effort to counter when you've 11 behind the ball. Instead, it often seems easier.Quote:

You don’t need timed shots if you could score goals in 17 and 18 without always using low drive . I rarely use them, preferring to use the same methods as in 18, space+placement+power+Body position. I didn’t use low driven much last year either and I’m fairly free scoring, or at least, finishing is not a major issue.
I’m still only G1 standard, so I get outplayed by some opponents and lose something like a third of games in WL and DR, but where I’m getting chances, I’ve not had issues with finishing since the first couple of weeks when I was trying timed finishing and failing to get to grips with it.
But I love slamming the ball into the top corner. It's very emphatic!

I didn't once use the low driven in 18 but still scored loads of goals. The problem now is that it's just much harder to score from good positions in 19.
As for finesse shots, they still work as long as you get the green timed, albeit the accuracy of the green timed has been slightly reduced.
I am still using the low driven this year. It’s still pretty powerful IMO but just a little harder to pull off with the switch in key combo

I currently have Bentancur and Ballack playing CDM, whilst Raul has dropped back to CAM and shifted Anderson off to the left in order to accommodate the big man. I basically moved things about when I packed him, but it was pretty much as the patch dropped. This shift about could explain some troubles as well.
Bentancur works okay as a CDM but his lack of strength has shown. He'd be a very good box-to-box guy at CM.
I've 220k in the bank now and am faced with a choice. I'm enjoying CR7, but selling him would allow me to upgrade at LM and LB. Because of doing that Marcelo and Anderson would be sold on and I'd have just over 2m.
I could then get TOTY Marcelo, Neymar and finish Rijkaard.
If I didn't do Rijkaard, I could also buy Mbappe, 86 Lala, Varane and Griezmann in a squad reshuffle. It'd mean parting with pack pulled De Gea and bringing back Courtois too.
I could go another way with it and bring in TOTY Varane, 86 Lala and Mbappe.
Unsure quite what to do yet.

After smashing through 15 WL games last Monday whilst ill to get to 11-9 and Silver 1, I haven't played at all this week. Found a few minutes to open up my rewards packs, I did think about waiting until this new promo dropped, but what's the likelihood of me packing anything decent anyway.
Got 84 Donnarumma from my player pick, and the packs from WL and Rivals got me Benatia, Lacazette, a few more 83s and more importantly a number of La Liga players for SBCs. I've done 13 of the 20 so far, but missing a number of silvers that will be needed for Huesca and Valladolid.
Also used my January Futswaps for OTW Promes, he might replace IF Dembele for me but if not, he'll be a cracking sub.

After TotY I just can't be arsed to do it all again. I'm increasingly of the belief that I need to play this game without using the transfer market at all from next year, it's just too easy to build a super team otherwise and as soon as I have, I lose interest.
I read that Kiko Casilla is a good investment due to his Leeds move. He is used in every Real Madrid La Liga SBC solution and will soon be out of packs.
Makes sense and while he is at 800 it is risk free.
I bought teenty of so of them a few weeks back when he was first rumoured to be off. They peaked at 3k, but I’m a bit dismayed they’re back at 8k now. Hopefully a fortnight or two more does the trick.
His Leeds card is now out, I can't see him not flying up in price.

Champs gameplay feels a little off. It's heavy as to be expected, but my and my opponents players are taking some touches that almost feel like new animations. Passing also feels a lot better in certain situations, but worse in others.
I've started 5-0 but I'm wary of how this will go. I've also brought Hazard back in to play as a CAM and moved Ronaldo out left. I feel like it's best all around. However I'm starting to very much feel like I'm forcing Raul in now.

That's the new 87 Lala he's beaten easily there too. That was far too easy and bar moving out of position with his left back, he could do nothing to stop that.
So far it's been very obvious who was reliant on those finesse shots pre-patch. The last game was a struggle. I came up against a possession player who went 1-0 up early. Managed to nab the ball of him in his half the once for a quick counter goal, but I got lucky to score from a corner at the end to nick it with 41% possession.
Haven't been online yet, but have been playing a load of legendary squad battles today and yesterday and have to say this patch is a big improvement.
Took a while to get used to it, but not relying on timed finesses makes the game much more enjoyable. I'm scoring a variety of goals and probably even more than I was before the patch.
After playing a bit more I'd agree. A long shot should never be a guarantee. I seem to be playing much better and more fluid football.
I'm now 9-2. I was motoring along nicely until I ran into an equally good opponent. It was a very open, end to end affair but neither of us could finish our dinner. 2-2 we went into extra time and he put in a shocking cross towards the end of the first half, however instead of clearing it away like I asked, Van Dijk chested the ball, which ballooned off him and right into his Griezmann who was suddenly presented with a 1v1. He scored and after a formation switch so did I. The frustrating part was I broke through and had a chance in the 117th minute. An across goal pass to Aubameyang was played. I thought I'd nicked it, only to have him smash it right back at the corner flag. I went on to lose on pens.
Then in the game straight after my opponent immediately switched to a 3-4-2-1. Again this was end to end. However at 4-4 I had a cut back at point blank range saved. Think Dudek in the CL Final 2005 style. My opponent went straight up the other end and created a chance. I moved my De Gea correctly but in his save animation he saved it twice in one go. The first one knocked it up into the air and the 2nd saw his hands, which were still moving up, knock the ball and send it back into the net.
On another day I'd be 11-0 but I've taken a break now. I may go again tomorrow but I'm out from tomorrow evening until Monday evening so there's not a lot of play time left for me.
I made a few changes to my custom tactics and line up, but it does feel like my players are moving much better than they ever have in this game. It's also easier to score from angles in the box, which is very welcome.
This is the line-up, which changes to a 4-3-2-1 or 3-5-2 in game, but throughout the squad battles run over the last couple of days I've almost exclusively used the 3-5-2.

Just over 1.5m in hand and probably a 200k of players to sell and a shit load of consumables, but I'm a bit bored of the trading side of this now. Elite 1 is all but secured in Squad Battles, so I might sell a few things and have a go for one of the cheap icons tomorrow, but again, not sure I can be arsed.
Finding goals hard to come by today, but due to something they're supposed to have nerfed - Keeper movement. Simply put, I cannot work my arse off to create chances and then shoot away from the keeper when the opponent stick them in a spot they don't even have to dive from.
Fucking hell. Packed Baresi 91 rated. That's my third icon this game :D

I'm 18-8 now. I've had 2 disconnects(winning one, drawing the other) and pretty much every game today could have gone either way. On balance I'd say if I were to finish on 20 wins it would be fair. I'm having to rush to get these games in though and it is showing. Not playing very well today.

The problem with first owner is that it's too easy to make coins in the transfer market and I'll just end up with an amazing team by Christmas again through all the SBC's EA put on and being able to do all of the league SBC's. How about some kinda level-based challenge? E.g. you start with a Bronze squad, play n games, upgrade to Silver squad, play n games, then an 80-rated squad, 81/2/3 etc.
The other thing I think people do on this game is miss out on playing with weird and wonderful players (although you don't do that as much, Yev).
Had to pay about 50k or so but I did get Parejo and Verratti from the Prime Gold players pack so, with the other stuff from the two packs, I have done THE HUNTER for profit.
I have found enjoyment from focusing on actually getting better at the game rather than chasing players. I am currently picking one thing and focusing on it for a period of time until I am comfortable with it.
The last few sessions I have been trying to get used to performing the ball roll. I always see the pro players use it to good effect but it has never felt natural to me.

I'm sort of doing that at the moment, with that pack only account I started a couple of weeks ago. Only played about 10 games on the account, but it was going back to it yesterday that made me think more about doing a genuine pack only account as the main one when FIFA20 comes out. For me, the transfer market just makes the game far too easy and is a massive time sink. Using it you can cherry pick which SBC's you do, which therefore means you can't possibly lose coins on them and everything just comes so easily as a result.Quote:

Just played two games online of the 5 needed to place in division rivals. First game was against a team with FFS, Flashback etc. players and narrowly lost 2-1. The second was against a team with red reward cards in it and I lost 4-1, with Sterling getting a consolation, but the game disconnected in the 91st minute and while I got the coins the game didn't count as 1 of the 5 matches. Grrr.
Still, enjoying this shit a lot so far.
Played a fair amount tonight on Weekend League, and probably had my best weekend in terms of performance. Got to Silver 1 with a record of 11-6, and I was contemplating pushing on for 3 more wins, but with it being fairly late I will leave it there. I felt much better this weekend, closing out tight games, winning a couple in extra time, and a penalty win just now to seal Silver 1.
Grey Fox, the recommendation of Griezmann has been brilliant. He's played 55 games for me, all Weekend League, with 59 goals and 29 assists. Seriously fun to play with too.
There's something about Griezmann this year. I've struggled with him in past games, but this year he's bloody brilliant.
He was a staple of my early teams and I'm actually considering a switch around to try and bring him back in(his 91 version anyway). Always seems to be in the right place too.
I also noted in my WL run there seemed to be a lot of variance in formation. Most notably the most difficult one I faced was 4-4-2. It seemed to throw a blanket over my 4-2-3-1. I had a lot of success late last year using it myself and given you don't need to clog the middle any more I'm tempted to give it a run.
It may also solve my Raul/CR7 problem. CR7 kills it up front, but my usual 1 striker set up means he or Raul has to play wide and it's a waste for either one of them.
Just played two rivals matches as I want at least rank III rewards having not done WL.
Two 3-0 wins with both of them not finishing due to rage quits.
Should only need another 1 or 2 to get it and I'm only 52 points away from reaching division 4.

