Yeah. You need to get to the page where you assign items (moving them up and down)
Move the tradeable to the middle section and swap them out. It will be unassigned but just back out and do what you need to do.

I picked up Rodri OTW for under 80k - his gold card has been immense for me and I don't want to miss out on a potential upgrade if he gets an IF (like I did with Ziyech :moop:).
Also grabbed a few TOTW Benzema's. He's high-rated, French and TOTW. Seems like a good option for the Mbappe SBC when it drops.
Sandro SBC looks good (player and value-wise) but not so sure about Correa. Lazio are shit and he's no better than Dybala or even Martinez

I took Sabitzer last night. Was either between him or Bernat but I couldn't justify "wasting" 100k XP on a left-back. I find them basically useless this game so just need someone with stamina and pace to stick back and defend. Currently have Atal and Florenzi in those positions right now.
The Lacazette is so woefully specced for even this stage of the game, it's unreal. I loved his Summer Heat card last year but this one is mince.

Started well with a 5-1 win and then had 9 games of utter shite against people not only doing 1 depth drop back, but living it too. Almost every game was 60%+ possession for me, 3 shots and 3 goals for them, which took me to 4-6 after 10 games.
Then I had a run of 4 wins in a row to take it to 8-6 (my first time at +2 on this year's version), before losing the last one of the day against a super team/not bad player.
I'll take that overall though. 6 wins needed tomorrow for Gold 3 again.

Thinking of selling up after this weekend. I’ve not been getting time to play with the missus being pretty much out of work and therefore staying up late in front of the shared telly. I’m sat on a further 360k and have a shit load of players in the club and a full transfer list so I’d be in a good place to take advantage of league SBCs or whatever promo is around when I return to the game at a later point when I’m able to play enough to actually feel I’m being rewarded for it.
If you can't play much at the moment then there's probably not much point having a mega first team - better off selling off the high-priced players (but keep the cheap/reliable players like Dembele and Ben Yedder etc.) and just pop in for SBCs that take your fancy.

Played 1 game on Squad Battles and the patch has absolutely nerfed constant pressure. Completely ruins your players.
On its own that's a good thing, but as far as I can see it'll just make drop back, 1 depth even more effective as it's taken away one of the tools for dealing with it.
This game was good 6 weeks ago.
I always think the base version (extending into a patch or two) is usually the best.
The game seems to play a lot more free flowing and it's usually actually a joy to play. The more patches they put out, the more restrictive, defensive and soul sapping it becomes.

Aidoo with a shadow is an 88 rated CB with 92 speed, 89 defending and 90 physical. He also has extremely high agility and balance for a defender (he has the second most balance for a CB) and Woo Yeong Jeong is the best Bundesliga RM other than the overpriced Bellarabi SBC card.
Never look at the number on the card, they're completely misleading. Those level 15 players (I haven't looked at the Serie A guy) are serious shit.
I'll give you Aidoo, but I don't really use my Serie A team all that much and already have Koulibaly and Romagnoli as FO. Could maybe do ok at DM in a pure shitkicker role.

The Serie A player is Tello who is alright but nothing special.
Just played one of the best games in a long while.
Got matched up with a guy who was ridiculously good and absolutely lethal attacking. He went 3-0 up after 10 minutes as Ousmane Dembele and Talisca ripped me to shreds.
I thought fuck it and switched to my ultra attacking formation and he started struggling with the pressure. Missed some chances but Allan and Gnabry scored just before halftime and I knocked it down to attacking as my side were fucked.
Lewandowski levelled it up after 53 minutes but he started coming back into it and Ben Yedder scored from a perfect scoop turn inside the box. I had some more chances (including nipping in front of a short goal kick but fucked the finish) but finally Son made it 4-4 in the 86th minute. Kept trying but my side were dead and I couldn't find a winner.
The game is a genuine pleasure to play when you're playing someone who is actually trying to win.

Looking at those cards more I think level 15 shits all over level 30. The winger looks like one of those who feels great in game, a Korean Kent. Aidoo with the shadow (as ‘how said) looks like a rock, he even has decent agility and balance for a CB. Tello is likely the worst of the three but he is 1 face start from Gullit gang with a gladiator. Could be very good box to box

The version I have works on the XBox One and XBSX and comes with a 'free' upgrade to the XBSX version when released. Lol if you can't buy that version from the store on the next gen consoles.
The way I'm reading it, if you have the disc, you can play and then upgrade on the 4th but will need to contact EA to help with the transition.
If you have the digital edition, you've gotta wait until the 4th.

Managed to do all of them for 9k ish each and building them wasn't nearly as hellish as I thought once I got which leagues and players down to use. Would have carried on but I'm down to my last 100k of coins liquid now. Really need some fodder to go up in price.
Just packed Joe Gomez from a Small Electrum Players Pack - pretty nice pull worth 60k and now I get to inflict the pain of playing against him on all of my opponents.

