What are you playing on difficulty wise Waff and which rank do you finish in?
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know you only got 12 games to get your score until I played my 13th game and got 0’s all over at the end of the game. I was just playing semi pro to get rewards and spam the power shot, finesse assists etc for packs. So winning anywhere from 20-0 or more. I got Elite 3 rewards I think.
When I do it again I’ll probably go world class. I assume that’s a high enough quality to hit Elite 1 at the minimum but I think I’ll wait until closer to Sunday this week so I know what score I need.
They got rid of max 79 for rush? Thank the lord.
Once you are on World Class any tips on how you break down the opposition when their midfield drops back and you have a wall of 7/8 players in front of you would be appreciated.
I deliberately give them the ball and do my best to tackle them nearer my box and spam the driven pass to my forwards. Once my forward has the ball, do the give and go and he should make a run in behind the defence. The AI defence at world class is still pretty pants when they’re running backwards so it should be a free goal when you’re in behind
@Waff you should have 14 games if you play the TOTW and special teams.
Feel like the AI on higher levels was same on the previous one. Counter attacking them all the way. When you on top you end up having to have a pop from range to win a corner to abuse that or give them a goal kick to get them up the field.
I didn't really think Rush could get much worse after week 1, but it's now full of people AFKing just to get the points to get the objectives done for packs and the bonus points game this weeks requires (all of) you to use a centre back.
Couple that with the fact the entire game now appears to be geared around the top 10% to 20% of players and I think EA might have run mad a bit. Which is a shame as the rest of it is pretty decent to far.

My Rento is slightly different to that as I didn't put him through the Octopus and Futbin don't seem to have the 84 path card I took instead. All on full chem bar Martinelli who is on two. Might have to give Haaland that welcome to cosmetic evo.
10 games with Haaland and he had to go, he's just shit. His movement is horrible like Harry Kane, but unlike Harry he also can't pass and has a three star weak foot so he actively kills attacks unless the ball falls to him on his left foot at the right angle, when in fairness to him he will score, but those opportunities are far too limited for it to be worthwhile. His Poacher ++ is a lie as well as there is absolutely no difference in the runs he makes, which are no less moronic than any other striker I've used so far. Thank God I packed him rather than be tempted to mortgage the club into his SBC.
Gabriel Martinelli also out, with Kane and Schuller back in the side and we move to 4-2-4, with Foden on the wing and Kane moving into his Southgate England role. Some wins on World Class followed against decent opposition, with a hat-trick from Schuller in the last one and we should be good for at least Gold 1 now.
Curious to hear the thoughts of others on the role +'s and ++'s as my experience with them so far is very underwhelming - I genuinely can't tell the difference between utilising them and not.
The Roles thing is just an overlay on the tactics stuff from last year. I don't think it's any real difference at all. Like Neymar would be "bad" at being a striker, but he's also great because he's 5/5 and agile as fuck.
The main thing it does is obfuscate how your team will actually play, which seems to be the main point.
I disagree, I think the ++ does make a difference. The biggest thing I noticed was Bernardo Silva being used as a ‘half winger’. Played completely different and felt great.
Halaand I agree with. I very much regret his SBC
I think the roles themselves make a difference, I'm just yet to see ++ or + do anything.
The roles 100% make a difference. Putting my wingers on Wide Playmaker - Attack compared to Winger - Attack was huge. The wide players stay closer to the oppositions full backs. Super high and super wide. Just where i want them.
Can’t see me getting out of div 4 for a long time. Literally cannot defend to save myself. Might be the hardest thing to do in video games
I got my 15 wins across Division 8 and 7, which is where I am now and it was relatively comfortable for someone shit at the game like me. I'm under no illusion though, get promoted to a Division you can't cope with and you're going to have a horrible time.
I thought relegation being brought back was supposed to sort this, but I then heard that's only in Division 1 and 2, which is yet another thing in the game this year aimed at top level players. I genuinely don't understand what they're playing at.
Even Boras is struggling and yoyo-ing between Div 2-3, and he'd regularly go unbeaten in Champs
I started in div 5 and once I win a game, i score an OG and quit the next five. I aint leaving
Its about time things got a lil tough but give me some casual game mode without SBMM inside ultimate team. Rush is good but within UT, it isnt going to last long. The pro clubs version will.
I don’t want to come across all Matt Le Tiss but there’s 1000% some sort of weird handicap/script when facing lower rated squads. The amount of random dodgy goals that happen or red cards is beyond a joke
Finally hit Division 3 in time for tomorrow’s rewards.
They look quite nice. 2 players picks 84+, 1 mega pack, 1 82+ TOTW pack, 75x15 rare gold players pack, 75x35 rare gold players pack and 40k.
