The whole transfer amortization thing is part of the picture, but is included in the overall figures. As you say it's over a three year period. They can lose £500m in a single year if they make (£395m of) it up in the other two.
Just seems a bit fanciful given that very few clubs ever really approach profitability and if we want a system of competitive balance through finance then this is a really stupid and ineffective, not to mention unfair, way to go about it.