It amazes me how they release the same game every year but still can't consistently fix certain issue like this. Meanwhile they ignore massive flaws like midfielders never tracking back and people tackling with their wrong feet all the time
Just had a long session grinding Rivals to earn the WL pts I need for this upcoming weekend. Went 6-2-2 across 10 games, and it's the best the game has ever felt for me. Good connection, responsive players and the ball going where I wanted it to about 98% of the time. It helped that I came up against some solid opponents which made for some enjoyable wins and close games.
It's just a shame that half the time, especially during FUT Champs, the online games feel so stodgy because it's really enjoyable when it plays as it should. Up to Rank 1 now, with enough points to redeem for this weekend. I'm also up to 1417 skill rating in Div 4 for Rivals, which I think is my highest ever since they introduced this system.
I'm also in division 4, I was close to 1500 points a couple of days ago but took 3 losses in a row.
I really should push for high rewards but I always find myself just sticking with rank 3.

£33 on the PS store or £35 for the Champions Edition. Chose the latter and in the pack for it got Busquets and a Hunter chem style. If I'm right in thinking that's a nice 25k in the pot to start the club off.
Usually my first actions are to get a kit/stadium/ball etc stuff out of the way, so you don't have to think about them for a while, but I cant seem to see the option to change them or look to buy new ones. I've not used a FIFA menu since '19 though so this is all new to my eyes. This like a season of milestones and rewards wasn't on the game last time I played.
Either way I'm up and running. I think a safe cheap EPL team is probably the way to go with my very limited budget. Though I'm not sure I should be entering FUT Champs any time soon, I probably will asap.

I generally play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1 in game and that means Sabitzer and Zola as wide AM's/wingers. I think Zola will be fine but I'm not sure about Sabitzer however no other Bundesliga CM/CAM/ST really jumps out at me. Maybe if Hwang were to get a IF with an upgrade to his passing...

I conceded a goal where my defender was in a prime position to make a tackle but the ball somehow worked it's way through his legs. I then rushed out with my keeper and he tried a ball roll but a touch too late. My keeper decided to just casually touch the ball and the ball casually bounces from my keepers hand, off his attackers foot and roll just under my keeper.
The animations are absolutely bonkers.
My first taste online, albeit with everyone having one hand tied behind their back has been positive. 5 games, 5 wins.
My brain is getting back to where it needs to be to see what I need to do, but my hands do not always follow. Once I get that composure back I think I'm good. I will say of those wins, 4 of them have been by over 5 goals. No sign of anyone quitting to make my task easier.

I've conceded 4 goals in 2 matches from someone doing a rainbow flick and despite me realising it was about to happen and thus dropping back my defender just decides to stand there despite me hitting X for them to head it.

They release IF Silvers as playable objectives most weeks. You have to play in the silver lounge using silvers only to get them.

He'd offer a lot more pace and dribbling than Sabitzer on the right but I would lose the passing and shooting.
I wouldnt even worry about his next upgrade as its so far away. As an 83 he should be very good with a deadeye.

That 3-5-2 looks like it has some premise, although your wingers are going to be fucked.
Bellerin done in a second sitting. 17 games in total to get the 15 wins. One of the losses was a blowout to someone who somehow got loan R9 into his team. I've got about 25k on hand now for potential upgrades.
Telles looks like a must have as Reguillon feels a bit crap to me. At CB, that Wes Morgan card comes out at 89 rated with Anchor on him according to FUTBIN. It's laughable how much better he looks than my current CBs too. But for me pretty much everything is an upgrade at this point, so it's probably better to go with quantity over quality.
The likes of Gabriel Jesus, Sissoko and Havertz could be bought for this and be pretty big upgrades on what I have already.

3 Rivals matches with the 3-5-2 and I like it a lot.
Won the first 5-2 (I missed a lot of chances and he grabbed two bullshit goals late on), lost the second 3-2 against a much better player and won the third 4-2 (I was 3-0 up and we collapsed a bit by letting in 2 goals before we sealed it late).
I like it a lot as it suits my play style.

The more I use Zola the more I love him. I wasn't very enthusiastic when I packed him but he's brilliant.
He feels absolutely rapid, finishes everything, seems to always be in space and despite his low strength it's quite hard to take the ball from him as he has crazy balance.

Got my placement matches done and received a big bag of coins for the trouble. First 3 games were won without any trouble really. Game 4 though the game turned up the difficulty. I got paired with a guy running full Serie A team. I did my best but Dybala and CR7 ruined poor Wes Morgan and Ake. I had to use the 3-5-2 Mahow posted to try and overload the guy. It worked okay but I could not stop him the other end and lost 6-4.
Last game the guy had a couple of the lesser Icons in his team, but it was still 10x the one I have. He was 3-1 up at HT, so I again switched into that 3-5-2. As my players shuffled about positionally, it created a big gap and he scored from kick off. Lean forward mode was activated. I got one quite quickly, but after a few close calls for him I just thought it wasn't going in. 80 mins gone still 4-2. He tried a risky pass I was ready for and nabbed it to play an easy ball in to score. From there the floodgates opened and ended up with a mad scramble in the box in the 92nd minute. Ball fell to Jota and he duly smashed it home.
I've been put in Div 3 for my troubles and handed 93k coins. Instantly some much better meta players are available, but the squad does need a lot of work. Werner and Son are towards the top end of that budget, as is Gomez or Bruno. I could realistically afford only 1 of those.
Otherwise it's a potential goalkeeper purchase and spending the money out evenly. I'm not sure there's much in the way of value in a 2nd team with fitness no longer an issue.