Finished my 5 division rivals qualifying games and with 3 losses, 1 draw and 1 win it put me in division 6. Still haven't won a game in that yet, a couple of draws and 3/4 defeats, so I'll probably be in division 7 soon and fuck only knows what resides there.
On the plus side I have all but secured rank 3 in division 6, so that'll be 2 untradeable mega-packs come Thursday morning. Think I'll play to Gold 1 in Squad Battles, which will be 3 more packs and 11,000 coins. IF Bats is in my sights from the Futswap Deals as well.
Other than that hammering bronze packs and now have over 200 players in the club (about 40 of them gold).
Playing the game as you are Yev reminds me of the opening few weeks of Ultimate Team, and finding those hidden gem players out of starter packs that perform way above their level. Whilst I really do enjoy getting all of the special cards, and playing with a really amazing team, I think the start is my most enjoyable phase of the game.
And whilst I have, like everyone else, knocked EA for some of the decisions they make throughout the lifespan of each game, I have actually enjoyed a few of the last weekly objectives, no matter how much of a grind they have been. I've been able to find some cheaper gems and play with teams I would never really use in FUT Champions. A couple of weeks ago it was Memphis Depay who was tearing it up up front; this week, in the extremely budget German squad I've compiled to get the Demirbay card, it's been Kevin Volland who has been great to use. Kehrer and Tah have made for a formidable centre-back pairing too.
I managed 4 wins and 2 draws last night in Division 5, so just another 4 to go for the objective.
Yep, the more I do this the more I think it's the way forward. I'm actually looking forward to getting Batshuayi from Futswaps as he'll genuinely improve my team. And the Demirbay example is another great one. Had I been doing this from the start I'd have had a German team to give that a crack with.
Providing EA don't change things fundamentally for FIFA20 (leaving a similar number of packs available from division rivals, for example) I'll definitely start the game this way next year.
I think I had more fun earlier on when I was sticking to themes - Ligue 1/Bundesliga etc. Breaking the bank for that one star player in your league/country feels better and you end up using players you wouldn't otherwise.
Not sure if I have the coin to do it this year but I quite fancy the idea of doing a full England team. Shearer and Owen up front and Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes in midfield. :drool: I imagine we will see a flashback Ashley Cole at some point too.
Hopefully Beckham cans his deal with PES soon also, he's high on my list of wanted icons.

I always get a lot of one on one chances but would miss a lot but I'm now utilising the low driven shot and it's working great.
I would be scoring bucket loads if I could cross with this mechanic though, I find a defender/goalkeeper about 9 out of 10 times.
New SBC out, to "celebrate Hamsik's legacy with his club". 91 rated, he looks pretty insane but wouldn't fit in my squad.

Great TOTW, active promo & MOTM in packs is making an Icon SBC attractive right now. Nesta looks like he needs doing.
Meh, couple of MOTM (Piatek and some other discard), Buffon, Khedira and some 83/84s. Not awful, but probably puts me at somewhere around 300k spend for Nesta. Still, that's now 5 Icons. No more until the Elites come into play for me.
I love the low driven shot to counter the dickheads who move their keeper.
I've just done it in two rivals matches with my opponent covering the far post whilst I buried it into the wide open near post.
Edit: And again, it's so satisfying.
My favourite thing if 1v1, is to do the fake shot stop. (B and then A with no left stick input) you'll stop dead on the spot facing the centre of the goal.
Because you can see the other player powering a shot up you'll find they move to one side in a gamble. Simply pop it in the other side.
As for Icons I'll be doing Nakata to put into Rijkaard tomorrow after rewards. He's a needed physical upgrade in the midfield. That'll put me in a nice spot for a future big time Icon. I'd happily trade in Ballack and Rijkaard for a Viera or a Gullit.
I'd also let Raul and one of the others go in order to go into R9, Ronaldinho or Eusebio.
I'd love to pack something big and look into getting Best, as he expires in 2 days, however the only way I can see myself doing that is by selling CR7 and for obvious reasons I'd really like to keep him.
If pack weights were not dropped during these promos I'd be extremely tempted(I still am really). He sells for 1.7m with best costing 1.48m according to FUTBIN. Along with discard value of my rewards, i'd have about 300k left, if I didn't pack anything with Bests packs either.

Struggled a bit last night in the hunt for Demirbay, only getting 1 win overall. Kept getting pegged back late in games and drew a lot, but it did mean I comfortably reached Rank 2 in Division 5. I'm quite tempted to take the untradeable rewards later on, as I'm thinking of completing the Headliners Carvajal SBC. I currently use a Red 86 Carvajal, so it would be a natural upgrade at RB.
Sold a fair bit throughout the day and am up to 8k coins, so could either open another Premium Gold Pack now or hammer on tonight and go for a Premium Gold Jumbo.
Opening packs playing the game this way is somehow even better than normal, it's going to be immense when I get my first walkout.

89 Higuain and 87 Donnarumma in my reds which is pretty fantastic to be fair. The former looks like my kind of poacher, but his speed and 70 stamina is a bit off-putting. He's making the bench for sure though. This also makes the 3rd time I've seen a red Donnarumma. The game really wants me to have him.
TOTW Kagawa and then another low rated one in my 100k packs and then Ozil from my untradeable rival rewards. Not the greatest of earners to be fair, but should see me with enough to do Nakata and then look at Rijkaard.

I'm getting absolutely humped online with this team. Another defeat, this time 6-0, drops my skill rating to 744 and 44 points off division 7. On the plus side I'm now 5% of the way to qualifying for the weekend league.
Sold my 86 Felipe Anderson and Hazard to take my tally up to 420k. Did Nakata and had about 75k left, so he cost about 350k. Pulled Marcelo from the packs to cut that cost down even further.
I also swapped him for my one and now have an almost complete First Owner squad. I then turned in the remaining 3 parts of Rijkaard and pulled Headliner Zapata. One of the lower tier ones, but got me another 90k back.

That Flashback Torres is a killer for me as it's a massive temptation, however as you can see I don't have a LM. I also don't quite have the funds to get either Anderson or Hazard back.
As of now the plan is to pick up the best version of Sane I can get. The other option is to sell CR7 and buy TOTY Marcelo, Neymar and then maybe do something like complete Flashback Torres.

Did one of the MM's SBC's and managed to cobble together enough for another Jumbo Premium Gold pack, which unfortunately was crap. Then did a Player Pick Upgrade and packed Fekir, which I was pretty pleased with.
Have a few decent Ligue 1 players now, but biggest problem bar none is the striker situation. Those I have, without exception, are all absolute garbage. I tried Doumbia in a game tonight on decent chem and it was genuinely laughable how bad he was.

84 Brandt was my best choice in a fairly poor player pick. Nothing else in the reward packs for the Weekend League. I then took the untradeable rewards for Rivals, giving me 2 rare player packs and 2 mega packs. From these I pulled Keylor Navas, Nainggolan, IF De Jong and a few 83s. Navas helped as I was then able to complete the Carvajal Headliner SBC for nothing at all, so he's going straight into my squad, replacing the red 86 I had before.
I still need one more Rivals win for Demirbay so hopefully will get that done before 6pm when I get home. Last night was a real struggle as I got to 7 wins, and wanted to get the last before bed. I then lost either 4 or 5 in a row, matching up against a couple of very very good players, and fluffing my lines against more equal opponents. A 1-0 loss to someone who only managed 2 shots all game was particularly galling. I sacked it off when I lost connection to someone when 4-3 up - I was actually suspicious they had somehow managed to quit without getting a loss as I remained connected to the internet and the UT servers.
All this means I dropped from around 1430 in Div 5, to approximately 1240. :moop:
Fucked up and redeemed weekend league accidentally. I’m in Dublin from 8am tomorrow and at a gig tonight, so I’ll likely have trouble qualifying next week. Annoyingly, I was on 1400 qualification points before the reward, it’s so shit you can’t just bank them, or at least up to 4000, and spend your 2000 on qualification out of that pot.

Prime Nedved is out. Requires an Icon and not a lot else to be fair. FUTBIN has it below 800k. He has 5* WF and great Stamina and workrates, so could be very good CAM. Not bad, but not quite an endgame card unfortunately.
They also remembered scream cards exist. There has been a stat shift and they have announced they will shift twice more. 15th March and 12th April. With the April update, 2 of the stats will set to 99 and then stay there for the rest of the game.

Forward runs are just awful, in every way.
There will be times when your players will just stop when it's clear they should be hammering on to exploit space in behind and other times when they Forrest Gump the fuck out of it (generally when your ball carrying player is in the final third) so that they're either ahead of the defender in front of them and marked out of the game as a result, or just flat out offside.
I'm sure if you're a better player than I am there are things you can do to slow play to mitigate this so you might not even notice (ball rolls, drag backs etc.) but if the attacking positioning stat means anything then you really shouldn't have to. For me, TOTY Mbappe (with his 99 attack positioning) moves no better than the absolute garbage in my pack only account - my best striker being Demba Ba for fuck's sake.
It's especially annoying for me as I'm horrible at doing any sort of hold up play.
I want to attack at a fast pace but the shit forward runs really hamper my game. I've never been one for too much side passing or ball rolls and shit.
As soon as you get just past the centre circle in your opponents half, unless it's a counter attack, take your finger off sprint. You can react much quicker and you can actually hold the ball up. Your players tend not to make those weird heavy touches either.

How many players is one likely to get in a mega pack? Just battered 2 shit teams on legendary in Squad Battles to take me to the cusp of Elite 3, which is 1 Mega Pack, 2 Premium Gold Players Packs and 12,000 coins.
To finish there now would be very easy, but I could push for Elite 2, which would be 2 Mega Packs, 1 Premium Gold Players Pack and 15,000 coins, but thinking about it, for the purposes of a pack only account to get players in the club, Elite 3 might actually be better.

The loss was irritating. The guy was a very good defender but brought Zlatan on late in his RW spot. He managed to get matched up to Marcelo at the back post twice for the 2-1 loss.
Playing okay, but my left side definitely needs improvement. All of my better opponents are going down this side over and over.

If I want to get IF Aguero in I would have to drop Ibra, but then I also want to try POTM or Headliner Rashford (I could do the former without selling Aguero but would 100% have to sell for the latter). To get Rashford into the team I would have to change to a formation without wingers. This means I need to find a central premier league player who can play out right for Mahrez.
Aguero feels like a waste at RCAM in the 4-2-3-1. Ibra feels like a waste if I dont use him.

