You'd think that someone would try and actually cover Kittle.
Bloody Denver d having a mare. How do you beat the chargers and then struggle against this lot.
Just mark kittle and you've undone the offence.
That was incredible by JuJu.
Steelers
Losing to that shite :harold:
That Rams/Bears game was every bit as enjoyable as the Chiefs game
The fucking Bears :(
Nope. Absolutely not. Not having that at all.
Yeah, I thought everyone was losing their shit a bit too much over that no look thing.
Wild game though.
With the various high flying offences faltering of late, I was thinking to myself when was the last time such a team actually won the Superbowl?
By the time things got to a head last year the Eagles weren't (even if maybe they were at the outset), I'm not sure either New England wins in recent years would see them qualify (certainly not against the Hawks who were the high flyers, maybe against Seattle), other than that, back to the last time the Saints won it?
This was so much better:
Rodgers is the only one that could also do it. Less so this year.
Haven't seen throws like that since Favre.
Loomar officially the starter.
Flacco will spend the final few weeks on the bench and, more than likely, get cut when the season is done.
Wentz is done for the season again.
The only way he plays again is if Big Dick Nick gets a win in LA against the Rams. As that's never happening, there's always next year.
Just seen the current names for the East/West Shrine game. There are a decent number of names I've never heard, but there are also some pretty good players going:

Those are the notable names, the majority of which should get drafted, with a few of them having a shot to go on day two.
Draft season
I'm on Team Qadree Ollison and Sheldrick Redwine.
Anyone staying up for this?
He's like a cheat code at times.
He shouldn't throw that in a million years and yet it ends up nicely into his receiver.
your man on nfl show was talking about he looks one way and just casually chucks it the other way. without seeing a replay i'm pretty sure that's exactly what he just did, if not for the TD then at least for the ball before (please forgive me i'm 8 pints down and don't really understand nfl at the best of times)
Also i reckon the way the chargers kick returner just spilled that should be punished rather than just being on the 25.
That's what, the third close game KC have lost this season? And they probably should have lost at the weekend too.
Doesn't really bode well for their post-season hopes. At Arrowhead as well.
Pretty harsh on whichever of these two miss out on the bye seeing as they both have conference leading records.
From what I saw of that last night the Chiefs' RB played well, but if Kareem Hunt is in that game they win it by two scores, maybe more.
Mahomes showed a few more glimpses of mortality too, particularly on that easily avoidable sack near the end which pretty much gave up the game. He has bonkers arm talent, but he really needs to improve pretty much every other aspect of his game.
He's in his first season starting, he'll get there. All you're looking for at this stage is the base to build upon. Hell, Rodgers had 3 years as under study at Green Bay and then a shaky start.
Would love to see the chargers go all the way for Phillip rivers. Without a ring he probably gets overlooked for the hall whilst brother Eli doesn't.
Hadn't realised jarrett stidham had declared for the draft. He's had a pretty poor season, so a bit surprised by that. Either he's getting some buzz or he just doesn't rate college.
Benny snell the Kentucky runner is going too. As is about half of the talent at ole miss.
Some serious talk about kyler Murray choosing football which would be wild. I can see him trying to manage both, but to flat out turn his back on baseball which he's far better suited to and likely would be far more lucrative for him is mental. He must fucking love football.
Interesting to find out how the NFL would evaluate him. Doug flutie is about the only analogue for short guys I can think of, and he was tiny. Kyler is a cross beteeen him and an rg3/vick/kaepernick.
Has he not signed a baseball contract?
He might do what Russell Wilson has done. Play in the NFL until you get sick of it, but then go play Baseball after.
There’s probably not much Stidham can gain from going back, to be fair. Might as well get out the way of the 2020 class & hope he can get some momentum on the all star circuit. It sounds like he’s properly torpedoed his draft stock this year though - some places have him as a day three guy now. He’ll probably still end up going day two just on name recognition.
Benny Snell will probably be a mid round (3-5) guy, depending on how well he tests. He’s one of the better physical guys in the class, but I’m not sure he’ll be a feature back, so his value will be pretty limited. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him go in the Samaje Perine range (think that was R4).
Kyler is a really interesting one - I won’t believe he’s declaring until he does, and he’s got the physique of a 12 year old, but you can’t deny he tore it up this year. It’s then a question of how much was the scheme & what traits did he show that actually translate to the NFL, and do you think you can build an offence that suits him. I’ve heard his name mentioned as a potential late first rounder though, so I guess we’ll see.
I think the entire Ole Miss offence is coming out - all three WRs, OT Greg Little & QB Jordan Ta’amu are for sure, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if TE Dawson Knox declared as well, especially now their OC has got another job (I think).
Don't forget there's a game tonight because the two NY teams are at home the same week.
Texans at the Jets followed by Browns at Broncos. If there wasn't severe fantasy relevance for me I'd not bother.
Forget that, it's utah state vs north Texas mean green. Talk about prestige in the, also prestigious, New Mexico bowl.
Fresno State v Arizona State is on now, and I’d imagine that’s the one to watch.
Yeah, realised that after and immediately switched over.
Gonna hopefully watch my Texans fuck up the jets though. :yn:
High scoring win for the Texans please.
I'm going to try to awkwardly flip between the two games whilst also watching something on Netflix with my housemate.
N'Keal Harry isn't playing so it's only really Manny Wilkins & KeeSean Johnson that I want to watch in the Las Vegas Bowl anyway.
Well all I've seen of manny Wilkins thus far was a 3 and out and then pick 6. He must've done something though as they did go score.
That ASU touchdown run featured the least co-ordinated set of juke moves I've ever seen :D I'm not sure whether Manny will come out this year or not, but he'd probably be wise to go back if he still has eligibility. The baggy sleeves alone make him undraftable.
That 'in the grasp' call on DeShaun was horrific.
That 'sack' of Watson was bullshit.
I have Hopkins and my fantasy opponent has the Texans D and kicker. Pretty poor start for me there.
This Jets offence is pretty shambolic.
How the fuck do you just let the best WR in the game walk into the end zone from 50 yards?
All of these field goals are driving me mad.
Darnold is an awful looking player. How did he go in the first round with that wind-up?
Panic?
He's mobile and throws really quite well on the run too, but as a pocket passer he isn't appearing up to much.
I thought Darnold played quite well today. Just needs a bit more poise in the pocket, but when you only have one half-decent receiver in Robby Anderson, it's hard to look impressive. You have to remember how bad Goff looked in his first season under Fisher, so if Bowles goes (as he should) and the Jets bring in someone in the McVay mould, he could definitely fulfil that potential. He's still only 21 too.
Darnold is really talented, but he's not got the processing side of it down yet, and it makes him pretty inconsistent in the pocket. They need to get an offensive guy in (there's no McVay out there, in all likelihood, but anyone with a decent, modern vision would be a start), and they definitely need to get at least one actual talented player on their offence. Robby Anderson is the best they have, and he's a complimentary receiver. Other than him, the WR group is down there with the worst in the league, and their RBs & O-Line aren't any better.
On that note, I watched some Kelvin Harmon film today. DK Metcalf is more of a physical freak than he is, but Harmon is the better player right now, and he's still a pretty impressive athlete in his own right. He's really good when the ball is in the air, tracks it well & has a knack for getting his body between the defender & the ball. He's got good speed & acceleration for a big guy too (we're talking sub 4.60), can get some yards with the ball in his hands and he runs a surprisingly diverse route tree for a big college receiver. Could be a pretty nice WR1 for a team like the Jets. Or Baltimore...
Also stumbled across a freshman they recruited to replace Nyheim Hines & Jaylen Samuels who looks good, so keep an ear out for Ricky Person in a couple of years. Their main guy Reggie Gallaspy is solid too, and they have another WR called Jakobi Meyers who used to play QB but now looks like a legit prospect too. He's a junior, so he could declare, but I'd imagine he'll be a 2020 guy.
They're a pretty good team to watch, actually, considering last season they had the aforementioned offensive guys plus a stacked D-Line that all got drafted last year (Bradley Chubb, Kentavius Street, BJ Hall & Justin Jones).
Can the Jets take Marty Mornhinweg from us.
He's awesome, honest.
How the fuck does Perriman catch that?
Because the shirt doesn't say Baltimore on it.
I feel like a Man Utd fan for today. Having a shit season and about to take a hammering off the dreaded scum. Hopefully Gamepass black it out or something.
What's all the Gotham City stuff on the Jets gear for? Advertising tie-in?
Olawale :D
Prescott sold him a little short, but yeah, shocking drop nonetheless :D
You look at the jets offence and wonder where the talent is. Suppose that's what you get when you'd draft DL in round one repeatedly.
So what's the consensus on our 5 first rounders?
Josh Allen seems a really good fit in buffalo, and who knew he'd turn out to be a great runner.
Josh Rosen needs to improve or he's going to be a bust.
Darnold looks like he has potential.
Baker has looked legit. I was surprised when he went number 1, but honestly I can see why now. He could be the guy in Cleveland for a long while.
Lamar Jackson needs to learn to be better at throwing the ball, or he'll fade into a Josh Johnson kind of guy. Problem for him is he's not hugely intelligent either, so it won't come easy.