82+'s I just went with the same value as one 81+ player. It'll obviously be higher, but I'd rather undercook it if we don't know for certain.

I did see a few on Reddit say the 81-87 is locked so you can't get any special cards over the threshold.

I've crunched the numbers and the 474 packs I now have on hand for TOTY when recycled, and recycled again, and recycled again etc. should give me another 184 Premium League Upgrade Packs and 282 Standard League upgrade packs, which basically takes me to 940 packs I'll have to open, which will be 15m coins of packs or two grands worth.
And that's if I stop now.
Opening a pack a minute (building in some time to recycle) will take me 16 hours. :drool:

Not spent my coins yet as I've noticed what you lot probably did a month ago when this came out. There really are not many good defenders. Left-backs are pretty much non-existent.
I was wondering why 83 Gomez was still 70k and it's because other than VVD, the EPL has almost no one. A lot of teams I see have people using objective cards or even just putting full backs into CB(if not both) and taking the chem hit.
Yeah, most pro players just use Mendy - Varane - Gomez - Semedo or some variation on that with Kyle Walker in one of the positions. Going forwards with your fullbacks will get you murdered so you just need someone fast there now.

Ok Blanc is a monster.
Just played my first Rivals game (Zakaria at CB, he was also incredible) with him and he was insane.
The guy quit after 77 minutes at 5-1 down and Blanc was MOTM. 1 assist (a great pass into Lewandowski), 16/16 in passing, 12/13 in dribbles, 8/10 with tackles and rated 10/10.
It's hard to run past him and it's even harder trying to pass around him as he has crazy long legs.

Started my time in Rivals with a 6-1 and then a 7-0 humping. I was trying a 4-2-3-1 I'd quickly made and had bought a few upgrades to match. After the quick fall to Earth I switched it into a 4-3-3(false 9) with Firmino as the striker. Seemed to work much, much better.
I have noticed that certain players do now start to stick out at this level. I tried Lucas at RW and he just didn't cut the mustard for me. Gabriel Jesus also starts to feel a bit meh. He does well in certain spots, but his passing sometimes makes interplay quite difficult. I may bring in Mahrez or Bernardo for the role. I'm not one who tends to rely on through balls so the extra quality on the ball may help me.
Also at the first player unlock now that this dipshit realises there's a choice of 3. The Japanese lad looks alright and Aidoo looks very good(how is that an 82?) but both have nationalities that will make it difficult to get them into a team unless it's all one league. Tello looks the way to go. Could easily be a sub that can come on and play any position that isn't LB.
Just rattled through the Silver games in my lunch break. Three games, three rage quits (two against the same person) :D

Put 3 65 silvers on the bench, put 4 75 golds on the bench and then you can build out from there.
I've enjoyed finding the cheap beast players and using them. You only really need good strikers. Dembele carried me through the La Liga one by himself almost (with a bit of help from Joao Felix). Luis Milla is a cracking 76-rated midfielder.
Plus you only need specific league players in the first XI, so the likes of Alex Teixera and Renato Sanches can be bough on if you need them. I have loan Zidane in midfield in my MLS team :cab:

Rodrygo finally done. As is the switch to PS5 and it took me about 20 matches to win the 3/4 I needed. It was either the PS5 exclusive player base, or that they've all switched to a Dutch objective and that team is actually pretty good. It felt like I played the same player about 15 times.

Managed to just sneak some Rivals before the cut off so a nice 25k back into the kitty to take me up to 80k to spend again. I also packed a 85 Insigne as a nice untradeable super sub.
Not sure where I should spend next as pretty much everyone can have an upgrade at that position.
I love how everyone is red for position on that screenshot despite being where they should be.
I would say next upgrade is ASM. I didnt get on with him at all. Enjoying Son (when I use that team and am not grinding objectives) much more.
I think Kante is the next big signing I'm working towards. Will maybe try Pogba for a bit, as apparently he's not terrible in this version.

I think I'm gonna aim for 750 prior to the event, which should generate about 1,500 to open - a shed load more than I've opened for TOTY over the last two years combined.

I've removed the PS5 version. I wasn't aware that you were locked to only play other PS5 users. Ever since I installed the new one winning a game became a proper struggle.
Everyone had this annoying ability to both have enough players back to swamp my attacks and enough forwards to get me on the counter every time. Something just wasn't right. It's been an infuriating couple of days feeling like I've faced the same player over and over. They were all very good with skilled dribbling, making it impossible for me to tackle them.
My attacks would always get crowded out too. I never seem to score the goal I so often concede. A counter with one or two passes being enough before the shot.
I've also decided it's time to find out a drop back tactic as it so often undoes me. I want to play the proper way but I just don't have the tools it seems.

