One thing I will say is Vince would(eventually) change his tune on a few people(Bryan and Kofi a couple off the top of the head examples), but if you were buried or turned into a comedy act, you were done with him. He definitely buried some for getting over without his say so though.

From a purely selfish point of view I would prefer he did that before doing a Nakamura and phoning in WWE matches much later in his career.