Every year there's a mid rounder who's just been so dominant in college that I root for them.
A couple of years ago it was joe Schobert who was just dominant at Wisconsin. This year it was Sam Hubbard from Ohio state. He's a steal and given he went to college in Ohio too, the bengals have got a good chance of keeping him happy.
Lamar Jackson really is a poor man's Tim Tebow. He'll be out the league within 2 years.
Yeah, Loomar sucks.
Tebow is built like a fucking tank though so could afford to play battering ram. Lamar Jackson isn't. Kind of get the fear that he'll crumble at some point.
There's something really satisfying about watching the cowboys get stuffed.
Ty Hilton is so good though. Wee twitchy receivers like that are so hard to cover.
No RBs for the Bills :D
Chuck a backup DL into the rotation. The more you can do.
Tbf they probably have a receiver or DB on the roster that played there in high schoool or college who could come in. Think Charles James in the Texans hard knocks series.
Eddie Jackson is so good this year.
Cheap and fuck too as a 4th round pick.
Bama dbs doing well with minkah Fitzpatrick looking good too.
4th and 11 and Tannehill basically gets sacked by his own player.
:D
What a div. Someone should tell him his job is to throw the ball at some point.
I fucking loved Tebow. I mean he was shit but that one year when it felt like l the wins we got were by the skin of the teeth was amazing.
And then the refs taking ages to explain the new overtime rules just to have Tebow find Thomas for the winning score straight away in that playoff game against the Steelers.
Gus the Bus is genuinely great.
Allen has been really good, but he seems to have a coordinator who actually draws stuff up that suits him. The rushing has been a huge boost to his production though.
Darnold has been pretty much what was expected - occasionally brilliant, occasionally horrific. He'll get there with experience, weapons & a coaching change.
Rosen has been fucked as much as Darnold by the shambles around him, but doesn't have the athleticism to extend plays, so he's suffered more. Get him a decent O-line & a new coach & he should be fine.
Baker has balled out, which he was always going to do just by sheer force of will, if nothing else. He'll just get better & better if they can get a decent head coach & some improvements to the line/WRs
Lamar looks to have had the biggest struggle as a passer so far, but he showed he can throw it at Louisville, so there's still hope he can get it together if they can get the right tools around him.
---
Essentially, the ones with good OCs have done well, and the ones with shit OCs and/or bad O-Lines have struggled. It's hard to really judge them until they've had at least three seasons, and you'd hope the team would get better around them in that time.
Jags are doing a good job working their way up the draft board to have a shot at the best available qb.
How does that team only have 4 wins?
Has someone been talking shit about my Tim in this thread?
Seabass on that kick return TD :D He looked like a kicker in his early forties.
This has been one big troll job for George Kittle fantasy owners so far - Mullens has missed him wide open twice, and now Garrett Celek gets the long, walk in TD when a defender falls down.
To be fair if you have a QB set like that you get used to setting up to play a certain way. Short, safe complete passes were the order of the day for him whilst leaning heavily on the running game. Problem is once teams shut down the running game, which they mostly have against the Jags, you need your QB to produce and he just can't. Kessler is of the same ilk.
It's be interesting how far that defence could go with an expansive guy like Mahomes with the ball on their side.
That was mighty impressive by Haden.
Gronk is breathing out of his arse and getting triple covered yet Brady is still trying to find him.
What is going on?!
Goff has been rancid, absolutely nothing has gone his way. This game is like the Dorian Gray price he's paying for the game he had against the Chiefs.
Nick Foles looks a lot like Lucas Leiva on that graphic Sky throw up whenever they're headed to adverts.
He’s melted the last couple of games when it’s counted. He was miserable against Chicago too.
Full steam ahead on the old man Superbowl (Saints v Chargers).
They should move it to San Diego.
That’s the dream SuperBowl
I’d also settle for Chicago against Baltimore in an old fashioned ‘run the ball & play defence’ SuperBowl.
That sounds disgusting.
Yesterday when Barber ran it up the middle every play and got a TD the commentator claimed they were "Out Baltimore-ing Baltimore". I'm sure he meant it as a good thing... but I couldn't help but feel it was the harshest insult ever given.
The seethe from Browning if we get there
With the legs of Gus the Bus and Loomar guiding us.
What's the 'Loomar' thing about?
Well that wasn’t pretty, but the win’s all that matters.
@Foe Georgia freshman QB Justin Fields is ‘exploring a transfer’ apparently :harold:
Did he not watch Jake Fromm before he committed? From(m) the little I’ve seen of Fields he never stood a chance of competing even though he’s meant to be the top QB in his class (clearly that was actually Trevor Lawrence).
He’ll have to sit out a year as well :D
Yeah, I do wonder what the fuck these high school qbs think. They must have massive egos to think that they can literally beat out anyone. Even Lawrence going to Clemson was a bit odd with Kelly Bryant.
If any top ranked qbs go to bama when tua is there, and his brother likely to follow, they need their head melted.
Great example is Blake Barnett. High school 5 star recruit. Sat in bama, realised he would start and fucked off. Went to Arizona state and couldn't even beat out that scetchy cat there and wound up at south Florida.
If he's gone somewhere like lsu, Washington state, USC etc he'd have had a legit chance. Now he's fucked his career before it even started.
Fields, hurts, Bryant all hunting for a new home.
I've just seen that there is a WR in college called Lil'Jordan Humphrey after browsing a Ravens mock draft.
I thought the Lil was just the author taking the piss.
I know the big programmes recruit endless five star guys on the basis that everyone will compete & the best guys play, but when you’re considering where you go as a QB surely you can tell the difference between having to go against a guy like Kelly Bryant or Jalen Hurts & someone like Jake Fromm.
Can’t help noticing the three guys who lost are all running QBs going up against guys that can throw :sherlock:
Yeah, agree in principle.
Some serious egos though. Guess some of these qbs just have in their head that's where they want to go. Dwayne Haskins knew he was going to Ohio state since he was about 13, suspect fields just wanted to play at Georgia and backed himself. Look at kyler Murray - he was mr Texas football winning everything in sight and yet has one season as a start to his resume.

I was just coming to lol at some of those picks. Then again, I guess we should be used to it by now.
It's an absolute shit show every year. Surprised Clinton-Dix didn't make it again.
Raiders have signed Peterman.
Josh Gordon is ‘stepping away from football’ again to concentrate on his mental health. Also talk that he breached the terms of his reinstatement & is facing another indefinite ban.
Hopefully he can get his life in order & come back, but it doesn’t seem likely.
Saw that earlier. The Browns obviously saw this coming when they let him go. Maybe the patriots saw it too and decided it was worth having him for the what 8 or 9 games?
In some respects it's a bit bullshit that the guy who is clearly talented doesn't get to play because he likes to smoke weed. It's not even illegal in all parts of the country.
Assuming that's what has got him.
At the end of the day, he signed a contract when joining the league agreeing not to smoke.
If it's that important to him he just should have not bothered.
He's a fool (as are others), this is a chance to set you up with millions and you just have to stop for a few years.
In fairness, he's probably already made millions, without giving up.
From the comments guys are making on Twitter it sounds like it might not be about the weed this time.
True.
Probably blown it though.
Mental health my hole. He's a junkie scumbag and doing a disservice to anyone with a real mental health problem.
He's certainly had an eventful life. Also his manager sounds like a staggering arsehole.
In other news, Mississippi State's Jeffery Simmons has declared for the draft. He's a stud DT, but he also has a few off field issues (well one, he broke up a fight between some girl & his sister in high school & hit the other girl, but he's generally regarded as a high character guy other than that one incident & will almost certainly be a high first rounder)
:moop:
A bit premature considering we might not even make the playoffs and we really need a chance in offensive co-ordinator which Harbaugh wont do.
To be fair, I think he's a good coach and a likeable guy, but good god his team is turgid to watch most of the time.
He is a good coach but he likes surrounding himself with mediocre yes men who have worked their way up at the team.
Right now Mornihnweg is fucking awful and he's been the main problem behind our turgid attack. He should have gone ages ago but he's Harbaugh's (and Flacco's) guy so he wont get sacked unless it comes from the top. That's the main problem which is why he should go.
Forgot that there are games today.
Skins/Titans on right now with Ravens/Chargers later.
That's brutal from Washington.
It's nice to finally be able to appreciate Adrian Peterson.
I don't like that the Chargers have got Allen and Gordon back today :(
Brandon Carr, what a fucking pick.
That third down conversion from the Chargers a few moments ago was lovely.
Outstanding bottle job from the Chargers offence there. What was it in the end, two picks, two fumbles lost & about a billion sacks?
Baltimore might end up taking the North outright at this rate.
Yeah, fuck the wildcard we want the division.
He had his first rush that went for negative yards (-1) last night after 114 rushes of 0 or more.
I think we've stumbled on a potentially great runner here. Obviously the strange rushing attack spearheaded by Loomar is helping but 5.1 yards per carry, doesn't lose yards and he doesn't fumble.