I've sold up everything I have. Luckily a few of the bigger cards went up a smidge to cover the tax a bit so I didn't lose too much. I just got into a rut with it. The passing was shite from everyone and it made me a bit to 1 dimensional.
140k to make a new team now. It's not much but I reckon it'll get me a good start in either Serie A or the Bundesliga. The 2 objective cards for those leagues would also slot straight into a team.
I've started a team on Pro Evo's equivalent. Mainly so I can export the classics into the other modes. Bergkamp, Roberto Carlos, Rijkaard and Van Basten in. I have very little idea how this works. You can play against AI but it seems to restrict you to weaker teams so you smash them. Maybe I have to play more to give that boost?
You can't sell players but you can trade duplicates for another pull. 3 of the same card to qualify for it, though. GP (the free currency you get for playing) doesn't seem to go very far and it seems the paid currency gets handed to you at a snails pace. I'm rolling with the team 'Default Team Name' which I must've set up when I was reviewing it.

Watching Neps latest video and he makes the point I was going to. TOTW cards even as red picks are usually terrible. 90% of the time your red pick is of someone 81-84 rated that is no use to you, so playing on to Elite is often not worth it, unless you are doing it for content purposes. Most of the reason people play is to get that tiny % chance to get that top player as a free pick essentially and it almost never happens. Even then, TOTW cards now aren't even that much of an upgrade on the base card until you get to the 2IF or 3IF.
He says he'd rather get his 14 wins and then go get all of the objective cards for that week instead. He's right too. How many players from this coming TOTW are going to be better than say, 86 Deulofeu? Maybe 1 or 2 at best.
His latest team is also one I would not be far off building as he's chucked loads of objective cards in. Might be tempted to grab them tonight when I get in, instead of going on in Rivals.

My first game just ended 8-6. That was mad. The guy was giving it the big one with full celebration/replay at 2-0 so no way I was leaving.
Only started WL at 9pm on Sunday and managed to race to 11-8 by about 4am, so that seals me re-qualification and a red pick at least. Hoping for something half-decent, but I think the 89 Bruno I got a few weeks back has used up my luck for a while.

Due to playing FUT Champs non-stop I haven't played Rivals for weeks (well before I had Cruyff and Eusebio), so with 5 games leftover from last weekend I took my super team into Division 5 Rivals. 5 wins and 5 rage quits later I think I've secured rank 1 in Rivals this week for the first time. :D

I was 3-1 up against the first and he gave away a penalty (and a red I think) to stop me scoring and ended his connection.
Second I was 2-0 down early against a good player but got one back almost instantly and from there whilst he was incredible at getting & keeping possession he was doing fuck all with it. Managed to go 3-2 up and he was still playing really passive. He got a corner in the 77th minute and I managed to head it out to Bebou for a 2 on 1 counter which I finished with him. Got a late penalty and he quit after I scored.
Absolutely glorious.
Also, the Zakaria upgrade (the UCL one at least, they're into the UEL at the minimum) is on the ropes. Gladbach 2-0 down and any goal in the Inter/Shaktar game would put them third.
Edit: Trubin the Shaktar keeper is a fucking hero. Time-wasting like a champion.

Dawned on me that with my red picks tomorrow I'll have 11 reds. They're mostly dogshit, but I fancy taking them into a full run of Squad Battles over the Christmas break (minimum WC difficulty) and see how we do. Depends on what the no doubt slog of icon swap both requires and offers mind.
And on a more serious note as to why these rewards are bollocks. That's 6 weekend leagues to get that lot (I appreciate I'm crap and it would have taken others a lot fewer games), but let's say an average of 28 games a week, so that's 168 games in total.
Compare that to the team I could have had from playing a similar number of objective matches, with much less stress and admittedly no packs/coins (that you also get from WL) and it's crazy, absolutely crazy.
You're looking at all of the MLS, Championship and Dutch League players and probably all of Bellerin, Deulofeu and Mollet too.

You do objectives for special icon swap players (like win 4 Rivals games with 7 Premiership players in the first 11 etc) for a maximum of 24 over 4 weeks.
You then turn those players in for an icon, they'll range from 6 icon swap players to 23/24. So you can choose a combination or one really great on.
Ah see I remember something similar from '19 but you didn't get Icons you got a possible reward player or 100k pack etc depending on the tokens you had.
You could also swap them for a random mid icon and then later a prime one too.

First WL match, I really shouldn't have lost but EA fucked me over a couple of times including letting him score in the 120th minute by refusing to let me change to the defender I wanted to.
He had so many blocked shots too and he should have had a man sent off in regular time as his Bruno slide tackled through the back of one of my defenders well after the ball had gone. He wasn't even shown a yellow though...

