These nations league games have been terrible across the board, for almost everyone it seems. No doubt that is to do with where they fall in the calendar and everyone being knackered/checked out.
That said, Southgate's obsession with defensive football, with a team with very few decent defenders and a bombscare goalkeeper is irritating. 6yrs in and Southgate is still playing a right back at left back, playing 8 defenders against Hungary and picking a defender who has been genuinely terrible for about 18 months.
I'm pretty sure a different manager would have achieved the similar results in the prior euros and WC with the squad available. Perhaps.