Yeah I was banking on the Chargers taking that last night. I missed the game, but even judging from the highlights, the Ravens just dominated throughout. That defence is pretty scary once it gets going and I don't rate the Steelers' chances from this point on. I think Baltimore take the North, and the Chargers and Colts are taking the AFC Wildcard spots.
Of course, I'd be delighted if the Steelers prove me wrong and pull off an upset today, but the Saints are a different animal in their dome.
Our problem in defence is that it gets soft near the end. We give up a lot of late game winning TD's/FG's due to soft coverage.
I hate the Christmas period, I never know what day it is so I missed the first 40 minutes of Redzone.
That's a stunning fumble by Kessler.
Fucking hell, Jarvis Landry has a better arm than half of the NFL starters on the basis of that play. Perriman catching deep shots for fun now he's in a Browns jersey.
He's not even under any real pressure too.
That tackle by Matt Bosher
Better tackling that most of the Falcons secondary.
Fucking levelled the kick returner.
Matt Bosher.
Turns it into a rock bottom.
What a fucking awful call in the Eagles-Texans game. Graham is literally arms out, making sure not to fall on Watson and STILL gets called for roughing the passer. Absolute joke.
The defending by the Lions on that hail mary was woeful.
Cousins throwing a hail mary at half time the fucking madman
Lions love giving up Hail Mary TDs to tight ends called Rudolph.
They love giving them up no matter who it's to.
Rodgers had 2 a season or two ago didn't he?
Last play of the game winner 3 years ago. He then had one in the playoffs v the Cardinals when Jeff Janis beat about 3 in coverage to catch it on the last play and take it to OT.
Gurley inactive. Great. Just what you need.
That Rudolph td was a thing of beauty though.
That throw by Foles was glorious.
Cowboys into the playoffs
Fairly astonishingly bad last 3 or 4 minutes from Philly, although Houston are now trying to repay the favour having gone ahead.
Green Bay/Jets is mental.
Jets v Aaron Rodgers more like.
Keeps the myth going another while.
Baker Mayfield is some tosser.
Rodgers is channelling his inner Lamar Jackson.
Trying to watch saints Steelers on sky sports but it's super choppy, just me?
Fucking hell, refs utterly bottling it and handing the Saints that TD.
I'm not an NFL expert but how the fuck is that pass interference
Fitzmagic
Yeah, Larry's taking the name with that pass.
The Cards finally found a QB... shame he's about to retire.
I assume you mean he's a wanker, rather than good at throwing the ball. I adopted the Browns as my team at the start of the season, based on nothing more than them being absolutely shite last year, and I had built up enough of a dislike for Hue by the time he got the bullet that I'd have to resist a strong urge to gloat in his presence, so I can forgive Mayfield a bit of a staredown.
'Mon Saints.
MON.
Michael Thomas is so good.
Blatant push off though.
Anyone notice that a lot of WWE music is played in NFL stadiums?
I've heard Taker's and Stone Cold's today and hear Triple H's on the regular.
Juju :harold:
Fuck all the Steelers.
AFC North is ours.
Baker will fuck you up next week. It's in the stars, the Browns to determine the division.
Oh and what was it, 14 or 17 points directly from ref decisions? Not the only reason the Steelers lost but fucking hell, it's hard when you fight against that.
If we beat the Browns and Colts/Titans have a winner then Steelers wont even get a wildcard.
Yeah it's division or bust after the Titans and Colts both won. Can they flex the Browns/Ravens to SNF? Would be a quality primetime game with all the implications.
We got away with that one - their offence was cruising up the field on us all day, but the two fumbles saved the day.
We’ve slowed down on offence lately, so I still don’t think we’re in with a great shot in the postseason, but home field should help.
I for one am stunned that Josh Rosen got hurt playing against the Rams with that offensive line.
Also, that sidearm throw from Mahomes last night was the latest entry to his highlight reel  Shame their defence is fucking garbage though.
So two LSU guys shot someone dead. One was a walk on guy, but the other was their sophomore RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Apparently they acted in self defence as the dude was trying to rob them & had pulled a gun on them, but the reports say he was shot ‘multiple times’ so whatever way it happened it’s not good.
If only there was more guns in that situation.
DJ Swearinger came out after the Titans game & called out the Redskins DC, claiming he watches more film than the coaches & saying they should've been playing zone rather than man against Blaine Gabbert at the end of the game.
He was cut today :D
That was so smart by Dwayne Harris.
Justin Herbert is officially going back to Oregon next season. They’ve got to be early favourites for the PAC-12, and a decent sleeper playoff team next season. Surely makes Haskins coming out even easier for him now too.
In other news, Phillip Lindsay is done for the year & will need surgery, Blake Bortles is starting in week 17 (as is Kyle Allen for Carolina against the Saints, lol), and DJ Swearinger has been claimed by his old team Arizona.
Full on tanking mode engaged :p
That's a pretty wild decision. Wonder whether the NFL was whiffing on him and it's not clear. Would be surprised to see him go back if they were sounding positive. Particularly given the Matt Barkley scenario really wasn't that long ago and he came out of the same conference.
Haskins has hit the jackpot. Next years draft will be dame day good. Particularly if the pats/steelers/chargers/saints/giants are in the market.
What has to happen for Indianapolis to get eliminated? Could really do without the inevitable Luck wankathon.
I’d imagine just losing to Tennessee would do it, given they’re both still in the hunt, but a Steelers win would probably help too.
I think it was probably a combination of him having an underwhelming season & the potential they have for next year, especially as one of the guys coming in is his brother. Mario Cristobal seems to be a great recruiter, so he probably had a hand in persuading Herbert to go back too.
I’d imagine at least a couple of the teams with old QBs take someone in the r2-5 range this draft. Should have a ton of developmental guys available, even if we assume Haskins, Lock & Grier all go in round one - Clayton Thorson, Jarrett Stidham, Brett Rypien, Daniel Jones, Ryan Finley, Tyree Jackson, Jordan Ta’amu & probably others I’ve forgotten could all be guys that get picked up to be possible future starters.
Oh shit, I forgot the college playoff games were tomorrow
Think the good bowl games start from tonight, too. I've basically ignored college football for a couple of weeks so looking forward to it coming back.
We’ve had a couple of decent ones - I was disappointed that BC/Boise State got cancelled, as that could have been good, and Temple/Duke & Miami/Wisconsin from last night have some NFL prospects in, even if they were both blowouts.
It gets legit from now though - even Auburn/Purdue could be worth a look. I’m hoping one of the condensed game YouTube channels starts putting them up, as I won’t be able to watch half of the game otherwise.
Meanwhile, in NFL news, Ben Watson is planning to retire at the end of the season, and KC have given Damien Williams a 2yr deal.
One of my earliest memories of a game I watched as a Broncos fan was Ben Watson charging diagonally across the field to bring down Champ Bailey on an interception return.
Nice of Purdue to field literally no defenders today. Auburn have scored 35pts, including TD passes of 52, 66 & 77 yards, and we're barely into the second quarter. The Jarrett Stidham hype will be growing again at this rate.
Turned it on. Saw the weak defence. Turned it off.
Blowout.
Hakeem Butler has declared for the draft. He's been a beast this season, and he had a pretty tasty catch yesterday, which is basically what he's been doing all season.
Alamo Bowl looks to have been a pretty good one, actually. Gardner Minshew did his best Baker Mayfield impression in the highlights I've seen.
In other draft news, it looks like the entire Oregon offensive line is coming back, which just makes them even better for next year, and Buffalo QB Tyree Jackson, who's 6' 7" with a monster arm & good athleticism (think Josh Allen wearing platform boots), is applying for a transfer rather than coming out. If he ends up in a decent programme it could be huge for his 2020 draft stock.
Did not realise dexter Lawrence had failed a drug test for PED.
He better hope he can figure out where it came from, or admit his mistake. Three of them failed for the same substance though, so could well be a programme fuck up in a supplement.
Nightmare for the big man, missing the semi final and adding a blemish to his draft stock.
Hoping for a Clemson win here followed by a shootout in the bama Oklahoma game. Would love a Clemson Oklahoma final but suspect bamas defence will stop kyler Murray sometimes whilst Oklahoma defence will not be able to stop bama. Waddle, Judy and that nippy RB that jumps sideways will tear them apart.
Breaks haven't been going Notre Dame's way so far, but it looks like it's going to be a pretty even game.
Yeah. Notre dame are one of those teams I've seen very little of, bar the Michigan game.
They've looked a lot better then I thought they would. The Clemson offence isn't churning as much as I expected. Renfrew aside I'm not sure where their passing game is against a good defence.
Two fumbles from notre dame already though and one from Clemson. Playing with fire.
Justyn Ross is going to be a stud in a year or two. I bloody love Hunter Renfrow as well.
Mitch Hyatt, on the other hand, fucking sucks. That sack he just gave up with embarrassing.
Three calls reversed in favour of Clemson now :D
Nevermind. Hell of a catch from Tee Higgins there.
Trevor Lawrence has played well so far. Surprised by how much he's run the ball, but his toughness has been impressive - he took a shot from about three players on one third down run which looked vicious, but he just got up & carried on.
Four calls reversed now, all going from in favour of Notre Dame to in favour of Clemson. Sometimes it's just not your day.