It's nice to see these all in friendlies, though the first owner card stipulation is disappointing to see. I hope this mode is also rating limited.
From the outside looking in, getting Vidic or Hagi seems pointless. Unless you need the potential of linking people together, you can probably buy similar players for your team. For example Varane is half the price of Vidic and is at least as good.
Suker and Koeman are the 2 obvious ones you want, assuming no one wants to earn every single token pretty much for Henry. Koeman looks like he would be an outstanding CM.
The multi player packs look very tempting to me, but I'm very aware just how many shit 85+ there still are before you get to something usable.
The mode is just limited to one league in your team. Which is annoying as I can't use my icons.

If I remember how it works right, your ELO/Form system doesn't kick in til your 5th match is done. Hence why game 6 you suddenly found yourself much the better player.
You may have got unlucky with who you got in your first 5 games.

I've mentioned it on previous games too but to get over an even record is good going in this. I reckon even getting to say 20-10 puts you into the top single figure % of people on the game too.
I've watched some of the EA tournament tonight and it seems that even the top players are just using a back line of Mendy, Walker, Gomez and Semedo. Instead they choose to put the coin into the attack. I have a Mendy to buy and then to work on Alisson maybe and that's the back line relatively set.
What is this icon swaps thing? I’ve tried to find an explanation online and I still don’t understand it.
You complete challenges (win X games with Y requirement) to collect the tokens which you then trade in for icons/packs as you wish.
There are only 18 tokens to earn in total.
Its also in friendlies rather than a mode that matters so people are usually leaving after 1/2 goals. Making it much quicker than if it was in rivals and rivals points/packs were on the line.

After getting to 10 wins I collapsed. I lost two earlier in the afternoon to take me to 10-9.
I loaded up a couple of hours ago hoping to get a quick win and I ended up losing another four games to take me to 10-13. In that run I played a guy who was much better than me but the others I could have beaten. One guy I went 2-0 up early on and went a little more defensive but he pulled them both back late and won in extra time.
Final straw came against a guy who was a lot worse than me but every bounce seemed to favour him, his first goal in particular was serious bullshit where my defender looked like he was going to get the ball easily but his Werner warped around him. I ended up losing 4-3 with him blocking about 20 shots of mine, I also had 56% possession (my gameplay usually sees me get around 30-40% as I'm much better at counter attacking) but it felt closer to 80%.
I then decided to quit out of the PS5 version and load up the PS4 version. Scored 2 quick goals and the guy quit out.
I went 11-13 but I could have easily won 21 of the games that I played or just 5, it was mental.
I'll play next week but I'll be doing so on the PS4 version of the game. I'm not sure what it is but I haven't had a problem playing on the PS5 version in Rivals but in Champs it was the complete opposite. I had more shots of mine blocked in one game than I have in all the games I played on the PS4 version.
Heroes of my weekend were Lewandowski, Forsberg, Blanc, Klostermann and the undoubted MVP was Bebou. I liked Bebou before his upgrade but he feels so dangerous since his upgrade, if he manages to get another he's going to be ludicrous.
On the other hand the weak link was Telles by far. In my defensive 4-2-3-1 he's fine but in my 3-5-2 he offers very little.
Also, it's evident that crossing has been massively nerfed which really hindered my performance.
Currently 7-5 myself. Started similarly to you mahow, 0-4 on Friday night, but I then won 7 on the trot, before losing my last one to a guy who had a seriously tough team and was pretty dominant. Aiming for 11, but if I have enough time to hit 14 tonight, I'll go for it.

Watching Nep open up some of the Icon Swap packs. It seems the 25 x 83+ is much the safer option. Perhaps to someone with a club like Yev has, he has no real use for them, but for most there might be something in there.
Most have had at least 3 or 4 players over 85 in there too. Obviously you take the risk of getting 25 just 83 rated cards and no less, but I've not really seen one of those yet.
The 85+ pack on the other hand is extremely hit and miss. You're guaranteed a walkout, but I've seen many that are all 85s or just the one 87 and it's Navas.

Ended 11-9 yesterday, not a great week and I had a number of connection issues which didn't help. The new upgraded 86 RTTF Correa was a brilliant super-sub though - almost tempting me into doing the 88 Immobile SBC for that strong link up top.
I think I've lost my untradeable Jordi Alba then who had 300+ games for me. :sob:
Couldn't be bothered trying to piss about swapping him onto the unassigned bit of the transfer page so just quick sold him so I could put a tradeable one of him from the transfer list into the Nani SBC. I'm never trusting that again.
As for Immobile, I have so many 83's on my transfer list I'm thinking of doing him too. My Serie A team could really do with him as well.

After adding Semedo, Mendy and Hazard into my team things have got better. The former has excellent recovery pace and also allows me to defend better.
There’s now 2 glaring issues with the team. Firstly Ake now sticks out. He’s neither fast or strong. He’s cost me a few goals in situations where he wins the ball from an attacker only for it to be stolen straight back.
The second is I seem to struggle now holding the lead. I should have my rivals points enough for the WL by now but my last 2 games have seen me surrender a 2-0 and 4-2 lead late in games. Still I’m 1 win away from the promised land. Once I’m there I can sod rivals off completely and just do WL/objectives.