I’ve just got VVD from the 1 coin 1 player pack.
And IF Martinez tradeable from my Div 7 Rivals rewards. :D
Mega. VVD lasted me months when I packed him last year
Having to win basically half your games to get decent rewards is utter shite patter
Getting into division 3 might have been a terrible idea. I’ve lost 7 in a row and permanently stuck here. I might not even reach the 45 points for upgrades at this point :D
Finished on 6 wins. Disgraceful stuff.
Game still feels like it’s in a beta state. Genuinely no idea how I didn’t win at least 3 of the games
Not knowing how to take or defend any set pieces is really fucking me
Pedri and Modric the best of the rewards. Not even worth the boredom of grinding your dick off
Didnt qualify for WL via playoffs. Got slapped about in final game.
Jesus, if you can't qualify Sincere I genuinely have no hope at any point this game cycle.
EA have run mad.
My team is basic and im not running anything meta so im not surprised.
I'm finding more problems with this approach from EA, this time in friendlies and I think I've worked out why.
Last year when a friendly objective was released I'd struggle to get the wins in the first few days until all of the sweats had done their thing and then I'd swoop in and knock 10 wins out in say, 13 or 14 games.
This year I again tried on day one for the Evo lounge and got my arse handed to me, which was no surprise. Tried again after 3 or 4 days and the same thing happened. Hmmm. Fast forward to last night and it's still happening but I did manage one win. Back on tonight and I've faced five opponents in a row who are just flat out better than me, so I quit each time after going 2/3-0 down in 20-30 mins. Thinking what the actual fuck is happening it then hit me. The matchmaking has changed to form, hasn't it? Form in friendlies. Which means none of the 10 or so losses I've had actually count as such as I didn't finish any of the games. So my elo is positive and I'm facing opponents in the same boat.
Which has led to me putting my controller down and going AFK in this current game, while losing 4-0, in a determined effort to see if starting to rack some full game losses up will actually register against my form.
I'll be honest gents, this is not how I want to be spending my time.
I'm genuinely baffled by these changes as they must serve, what, 5-10% of their userbase? I was ok with not always being able to qualify for Weekend League previously, but if you're going to make it so I never can again then at least give me a Europa League style alternative (or in my case Conference League). Chuck in the fact that Rivals is 15 wins, which will only be tolerable when you're ascending the divisions or have sand bagged the shit out of it (which everyone will ultimately do as why would you want to play upwards of 40 high stress games to get the points needed every.single.week for 40 fucking weeks in a row) and friendlies also seems fucked and I'm close to giving it a rest for a bit until they sort this shit out.
I'd have minded less if Squad Battles had been left alone so at least I had somewhere to play a decent number of games with something riding on them. But oh no, even that had to be fucked with to make it worth the while of top level players bothering with.
:D
Yeah, I regret sweating for division 3 rewards. I highly doubt I’m going to even get the upgraded rewards as I’m away most of mid week and that would mean spending all weekend trying my dick off after raging all of today playing it.
I think I’d be in Div 6 without Mbappe
I'm in the same boat in terms of being tied up with work a lot next week so won't have much time midweek. I could grind however many friendlies to get the Evo objectives done and play a stupid amount of Rivals in two days over the weekend, but I just don't want to.
Obviously there was some twisted logic in these changes that they thought would result in them selling more packs (as obvs that's the key driver for everything they do) and while it might initially as players push to be competitive, that won't last forever as soon as it dawns on people that by doing so you're only delaying the time it takes to hit the 'having a horrible time' shaped brick wall and start playing less and less. At which point, they'll change this nonsense. How much they change it is the key question.
Oh and they need to sort the defensive crab like shit that goes on when the opposition's midfield drops back and sits on top of the defence, making it almost impossible to break through. They can then nerf the L1/RT speed boost nonsense, up the effectiveness of pace a tad and we might actually have the best football game they've made as most of the rest of the way it plays is actually pretty good.
Think speed boost is being nerfed in the coming days. Which makes it even more funny how expensive that Nico Williams SBC is because his card outside of pace and dribbling is fairly mid.
Wait, so if i quit 10 games in a row. My current record at the end is not 0 wins and 10 losses? Across all game modes.
I’m almost certain that’s how it works in Weekend League Sincere and am testing it in friendlies to see if it’s the same there, or at least I would be if I could be arsed.
Ffs. That is mega if true.
I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere/saw Nep talking about it.
It sorta makes sense, but as usual they haven't war-gamed it to think about what that means: people will just AFK and/or sandbag as people don't want to have to play 60 games a week to unlock some bollocks objective player or whatever
How long does it take to max out the rush obj in UT? How many games?