This one might get very ugly, very quickly. Kyler's looking like he wants to go play baseball so far.
I think, if it wasn't already clear, today has made it obvious that there are two teams way ahead of the rest, and the third best team is not one of the ones that made the playoffs.
This could end up being worse than the Auburn/Purdue & Army/Houston games. Alabama are on pace to win 84-0 :D
Well, at least we ended up with a decent game after the first quarter. Alabama did go a bit conservative, but they made plays when they had to. The Josh Jacobs hype train is really picking up steam now - he definitely seems to be in with a shot at being the first RB off the board if he decides to declare.
Last one tonight :(
That was a quick season.
Yeah, bama never really looked in trouble.
Clemson were also far, far too good for notre dame. Georgia must be raging. They would've done a better job than notre dame or Oklahoma there.
Yeah, josh Jacobs is one of those kamara/cohen/David Johnson types. The big bodies at bama normally take the lead but aren't necessarily the best pro prospect. See bo Scarborough.
There's talk that the Raiders might play all their home games at Spurs next year. They still haven't sorted a home stadium yet and it's an option they're weighing up.
As if Spurs will be open.
Adams inactive. There's any good reason for watching out the window now.
Some serious digging down the depth chart today.
Kyle Allen starting for the panthers.
Gonna see what young players have futures this afternoon.
How do they overturn that Watson TD :cab:
Packers need to bench Rodgers before he gets done completely. No reason for him to be playing behind that line.
Saints getting whiffed at home by Carolina with Kyle Allen toasting them.
:cab:
Prater TD pass. That sums up the season.
Shiiiiit Kizer is inaccurate.
Tannehill is better at catching TD passes than throwing them.
Josh Allen should stick to rushing.
Barkley only the third rookie to do 2,000 scrimmage yards after Dickerson and Edgerrin James.
Garett Gilbert at QB for Panthers now.
Who?
Josh Allen with 3 passing and 2 rushing TDs today. From what a trainwreck Buffalo seemed at the start of the year, they have some real promise if they can pick up some skill position players for 2019.
Bills throwing a pass to Kyle Williams who is retiring after the game
I thought Perriman couldn't catch at M&T bank stadium :moop:
One of the keys to this Ravens rushing attack is the incessant holding from the O-line. Very helpful.
Big Ben moaning as it was clearly the refs fault for him throwing an awful pass and allowing the safety to undercut the route for a pick 6. Wanker.
This play baffled me:
Why did Jared Cook not run a route? Why did Derek Carr look over and decide 'yeah, that looks good'?
Jackson doesn't protect himself at all so the only hope you have is to use that advantage to take him out.
We need to win and Vikings lose to take their Wildcard spot. Vikings currently down by 13, we're up by 10. :D
Jimmy Smith
Loomar looks short there and then fumbles.
Browns completely robbed there.
The Browns getting a rough deal here today. Could easily be 20-14 right now.
Why are the Cardinals trying to win this?
Lose, get the first round pick, trade down slightly and profit.
Garbage game or not, you can't just go about losing 31-0 at home to the sodding Lions.
CJ mother fucking Mosley
What a play that was.
Gutting end to it all. Really thought the Browns could complete the comeback and send the Steelers to the playoffs, Mayfield was looking pretty damn good throughout that 2nd half.
Aw, I was hoping Chubb might make a push for Kearse's rookie sack record.
I’ll probably get a little end of season awards list up tonight or tomorrow, and try to dig out the preseason one so everyone can lol at me saying the Chiefs were the team most likely to flop & Andy Reid would be the first coach fired.
Fuck me absolutely everyone is being fired.
Vance Joseph, Adam Gase and Marvin Lewis just in the past 30 mins.
Joseph has been a dead man walking for a while.
Apparently Denver have asked New England's permission to interview their defensive coordinator.
Packers want Josh McDaniels too.
Raiders are hiring Mike fucking Mayock to be their GM :D
At least we wont have to hear his bollocks during draft day and we'll get to see how shit he really is.
Add Steve Wilkes to the list, less than 24 hours after Patrick Peterson says he was staying.
The Bengals ditching Marvin Lewis after a billion years (and presumably sending him into an executive role) only to then hire Hue Jackson is fantastic. Baker must be giddy right now.
Gase is probably the least deserving fire (I guess Wilkes too considering he’s had one season with a team that has about five NFL starters on the entire roster), but hopefully we’ll see some interesting hires.
Is the Mayock thing actually happening, or are we still going off him having an interview?
Hunter Henry is apparently going to play against Baltimore
Mayock is already in the building and signed.
Oh shit
Coach & GM both hired straight off the telly having not been directly involved in day to day football operations for decades. What can possibly go wrong?
It's being reported that Antonio Brown didn't play this weekend gone as he had a disagreement with Big Ben the week before. He expected Tomlin to ease the situation in the media but he pretended like it never happened.
Brown turned up for walkthroughs but then quit them and left the stadium before half time.
Reports now say he has requested a trade away from the team.
If you're Buffalo/Arizona/NY Jets/San Fran/Oakland do you give up your first rounder for him?
Oakland would be stupid not to (which means they wont) considering the capital they have.
The only one I think can be ruled out is the Niners.
49ers should be straight on the phone. Him Kittle and Jimmy G would be disgusting especially once they get McKinnon back.
Whether the Steelers would allow both Brown and Bell to leave is another matter.
Packers have an extra first rounder and some cap space in 2019.
Bills would make a lot of sense though. They've got a tough defence, there's future franchise qb who likes to bomb it. They might want to replace their retiring DT though, and there's load of really solid options available at that end of the draft board.
I don't think the steelers will let him walk. They've lost leveon, Bryant and then brown? That would be really leaning on Conner and juju. Depends if Big Ben decides to give it up I suppose. If he does, they're in rebuild anyway unless mason rudolph is a silent superstar.
UCF are in danger of losing their streak too. About to be down 14 with 20 minutes left.
Thirteen even but a muffed lsu punt reception opens it up again.
Packers need 3 linemen, a tight end, 2 outside linebackers, and a pair of safeties in a massive way before they even think about anything else. I'd be happy enough with Valdez Scantling and St.Brown with another year under them being 2 and 3 after Adams and fill other holes anyway.
Sounds like he didn't actually request a trade, so most of this is probably irrelevant, but if I was the Jets I'd be trying to get them both. Ben will stay as long as he can in spite because the team dared to draft a QB who might replace him, but Bell is gone for sure. They're really not in a good place at the moment though, so they might have to deal with a couple more seasons like this before they can actually get a proper rebuild underway.
Agreed about the WRs - Adams, MVS, ESB, Kumerow & J'Mon Moore is a solid enough set of guys, especially considering it seems to take a year or two for people to get chemistry going with Rodgers. I'd imagine they'll use one of the first rounders on an edge rusher, and the other on a safety or a lineman, depending on who falls.

Latest declarations for the draft include Florida OT Jawaan Taylor, TEs Jace Sternberger (Texas A&M) & Kaden Smith (Stanford), hyped up Duke QB Daniel Jones & his teammate, LB Joe Giles-Harris & NC State WR Jakobi Myers. Meanwhile, potential first rounder CBs Bryce Hall & Levonta Taylor are going back to school. Full list of who's in & who's out from the underclassmen can be found here.
Word is that some teams have contacted us about trading for Harbs :sherlock:
Sternberger was really good at A&M after transferring in from a small school (or JUCO?) so hope he works out.
Just been reading through a mock draft in cbs (yep, already) and there's a whole raft I've never heard of. Interestingly they had ed Oliver all the way down at thirteen and drew lock going to the broncos. Not buying that. Haskins at six to the giants though I could see...
Cleveland need to give the job to Williams. If they don't he's going to be a head coach somewhere else.
Packers need to go get Rivera and then let him hire a young hotshot OC. The likes of Daniels won't bring the required attitude change.
Even Williams if the Browns are stupid enough.
I've been reading them for months :D Who were the names you didn't recognise?
Ed seems to be slipping in mocks just because of Quinnen Williams & the number of teams who need other positions more. Drew Lock's going all over the place, but he does kinda seem like a Bronco QB (big arm, athletic white dude with questionable ability as an actual QB, hopefully better than Osweiler & Lynch), although maybe the second round is a better value (then again it's QB so value goes out the window).
Only one I recall it working for was the Buccaneers for Gruden.
Anyone watching the rose bowl? Got a feeling the buckeyes are going to fuck up washington.
Hopefully Haskins makes it through unhurt.
What we need is Rex Ryan to return. Jeff Fisher maybe.
I heard Rex Ryan's name mentioned for the Miami job in the two hours between Mark Richt retiring & Manny Diaz taking over, so maybe he could still be persuaded for the right job.
:roflol:
In related news, Lincoln Riley has signed a contract extension with Oklahoma.
Decided I'm going to record it and watch it tomorrow instead, as with the Georgia Texas game after. Will be a nice conclusion to annual leave before the doom and fear emerges.
Have we even mentioned the Jags voiding all of Leonard Fournette's guarantees? That's turned out to be a terrible pick. Wonder if he'll end up being traded/cut this offseason.