Did a couple of Freeze promo SBCs this morning and got Untradeable Mendy and Freeze Golovin who looks pretty fantastic (although I'm drowning in L1 RBs with him, Atal, Florenzi and the Silver Stars guy)
You weren’t kidding about the first goal wins thing being expected. It has seen me start flying through the objectives though. I’ve done the EPL and Serie A swaps and made a start on Ligue 1 in just one sitting.
Everyone seems to pause it for me if they score first, which leads to them quitting immediately when I equalise.
Still I’ve flown through enough games to get me a reward pack from something and in it was an untradeable Sterling. Should be a great sub at the very least.
I’ve redeemed my Champs entry already and now wonder what I should do with Rivals rewards. I’ve got Div 3 rank 3 in the bag, but could push on to 2. All 3 of the reward options look tempting.

Got a cheeky Salif Sane out of a pack earlier - went straight into my BuLi team as we ploughed through their Objectives and he even scored the winner in the last game against some knobhead with a red ball. Instant club legend. Can't jump for some reason, despite being massive. Hwang was immense in this, scored almost every goal by just bombing past shitters with his 93 pace.

Knocked this together for now. I've bought it all up minus Dybala, but this has me thinking. To get Chucky in I need to go the Napoli route as Mexican is much more difficult. The Freeze Politano now has me interested.
Both he and Mertens have the same height, WF and SM, though Mertens is H/L. Other than that Politano looks much the better card. The problem here is the price. I've almost nothing left after building the above, though I do have a Piatek TOTW and untradeable Insigne in the club which would help.
You'll be fine with Mertens, no? And once you're on the Elite WL grind you'll be getting much better players than that Politano too?

First game of WL and if it's all like this it will be a long one.
Guy had a reasonable team, mostly Serie A. He was the type of player I've mentioned before I hate facing. Any time I get to the player to steal the ball away, he does a turn and suddenly is past and on to the next one.
I was even 5-3 up and he came back. Multiple goals scored from my players not getting to a ball they should have. For example a cross will be in to the back post with one of each of our players getting there at the same time. Even though my guy was before the ball, he still scored. I was carving him open all game and then when I needed to come back from 6-5, somehow can't put 2 passes together. 0-1.

Just played someone who was a complete cunt.
He was great at attacking and could have absolutely wiped the floor with me but he was a prick who kept time wasting, playing 1 depth etc etc.
He was 4-1 up and was just passing around his defence, stopping in midfield and just keeping the ball away from me.
Managed to grab 3 goals in the last 10 minutes (started by a long range Zola finesse as he dropped too deep) to send it to extra time.
He got a bullshit corner goal early where my Klostermann was in a better position but his Van Dijk managed to somehow get his head on it. What followed was more bullshit possession boring football before he sealed it with a counter attacking goal.

There's definitely skill based match making in WL for at least the first 5 games now.
Followed that up by being smashed against someone much better than me 5-1 and then smashed someone much inferior 4-0 before he quit.

I've never seen someone so bad at defending corners.
So many of my passes seem to either go to someone I didn't target or are so underpowered.

Had a nervy last game where I went 4-0 up and I was absolutely dominating the game but he pulled one back and momentum shifted firmly into his favour. At 4-3 I decided to switch from my ultra-defensive tactic (4-2-3-1) to my defensive (3-5-2) and I was able to counter, made it 5-3 and really should have had another couple.
Bebou is a hero. He doesn't get that many goals and assists (14 goals and 35 assists in 63 games) but he's electric and causes so many problems, especially on the counter.
Hoffenheim have Molde in the knockout phase so could well get another upgrade too.
A slightly bizarre Adama LB for tonight's SBC. Usual rip off as well.
Such a weird card. If they made him left footed or changed his work rates to high/med or high/high then he would be perfect for that RM LM spot in the 3-5-2.

7-8 through 15 games. I was 5-2 at one point but I'm doing the best I can with the connection issues. It's as if I'm playing on a delay. As a result, I can only really beat people I'm significantly better than.

I've downloaded a new option file and upped the difficulty in PES. I'm on Superstar now after starting a league with Bayern Munich. I smashed Sevilla 6-1 in the Super Cup and then decided it was time to step it up a notch. 3 wins, 1 draw so far but we're reliant on Lewandowski's goals and Neuer between the sticks.
Things the AI do differently: The chase and intercept passes more and make space difficult to come by in the box. I've just smashed Dinamo Zagreb 6-0 so maybe I've got the hang of this already. Sometimes the game just does that, though. I'm liking the fact I've got kits now for the Championship sides and all the national teams and some updated European odds and sods.
5-5 after 10 having been 5-3. Almost everyone I've played today has either dropped back or been good at defending, which makes for a right slog.
8-7 and done until tomorrow. Hard work today that was.
The LB Adama caught the content creators out. They did originally release him with the same WR and WF as his base card.