Swap Deals Player - Score using Brazilian Players in 4 separate rivals wins - It's possible I might be able to do this one, as I have Oscar and Anderson Talisca in one of my two teams, but realistically it would probably take about 15 games, so not going to happen.
Swap Deals Player II - Win 8 online matches this week - I'd suggest no chance
Northern Lights - Win a match using a squad featuring a player from each Nordic country - I like the kit and it's easy to do, but I don't have an Icelandic players. I'm sat on 14k coins and I'm going to spam the shit out of bronze packs when my tradepile clears so I might pack one doing that, but there are only 14 in the database.
Hunter - Score using an Ultimate Scream player in 3 separate matches - I don't have any, so that's a no here.
Shadow - Score 5 goals from crosses in squad battles - Should get this by just playing, which is nice.
Silver - Win 5 Online Single Matches using silvers - My silvers are shit, so I've not much chance of doing this. However, the reward of a Prime Gold Players Pack for this one is awesome, so I may well try. One option is to recycle all my stored bronzes into silvers, but I don't really want to do that yet as they're a way into Marquee Matchup SBC's.
The Madrid Derby - Win 4 Squad Battles matches using a squad with specified requirements - Would like to do this, but don't have the players currently.
Bronze - Win 4 squad Battles matches using only Bronze players - Just done this. Was easier than I thought it'd be against 188 teams and the like on semi-pro and was quite fun too. Had a couple of Bundesliga 3 Germans from the same club up front and they tore it up.
Overall not a bad few to aim for, but no player reward is a shame.
@Danny do the loan version of Rashford? Might help you decide before you spend the capital on him. I'd personally rather have him than Aguero. Rashford is tall, strong enough and had good stamina. With Aguero you're getting better finishing and composure, but you're losing that pace in behind. I haven't used him myself so can't tell you if he's worth dropping Mahrez for. I still use Mahrez myself if that's any indication.
@Yevrah you could get help from us on Swap Deals Player 2. I don't mind chucking you a few wins, but then that may defy the point of what you're doing.

Went 7-3 before heading off to the gig and then Dublin. Get home at 11ish tomorrow, off on Monday so will pull an all nighter to reach at Gold 3, preferably Gold 2. I’ve been tracking performance on a spreadsheet as I’m a total saddo, and there’s some odd inconsistency over the past 4 weekend leagues. I’ve gone from an even spread in the two weekends pre-patch, in terms of G&A but Cavani as the major threat amongst my front 4, to last weekend relying heavily on Suarez at CAM and koke at CM, to this weekend having no goals from Suarez and the midfield with Mbappe/Griezmann and Cavani all on a goal a game or so. But the biggest thing of note is Marcelo vs Lala. The former gets a couple of goals and assists a weekend, not much as normally my full backs are used to ‘assist the assister’, but it’s in stark contrast to Lala who no direct goal contributions at all. I think that’s indicative of their indirect contribution too, Marcelo just offers so much more, so I’d like to upgrade Lala to another true attacking weapon at some stage.
Pogba is now 400k above the price I paid for him.

Came back from 3-1 down thanks to two headed goals from corners, and my opponent's Courtois made 19 saves. I would have been so tilted if I had slipped up on penalties, but instead it was pure relief as I saved 3 of his 4.

I've just got a bit miffed myself. I was 12-1 and went into my next game. My opponent was penned back and 3 times stopped me with a last ditch tackle. I finally broke through and caused the mistake that lead to a penalty. His Eder Militao got sent off. The bastard quit as the ball was hitting the back of the net. Because the game takes a second or so for the 1 to go onto the scoreboard it didn't count as a win.
Next match I went into was the most enjoyable one so far. Proper end to end stuff with great football by both me and my opponent. His keeper made a point blank save in the 89th minute to deny me. He then went up the other end and hit a pot shot from 30 yards that flew into the top corner. Can't complain about that.
Just lost my first game today
The guy was much better and he beat me 3-0 but I should have made it harder. I barely got on the ball but I had 2 really good chances (at 0-0 at 1-0) but I didn't look as he moved his keeper and put it right at him.
5-1 today which puts me at 6-3 thus far.

Took me a little while to really click with Pogba and Rashford but it's starting to click now. Pogba is at 15 games, 4 goals and 5 assists (should be more if it wasn't for some poor finishing but what I like most about Pogba is the way he carries the ball) with Rashford at 15 games, 12 goals and 2 assists. Pretty good return considering it wasn't until his fifth game that he scored IIRC. I feel like I've shanked more shots than I would have with Crespo but I'm getting a hell of a lot more chances.
Not too keen on De Bruyne at CAM for some reason though. Aouar was so much better there and De Bruyne did more at CM.

After getting to 16 wins I've just conceded a 90th minute loser in 3 straight games. All 3 games saw me take the lead as well.
I seem to be losing the close ones this weekend. As such Ronaldo has sold. Sterling has missed a few good opportunities that I know someone like Neymar would have smashed in. I can upgrade the left side and it's not exactly like the striking options available are shit.

He's going to feel like a massive upgrade on what you have. A quick search shows that Kondogbias UEL Live card remains French so all of the fears were for nothing.
I brought in Neymar, TOTY Marcelo and did Torres for the price of selling CR7. Pushed on to 20 wins and had 4 games left. I immediately lost to put the pressure on. Managed to win the next one but was well and truly super-keepered to a 1-0 loss. So 21 wins it is. Quite good considering I played 16 games in one sitting pretty much and was playing like ass at the start.
I put Marcelo in at CDM, moved Rijkaard to CB and moved Ramos out to LB. It's a lot of fun having him in the centre. He's a little terrier without the ball. With it, even better. He's a better passer than Ballack and has the dribbling ability to get himself out of trouble too. He's very good but I'm not sure he's 1m coins worth of good, if you want to play him LB.
I'm considering selling him back. It'll allow me to bring in FFS Mendy, Varane, Headliner Lala and Mbappe.
It'll lose me a little having Varane and not VVD, however I'd be giving my RB a big upgrade, arguably upgrading my RM too.

If the max BIN was above the current going market rate, and you bought a lot of them at that max BIN, that's why you've been banned, yes.
Their algorithm will have assumed you were shifting coins from one account to another.

I'm a little disappointed as I started 5-1 and could have done better, but a combination of some poor decisions from me and some good opponents meant I went on a little losing streak.
Griezmann once again was the king - 19 games (3 of them where the opponent quit before the 35th minute), 20 goals, 10 assists. If I have the coins I might upgrade to an IF Griezmann.
That Cech sbc looks easy to do for a 91 rated card. Not sure he's better than De Gea though.
Assuming Futbin is right Howard is 20k cheaper than the cheapest 89 and Cech is the second cheapest 91, then plus packs

After packing Sterling most of the Gold Premium Packs I've opened have been wank (as you'd expect), so might turn my attention to silver packs for the time being and see how that flies. Did Cech and Howard for 65k total using about 70% players in the club, of which about half were already unradeable SBC fodder. Packed an In Form, a Pizzi (83 going for 5.5k right now), along with 5k of discard duplicates and some useful consumables so I'm happy with that.

Just played a single player game to get that Northern Lights kit but I forgot to put a Finnish player in.
Was trying to master the croquetas move but it only seems to come off about 4-5/10 I attempt to do it. A lot of times I do a little flick which actually could be quite useful but I don't know how to do that reliably either.
Edit: Okay I've got them both. Youtubers said it doesn't matter where you're facing when doing the Croquetas but it does.

Is it possible to score a header in this without doing the stupid cross, playing 4-2-3-1 or having Ibra in the team?
I've got a Gladiator on IF Bats and he's scoring, but I can't get him anywhere near a cross.
You need the cheap cross.
What cross is this? I literally never score crosses.
LB + X or L1 + Square. It's the only cross I seem to score with that isn't the El Tornado one. People who play me have success whipping one in, however.
R1+L1 headers are also the most effective.

Tried LB crosses and find them absolutely useless too.
I was scoring headers for fun a couple of moths ago as well.
I can't say I've ever had much success crossing to be fair, corners non-withstanding. I'll maybe score 5 from crosses in a 30 game WL run.
I've just caught up on this new Icon Moment bollocks. I'm taking that as a slap in the face for every one they release that I've done the SBC of. Hearing those who are in a position where they aren't allowed to be critical of EA trying to justify this is quite annoying. This is nothing else but a pure money grab. Anyone who has done one of these Icons SBCs should get the upgrade on that card too. Whether for free, or a small fee and trading the old card in.
Cech looks a very good goalkeeper, but his nationality and club makes him hard to fit into something that isn't a pure EPL team. Howard is a nice touch and cheap, but again is hard to link.
Great for SBC's though.
Oh and I was opening bronze packs earlier for the Icon SBCs (I need to complete Nakata) and I pulled Nketiah who sold for 4.4k :drool:
For the Bronze squads in Icons, the Chinese league is very easy to link up and cheap.

I've been thinking about it and I'm thinking this could a response to what we saw earlier in the year. By that I mean people being "too prepared" for Icons dropping. Anyone who did the latest POTM Reus could well see their 91 rated turn into a 94 rated. Sterling confirmed up to an 87 gets things off to a great start for me, my POTM could well get itself up to a 90 rating. It matches what was said on SoFIFA.
SoFIFA also has Van Dijk moving to 88 rated, Alisson at 87 and Aubameyang up to 88 to name a few.
This means I'm saving my 100k packs for Friday. I'll just open my reds tomorrow.

The 5* upgrade has pushed his headliner to 640k on xbox, whilst his POTM can currently be done for 480k and you get some packs back. I'm almost certainly going to sell Marcelo back and then bring in him and Mendy/Varane etc.

The Alisson OTW went up to 88 rated last night, but I'm not sure if he still is as I'm not at my console.

What I would say I guess is it's easier than ever to get players on this version. If I'd been doing a pack only since the start, for example, I'd probably be able to do 2 or 3 of them by now if I'd been frugal with other SBC's.
The most appealing thing though is that it's possible (if IFs are in the 81-86 pack) to grind one from Bronze Packs without having to use the 2 Player Gold Upgrade packs, which cuts loads of the shit out.
I just did the 81-86 (using absolute shit) and only got an 81.
I imagine the odds of pulling an 86 are pretty damn low.

Also FUTmas Torreira is a fucking animal of TOTS Kante proportions. Much more effective than Keane in breaking up play and just a constant menace. The B team is looking very nice with Robertson and Anderson upgrades. The former is noticeably more solid, and the latter, even with just a +1 seems better.

Just played my first WL game of the day and I bossed it 5-0.
Usually Friday is shit so I'm stunned at how easy this game was, we played like a Saturday.
2 for Rashford, 2 for Raul and 1 for Aouar with Aouar getting 3 assists, De Bruyne 1 and Rashford 1.
I think it's my biggest win on a Friday and easily the best performance I've put in on a Friday.