EDIT: Just about to watch the couple of Josh Jacobs games that have gone up on YouTube the last couple of days, and saw what I'd written down about Saquon - "potential to produce a 2000 all purpose yard season" as a rookie. He had 2028, hire me Oakland
Two 1sts for Harbaugh is exactly what the Browns need to do to fuck up all their hard work.
He also went and sulked with Yeldon throughout the entire of the last game of the season. Both were seen sat and giving no shits for what went on in the game.
There's also talk of him legally challenging them for the money owed as they are guarantees. That can surely only end in him being shown the door. He's missed 11 games in 2 seasons through injury and suspension. Given they're needing a QB, I'd look to ship him about for one or a decent draft pick to see about picking one up.
I guess you'd probably still get a second for him, but I'm not entirely convinced it wouldn't end up being a third. Why give up an early pick for him when he's had all these issues, and we've seen time & time again you can pretty much plug anyone you like in at RB if you have a good line/scheme - just look at Pittsburgh every time Lev Bell has been out or the Rams the last two weeks with CJ Anderson. Heck, even on the Jags it's not like TJ Yeldon was much of a difference, and Carlos Hyde keeps getting kicked out the door despite being an above average back.
With Foles & Teddy being available this year in free agency I'm not sure there are many great QB trade options, but how do you feel about these options?
1. Fournette & a third rounder for Jameis
2. Fournette & a second for Carr
3. Fournette & a fourth for Tannehill
4. Fournette & a fifth for Jacoby Brissett & a fourth
Man, the Texas offence is just AIDS - chuck it up to the big WRs until you get a third down or hit the redzone, then just run your QB as many times as it takes to get the first down/TD. Works in college though, as proven by Sam Ehlinger's three TDs, none of which were passes, and which all came from about two yards out. The last one came after four consecutive QB runs at the goal-line :cab:
Georgia's offence is AIDS in a completely different way - they try too hard to be classic Alabama & pass the ball about five times in the first half, then when they remember they have a first round QB & some good receivers they cruise up the field. It sounds like they could have given less of a fuck about the game if they'd tried though, so they deserved to get dicked on.
I really, really like this :D
:D
I like ‘victory’ & ‘slow victory’ as well. Not sure I’d call ‘take a safety’ enough to have it on the sheet though.
It feels a bit early to say the daftest opinion of the year has already been expressed, but I think the daftest opinion of the year has already been expressed.
He's going balls deep in trying to back himself on it too.
I mean, he’s kinda right. AB went in the sixth because he was an alright college player who had a shit combine, but character issues probably would’ve had something to do with it too if they were there.
EDIT: AB has even tweeted a draft profile of himself that mentions attitude/character concerns taking him off draft boards.
It’s LOL to try to pretend he hasn’t completely blown every conceivable expectation anyone has had for him out the water, and if anyone had thought he’d become what he has he’d obviously have been a first rounder, but he went where you’d expect given what teams knew about him at the time.
It's nice to try and be revisionist and all, but 34th all time on receiving yards and 35th for receiving TDs (currently, probably with potential to go top 10 in both) probably says the scouts didn't know what they were doing more than an apparent hissy fit 8 years down the line says they did.
If Pittsburgh thought there was any chance AB was going to become an all-time great WR they would’ve taken him earlier than round six. This isn’t scouts being clueless, this is AB working his arse off & improvising every aspect of his game to a degree that’s almost unheard of.
The guy’s an idiot for trying to say a couple of arguments proves he went in the right spot, because he’s basically saying everyone knew he’s be what he’s become & the only reason he fell was because he threw a few strops.
He went in the sixth 90% because nobody thought he was very good, and 10% because people thought he might be a dick, not the other way round.
Everyone knew Manziel was going to be trouble off the field, and yet he still went in the first because teams don’t give a fuck if you’re difficult if they also think you’re amazing at football. Meanwhile, there are loads of outstanding professionals who go undrafted every year because teams don’t care how great you are as a person if you’re also shit at football.
Evaluating AB then is like looking at Antonio Callaway in college. If he becomes a superstar everyone will say he should have gone round one, and it’s entirely possible he does, but I don’t hear anyone saying that now given what we know at this moment.
It’s why scouting is so hard. You can only make your best guess based on the information available to you at the time - tape, testing & interviews - and you pretty much have to accept you’re going to be wrong twice as often as you’re right.
More declarations for the draft, including:
- Five Penn State guys, the most notable being Miles Sanders (RB), Connor McGovern (C) & Shareef Miller (EDGE)
- Dawson Knox (TE, Ole Miss) - that's the QB, three starting WRs, TE & LT all gone.
- Vosean Joseph (LB, Florida)
- Darius Slayton (WR, Auburn)
- Joe Jackson (EDGE, Miami)
- Taylor Rapp (S, Washington)
- Both David Long's (West Virginia LB & Michigan CB)
Also a few names confirmed to be going back to school:
- Tyler Biadasz (C, Wisconsin). Look for him to be a high first rounder next season - he's a stud already as a redshirt sophomore.
- Collin Johnson (WR, Texas)
- All three starting linebackers for Miami (Shaq Quarterman, Michael Pinckney & Zach McCloud)
Deadline for underclassmen to declare is 14th Jan, I believe, so ten days until we have the final list of draftable players
I'm not too sure where we'll go via the draft.
I'd assume some more O-line help (Yanda, Stanley and Brown are great, the rest meh), CB (Carr is 33 and Jimmy is 31), Safety (Jefferson hasn't performed, Weddle is getting on) and I guess WR (like we'll be fucking throwing) are the obvious holes.
Do we draft a RB? Before Gus broke out I'd say no but he and Dixon are doing so well. Perhaps an edge rusher due to Suggs age.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/contracts/
Just seen our contacts actually. Suggs apparently wants to stay (he deserves to) and depending on what the contract types are I can only see us keeping Za'Darius Smith, Pierce, Onwuasor, Gus and possibly Urban along with Eluemenor or Skura.
So a MLB would also be on the cards as I can't see us working a deal with Mosley.
Finalists for the Hall of Fame have been announced:
Tony Gonzalez
Isaac Bruce
Edgerrin James
Ed Reed
Steve Atwater
Champ Bailey
Ty Law
John Lynch
Tony Boselli
Steve Hutchinson
Alan Faneca
Kevin Mawae
Richard Seymour
Dan Coryell
Tom Flores
Reed, Bailey and Tony G first year guys. Oh and will John Lynch finally make it? Sixth time in a row he's been a finalist now.
Collin Johnson looks pretty nifty So happy he's going back. Sam ehlinger seems to be warming into the tebow bulldozing role but can actually throw it too. Have to think he needs to throw it more often if he wants NFL attention. Bulldozing won't come so easy in the NFL, despite him being 6'3 and 230.
You watch the Michigan "all or nothing" dan? Would be interesting for you with rashan Gary and Devin bush heading to THE LEAGUE.
Yeah, Ehlinger is a stud college QB who would probably go on day three in the draft - Trace McSorley will be that guy this year.
Not watched All or Nothing as I don’t have prime, but should probably look into it. Chase Winovich is the character guy from there, but I seem to remember hearing Gary comes over well from it, even if the show itself is a bit meh.

I'm a little surprised that Littleton wasn't in the first team. He blocked a couple of punts and I think he got a special teams TD.
Hang on, Saquon didn't get in either team? Was Zeke really better than him this season (honest question, don't think I've seen much of Dallas all year)? Also, how come Tyreek gets to be first team flex AND second team WR? Surely you could boot him out of a flex spot for Saquon. Same for Derwin James, actually.
Michael Dickson first team all pro punter as a rookie  Braden Mann could be the next stud in 2020, if anyone's looking for punters of the future.
EDIT: RBs Elijah Holyfield (Georgia) & Trayveon Williams (Texas A&M), CB Julian Love (Notre Dame), TE Isaac Nauta (Georgia) & WRs JJ Arcega-Whiteside (Stanford), Riley Ridley & Mecole Hardman (both Georgia) all declared now as well.
Half the Georgia offence leaving might help explain why they didn't give a fuck about playing Texas. They've also had Justin Fields transfer to Ohio State, which surely means Haskins is gone now.
Zeke was rushing leader so he was always going to get it.
Just remembered I was going to do an end of season thingy:
Following on from the one at the start of the year, here are the same individual awards for you to vote on:
Toggle Spoiler
For reference, I'm classifying MVP as 'the player who was most critical to the success of their team', and OPOTY/DPOTY & OROTY/DROTY as 'best offensive/defensive player/rookie regardless of positional value'.
You can also have another chance at predicting the playoffs:
Toggle Spoiler
I'm keeping my predictions from the start of the year.
AFC Conference Champion: Ravens
NFC Conference Champion: Rams
SuperBowl Champion: Ravens.
Loomar, Gus the Bus and Kenneth 'THE TRUTH' Dixon running all over everyone.
Such a pity these weren't 6 and 9pm games. Another bloody hour to go.
Texans and Dallas for me here, intriguing games though.
Texans and Seahawks for me.
Hawks a very sneaky bet to go far. Come in very under the radar.
