I really like local dialects coming through, similar to Glasvegas.

Mark E. Smith is dead. :(
The Fall are, in my humble opinion, the best band this country has ever produced. Gutted.

Ursula Le Guin
:(
I've never listened to the Fall.
They're on a list of artists I'm too posh to understand, along with Ian Dury and Joy Division.
If that video is anything to go by they were stealing a living.
Oh well I hate Joy Division so fuck 'MES'.
Edit: lol Merse confirming I'll never listen to them.
He / they are nothing like Joy Division, it's just a different load of Manchester shite I don't get.
Joy Division were mega. The Fall were crap.
Is the video meant to be a joke?
That Merse post reads like someone caricaturing a try hard div.
Assuming he means Johnny Cash, surely the best of the four. Although I've been somewhat turned against Bowie by the amount of boomers and luvvie cunts wailing when he died at 65 after being ill for years.
As far as I'm concerned David Bowie retired in 1983 so it wasn't a massive loss for me.
I mean Jonny Cash, yes. His epitaph is false as fuck.
More than likely a factual statement.
Actually the first thought I had the first time I heard them, incidentally performing that very same song.
The initial Brix period was, undoubtedly, excellent. They definitely "got it together" on various occasions before and after that, though.
No.
They had moments during their stint with Rough Trade as well. Fit and Working Again, Totally Wired, An Older Lover, Container Drivers, How I Wrote Elastic Man. That's five from a compilation of 25 songs, though. You have to wade through a lot of shit.
Reading the news yesterday I was thinking 'I've never listened to The Fall, I should give them a chance'.
After watching 30 seconds of that video, they're dead to me.
Another one I’d never heard of. Probably because his music was shit if this thread is anything to go by. Which begs the question, how fucking common do you have to be to get it?
Judging by twitter, you have to be left wing and northern.
Anyone who doesn't like The Fall isn't to be trusted. Legend. RIP.
They're a band I've never understood the appeal of. People like Bowie I never really liked but I can see why others do. The Fall just sound like something you might see in a pub on a random Thursday, although occasionally pub acts have a singer who can carry a tune so they've lost out there as well.
James liking a band is probably the best litmus test I have for whether I’ll like them or not.
Earthsea was great, such a refreshingly different style to most of the other fantasy I'd read. Probably time to have another read through.
They're alright, I just generally find them repetetive/predictable.
Fry Gayola.
Cry Frayola.
I reckon Fry was Scoobs.
Where's the best place to started with Ursula Le Guin? I've been meaning to read some of her stuff for ages but there's so much of it.
A wizard of Earthsea, if fantasy isn't your bag then the Left hand of darkness is great scifi
Yeah, more the scifi stuff than the fantasy stuff for me.
Cheers, I'll check it out.
Was rumoured a time back, but he's apparently been in a bad way for a good while.
That's rough. Also, that student that died in town (in apparently ridiculous circumstances) had sailed for Britain in the European Championships. Meaning that she jumped straight to the BBC front page.
Only diagnosed in November too.
Christ.
He'd probably not that long retired, too.
I think he was playing in the US up to some time last year.
He was and I think he was still under contract?

Rob Delaney's two year old son :(