He scored a pretty flukey rebound goal early (he sent a cross in which one of his players met, it hit the post and VDS before rolling to VVD who just touched to control it but he had an attacker right next to him) and that was it.
Other than the goal the highlights listed a yellow card for VVD, a successful skill move for Rashford and an unsuccessful skill move from Rashford.

The Luiz SBC is doing my head in. With what I have in the club I can get to a squad rated one below the requirement on all three parts, but the existence of the SBC has pushed the price of all the cards that would put me over the line well above what I'm willing to pay for them.

I'm still currently using the base Nacho Fernandez at CB for my Weekend League squad. I know there are a number of better options but I do like a lot of his stats, and good work rates too. His 86 UCL Live card is currently approximately 135k on Xbox - has anyone had any experience with him and whether he'd be worth that? Varane is the other obvious upgrade and he's only 80-90k, but I really have liked using Nacho so far so would like to use him more.
This Haps card is causing me to re-evaluate. His strong link to de Ligt and soft to van Dijk (been planning on bringing in the former to upgrade Ramos and the latter after that as a further upgrade), and strong link to Bergkamp is tempting. Bergkamp's super mega prime version looks ludicrous. Either he or Gullit are essential to intro'ing some Dutch flavour. I won't be doing anything for a few weeks though - my UCL Suarez is catching fire. I paid 1.4m, and have seen his value slide to 1.3m, but it's now up to 1.8m with the knockouts upon us. The further Barca go, the more chance I have of instead getting TOTY Neymar or just keeping Suarez and going for TOTY Modric as my new playmaker instead of Bergkamp/Aouar (below).
The latest option is this, with Bergkamp/Aouar swapping. Ideally, I'd use 3/4 Icons on Bergkamp and my other 3/4 on a Ronaldinho to upgrade Neymar eventually.

The Luiz SBC has sent the market into overdrive. There hasn't been anything to pump cards back into the market now so prices keep rising.
As such Rashford is now 600k to do. Luiz at just over 300k is tempting. I like Ramos but he is a little short. Though this brings in the feeling of almost an obligation of using a card like that when it is untradeable.
Trying to work out whether to cash in on these prices or hold off in case Bergkamp or Henry SBC's drop. It's not just Luiz, clear to see other SBC causing the rise too, most noticeably the MLS one which has doubled in price with everyone desperate to link Allesandrini to FB Zlatan
Was a bit shit today (my players had the worst first touch ever) but I won my last 2 to see me get 11-6 for yet another week.
Pogba, Rashford, Aouar and Raul is such a killer foursome, they are incredible.
It took Rashford about 5/6 games to even score when I first bought him and it's took another 10/15 for me to really understand his game fully having been so used to Crespo. He's now at 48 games, 54 goals and 17 assists.
Aouar is also at 20 games, 12 goals and 14 assists now.
If any of you are thinking of doing Rashford's SBC don't (unless you've got mountains of untradeables) and just grab his HL card. It's cheaper on PS4 and a touch more expensive on Xbox and yet he'll have the same stats when his next IF drops and can go higher.

Time was fairly limited in the end, but got up to 11 wins before I knocked it on the head last night. I need to start earlier with the Weekend League; I ended up 11-5, my best record so far in terms of W/L, and if I had more time I could have pushed on to better rewards. It's hard to do so with a little one, but I would love to get more than 1 pick & better packs regularly.
Oh, and for last weeks rewards I took 85 Bellarabi as my player pick, and my reward/MM packs got me IF Hinteregger, IF Jedrzejczyk and OTW Denis Suarez, not a bad haul for SBCs there.
Ended up being able to do that Flashback Luiz for about 35k outlay, which given the packs that came with each part was not too bad at all. As always though, the game will take whatever chance it can get to boot you in the balls, and the best player I got from the Rare Mega Pack was Neto, who I'd submitted as part of my squad for that part of the SBC. Lovely. Got a total of 16 squad fitness cards from the three packs though, so could have been much worse, and the Luiz itself looks shit hot.
I've been edging back into actually playing this again too, and the gameplay is much better than it was at the start. It helps that I'm verging on having a super team worth several times what it cost due to fancying Felipe Anderson to have a good season early doors and betting on Sterling in the UC Live promotion.

Firmino aside, because he costs buttons, the only player there who cost me anything like what he's worth now is Arthur, and even there I got in early and got him for 150k less than he now sells for. I paid 35k for Anderson, he now sells for a bit over 300k, and though the 209k for Sterling is a lot, it's nothing like the 550k he now sells for, and that's before he's had the upgrade for when City inevitably smash Schalke. Telles has doubled in value too, so hopefully Porto can turn that tie around and he triples.
I can reorganize my formation to get Luiz in and keep Alves on full chem. Looks like I am going to do the SBC and when Kimpembes value goes up with his 88 rates I’ll probably cash in. Luiz and POTM VVD at the back means I can also get DDG in rather than Lloris (there for the chem link to Kimpembe)
Probably look to do that tonight and flog whatever high rates I have left after. Should be cheap as I have some big untradeables in the club (regular KDB, Alba and Allison some of the better ones)

He'd be a straight swap with TOTY Ramos in my team. I've also been trying my recently upgraded red Rashford as a RAM in my team, almost like using him as the loan card for the POTM card. He's good but a tad clunky. I do see he is pretty much +4 or +5 on every stat that isn't pace on the POTM variant. However with the headliner being there it would be a gamble.
I haven't used him yet. Will probably play a few games tonight so I'll have a verdict then.

I've just got back from the weekend away and learned EA have said there will not be another prime Icon SBC. There would only be the ones from the Icon Moments players, which cuts out us getting Gullit, Eusebio, R9 or Ronaldinho. I now regret doing Riijkard a little. He's good, but half the reason I did him was to turn him into one of the ones I mentioned before.
I’ve used FB Luiz for a few games and I’m really impressed. Seems to have no weakness and the fact he can dribble and pass out well from the back is a huge plus. Best CB I’ve used albeit the best CB I’ve got is Futmas Thiago Silva.

Whacked in 8 untradeable 82, an untradeable Keita 83, a shitty IF Che Adams (who admittedly got me one of the objective goals as a supersub) and Smolov, thinking at the very most I'd lose about 10k in opportunity cost for the Untradeables.
Got Felipe Anderson, of little use to me given I have a red untradeable who is now 87 and is my B Team, but netting 250k after tax. Literally only Ronaldo is worth more :D
Worked for the OTW player in the weekly objective after it turned out you can get any, not just a winter one. Just plugged 86 Werner in and off I went.
Doing this reminds me why I hate Rivals. I had people taking the ball into the corner in a rivals match on several occasions. People going 1-0 up and taking all 10 outfield players behind the ball and only playing counter attack.
I came up against I think 1 person doing the objective. I guessed so because he put his only TOTW player in Lala as a striker. It took me 17 games to do this, between losing and then winning some games without getting Werner to score etc. My reward was 81 Dembele who I had from before, so I had to put him into the SBC to get rid of the duplicate. It gave me Dembele right back. I threw it back in again and ended up with Piatek(?) Not the worst as he's playing well in real life but not worth all of that grind.
Errr sorry @Gray Fox. It really should be that one of us had a miserable spell that took ages but ground to an Anderson whilst the other enjoyed their games immensely, got it done in minimal time and ended up with Dembele but the selfish cunt in me is glad I had my cake and ate it...
Mind you, yes I am finding lots of 3-depth sides. I’m breaking them down though now, largely with Cavani first time shots and creating space for Griezmann, who scores from Van Basten-on-crack angles across goal all the time. Will miss him immensely when the time comes to let go of him (to replace Koke more than him, a LW Griezmann would be the stuff of dreams for me.

Weirdly, considering my previous forays into D4 were so unenjoyable I've avoided it for months, I'm really enjoying DR a lot more now I'm back there. Im 9-1 since promotion and enjoying the more enterprising spirit of the division. It actually seems less sweaty than D5, perhaps as everyone has a Ronaldo. I'm up to 1800 Skill Rating, so verging on D3. I only wish it didn't lock rewards to the division you started in, so I'd get the full D4 rewards tomorrow instead of the D5, but I've next Thursday to look forward to I guess.
I tried selling TOTY Marcelo off to fund Flashback Luiz, with the last thing I wanted being starting it but not being able to finish. I kept getting undercut almost instantly to the point where he wouldn't sell.
Didn't manage to sell him before 6pm so I've missed out. Manolas as a replacement seems good, but is much harder to link in so I doubt I'll be doing that one.

4 defeats on the spin now and I've scored once in those games. Being battered all over the shop. No idea why this standard of players are in Division 6.
Didn't have much to do with my money so bought 86 Lala(his headliner was very tempting but is double the price. I'm gambling on the Ligue 1 upgrades taking this IF to an 87, 88 if I'm really lucky.
I also bought the 93 CF Hazard. Both go into the team and I played some Rivals whilst changing tactics slightly. I've moved to 1 depth, drop back(can't beat it, join it) and fast build up.
There's a more noticeable gap now in my midfield due to how the ball transitions so fast in the game, but it's great to see my players flooding forwards once I win that ball back.
Hazard is a dream and I always seem to come back to him as a CAM. He really is the best one. He really does feel like a big upgrade on his 91 card. Though having now checked his in-game stats he's only really +1/2 in things that aren't shooting.
I was tempted to grab POTM Rashford here as he's cheaper than his Headliner card and according to FUTBIN his price has come down from 620k to 560k. If his price continues to tumble into tomorrow, I'll likely sell Hazard back and do Rashford.
I have about half the cost in the club right now, though I'd then have the Raul problem again.
And lastly I won several games on the bounce to get myself finally into Division 2. I'd hit 2199 skill rating a few times only to lose my next game. I don't want to push for Div 1, but we'll see how bad 2 is. I'd love it if I could self relegate down to 4/5 but it takes ages to do it.
With the way Lala is playing his HL will be a 90 in a month and a half.
I used his card in a single player draft (along with moments Best) and he is amazing, a right sided Marcelo.
Just finished my first club league SBC, Jisngsu Suning, completed exclusively with pack pulled players. Don’t think I’ve ever done an SBC before where I ended up with 100 chemistry with only 10 players added.
Somehow dropped to DR rank 2 despite being 2000 points over rank 1 at about 8pm last night. Took the untradeables as I’d cleaned a lot of them out of the squad and landed 87 Sterling, IF Coman, a random 82 rated IF and 84 Kepa along with 11k discard duplicates, and another 20kish of consumables and keepers - definitely worth taking over the coins.
I had D6, rank 2 rewards and they were awful.
Got so many duplicates that I could build 4 81-86 upgrade packs, which were also trash.
I've not touched FIFA this week, going to miss out on the OTW weekly objective as I'm not putting myself through that tonight. Did pop on to do the OTW SBC briefly on Monday, and got an untradeable Malcom from it. Not too great but I'm sure I can chuck him in an SBC in the future.
I was finding the objective ok, but last night was ludicrous. When you play 4 games and get no further forward it feels like and is a complete waste of time.
I do enjoy the objective they put out that reward players generally, but as you said, a losing streak just kills enjoyment. I've done Demirbay and Rafael Leao in recent weeks, and they both took me a lot of the Thursday night to finish off. For once, I'll give it a miss and avoid the stress.
Think I may need to sell IF Griezmann and replace with his RTTF. The value of the former is 100k less than I paid two months ago - not bad really, but I imagine will fall further once his RTTF further improves on Friday. The value of the latter is up to 1.2m, so will cost around 650k to upgrade. For day 1, there won't be much difference but if Atletico progress I see him continuing to increase in value, so it makes sense to upgrade and I do have 2m coins sat idle at the moment.
Not a lot doing in my Rivals rewards. In the 4 packs I only got 2 players rated over 82.
I've stuck Hazard up for sale as his current price would gain my coins back for no loss through tax. Bigger cards tend to be slower moving though.
Rashford is down to 540k as it stands, which isn't too far above what I was happy to pay for his 87. Any 84s and up in the rewards from him will knock a good chunk of price off, but I'm now reliant on Hazard selling sharpish.