Clowney to snap Luck in on the first drive
I've Indy, Dallas, Ravens, Bears.
Offensive Player of the Year: Mahomes and it's not even close
Defensive Player of the Year: Khalil Mack
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Mayfield mainly because he took over games as a rookie and changed the culture.
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Darius Leonard
Comeback Player of the Year: Captain Andrew Luck
The Oakland Raiders Award For Being Unexpectedly & Completely Abysmal: Kelvin Benjamin
The Alvin Kamara Award For The Player Who Comes From Nowhere To Be A Stud: James Conner
The Peyton Manning Award For The Great Player Who Suddenly Becomes Total Shit: Rob Gronkowski
Also,playoffs picks are Colts,Seahawks,Ravens,Bears.
TY Hilton, what a catch. Colts with a great opening drive!
Hilton owns this stadium.
Thought that should have been interference live but that's a good call.
As I didn't do any of these predictions at the start of the season, I've gone through the whole list.
MVP: Patrick Mahomes
Offensive Player of the Year: Pat Mahomes
Defensive Player of the Year: Aaron Donald
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Saquon Barkley
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Darius Leonard
Comeback Player of the Year: Andrew Luck
The Oakland Raiders Award For Being Unexpectedly & Completely Abysmal: Jags in general. That defence should not be lounging around bottom of the AFC South
The Alvin Kamara Award For The Player Who Comes From Nowhere To Be A Stud: George Kittle. The man is a beast!
The Peyton Manning Award For The Great Player Who Suddenly Becomes Total Shit: Chris Boswell (I know he wasn't "a great" beforehand, but after signing that mega contract, he went off a cliff this year)
AFC Conference Champion: LA Chargers
NFC Conference Champion: LA Rams
SuperBowl Champion: Rams in an 80 point+ Superbowl.
I'm in on the Colts and Seahawks tonight. I'd love the Colts to win the whole thing too, they've been great to watch recently.
This looks like the makings of a complete blowout.
I voted for Lindsay in the Alvin Kamara award but the Colts o-Line probably deserve it.
From 56 sacks given up last year (worst in the league) to just 18 this year (best in the league).
Only game I'll get to see all weekend and it's as good as over before the 2nd quarter :(
Though you can always count on the Texans to shit themselves.
The Texans are always a team that just pass me by, even when they have a good record like this year. I can only think of one game in the past 2 seasons that impressed me (@ Seahawks last season), and that takes some doing when you have Hopkins at WR.
Watson will never be a proper NFL QB anyway. Lots of flashes and lots of fuck-ups.
Brett Kollman will be absolutely seething right now.
EDIT: Yup.
Big men doing things
Did we mention Brent Grimes getting pissy because he wasn't thought he getting paid enough to have to follow a WR?
:D
:D We'll have Miko signing up any second now you've posted that.
Can't believe how rubbish this Texans defense is. It's like watching the Packers.
How do they miss that facemask?
I think Watson could have run for that.

That was a fumble but at least it gives a bit of excitement to the game.
Definitely a pity ruling from the refs, the ball is loose some way before it breaks the plane. They have to keep those TV numbers up for the 4th quarter I guess.
Rosas over Tucker, THAT'S A GOOD JOKE MATE.
Tucker's past it. 4 missed FGs AND a missed PAT? Sack him off.
Mahow right now:
https://i.gyazo.com/6699005a761ced7d...c6e0b01efb.png
Salty wankers.
Texans are taking so fucking long, they need to quicken it up or they've got absolutely no chance.
Guess we're beating the Patriots next week then.
That was about as shit a start to the playoffs that could have happened.
Chiefs defence is too shit to win a playoff game.
Irsay attempting to dance :D
That Hurns injury
Absolutely destroyed his ankle there.
Was thinking about watching this all but fuck me it's shit.
There's been nothing good about it.
Fully deserved to lose that, can't complain.
What was that onside about at the end?
FUCK. A missed chance for this young team to progress. Oh well,i guess you can't teach an old dog(Carroll) new tricks.
Yeah, glad I fell asleep before that one :D
We've got another cornerback with a first round name in the 2019 draft class - Hamp Cheevers of Boston College
I quite enjoyed it. Way better than the first game.
Excellent start by Baltimore.
:face:
Probably going to miss most of the first half as we’re taking our tree down :moop: Has it just been a load of fumbles & pressures given up so far, as the play log would suggest?
I thought it kicked off at 6:40, argh.
As a Ravens fan that's probably not a bad thing.
3 fumbles in the opening 8 snaps for the Ravens, but it's still only 6-0. Not the worst outcome all things considered.
That bad? Wow.
Interesting to hear that Badgely was struggling with the wind at the other end of the pitch, could be key in the second half.
At least we've backed them up.
Edit: :moop:
Baltimore have been a shambles by the sounds of it. Lucky they have a defence that can cover for it.
Yeah, we're a mess on offence right now.
They can't run for shit on us.
*Long run imminent now ofc.
Derwin getting chatty
Jackson looks nervous as fuck.
Every throw is fucking shit.
Are you alright Mahow?
Ravens shitting it?
Aldrick Rosas would've got off that block & made the tackle.
What a shit field goal :D
That might be the shot in the arm that we needed.
Great block by Za'Darius.
Had that gone in, I'd have turned to Flacco.
As it is we might as well give Jackson one more possession.
Chargers have done well in shutting down the run game and Lamar looks so fucking nervous when passing right now that it's not great. The blocked field goal might lift him though.
This Chargers offence is looking super conservative. It's like they're trying to lose. Standard Chargers.
The kick was still shit though despite the block.
Jackson getting sacks I see :sherlock:
Hurst gives up two sacks in a row.
Cock.
I mean, Ingram destroyed him on the second one, but that's more a good move. The first one was less good.
Yeah, you'd struggle to find a guard that could deal with that Ingram move.
He got absolutely bullied for the first one, he can't let someone push him back that easily.
Anyway, I think Flacco should come in now.
YES LADS, YES.
We need to fucking capitalise now motherfuckers.
Peanut fucking loves going against the Chargers.
The Patriots must be laughing their ass off over this game.
Can we put the Ravens defence through on their own?
Jackson getting booed off the fucking field.
Start Flacco Mahow.
Peanut is everywhere.
He's such a good player.
Come the fuck on lads now.
We can fucking do this.
This is a weird game :D
That holding call :D
I thought he had that.
Great stiff arm by Loomar.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck :(
Time to get another kicker?
Is Tucker RATTLED?
Rosas looking pretty good right about now. :D
I honestly don't know why we didn't go for that.
Yeah you'd expect Tucker to make that and would only have us down by 6 but it was a 4th and 1 in Chargers territory. I'm sure we could have gotten it and could have led to a TD.
Justin Tucker definitely a number one fantasy draft pick Mahow :chief:
Fucking hell, the Chargers look to have been inspired by the Seahawks' offensive playcalling yesterday. It's excruciatingly passive.
EDIT: Look at that, they actually try to move the ball more than two yards & they start getting some success!
That looked nearly in :D
Someone check on Mahow.
He's in, it's over.
Refs want us to win...
Gordon :harold:
Nah, he's down.
This is just the worst.
Again though, why do the blow the whistle so quick?
Fucking brilliant
If that was a Texans TD yesterday, Gordon is definitely down by contact.
He was down by contact, Weddle got his ankles.
:D
Amazing.
Guys, Tyrell Williams is shit and not Mike Williams.
He needs to be covered.
Chargers
Fucking scenes if this turns out to be a Chargers-Rams Super Bowl.
Get Flacco in, we need to fucking pass and Loomar can't do it.
Why is he rushing? :D
I'm surprised the crowd haven't invaded the pitch yet.
That drive
This is amazing.
Bring in Flacco and let him throw a pick 6 to cap it off.
Loomar better be spending all offseason working on his passing, or the Ravens will be fucked next year.
Rivers first down celebration :D
Old man bowl warm up next week then.
'mon Rivers and the road warriors.
He's really bad at sensing pressure too.
Well that was a good pass.
Sshhhiiittttt.....
Wait, you can throw the ball in the air to people?
Surprised you didn't go for two Mahow :sherlock:
I just heard Stone Cold's theme tune, that's cheered me up a bit.
Why did Andrews step out when he could clearly have got a first there (not that it mattered)?
Mahomes-esque that.
Ravens have woken up.
:D
What a play.
It's the hope that kills you.
Well then :D
Also, Crabtree was in.
One drive to win it...
Someone shut up whoever that is screaming on the broadcast. Fucking irritating.
This is mental.
Ah.
Amazing :D
Well shit :(
:D :D :D It's the hope that kills you.
What a way to end it.
Kind of poetic that it finished as it started I guess...
We were only in it because of our defence and them not taking advantage of all our fuck ups.
Jackson is so bad. They really need to draft a QB and use him to return punts or something.
That game was way closer in the score line than it should have been.
Chargers just kind of gave up in the 4th. That Lamar completion where he lofted it up was wild, Darwin James really should've picked that, just seemed to jump really early.
Flacco sitting there ignoring Lamar the entire game (and season?) was great.
Rivers sounds like he smokes 60 a day.
