Lads, where should I be going for general NFL reading?
Sports Illustrated seems to be going down the 'x free articles per month' route so that's going to be the end of that for me.
EDIT: I didn't know that (for some sites at least) you can get round this with incognito tabs.
Stunning.
He's officially asked for a trade.
JJ Watt has been released.
:(
Seriously though. What’s the plan?
I doubt we’d wanna spend the money required
Hefty guaranteed to be giving out considering the injury.
He was the Titans first round pick in the last draft coming in at pick 29.
I really like Lindsay so I'll be annoyed if he leaves for fuck all.
Seems strange as they were really hot on him and he has 2, 1000 yard seasons under his belt.
Good news if you are Melvin Gordon I guess.
One injury-hampered season and not being a 'fit' for Shurmur's offense apparently.
Annoying.
I am liking the look of the work done on the defensive side for Denver so far this off-season. I assume on the quarterback front they're in a bit of a holding pattern just now or trying to come up with a plan B as I reckon they were into the idea of going big for Watson.
The Niners have given 3 1sts and a 3rd to move up to 1.03 (previously Dolphins).
RIP Jimmy G.
And now the Eagles have traded down, bringing the Dolphins back to 1.06
Big time swinging from the dolphins. Turning tunsil and a WR so average (Britt?) I’ve forgotten his name into 4 first round picks.
49ers are pretty confident they can win now and aren’t willing to waste it with cj beathard leading the line.
Feel a bit for nick mullens. He looked a perfectly solid qb a couple years ago.
If(big if) Wentz plays 75% of snaps for the Colts this season the Eagles now have 3 first round picks in 2022. I'm still disappointed though. The chance of a big time playmaker like Chase or Pitts has just evaporated, which would have added some excitement to the season. That the Eagles were also attempting to trade to #3 for Wilson says to me upstairs don't like Hurts too much.
I get the long term thinking. If we're honest, the Eagles are not 1 QB from competing, there are several glaring holes in the team and you could likely pick any position for our pick and it'd be the right positional choice. As it is I'd place a large bet on a CB being taken that will likely be way too soon.
It does provide the Jets with an interesting opportunity. Zach Wilson is getting the media wet at the mention of his name right now, so if anyone wanted to send the house to gazump the 49ers they really could demand a Kings ransom. As is they should likely take Wilson themselves, but Jets gotta Jet.
Dolphins played the field spectacularly there.
There’s a load of them that have a pretty equal shot.
Trevor aside they’re surely all similar punts as a first rounder.
Wilson, fields, Lance and to a lesser extent mac Jones.
For the eagles with all those holes, Just stick where you are now and see what falls.
Sounds like Edelman had a knee injury he just couldn't get rid of. He failed his return physical and after being contractually cut by the Patriots he's retired.
My feelings are a little mixed about the trade.
Obviously we had no leverage so we were always going to find really good value for him and I think this is a fair price considering that. I really don't like that he's gone to the Chiefs though.
The team are also expected to sign Alejandro Villanueva to replace him at RT.
I think we'll end up using the capital to move up in the draft.
Broncos have taken a punt on bridgewater, who’s basically been tossed from the panthers.
Interesting move.
Panthers are even paying $7m of Teddy's $10m salary to send him to the Broncos.
I assume that means the plan is to shunt Lock somewhere and draft a QB to sit behind Bridgewater for a few years. I'm not unhappy with that depending who we get.
Well that's come from fucking nowhere. Crikey.
In draft news does one of you nerds want to tell me about this Patrick Surtain 2: The Revenge lad that Denver have drafted? Secondary is looking good this year but I think at least one including Fuller are only on short deals so it makes sense to get some yoof in there.
Recorded and watched this morning.
#1 and #2 were locked but figured SF would go fields as more secure. Fair play for them giving up so much and taking an absolute punt on Trey lance.
Najee Harris at 24 made so much sense and was about the only pick I correctly got beyond the first two.
Hopefully Justin fields gets a chance to learn and thrive in Chicago.
Disappointed with the Texans first round pick.
Should point out I mocked Mac Jones at 12 to the eagles. Interesting they passed on fields and Jones, but devonta smith is a good wideout who fills a need.
I woke up at 4 for work and the first thing I saw was that we traded up and the heart sank. To leapfrog the Giants like that, for almost no cost, was a great thing to see. I didn't want to see any QB factory shenanigans.
There's still plenty of holes to fill, but with a star WR now on board there's that bit of excitement to watch him play. There's also potentially 3 first rounders next year for us. The interesting move is us passing on Fields. I like him as a prospect, but Hurts hasn't really been given enough time to prove if he has it or not.
Very much a transition season ahead, but not as bleak as it looked a little while back.
He's been starting for Alabama since he was a freshman, which pretty much never happens. More of a press-man guy, but I'd imagine he could do whatever they ask him to. Not sure he'll be a mega elite 'shutdown corner' type, but he'll be a good starter for years.
Nah, they could use Jaylen Waddle.