I had the most bizarre game of FIFA before. My opponent was a possession type which is not unusual, however, whenever he won the ball from me in his own half past the centre circle, his next pass was always back to his keeper.
From there he would wait for the teams to sort into formation. Then what would happen is both his full backs would start to run forwards. I can only control one player so I'd track one, but the other would move in past the RAM/LAM into the space between that player and the full back. He'd then kick it to that player and instantly that side of the field would be overloaded and he'd have a massive advantage. I've never seen this done before and it really took me by surprise.
As for the Van Nistelrooy SBC. That has to be a joke? This is surely them testing the water?
I understand you want these to appear the most desirable cards in the game, but 1.7m? Jesus. I feel like they've seen just how many people have prepared well, as Merse has done here, with several Icons waiting to go. They've then decided to fuck those people over anyway.
If this really is how they want to play it then we're going to see someone like Gullit(lol at his card by the way. Only 3 stats under 85) cost a good 4-5m. You'll be basically asking us who have played up to this point if we're rather trade in everything we have for him.

Using Salah and I just can't quite get his best position nailed down. He seems very good but seems to almost bog down around the area. Now I'm thinking it could be me having the ball on his right foot. I'm almost hesitant to try those shots, but maybe I should be.

Up to 6-1 on the WL grind. The loss was quite frustrating. I got superkeepered and auto defended. Adding to the annoyance was my opponent scoring 2 goals. One was from the kick off after I'd just scored. The 2nd was from the second half kick off. I should have scored about 5 goals in this one, most notably Hazard. I managed to carve out some space between the penalty spot and edge of the area, very late on. Probably at about 45 degrees to the goal aimed to pull it back across. He scuffed it, unchallenged and unblocked. I timed it green as well.
Kondogbia looks amazing with the upgrade. Better in games than middle Vieira, and the nation change has only meanthaving to position change Cavani and Griezmann to accommodate, though it decreases future flexibity. Especially with Suarez also in midfield and suffering from a lack of viable strong links.

He's dropped like a stone in price too despite the upgrade. He's amazing if you can fit the new nationality in.
I'm enjoying Salah a little more in WL gameplay, although still not sure he deserves the near 800k price.
Payet's an interesting one. I wouldn't say he represents value at all, but I could probably grind the 81-86 upgrade packs and do him, which would then mean I can get Falcao in the team on 10 chemistry, which would be fapworthy.
I see Ruud is down to 1.6m on Xbox now. People shunning him hard, which they should be as his requirements are a genuine disgrace.
If you can get a Catalyst card on Falcao he's very good actually. A Hunter is a waste due his mental shooting already.
Manolas is also down to 190k. The market seemingly recovering from the absolute rinsing the 84s and up took.

I've had a very weird time of it this evening. My first game back on saw my opponent pick up an insta-red card to his full back. Most don't bring spare defenders on their bench and he hadn't, so he was screwed. I switched to my possession tactic and wore him down. Then came the shit. Back-to-back opponents who went all out defence but had tall players across their front line. Their plan was to absorb, send it down the wing and lump it to the back post. This seems to be my kryptonite as it worked a treat for them. Zlatan v Lala really isn't a fair match.
Then I faced a guy I was beating easily. 2-0 and relatively cruising. He scored one late on and I thought nothing of it. Then he had another attack and I held him up in the box. Next thing I know Rijkaard makes an auto lunge and takes out his player in the 91st to gift him a late equaliser. Then in ET I had a golden chance to win at the death but decided to cut it across to make sure of the goal. His keeper made a huge lunge over to stop the ball. He launched it up the field and hit a pot shot in the 123rd minute, which of course flew in. The guy even sent a message of apology after the game.

8-1 start to the weekend, the only loss being a drubbing, but continuing to play really incisive Fifa and have kept 6 clean sheets. Kondogbia’s upgrade is tangible, he feels much more mobile (not that he wasn’t already pretty decent in that regard). Not sure I can feel Cavani’s, but he has been dominant as usual.
3 Game streak came to an end against this mob - a 23million coin team. Absolute Filth. Pogba, Griezmann and Neymar off the bench too. Took him to extra time and conceded in the worst way possible - a cross, fumbled by Courtois and Ronaldo mishitting it home past Varane on the line :moop: in the 117th minute, and then a DC to end the game immediately.
I mean... How much money does it take to put this together, as this guy was Elite 1 at best - no way a top 100/pro type...

I've played a few games with Piatek and quite like him. Great in the air and a cracking finish. Shame he's got no skill/WF but his card will surely get a bunch of upgrades.
I find weak foot a loss less of an issue this year as long as you’ve got a really high stat in what’s being asked - Cavanis 97/99 finishing/shot power and Griezmann’s similar mean they actually score belters off their 3* regularly.
Pretty much 50:50 in form since the last update, so I’m now 12-6 though one of those really wrankles as I was 2-1 up until the 92nd when he equalised then defended his way to a penalty’s victory.
I'm 14-8 now. Another loss in 90+ minutes injury time, which takes my total of games lost by 'buzzer beaters' to 5. I should perhaps think about taking the ball to the corner.
My last loss however was a strange one. It was 1-0 to me for a long time. I then scored the 2nd in about the 80th minute. As soon as I did I saw the pause queued up and assumed the rage quit was due. However about 10 seconds in the message comes up to say I've lost connection to my opponent, followed by one saying I'd been disconnected from EAs servers. My Xbox Live connection never dropped and no other internet services in the house were affected. I'm very suspicious of this.
I'll probably play to 17 wins and stop. If I get there inside 4 games I'll try to 20. I feel like everything possible has gone wrong this weekend.
I had a similar thing to that in Division Rivals Fox. Dodgy as fuck.
Before I forget later, I thought I'd post. EA advertise their tournament streams with viewership reward possibilities. I always stick them on and mute them in the background. I've been getting free kits most of the time, but last one I got a free pack from it(I think a 25k one). Nothing out of it but it was free.
I did it once (they do it for their MUT streams, the packs suck but they give you them at least 6 days a week) and got fuck all.

Yesterdays woes well and truly banished in that run. I thought it was all going to unravel at one point in the 2nd game. It was another player insistent on only crossing and defending deep. He got 2 ridiculous rebound goals to help him go 3-2 up late. Luckily supersub Sterling came up trumps for me in the 87th. With no further goals we went to extra time. I had him penned back for almost all of it, but a break away from him saw him score just as the clock hit 120. I pumped the ball forwards as fast as I could and scraped a corner. It was cleared, but not far enough to trigger full time. I sent a driven pass back in, in hope. Sterling just got free and smashed it into the top corner in the 124th minute.
To penalties and it was obvious he couldn't take them. His were either straight down the middle or he'd put it wide. So I took the win and from there raced up to 20 wins.
Went into my final 5 games on 18 wins, with slimmest chance of Elite, so it was gutting that two of the next 4 were lost in extra time to a single goal. Still 20–9 is a decent weekend after all. Looking forward to my first rewards in a fortnight come Thursday, timed with my first D4 rewards, so I’ll be making sure finish Rank 1 and make the most of Thursday morning.

Nep has a theory that they're dropping so much because they're not fully classes as icons. You can't use them in the icon SBCs and they're dropping in drafts like regular golds.

Did a draft with 15k coins for the fun of it and had great fun with Cruyff, Eusebio and Maradona. Could only fit Maradona in at CDM (4-1-2-1-2 wide) and he was immense there running from deep. The stand out though was Headliner Werner, who with a deadeye is just incredible. Won 2-0 (rage Quit), 5-1, 5-0 (rage quit), 6-0 (rage quite before half time). Maldini was my rock at the back and easily the best CB I've played with.
Gold 2 x rare gold packs and a premium gold pack back. 2 walkouts - Buffon and Ozil and 2 83 rated into the club with 5k discards. A good night all in all.

He's theorised that the only bad spot to lose is the Semi-final. Everywhere else you should at least make your 15k entry fee back. All the TOTY and Super Icons possible makes it worth trying as well.