If the Bears win the whole thing it'll finally top the 2000 Ravens for a defense carrying a QB to a Superbowl.
Not even close.
Broncos under Mannings last season was a mess on offence.
He might actually need to be carried now
That is dreadful from Foles.
No way that interception stands.
A fumble with no recovery :D
How was that not a completed pass, fumble and then no recovery?
Refs are fucking shit.
Maddox is getting fisted.
It took them this long to expose our weakness. Done well to contain this far but I think that's us done. Need last year's Foles back for this.
Foles :uhoh:
I thought he got that in but I think the refs were right.
Trubisky
Parkey you fucking shithouse.
Good lord he hit the post again.
We live to shit it up another day!
Post AND bar.
They should have cut him after that Lions game when he hit the post 4 times.
Fuck "da" Bears
When we get Dallas v Philly in the NFC championship game
Natty tonight @Foe :alan:
Might watch it live even though I have work tomorrow. Should probably try to nap before but I won’t.
College football needs a Game Pass.
100%. I’d happily pay to get condensed games & all-22 film.
I'd happily pay just to see games. When I could get NASN (as it was called then) I used to watch way more college than NFL.
Haskins has declared. Byron Murphy (CB, Washington, probable first rounder) & David Montgomery (RB, Iowa State, top three back in the class & likely second rounder) too, and Tyree Jackson (QB, Buffalo) has decided to fuck off his plan to transfer & has declared instead.
The fuck?
Wiki updated and all. I remember watching him play in college :(
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_LaFleur
EDIT: Actually no, I'm thinking of Matt Mauck.
.
Interesting. He's moved up pretty quickly, but I guess that's what happens when you can put Sean McVay & Kyle Shanahan on your references at a time when everyone's trying to get the next Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan.
On the other side of things, Mariota's going to have had four different OCs before the end of his rookie deal. No wonder he's barely developed.
And of course I've been trying not to fall asleep for the last hour, having failed to nap earlier :moop: 11pm coffee has failed, so I guess it's time to get on the sugar.
God, I fucking hate anthem time.
Oh shit
This could be a cracker going by the first three minutes. I was just about to say Clemson's offence has looked iffy so far, then they get a big chunk & convert on the next play. 21pts in less than five game minutes :cab:
Okay, so here are all the potential top 50 selections playing in this game.
2019
Quinnen Williams, DT
Raekwon Davis, DT
Joshua Jacobs, RB
Damien Harris, RB
Irv Smith, TE
Deionte Thompson, S
Jonah Williams, LT
Christian Wilkins, DT
Clelin Ferrell, EDGE
Trayvon Mullen, CB
2020
Tua Tagovailoa, QB
Najee Harris, RB
Mack Wilson, LB
Jerry Jeudy, WR
Dylan Moses, LB
Devonta Smith, WR
Henry Ruggs, WR
Tee Higgins, WR
Travis Etienne, RB
Isaiah Simmons, S
2021
Jaylen Waddle, WR
Patrick Surtain, CB
Trevor Lawrence, QB
Justyn Ross, WR
Xavier Thomas, EDGE
And that's a fairly conservative list.
Josh Jacobs is a stud - bangs ahead for a short fourth down conversion from the wildcat twice, then jukes a defender out of his shoes a few plays after the second one.
Shame Tua chucked one up to Trayvon Mullen afterwards, mind.
EDIT: Anfernee Jennings is the new JJ Swat. Two batted passes already, and I think they said earlier he has 11 this season :cab:
Look at this. What scenes  You know 'bama are going to come out pissed in the second half though.
And still more scenes before the half:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DwWxt6aX4AAwiGU.jpg
Matt Miller will be wanking himself silly over Trayvon Mullen having a pick & a sack already.
Look at Trevor Lawrence's arm - slung that miles out of bounds & barely looked to try. He's just strolling his way through this game as well.
What a compelling first half of football that was. And now, Imagine Dragons sound like shit featuring Little Wayne, who also sounds like shit, and is dressed like this.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DwW3-uEX4AE61NK.jpg:large
I'd have rather had an entire show consisting of 'different' renditions of Star Spangled Banner.
I stuck this school sports day on about ten minutes ago and immediately I've got Dabo fucking Swinney on my screen being full of shit.
I watched the 'Hawaii Bowl' a couple of weeks ago, in which an edge rusher named Jaylon Ferguson broke Terrell Suggs' college sack record and generally looked very good throughout. I looked him up afterwards and several draft predictor chappies were saying he'll be lucky to get drafted at all, and doesn't have what it takes to be an NFL player. That seems mad.
I know the college and pro games aren't the same, but surely someone breaking records in one is at least worth a serious look in the other?
He'll get drafted, but probably on day three. He plays in Conference USA, which is trash, as you can see by their schedule, so that's probably made it easy for people to doubt him. He's been consistently productive all four seasons though, and got 2 sacks against the only good team he played all season (Mississippi State) so someone will give him a shot. I'd imagine he'll be on the all star circuit too (can't remember if he's at the Senior Bowl or not), which will help him.
I've been watching Daniel Jones, the Duke QB who some people have talked up as a first rounder, and I just don't see it. He's got some size, he can run a bit, and he's done some pro-type stuff, but his arm isn't anything special, he puts too much air under the ball a lot of the time, he's not that great under pressure & he has Alex Smith Syndrome - I saw him throw a 1yd drag route on a 3rd & 9 against Miami & he still didn't hit the receiver in stride. He's okay, but I'm not sure he's going to be anything special - probably in the Keenum, Dalton, Smith tier. I'd say third round seems fair.
EDIT: That fake FG from 'bama :harold:
OOOOHHH SHIIIIIIIITTTT :alan: Justyn Ross just killed Saivion Smith, and Deionte Thompson has not been having his finest game today.
I know nothing about the organisation of the college game, other than that the players don't get paid which is a shambles, so I take less than nothing from that link.
He beat up on guys who will be working at Burger King next summer, basically. If you take out Mississippi State there are probably 10 NFL players on all the other teams they played combined. The level of dominance he had will get him a look, though, especially if he has a good run to the draft.
Scratch that, he's already a stud.
EDIT: And I may have cursed him :D
Nope, still a beast.
We have two more years of Lawrence throwing to Ross :uhoh:
This is just unreal. Have we ever seen Alabama get completely crushed before?
So he's essentially compiled a good goalscoring record over a few years in League Two but those draft guys are correct not to be telling Harry Kane to watch his arse?
For future reference, and I said this earlier in the thread, I'm a Browns man. From my limited draft prospect awareness I want them to take N'Keal Harry in the first, but beyond that I know fuck all.
Yeah, that's about right :D
I have family in Cleveland, so they're my second team. I like N'Keal Harry, and I think I've seen that pick suggested once or twice, actually. They could use an offensive tackle & a cornerback as well. CB is probably the position with the least talent this year, but O-line is solid & WR is really deep, so they can probably go about it in any order depending on who falls to them in the first round.
This is just an all time great performance from Clemson.
EDIT: Bama have given up & sent Jalen Hurts in. They've been dominated so much that NICK SABAN has waved the white flag.
This is my first year being interested in the sport, beyond the hilarious names it throws up and the occasional YouTube clip of some outrageous athleticism.
I picked the Browns before the season because they'd been the worst two years running. I reckon if you're getting into a new sport and want or need to pick a team, you should always take the team at the bottom of the pile.
As it turns out, though, I've taken a team with serious promise.
Yeah, if you'd got in two years earlier the Browns probably would've been bad enough to put you off the NFL altogether.
Nah, I got interested in the sport thanks to a mate, so I was already on board with the sport as a whole before I picked my team.
As it turns out, I've chosen the team with the second brightest future in the league, with only the Chiefs and that mad prick they've plonked in at QB as a more obviously promising side. Baker, Njoku, Garrett, and Ward all look like they have the potential to be number one players in their positions.
Clemson were so fucking good there. Recorded it and watched it today and my god that was satisfying.
Trevor Lawrence and justyn Ross have two more years together. Two more years.
The clemson defence just donned it. Bama just gave up. What a great sight.
Also, I bloody love Maria Taylor.
Yeah, you get one or two a year from the tiny schools. Nasir Adderley, a safety from Delaware, is another one to look out for this year - he's got a growing number of draft guys tipping him as a serious player, and I've seen him projected as a first rounder more than once.
Sounds like we're getting Bruce Arians to the Bucs & Kliff Kingsbury to the Cardinals. Both should be good moves for their offences. Meanwhile, the Broncos are picking between Vic Fangio & Mike Munchak.
That's some jump for Kingsbury.
We need him.
Yeah, spotted he was at USC and thought it was a really odd move. This ones even weirder, but hey ho. Maybe they want him to mould Rosen into a mahomes he had at texas tech.
You mean the Mahomes he couldn't win with? Also had Baker & chose Davis Webb instead, so 'good judge of talent' might not be the first line of his resume.
Still, he should scheme up something interesting for Josh Rosen & whatever the fuck else they manage to scrape together to make an offence,
It's Arizona. They don't win anyway.
Might as well try the air raid. Remember that machines vs baker battle that lasted hours... ?
