I tried option 2 bringing Lewa in, but I found he didn't suit my style that well. Still I sold him on for a smidge more than I got him. I'll bring in Mendy instead and get me my left back sorted for a long time.
If you're using Mendy then Dembele on the left is mustard. Maybe link him in with Sissoko for a cheap beast in the middle.

Conceded a goal in the last minute of extra time (which I'm 99% sure was offside and the prick watched the full goal celebration despite me skipping one) to send it to extra time where I lost on penalties.

Played someone who was absolutely rancid and it really should have been more as I had 23 shots on target with his keeper making 18 saves.
He was playing constant pressure, was constantly out of position and as such all his players had no stamina after 30 minutes. I was so worried I was going to fuck it up until I scored my first goal as I kept missing so many chances.
Edit: Follow it up with a 3-0 half time rage quit. 2-6.
Taking a break to watch United/City but I'm now up to 5-6.
Last two I'd have 100% lost if I didn't have a couple of wins under my belt.

If I remember how it works right, your ELO/Form system doesn't kick in til your 5th match is done. Hence why game 6 you suddenly found yourself much the better player.
You may have got unlucky with who you got in your first 5 games.

Faced some guy who used a dark ball which was really hard for me to see.
Whenever I was on my defensive formation he was causing me all sorts of problems but when I went to my attacking (3-5-2) I was all over him.
Thought I won it late with Lewandowski but he pulled one back almost instantly. He then scored in the 93rd minute and watched the whole celebration (up to this point he had skipped everything) which lit a fire inside of me and Lewandowski. When I scored the 9th he quit as he probably knew a 10th would be coming.
Up to 7-6 with 7 wins on the bounce.
Shouldn't have played the next one as I'd knew I'd struggle after such a taxing game.
I lost 4-1 to a much better player. Pleased with 7-7 so far (I'll get to 11 tomorrow) after the horrific start.
The guy I played also had the new 95 Messi who was insane.
'19 used to put everyone into the FEWC Stadium and the same EA ball for Champs games to stop shit like that.
I've mentioned it on previous games too but to get over an even record is good going in this. I reckon even getting to say 20-10 puts you into the top single figure % of people on the game too.
I've watched some of the EA tournament tonight and it seems that even the top players are just using a back line of Mendy, Walker, Gomez and Semedo. Instead they choose to put the coin into the attack. I have a Mendy to buy and then to work on Alisson maybe and that's the back line relatively set.
What is this icon swaps thing? I’ve tried to find an explanation online and I still don’t understand it.
You complete challenges (win X games with Y requirement) to collect the tokens which you then trade in for icons/packs as you wish.
There are only 18 tokens to earn in total.
Its also in friendlies rather than a mode that matters so people are usually leaving after 1/2 goals. Making it much quicker than if it was in rivals and rivals points/packs were on the line.

Won my first two games today but the next two have been against far superior players.
Still in the game with the second guy, I put my controller down at 4-0 and he's still trying to score as many goals as he can. He's currently on 8.
The freeze cards have a change of position too, no? Wouldn't be shocked to see a LW/RW Martial. Rashford already has a few special cards but he doesn't.
I kind of hope it isn't Martial because if it is it's going to be crazy expensive.
I want something a bit new. Massive boosted CB McSauce would be fun.

After getting to 10 wins I collapsed. I lost two earlier in the afternoon to take me to 10-9.
I loaded up a couple of hours ago hoping to get a quick win and I ended up losing another four games to take me to 10-13. In that run I played a guy who was much better than me but the others I could have beaten. One guy I went 2-0 up early on and went a little more defensive but he pulled them both back late and won in extra time.
Final straw came against a guy who was a lot worse than me but every bounce seemed to favour him, his first goal in particular was serious bullshit where my defender looked like he was going to get the ball easily but his Werner warped around him. I ended up losing 4-3 with him blocking about 20 shots of mine, I also had 56% possession (my gameplay usually sees me get around 30-40% as I'm much better at counter attacking) but it felt closer to 80%.
I then decided to quit out of the PS5 version and load up the PS4 version. Scored 2 quick goals and the guy quit out.
I went 11-13 but I could have easily won 21 of the games that I played or just 5, it was mental.
I'll play next week but I'll be doing so on the PS4 version of the game. I'm not sure what it is but I haven't had a problem playing on the PS5 version in Rivals but in Champs it was the complete opposite. I had more shots of mine blocked in one game than I have in all the games I played on the PS4 version.
Heroes of my weekend were Lewandowski, Forsberg, Blanc, Klostermann and the undoubted MVP was Bebou. I liked Bebou before his upgrade but he feels so dangerous since his upgrade, if he manages to get another he's going to be ludicrous.
On the other hand the weak link was Telles by far. In my defensive 4-2-3-1 he's fine but in my 3-5-2 he offers very little.
Also, it's evident that crossing has been massively nerfed which really hindered my performance.
Currently 7-5 myself. Started similarly to you mahow, 0-4 on Friday night, but I then won 7 on the trot, before losing my last one to a guy who had a seriously tough team and was pretty dominant. Aiming for 11, but if I have enough time to hit 14 tonight, I'll go for it.

Watching Nep open up some of the Icon Swap packs. It seems the 25 x 83+ is much the safer option. Perhaps to someone with a club like Yev has, he has no real use for them, but for most there might be something in there.
Most have had at least 3 or 4 players over 85 in there too. Obviously you take the risk of getting 25 just 83 rated cards and no less, but I've not really seen one of those yet.
The 85+ pack on the other hand is extremely hit and miss. You're guaranteed a walkout, but I've seen many that are all 85s or just the one 87 and it's Navas.

You could get nothing, but when your luck is in, it's in. I got KDB TOTY from the much maligned single player 83+ packs last year, so you never know.
Only worry I have now is which league upgrade packs to go for (France is the preference, but it's shit or bust) and whether I'll have time to actually open them all. Up to 581 now, which translates to over 1,100 when recycling.

Ended 11-9 yesterday, not a great week and I had a number of connection issues which didn't help. The new upgraded 86 RTTF Correa was a brilliant super-sub though - almost tempting me into doing the 88 Immobile SBC for that strong link up top.