I've been looking at the rewards for Rivals Div 2 now I'm here for the first time. Seems much more rewarding here. I don't quite have a grasp on the points needed per rank, but I only played 28 games of WL and haven't touched Rivals since the latest refresh, yet I've only just been knocked into Rank 3.
Rank 3 will get me as untradeable, 2 Rare Players Packs and 2 Rare Electrum Players packs.
Rank 2 is 6 Mega Packs and 2 Jumbo Premium Gold packs.
Rank 1 is 4 Mega Packs, 2 Rare Mega Packs and 2 Rare Mixed Players Packs
For completing WL Rank 3 is a guarantee. By the looks of it, Rank 2 will require a few games on top, maybe 4 or 5 through a given week. Whilst rank 1 is only on about 18.5k points at the time of typing. Considering how little effort Rank 2 should be I think it's the sweet spot here, but it should provide a nice balance between all the yummy consumables needed and potential for a player pull.
It does show why people are willing to self relegate though. If I were to get myself down to Div 4, I could earn Rank 2 now without playing a single Rivals game and get 2 Mega Packs, 2 Jumbo Premium Gold Packs but also 2 Rare Players Packs. Literally zero work other than playing WL to get that.
Played two games last night and finally came to the realisation that I just don't enjoy this game. I love the collectable aspect and squad building but I just don't have fun playing matches.
The new icons sum it up for me currently. I'd like to have one but I'd have to dedicate so much time per week (or throw in more money) to afford one and playing those games just feels like a chore most of the time.
I'll follow the thread and updates still but I'm pretty sure that's me done for the year.
It seems they've listened to feedback and are now making the Icon SBCs without the 30 day time limit. They also made Seedorf a little cheaper by removing the extra 85 rated squad.
He's just over 1.4m which is still a tad pricey for my liking, but at least you don't have to tick them all off in 30 days now.

The midfield of dreams. I had Viera set to stay back, Modric was left balanced and Pogba set to get forward. It worked perfectly. I even enjoyed Pogba who I usually struggle to use right.
That forward line was also fantastic. I can't really say enough about Eusebio. Felt like a card that's 10m+ Best also felt like his Prime has taken PEDs. Vinicius feels like a Neymar that is harder to knock off the ball. My only complaint of the 3 is Vinicius sometimes is unreliable on his weak foot.
The left side of defence was meh, but after being given those before I can't really complain. I did get the FFS Mendy on the bench. I brought him on for Nacho in all 4 games.
Ran through to the final and won, only really being troubled in the semi final. My opponents formation countered mine so it was a very end to end game. Great fun was had though.
Unfortunately I got 2 gold packs and 2 jumbo gold packs as my reward. A shadow card in there means I may have scraped back most of my entry fee.
Decent morning for me. 81 Vermeer and 84 Zaha were disappointing red picks, but got also got Vermeer IF in the Fut Champs packs along with 5 x 83-84's.
Took tradeables from DR Rewards and got another 4 or 5 83-84's, along with Aubameyang 88, who's sold for 112k. Handy day, probably 200k up in coins + value of those now in the club.
Got an Utrecht CB worth 30k in last nights draft reward as well. Will keep him for now as I may be doing the Eredivisie SBC, albeit I'm 50/50.

Positives here are the FUT Swaps this month are genuinely awesome. I can't decide which of them I want. I bet Yev will love these on his first owner account too.
Cannavaro seems cheap(1.1m) for the boosted Icons. I just don't know if I could ever play a 5"9 CB in the current state of the game.
With Mbappe and Neymars special cards back in packs it might be a good time to put resources into the 81+ Ligue 1 upgrades. There's so few rare golds in the league rated above 81 that you're looking good on boards for most packs.

Negative side is that the big streamers/Youtubers have started a new phrase call the "fun leave" or "fun quit" claiming they weren't having fun so have left. The downside here is that they're purposefully pulling games back level before leaving, so the opponent gets nothing.
The other thing they're doing that's quite irritating is the 193 draft competition. They're loading up on FIFA points and using them to enter the draft. If the draft isn't 193 rated they're quitting out instantly in their first match and trying again. They're competing to see who does it first. I've seen them waste hundreds on this as well.
Ultimate Pack yielded Buffon, Navas, Khedira, a random 76 IF and some other 84s/83s. Pretty good all in all.
I opened up one Rare Mega Pack using coins and pulled 84 IF Zaha. As I managed to get him as my red FUT Champions player pick, sold him instantly for 24k and comfortably made profit across the whole pack. Sorely tempted to rinse through them all now.

An 87 rated IF with good nationality is a great value at 6 tokens. I'm not quite sure Hulk should be 8, based on the previous sentence. Lala is decent for a pittance and I'm glad they've reduced the 100k pack to 9 tokens.
The big boys is where it's at though. I'm leaning towards Goretzka at 10 tokens. He's a live item and both he and Bayern are hitting form. This also leaves 4 tokens to pick up 81 Lala as well.
Costa is very good as is, but the change in stats hitting him could render him useless. Foden looks good too, as a 200k card for a pittance. I like this month a lot, but I'm not sure the biggest 2 are going to be worth it come the end of it. Still I'll be trying to get the full 14 for once.

As for the Swap Deals. It's disappointing that they're not unique cards, but I think the offering is good, albeit a little random in places.
The bigger problem I have at the moment is losing connection to the EA Servers, it's making the game unplayable.
I'm assuming so, but have you tried port forwarding? It probably wont do a thing, but I'm assuming you've tried most conventional methods. I couldn't connect to some of the guys in here before I did it and had troubles playing with friends too.
Did the Draft Token reward and entered the draft. Got TOTY Modric and Kante along with The Best Best and OP Del P. All of those four are incredible. I had to bodge the defence. I got a random brazil non-rare gold from Serie A that linked to Headliner Alex Sandro but other than him the best defender I got was Bartra.
I ended up moving subbing Bale on at LB and moved Sandro to LCB.
It was good fun. Best scored almost all of my goals. I've used his old prime version and it felt good, but this card is another level. If he were to drop tonight I'd be hard pressed to not do him.
Apparently we are due 4 more Icons until the end of this mini-event. They really need to start dropping the big guns soon. I really don't want to be seeing someone like Laudrup or Kluivert. It'd also be hard to stop me doing Gerrard if he comes out.
Petit is the one that we get. Looks tempting but expensive.

Have contrived to go from 8-2 to 15-11 this weekend. Really struggling at the moment against a lot of ultra aggressive, high press types, giving up a lot of leads losing the ball in my own half.

It is, but it's very much player dependant. Some have just stuck it on despite it not suiting them and you can break through them pretty easily. It's those who combine it with AI defending that are the problem. You can put your controller down until you get the ball and pretty much force your opponent into long shots.
The problem I'm having is dealing with crosses to CR7. He beats VVD in the air regularly which I find laughable. I'm 11-2 myself and will probably not play much more. I'm in bed early tomorrow night so no chance I'll be playing all of my games.
I've found switching to 4-3-3(5) is giving me much more control in games. Preventing the above mentioned scumbag tactics. I've had a few 1-0 wins in this, with possession around 60% which I'd not have thought possible usually.
POTM Sterling feels like a big upgrade to the last time I stated him. He seems to glide with the ball and is more reliable kicking it now.
Fuck. 16-14. Worst weekend in a long while. Playing through the early hours is always a bastard, but today I just found myself being assaulted. Everyone was super aggressive in defence, very attacking and playing that haphazard ball-bouncing-everywhere way that feels so difficult to deal with. I’m not sure if there’s a new aggressive, attack minded meta - if there is, I welcome it - and I’m not coping with adapting to it, or whether it’s just the opponents I got this evening/morning.

So it appears the position change issue is finally fixed. Haven't noticed it which is good.
I'm now playing a 41212(2) on my return. I was struggling in rivals with my usually 4231 narrows. I play balanced, and all sliders on 5 except for depth which is all the way up. That sounds crazy, but it works really well for me. The middle is congested and most players I come across don't play with width, even if they do. I'm don't concede many headers at all. I need to work on my team though. I want some new players but can't afford them yet.

Its been like that since december. Hazard as a CAM is nasty. Those small players in that position on a free role cause havoc. Since changing formation, my strikers no longer score goals. It all comes from midfield.

He looks a good CAM, but is again too expensive to consider. 1.6m currently. I'm guessing people are just not doing these as Petit is now below 1.4m. Seedorf and Cannavaro down about 1.1m as well. Again though, we're getting middling ones that are good, but are they going to replace TOTS players that are coming up? Give us a big one for fucks sake.

I'll also be making some St Pat's investments. That, along with Fut Birthday might bring a card or two I'm keen on, but I'm not hopeful.

I didnt see any point in releaseing moment icons. It would have been much better if they released icons that are lower than the lowest icons or just random moments. How many icons are left to release as SBC. It looks like there are at least 20?

Struggled to 11-9 this weekend. Found the gameplay to be so stodgy, with a ton of button lag. I definitely got outclassed in a few games by better players, but I lost a few where I would expect to be winning. With no major weekly objectives, I might take a break this week.

The point that could be argued is that the OP Icons were needed due to the Prime's losing their value this year due to soooooo fucking many special cards. It's rendered Hero/MOTM and TOTW cards almost utterly pointless, to the extent that only Suarez and Lala's every show up in FUT Champs and the two of them are pretty much just there to service One To Watch and Headliners cards. The second batch shows more meaningful upgrades - Vieira, Gullit and Desailly just about justify the SBC's now (if the same as their primes would have been / were last year).
I don't necessarily mind the addition of the Prime Icons, they've just handled it badly (as they have done with icons all year) and are still releasing cards that nobody really wants, for a price that isn't worth paying.
So Giggs then.
Looks like 200k to 300k to upgrade the Prime if you already have him.
It's a shit card anyway, so I doubt anyone's really arsed.

If you're a casual he'd be pretty great for your team, but you won't be able to afford him and if you're not a casual and can afford him there are so many better options. Seedorf for one if you must do a current SBC and even he's not spectacular.

2* WF and 3* skills make it even worse. The only person that card serves is a die hard United fan with loads of spare coins about.

I was testing out a new 4-1-2-1-2 though some of it. Changed from fast build up to a possession version in which the full backs push up, instructed to overlap and join the attack.
It worked well in penning you back as I got more used to it, but as you saw, the right pass on the counter and you were in to score.

Bought a Kimoembe for 345k having seen Tagliafico go extinct at a 300% markup. Fancy PSG to do the business and he might just be my new CB in place of Ramos if his upgrade takes his base defending to 90 and he hits 85 jumping.

I can't deal with this oppressive pressing as soon as I win the ball, as I regularly win it in my final third and then have 4 players on me, no outlets and clearances seem to hit the pressers all the time. You've also got that thing down where I fend you off, turn away press to pass and you've nicked the ball from between my legs, behind me. Happened vs Ramos and Varane a few times. Most infuriating. Well played - I'd say I only meet a couple of your quality in each weekend at most.

