Maybe one ball per frame should be designated the embassy ball, could even do a bit of tobacco sponsorship, and if you pot that one it doesn't come out of the pocket and you lose the frame and/or your life.
It seems that it only appears in the event of somebody completing a 147 break. If you're going to have a 20 point golden ball, at least have it coming out as a deciding ball any time the frame is closer than 20 points. These guys are rubbish.

This golden ball idea sounds like the impetus snooker needs and I'm going to become a die hard snooker fan with immediate effect.