Just gonna leave this here for you @Ian
Well he seems promising. I thought trading up for a second round RB seemed a slightly odd move but it sounds like Paton just really loves him and it seems like we've collected a bunch of lower-round picks so I'm not unhappy with Paton's business so far.
Also sounds like some sources/journos got a little overexcited about what might have been some non-titbit about Rodgers too.
Today, someone told me I look like Trevor Lawrence.
Ok Trevor, so, this is what you don't do . . .
The Tebow season is one of my favorites in my time supporting Denver. Such a stupid year. I loved it

I didn't even realise this was a thing.
:face:
Neither did I.
I honestly can't believe they thought that "formula" was all good.
Carl Nassib going to get a lot of attention now, and based on that hard knocks episode he’s going to know how to turn into a lucrative situation as well as a weight off his chest.
Good on him.
In the next twist in the saga.. Aaron Rodgers can opt out of next season and still get his roster and signifying bonus (18-20mill) but can’t be traded or reactivate during season.
Has to decide by Friday.
Basically, If he really doesn’t want to play for Green Bay again and doesn’t think they’ll give him a huge contract with guarantees basically nullifying the benefit of selecting love, he can out of spite sit out and watch them have to roll the dice with their rookie whilst still earning a shit ton of salary. Take that gutenkunst, you cunt.
Wowzers.
The NFL has today informed teams that if a game cannot be rescheduled in the 18 week season, due to COVID among unvaccinated players, the team will forfeit and be credited with a loss. Players pay will also be affected.
Not long after the announcement DeAndre Hopkins posted this before quickly deleting it:

There could be some scenes if there are players who still refuse to have it.
He should just get it and not be such a fucking poser.
You'd think with the amount of other shit these people undoubtedly take that the anti-vax line would be a hard one to maintain.
He's arguably the best WR in the game so if he opts out due to the new ruling, I reckon a few more would take that as reason enough to follow.
That said, he really should just get the jab. I don't understand the argument against it.
Sounds like Rodgers is done. He's not getting what he wants(the GM fired) and it seems no one will pay the price to get him. Some bookies in the USA are not offering lines on the Packers over/under as they expect him to retire by August.
The Packers have also pissed off Devante Adams. He's due a new contract and they refused to pay him top WR money. Considering the season he just came off, he's quite pissed off and both he and Rodgers posted a picture of The Last Dance on their Instagram accounts last night.
There's going to be a hell of a lot of pressure on Jordan Love very soon if this is true.
Texas and Oklahoma abandoning their pissy conference for the SEC too makes it a big news weekend over there.
Jordan love needs to show why teams considered him a first rounder. Then again, he fell all the way to 25 or so, so it’s no easy feat. Can imagine it’s a brain fuck for Green Bay given he and Rodgers are completely different styles of player.