My first set of red picks has popped up and I'm looking at 87 Fekir but also 91 VVD in it.

Fekir is at 90k now and will drop, so if I wanted to try him I could buy him, whereas Virgil is over 500k. It's daft that I can't re-roll him or anything, but it's still an amazing red.

You have to take him in that scenario. If for nothing more than the +4 for SBC.
What about a repeatable SBC where you need to submit a player, and you get another player of equal rating. You submit the 91 VVD, and you could get anyone in between a 91 Sergio Ramos and a 91 Ronaldinho :drool:

The name and style of the promo indicates to me we're looking at flair/skiller type players. So you could see anything from Ronaldinho down to Ben Arfa.

I've been trying that 4-1-2-1-2 with the full backs playing as wingers and it's beast.
Absolutely smashed Squad Battles this week as a result. On 32k of points with today's games yet to play.
How is squad abttles this FIFA? It was the only game mode I played in 18, but Ive transitioned to online in 19. I still have bad habits from that game mode which is costing me now.

It's ok. I enjoyed it on 18 more, but that's because it was a piece of piss and, as you say, fostered habits as a result that were of no help online.
Main difference is the opposition seems to sit deep 90% of the time and only breaks that habit when the AI is in full on tika-taka mode, which is less fun, but helpful to a degree in that my biggest failure at this game is breaking defences down.
I seem to have come on a lot in the last couple of weeks (it was amazing how much using that pack only team developed my gameplay) and I'm averaging 2,000 points a game now, which means I can get Elite 1 for SB comfortably from only 25 games per week.
Is it me or is that Carnival team mostly absolute arse?
EDIT: For example, Muller would need to hit a mid 90s rating before he'd be useable and they've given us an 89. :cab:
Surprisedto see another another neymar CAM but looking at the stats . There is a serious lack of Brazilian attacking options with only Firmino and Coutinhio above 86 rated and they already have FUTMAS cards so giving Neymar another card is the only option.

The gameplay is really struggling with whatever they're doing behind the scenes right now. I've been trying to push 10 games out in the day as I'm out all day tomorrow. I sit 6-4.
More annoying to me is I've been 2 goals clear in all games bar one. My defence, particularly Robertson and Lala are causing me issues. Neither are really strong enough or fast enough today.
I'm not playing great as I've felt forced into playing. I prefer late night games. I'll have to push more out later tonight too. Hoping to see some good objectives or SBCs hit later.

That he's 5* WF and 4* Skills, 95 Stamina and 86 strength, whilst being 6"3. Makes him pretty perfect for this meta. 1.9m though.

8-0 so far this weekend.
Managed to do that loan with untradeable club items, which has allowed me to link him to Neymar, who comes back in for Sterling. I lose the absurd pace in behind, but gain better dribbling, finishing and WF.
Only 10 games sucks, but I'll give him a go.
Scored two and grabbed an assist for me in the one game I used him. He's good, and has a better pace rating than Suarez but his acceleration with a hunter (Suarez has 99 with his catalyst) is noticeably worse. Seems more of a striker for me, which is difficult to sign up to when Cavani is banging them in at a 1 per game ratio.
See that's my worry with him. He looks like he deserves to be a CAM. However I've been playing Messi exclusively at CAM and in 29 games there he has 39 goals and 15 assists.
Still that's what the loan is for.
The things you can do with Messi are obscene Fox, so I'd keep him there if I were you.
Got Weah and the Silver pack for the Mexican league objective and now up to 50 packs stored.

What's the skill move where you exit a bit of fancy footwork with a burst of pace? I do it by accident with Mbappe when I'm waggling the right analogue stick now and again so it might be 5 star one.

I used to do it a lot when I had Salah as he was super effective at it.
Heel-to-heel is a good one for a little acceleration. La Croqueta is the one where you shimmy the ball out to one side and move it forward at a bit of speed.
You can hit any of them with a quick burst if you tap RT as you exit the move.
I've just finished another mini session and I've moved up to 10-4 which is a little more respectable. Now I'm pretty sure I've been playing this whole time with LT jammed on, so I'm pretty happy with that and it explains why people have been getting by my defence so easily. It may also explain my gameplay feeling slow, when maybe it isn't.

Germany is interesting because it means either Lehmann, which would be very meh, or Matthaus, one of the best looking midfield cards in the game.
Holland has 7 OP Icons, but we've already got RvN and Seedorf. That leaves Cruyff, Van Basten, Gullit, Bergkamp and Kluivert.

I have Keane and Pogba, the former on stay back, the latter on 'balanced'. I really like how they work together.
Keane and Kante if your only aim is to be defensive.
If you also want them helping in attack, bring in Pogba.

After playing about 250 games in 2 months on FUT after I bought it, I've not touched the game for about 2. Standard.
I haven't tried Kante this year bar some single player draft but Keane and Pogba (especially HL) is grand.
Having looked closer at Benjamin Mendy, he's good if you have exclusively an EPL team. However if just a French LB will work, then Ferland Mendys FFS card seems much, much better overall. He's about 80-90k more expensive, but is tradeable.
Mendy doesn't strike me as particularly good value. Desailly though, not bad.

Every shot he took seemed to just sear into the top corners, and every time I took possession he'd have masses of players back. One of the most frustrating games I've played, I've had to take a break to just relax after that.

I've just finished my recovery from 6-4 to 14-4. I didn't manage to pick up my new controller so I'm struggling along with this as it is. Just came through 2 tight games.
The first saw me have 60% possession and camped out on the edge of his area. Some last ditch blocks and saves kept it 1-0 until the last kick of the first half, which he smashed in. He then scored from kick off in the 2nd half. In pushing I conceded another, but had just about got the measure of him by then. Scored one from a disgusting cut back and then equalised in the 88th minute. His team was fucked for stamina after that and I took over in ET.
The 2nd game was frustrating. He was a skiller, but only when he got to the edge of my area. The AI twice gave away penalties lunging at him during a skill move. Still managed to come back and pull off the win in normal time. Felt like I was playing well too.
Not sure if I want to play on to 17/20 tomorrow, or start on the silver player grind.
Maybe even less - they have it at 1.23m, but I think you also have to factor in that every fucker has plenty of 86-90 untradeable . Think I only submitted 3 or 4 In Forms.Quote:

I'm finding goals per game going the roof in those games where I score first. Everyone flits between something very counter attacking and mentally offensive - in a lot of my wins I find the opposition are ending the game in a 424, and I think switching to it quite early when I'm in ascendancy. Your defence appearing worse is probably more subjective of the sheer amount of top quality attackers being available to almost everyone by now. At the start of the game you rarely saw an 86+ striker, whereas now Griezmann is only 70k coins.
I find the best way to deal with the drop back, 1 depth guys is to bring out a 4-3-3(5). Set it to possession and your defence of choice. Set the full backs and CDM to stay back and have one CM getting forward with the other staying on the edge of the box.
I choose press after possession loss. Your team will gegenpress the shit out of the ball and you're better served getting it back or just fouling them. This stops the whole point of their attack and keeps them on the back foot.
Once you are 1-0 up, pass it around the back for a bit. If he's not budged from his original tactic, you'll have no pressure on you and can keep the ball all you want. If he changes up to come and get it, you've got what you wanted there as well.

Lost 6 of my last 9 games played to creak into Gold 2 this weekend with 17-11 as my overall record. Took a look at Benjamin Mendy 87. Compared to christmas Van Aanholt 81. Van Aanholt total stats 477, Mendy 475. Total in game stats Van Aanholt 2224, Mendy 2188. How the fuck is he a 87 rated?

Kurzawa is much better than Mendy from the stats. He's a nightmare to play too - struggled vs him a few times already. NIF Mendy is too much of a tanker for me, imagine similar from this one and the other Mendy (F from Lyon) is miles better - have played with him in draft.

I Ive won 20 games in WL. Hazard as CAM with Figo and Ronaldo as ST is really working well for me. The weak link at the moment is pogba. I think it is his low defensive work rate, he just stands on the right channel when my opponents gets the ball. He is untradeable, but I think upgrading him next is the next step

The company card is exceptional. The cost of it is not. I do however have untradeables I'd be willing to chuck in to get him, but not sure if I'd regret using them.
I'm 8/9 on getting Emre Can. I'm trying to chuck Frenchies on to get them a goal towards Ben Arfa as well. I'm 4/8 on them. I've had 10 games of it so far, with the loss coming in penalties.
It's a good challenge although it's making me appreciate my normal team so much more. The passing is so off and after using Messi it's so hard to try and do quick little movements with silvers.
I only spend about 6k making the team so I'm pretty happy with the results so far.
Won't Kompany just be rinsed for pace?

I'm torn between playing on in WL and starting up on the Brazil games.
Played 3 more and won 3 more in the WL. I didn't realise it but going from 6-4 to 17-4 took me on an 11 game win streak. God knows what happened Friday.
I then moved into the Talisca challenge. It's fair to say cobbling together a German side was much cheaper. The Brazil Silvers are all about 4k a pop for a decent one. I've ended up spending about 20k, but I figure the match coins will get me most of the loss in tax back.
I'm 6/10 for it now, having completed Ben Arfa along the way. So far it's not been too much of a drag. Should well complete it tomorrow.

Ive replaced De Gea with Carniball Lloris who is super agressive of his line. Any balls over the top of my defence and he is already rushing out with his 'Rushes out of goal' trait.
I tried that Emre Can out in the 2nd half of one of my games and he seemed very good even as a sub. I brought him on for Rijkaard and can't say I noticed too much difference apart from getting about the pitch a bit more.
Beware of spoilers whilst doing the silver challenges. By this I mean there are people doing these that are keeping top tier cards on their bench. If you start winning against them, they'll say screw it and bring on CR7 or Mbappe or someone else your shit silvers can't deal with. I've had it happen once, even though I still won.

The best part is all of my Brazil Silvers have sold back on for a at least 1k more than I bought each for. So I've made money in doing this somehow.

It is Del Piero. No duplicate squads but a fair few TOTW needed. I'd suggest 1.5m at first glance.
They've also released Pitch Notes acknowledging gameplay issues and stating they're taking the rest of FIFA 19 to sort it out for now and the future.
Del Piero looks decent with a hawk and good value. I've got 15 odd TOTWs as well, so another I could easily do without killing the club, it's just the stamina and strength putting me off, along with the prospect of Ronaldinho.