As I’ve alluded to, I’ve already returned home (rightly or wrongly, up to you) but I managed to find space for the Xbox and still redeemed the WL entry. It’s made me realise that the lag and delay I’ve frequently experience may just be down to the connection/internet I regularly play on at home, as I had 4 games of silky smooth gameplay yesterday and won them all so far.

I have no idea how to fit him in, but for now Dybala is sold and he takes the place of striker. I had planned to do the Haaland/Gnabry SBCs over the next 2 weeks, but this scuppers those plans a little. I must surely build a team around him.
Unfortunately outside of him in Serie A there really isn't much. That kind of leaves having to keep him at the top of the 4-5-1 with 2 Portugal links into him. Bruno is one option there but it also opens up the possibility of completing POTM Felix.

UEL Rebic was the best thing from my packs. Looks great now and is going for about 130k at the moment, but not sure whether to sell? If I hold onto him for at least another round (Milan have Red Star Belgrade who I'd expect them to get past) he could be a very tasty card if they progress, but at the same time apparently they won't get upgraded until February, which is probably too long to wait relative to the power curve.
A Laimer RB that's too expensive, again.

Knocked this together as a way to potentially fit CR7 in. I'd need 165k to make that work, although that is only with standard Felix. The POTM looks very good indeed, but that 3rd part of his SBC is the stumbling block. I may just have enough in the club for the first 2, but the 3rd is 250k by itself.

I chucked the entire contents of my 83+ x 25 pack into the most expensive part of Felix to check and it comes up just short. I'd still need to buy a 90 rated card to make it work and it'd wipe out my bench of the untradeable Sterling and Insinge.
I could go the other way with it and chuck the stuff into the cheaper 2 parts, though then the chemistry side of it comes into play. I've 10 days to do it which would mean this and the next set of Champs/Rivals rewards would be going towards it, even then some luck would be required.
Doing the 3 SB Icon swaps would turn into another 5 x 85+ cards. That'd likely give me no big pulls but SBC fodder. Though does anyone have any tips for beating AI on world class with a relatively shit team?

Had two rage quits as I scored within 3 minutes in the first two. In the third I went 2-0 down and managed to turn it around and win 6-2.

I finished the Eredivisie objectives earlier - Gravenberch is fantastic, well worth getting him if you can. Like a Sissoko/Wijnaldun hybrid.
Took my winning streak to start WL to 7-0, and ended up 11-4 late on Sunday night, one of my best weekends this year so far. Haven't updated my first team in over a month, and POTM 90 Haaland may be the route I take to improve the striker position.
Got a shedload of games to play for Bolasie, Volland and Icon Swaps, but what with Christmas around the corner, time on the game is fairly limited.

Just played a huge cunt in One League.
He would not skip the pre-match shit and then instantly paused to let the time run down. He then queued up a pause as soon as we kicked off and he managed to score in that. He did a long celebration and watched the full replay before it went to the pause menu and he waited for the full 30 seconds.
I then made it 1-1 and ran about it a bit. After a minute or so he paused and let the clock run down again.
He was pretty quick at pulling the plug on his internet connection as soon as I made it 2-1 after 35 minutes though.

Showdown cards/SBCs in the code, with something expected to hit tonight. With it also being Christmas I expect something big/nice tonight to pull in the traffic.
I haven't touched the Felix SBC yet. Obviously he's quite a meta card, but he's double the price of Freeze Gnabry, who looks a very similar and as Thommo said to me that is a lot of coin to put into a static untradeable card.
Getting CR7 starting is a must do(obviously) but looking at community squads for ideas on FUTBIN is tricky as most people build with the idea that if you can afford him you can afford the team that goes with him.
The great sell off has started, with my clean RTTF Quincy going for 260k overnight. Nearly 100k more than the cost of a used one and 20k more than I actually paid for him. Up to 5.3m now, with a crap load more to go through. Varane gone too, although I lost a few coins on him.
I caved and did Felix.
I only had to buy an 86 Sommer and 84 Saul to do it. I did lose some high sentimental value cards, Bellerin, Beckham, Sterling and the 2IF Lozano, but in truth, if my team even progresses slightly they'd have been out anyway. And I've now got Deulofeu to come in as super sub. One of my reward packs also gave me 85 Eriksen who negated a lot of the cost of Sommer.
The club has been wiped pretty much, but a fair amount of sellable golds and a few nice Silvers mean that the ~25k I spent was made back anyway plus more. I didn't quite realise I had that much. So I'm up to 170k though I need to bring in Bruno now.
Then the choice is whether or not to bring in Rashford. He'd start at RM off chem, but the alternative is go cheaper there and spend the resulting 100k or so on a keeper and Ake upgrade.