So after starting 4-5 last weekend, I managed to recover and go on a bit of a winning streak. Finished 14-9 and reached Gold 3 for the first time in a while. Fucking awful rewards for doing so though, my 2 picks being 82 Ake and 81 Kuba. The 50k pack didn't even give me a board.
On a better note, just finished up all the Carniball player weekly objectives. It felt remarkably easy and I don't think anyone I played really adapted to using silver cards. Nearly every opponent I faced were trying to play first time passing, facing the wrong way and incessantly sprinting, and I was able to put so much pressure on through constant interceptions and tackles. I only lost 3 games whilst winning 19. I did encounter what I'm assuming is a glitch - twice I went 1-0 down early and the game disconnected within 10 seconds. Some people will just do anything to get the objective done.

Wesley Said was my supersub whilst using the German players, and got 10 goals and 5 assists in 11 games. Best moment came in a very scrappy game against a fairly even opponent, very late on in stoppage time Both of our teams were flagging quite visibly but my winger managed to get down the line and put in a fairly awful low cross. Said got to the ball first and side-footed the ball gently past the keeper, trickling over the line. One of those incredibly satisfying FIFA moments.

Romarinho was fairly impressive in a lone striker role, with 8 goals and 6 assists in 11 games. He scored a couple of incredible winners into the top corner from ridiculous distances, prompting a few rage quits. He was pretty weak on the ball, but the pace and dribbling meant he could skip around the silver defenders easily.

Elton is a bit of silver legend, always found him in the Brasilver squads of old. He's still just as good and the 5 star skill moves with his dribbling stat make him so much fun to use. He was the best player by some distance in either squad I used; in 11 games, he scored 10 and assisted 11. Like Said, he also provided a satisfying 90th minute winner against someone who had paused the game 3 times when he took the load, presumably expecting me to leave.
All in all, my favourite weekly objective of this sort we've had so far and I just hope EA can offer similar in the future.
I had that glitch happen to me multiple times so I'd guess it is an exploit somewhere. From a little digging it only seems to be Xbox related, so maybe something involving the dashboard?
I'll agree with you in that you could definitely feel those players who needed their high rated golds to play. A nice challenge, just a shame it's so rare we get these.
But now I have the 2 main cards the question is, what of FUT Swaps?
I've apparently missed one somewhere(was there a day 1 SBC?) so can no longer get Foden. Costa could be rendered useless by the coming stat swaps and there's no point in 81 Lala or the Hulk card for me.
That's only really leaving 3 options. OTW Goretzka, 87 Suso or the 100k pack. Suso will be great SBC fodder for no money spent. The 100k pack depends entirely on luck, but Goretzka is now rendered a lot less worthy by the Emre Can objective I just won.
At this point just taking Suso and being done with it seems most sensible.
Forgot to redeem WL. We should be able to get in after the event has started. I dont see any beneifit of locking you out like this.

Matthaus coming in at 2.2m seems reasonable. He's pretty there on par with TOTY Modric and looks beastly. I'm entertaining it somewhat as the moment, and had Koke lost his pace today (instead they've boosted it further, shifted the other boost to passing and made him with a Sniper an even more bloody incredible attacking threat as a B2B player) I'd likely have waded in.

I think he's a tad too much, but he's very much in your team for the rest of the game. The only thing he really lacks is jumping.

The games played has convinced me it is time for Robertson to go though. He's just not strong enough now that Ronaldo and the Icons are becoming more prevalent. He can't jump either.
I've been looking at who I could bring in and it's down to 4 really. Telles and Ferland Mendy seem best value for coins, but linking them in would be a pain. The more top end options of HL Sandro and TOTY Marcelo are much easier to link, but in the case of the former, I'd probably have to drop Messi and the latter would require restructuring the team and selling off big names.
Flashback De Rossi is out and he looks fantastic. However EA have made him cost 240k...

There's been some right bullshit in some of those games as well. I've lost 2 games I had no right losing, the last of those involved me having 3 cut backs, but the waiting striker took a touch despite me spamming B. This happened all 3 times. The match eventually went to pens at 1-1. I scored my first 5, then had his last pen hit the post(I stayed middle with my keeper) and rolled across the line but coming back out. My keeper then dived and knocked it back in. I obviously then lost in sudden death.
I've also properly stolen at least 2 games as well. I'd no business winning those games but managed to take what few chances I had.
Why do FB Sturridge users constantly score proper aids goals?
What's the point reading an intercepting if an onrushing attacker immediately wins it reight back with perfect control?
Just lost 4-1 to a guy who played drop back and then exclusively scored goals where I read and won the ball and he immediately, not even half a second after he wins the balls and scores.
There's obviously a knack to it, as I play people who seem to excel in it, whilst I never benefit from it myself. It's so fucking frustrating though.
I've taken to slide tackling the bastards. The ball or the man can get past, but not both.
Satisfyingly, just did a Scotland and came back from 4-0 down to a meta sheep, 1 depth cunt with a red CR7 to win 5-4.

The brightest thing this weekend has to be FFS Lafont, who's been immense in goal - a proper upgrade on Courtois.
Won the next 3 to take me up to 20-5.
Gameplay was buttery smooth and it allows me to play so much better in both attack and defence. A 3-0, 3-0 and 1-0 series saw me do it with some comfort. At +15 record my ELO is now at max though, so opponents from here will be tough. Considering I'm up early tomorrow I'll be leaving it there. I can't be doing with playing the last 5 out and missing out on the final game.
Messi and Neymar feel magical in good gameplay. I do hope they can sort it out somehow.
I completed the SBC for POTM Brandt over the weekend, virtually for free from players in my club. I've built a second squad for some Rivals gameplay to mix things up using POTM Brandt, Headliners Demirbay and Carniball Can - starting as 4-5-1 and moving to a 4-2-3-1 with 3 CAMs. From what little I've played with Brandt in this squad and coming on as a sub for Weekend League, he feels pretty electric, and has a cracking shot.
I personally ended up 11-8 this weekend - not happy overall with some preventable losses in there. Lost 3 on the trot to open the weekend up on Friday and the gameplay felt awful, lots of button lag. I should have guessed it was going to be a bad start when I got thumped 8-3 in the first game despite having more shots, possession, etc.
Managed to get my 11th win at about 2am this morning, winning 3-2 in extra time, and this all after I had Carvajal sent off in the 9th minute. I took a 2-0 lead despite this, but slipped to 2-2 late on. Thankfully snatched the win in the 105th minute thanks to Brandt scoring the winner.
Bergkamp looks good value.

If FUTBIN is to be believed Bergkamp was 1.2m before they pulled him. Seems a good card, if not let down by the physicals a little. It needs only 3 TOTW items and an Icon, which means I bet my coin balance Merse will do him before the weekend.

The Yedlin and more importantly De Rossi SBCs expire tomorrow at 6 as a PSA. I've played against the latter twice and found him a right pain in the ass both times.
I really want it, but 2 things put me off. 1 is that he's hard to link unless you did Manolas SBC and have Florenzi. 2 is that we'e nearly out of March now and FUT birthday is coming, followed quickly by TOTS.
That 250k would likely be able to buy one or two TOTS cards, which will likely be at least as good as this one.

I like the idea of saving packs, but I dont think it is worth it. Im also guessing, but given how EA are with all type of fuckris. I would even say if they see you saving packs, they turn down the pack weight even more.

Reached divison 3 last night for the first time. Im undefeated ever since I added flashback De Rossi, UCL Florenzi and Kante on agressive interceptions. Sitll probably only good enough for Gold 1 in WL. We will see.

Its only Kante who is on agrresive. Yes it does, but his stamina is good anyway so he can complete 120 minutes no problem. The facts that you can apply squad fitness at the end of every game is problem for me. It means people can press heavy for the whole game, without much penalty. Yes I know, it depletes stamina but not as much as it really should if you ask me.
No new Icon again is disappointing. I'm itching to get these packs open and chuck them into one I want.

I mean player wise we know what we're likely to get in the team. ST/LB Bale, CDM David Luiz etc. Maybe a CB Fabinho this year. But by this point we're here for those 10 Icons.
If Sinceres' list is correct we have 27 left to get, but I could quite easily see us being left wanting again. However assuming we get none of the top dogs, we'll be left where there isn't to be much else left after. I don't think we'll see Pele, Maradonna or R9 here, but more likely some that will entice a certain audience.
For example I reckon we'll get Gerrard, Van Basten and Schmeichel, which will appeal to a fair few without being the ultimate ones we want. I do however think we will see Henry and Roberto Carlos.
As for the Twitch thing, what a load of shit that is. Talk about scratching each others backs. I notice it's the ones who don't criticise the game and put the most money into it that have been chosen. As a side note, I find Castro absolutely infuriating.
The odds of actually pulling anything from that is going to be minute if the usual EA numbers are anything to go by.
Free pack is good too, though I never seem to get the Ultimate pack.
I've run the numbers and I think my dip onto a second account will see me with the Rare Mega.
How does the Twitch stuff actually work?
You have to link your Twitch account to your EA account.
Usually EA do this during the big tournaments to get the numbers up, but at random points throughout the stream it will randomly assign a prize reward to your account and when you next log into UT it will show up.
In the EA streams it is usually anything from a kit up to a prime Icon/TOTY player. Obviously very few get the top prize.
It's just a way of getting you into the stream. I've watched dozens of EAs streams and only got anything more than the kit once.
So they're now handing out those rewards while popular streamers stream? What a racket.
They do it 6 days a week (along with giveaways) with the official MUT stream.

I’m still on course for all 14 and the sensible thing to do for SBC purposes would be Suso and Hulk, but I suspect I’ll end up going for the Jumbo Rare Players and Rare Mega packs to add to the pile.
The other players on offer just aren’t good enough to bother with, doing the German goals thing hammered that home when using a team of reasonable high rated Germans - they were bad and not a patch on my first 11.
If they won’t get in your team, don’t bother would be my mantra at this stage.

It really wouldn't surprise me though if each streamer only drops 1 single OP Icon to their stream. The views it's pulling is insane though. For example just today Bateson has gained 440 subs so far, at £5 a pop that's over 2 grand in his pocket.