Ended on 14-10 myself. The record says it was worse, but I played better, there were just several matches that could have gone either way. I could easily have been 17-7.
One match in particular saw Murphys Law in effect. I was 5-0 down at half time. I fought it back and got it to 5-5. I won a corner in the 89th minute, which I don't even know how but Alisson saved it onto the bar at point blank range. Opponent counters and then win his own corner which he duly scored from.
I was at 13-6 at one point and should have gone to bed, but I wanted it done before I woke today.
I may try for 17 later, But I'm not too fussed either way.
I think the plan is now to sell Rashford(He's down below 100k atm!) and complete the Aouar SBC before he leaves tonight. The future potential links and also use of him off the bench in the meantime look too good to pass up for the 110k he costs.
Know what you mean about wanting to get it done. The days where I've finished by Saturday night I've had a much more enjoyable Sunday.

I've only used Aouar for a couple of games but he's silky. Really nice card. Definitely feels like much more a CAM than a ST for me though (Clive).
I've been getting a decent return on the 80+ Player Picks over the last few days - solid amount of 84+ cards and a smattering of IFs too.
Just did GPM going until I filled a clean trade pile. Stored all the cards needed for league SBC's and have listed everything else. I need to make 8k from 87 items that are still listed to break even, which I'll smash.
This looks absolutely viable when common golds go for about a grand.
And so ends the most frustrating WL I've ever had. I finish on 16-14 despite being 16-10. In all 4 games I had leads late on. I even replaced Bruno and Rashford with Sanches and Martins at one point as I felt I needed more defensive support in the middle, which helped, but it didn't matter in the end.
Perhaps I need to manage the game better, but I definitely need to improve the defence. Ake just doesnt cut it any which way.
I wish I could see more detailed stats of when my goals and my opponents goals come, but I feel like I almost never score the late winner. I also feel like I wilt the more the game goes on. Perhaps I need to make changes beyond bringing on an attacker.
I miss the days of '19 when I could competently see out a game.

Have you been making use of the freebie Objective players? There are some crackers in there (Aidoo, Gravenberch, Capa etc.). If they're not 1st Team-worthy then they'd certainly help out from the bench.

Capa and Volland done. Most seemed to be struggling with the headers, but I got lucky and got 2 in my first match. It was the defender assists that killed me.
Still that's 2 very useful cards in. There's now potential to get Gosens in to link with said Volland and get Neuer/Ter Stegen in net. That'd be a big CB upgrade, but then it's getting a fullback on either side. Those leagues are not blessed with great options that I can afford(I wasn't in time to do Atal or A.Sandro).
My current thinking is I'd rather scrimp and save at the winger position for now as defending was the clear issue the weekend previous. Besides Mendy, my back line could all do with an upgrade. Gomez is good, but his low stamina and meh strength may be one of the things letting me down late on in games.
Plus if I can use objective cards over tradeable ones, it frees up coin for elsewhere.
Did the 8 Mega Packs in store with coins and got KDB in the last one, saving what otherwise would have been a huge loss.

I love OTW as a concept but it's shit as an actual promo. EA have no incentive to upgrade someone, whereas RTTF is much more straightforwards.
Next year I'm not spending on any high-value OTW cards. Have wasted coins on Rodrigo and Ziyech this year (sold the former for a 15k loss, the latter I actually like using still and has potential to recoup if he gets another IF). But, what I spent on them could have bought me half a Messi, FFS

Did the New Year and MMs this morning - out popped gold Ter Stegen, Benzema and a few other decent cards. Excellent stuff.
MM and New Year done, plus the Bundesliga (fair play to EA on the squad ratings required for that one - you can hammer bronzes into them) and that's 700 packs hit.

I'm currently considering whether to liquidate most of my tradable players. According to my spreadsheet (:cool:) that would take me up to 1.3m coins which would mean I could pick up Mbappe and Kante, or Cantona. Gonna wait and see what comes out in the new content tonight but I figure I have a load of decent but not spectacular cards which I don't think I'd take too much of a hit on just switching out say Buffon for Szcesney and getting my first team really strong. I tend to spread my funds thinly across multiple teams, rather than just buying some uber beast.
I figured with time running out people would not want to stick around if losing in Managerial Masterpiece, so I completed the MLS guys. My eyes are on using Lima and Long for this weekend to see how they get on. Lima especially doesn't look too shabby, even compared with Mendy.

I think giving up having Ronny on 10 chem is going to be best for building the rest of the squad out. But I'm not doing anything until 6pm. I want to see what the new season and headliners bring. Maybe an SBC or two or a new objective card that would fit in somewhere.
On the new season, I think I'm gonna forgo weekend league this time to concentrate on whatever comes and grinding league SBC's instead.
I'm hoping there's some good stuff to go at.
Since I've played there's been decent cards but nothing I'd say exceptional. Some of the ones I've missed though, especially all the Frenchies would have massively helped my current situation.
I also feel properly stupid for not doing Acuna now.
Same on Acuna. I’m normally bang on with these things, but having convinced myself he wasn’t worth it I was so wrong.
That card will take anyone’s squad up to TOTS.
I actually think he's that good he's wasted at LB. He needs to be played at CM I feel.
I remember doing the same with I think the TOTY Marcelo a few versions back.