I like that Mahomes got autocorrected to machines there.
Bucs had to trade Arizona for Bruce Arians as they still owned his rights :D Sixth for a seventh, so nothing actually significant, but still. They’ve also got Byron Leftwich & Todd Bowles in as co-ordinators to continue the reunion.
Falcons have given Dirk Koetter their OC role. Kingsbury has been confirmed in Arizona, and apparently the Browns are down to Freddie Kitchens & Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski.
EDIT: It's Kitchens in Cleveland, who've got rid of Gregg Williams, & Fangio in Denver, who have hired Gary Kubiak as OC. Also talk that Todd Bowles hasn't actually finalised a deal with Tampa Bay, and is in talks to take over as the DC in Chicago.
Tre Lamar, Dexter Lawrence & Trayvon Mullen have all declared from Clemson, as has Oklahoma OT Bobby Evans. I did wonder if the suspension would be enough for Dexter to go back to school, but he should still be fine.
I've been watching Daniel Jones recently & I've come to two conclusions:
- Dude is not a first round QB - his accuracy isn't spectacular, his arm's nothing special, he throws short of the sticks on third down all the time & he's the least athletic 'mobile' QB you can imagine.
- Motherfucker has THE WORST receivers I have ever seen - must be ten catchable passes dropped every game. He's not putting them all in perfect spots, but NFL guys would be expected to catch them all. TE Daniel Helm is the only guy with two functioning hands on the entire team.
Gase to NY. McCarthy must be sickened.
Vance Joseph & Dowell Loggains likely to be the co-ordinators
It’s becoming a serious possibility that Kyler Murray is going to declare
The Baylor guy apparently turned them down as he wouldn't have been allowed pick his own staff.
This Murray lad sounds like a complete fuck about merchant. Could you really risk a first overall pick in him (like Kingsbury said he would), or any high pick, when he could easily fuck off to baseball anyway?
Really he'd be 'fucking off' to the NFL. He's already been drafted in baseball, and he's already received a five million signing bonus. It's an interesting situation. If he does go to the NFL the baseball team that drafted him with the ninth overall pick get nothing.
The comparison for him is Russell Wilson. He actually played in a baseball game last year for the Yankees.
Brandon Mebane's daughter has died.
"She passed away Jan. 3," Mebane told reporters, per the Chargers' website. "She wasn't getting better so we had to make a decision. She kept having bleeds from the stomach, and then when they tried to feed her, it wasn't good for her liver."
:(
Well that sucks :(
In lighter news, Alabama DT Raekwon Davis has, surprisingly, decided to go back to college.
We've removed Mornhinweg as OC, Greg Roman has taken his spot.
Deionte Thompson going back as well. Quinnen Williams is gone though, as are Jonah Williams, Irv Smith Jr & Josh Jacobs
Still waiting on official Kyler news, but at this point they should probably be calling a press conference for an hour before the deadline to declare.
Ohio State QB Tate Martell is looking to transfer now they’ve picked up Justin Fields. He & Jalen Hurts are probably the two most interesting guys up for grabs.
The Denver coaching situation sounds.... interesting? :uhoh:
Fangio basically giving up the offense altogether to Kubiak (should be a 'yay', in principle ) and Elway (a 'hmm' at best) outside the basic overall coaching stuff doesn't sound ideal but this defence still had potential to be shit hot with a signing or two in the right spots so fingers crossed.
Is Kubiak not doing it now?
Yeah, I mentioned him and Elway. Kubiak will be calling the plays but I've read a few things talking about Elway's involvement. Which is a concern given as time has gone on it seems his best moves were "sign a hall of fame quarterback " and "let an amazing DC work with an àmazing defense." Which has him a Super Bowl, fair play, but it's not exactly sustainable.
Yeah, he was OC for about two days then changed his mind. Broncos were after the 49ers QB coach to replace him but weren’t allowed to interview him.
Out of those two, he's not the one you'd want going.
If Elway is this controlling about the offensive stuff and it all goes tits up then he must be gone next year.
You'd think. :moop:
As time goes on the more it looks like all the non-Manning stuff about the team in that first year or two was just happy coincidence rather than the grand plan he was managing to make it look like.
That'll be interesting.
https://pitchfork.com/news/faith-no-...-nfl-playoffs/
I'm going for Colts, Chargers, Rams and Saints this week.
Pats don't look anywhere near as scary as they usually are (usually means they go on to win the fucking thing but still) and Chiefs don't have a defence for playoff football.
Gurley will steamroll the Cowboys and Eagles will finally shit themselves out of it.
I'm just hoping for us to put up a fight. This recovery has been very encouraging despite mass injuries. I'm slightly worried how we perform better as a team under Foles than Wentz though.
I want Mahow's picks to be correct, but I can't help feeling the Patriots will do what they always do, Philly will step up, Dallas will shit their way to a 17-14 win & KC will win a shootout.
Hope:
Kansas City
Dallas
LA Chargers
New Orleans
Reckon:
Indianapolis
LA Rams
LA Chargers
New Orleans
Please make it last
There's fuck all on the pitch :(
Ebron :face:
That run was great.
This isn't looking good for everyone who's jumped on the Colts bandwagon lately.
Colts look rancid.
Now they know how Houston must have felt last week.
Yeah. If the colts defence haven't realised ball in hills hands running at speed is a bad thing it's going to be a long ride.
Big possession here. If the Chiefs march and score again the colts could crumble.
Should probably try plugging the middle on 4th and 1's too.
Mahomes doesn't look good on that knee.
He'll probably be fine by the time they come back on the field, or by the second half at worst. Colts really need it to be something that takes away his mobility for the rest of the game though.
Game on.
Nice of the Chiefs to part like that for Goode.
Well that's what we needed to get something going (except KC will probably go up & score a TD now)
Was that 'So Long Astoria' by The Ataris on the cutaway?
Hill and Kelce are ripping this defence.
Did Mahomes just use a 'Hellen Keller' call?
That's shameful, really. I know the Colts basically just play zone, but surely you have to gameplan to take at least one of them away?
If Sammy Watkins & the run game beat you that fine, but not the two players that make up like half of their total offence. It's like playing the Saints & letting Thomas & Kamara beat you.
Old prick.
A little bit early to start lolling, but Vinateri hitting the post was quite funny.
If Kansas score on their first possession back that should be the game.
Colts have just completely bottled this. Can't even get a fourth down stop without a penalty.
Giving it the full Val Venis at the referee :D
Leonard with the fumble \0/.
This HAS to be a TD, and the Colts defence HAS to force a quick punt on their next series.
EDIT: Well, it wasn't either of those. GG Indy
What's the fucking point?
Dee Ford is going to get some good money this offseason.
Sounds like we're going to have two more Alabama declarations too - CB Saivion Smith (the guy Justyn Ross killed on his long TD) has officially declared, and Deionte Thompson (the guy Justyn Ross ran then straight by on the same play) is unofficially expected.
Thompson should be a first rounder, despite a shaky run in the playoffs, and Smith will likely be a mid-round guy, but it's reassuring to hear him declare as it must mean his injury wasn't serious.
Tyree Jackson added to the Senior Bowl roster as well, which should be interesting. He's 6' 7" with a monster arm, but he played for Buffalo so it'll be interesting to see him against a full team of good college players.
Have we just witnessed the end of Adam Vinatieri? This would be a one score game if he'd made both those kicks.
That was a really cool idea at an onside.
That running into the kicker penalty is 100% lol, not that it really makes much difference to the outcome of the game.
3 total possessions, 3 total TD's.
Yeah. Not been great defence here.
That Patriots td wa as td from the snap. An absolutely massive hole on the line.
Pats are on fire.
Chargers gon' Charger
They just seem to know when to peak.
3 possessions on offence. 21 points.
That's not a good omen to winning at Gillette.
Pats going to Arrowhead like this is going to be some game.
Fucking hell.
They're in machine mode tonight.
This weekend has been a complete letdown so far.
Saints-Eagles is needs to be an absolute classic.
A punt? They've turned to fucking shit.
The Packers could regret knocking back McDaniels.
well this game is shit
That replay from the field makes it look like he went over the ball and didn't control it.
Does Jim Nantz not make you all want to slit your wrists? I know him from golf where he is the most sycophantic saccharine twat in the business, I just put this on and I'm pretty sure that's his voice again.
It is.
He's not as bad as Al Michaels, Collinsworth and a couple of others though.
Troy Aikman is by far the worst though.
I have yet to sit through a whole game in which he has commentated.
Collinsworth. Now there's a guy.
I don't really think there's a single commentator for NFL that I enjoy listening to. Even Romo has gotten kinda full of himself after the initial "oMg hE rEalLy kNoWs FoOtBaLL" thing took off on social media.
Whoever it is, just be glad they're not Kevin Harlan.
There's a good reason for a power nap during the Superbowl anyway.
I know it's the way things are now, but is anybody going to bother to play defence in the playoffs or is that officially no longer a thing?
Makes for such shit games.
Was really hoping that unblocked edge rusher that made it to Brady was just going to full helmet kill him when he got it out to Gronk, but absent a flag I guess he didn't.
Eight kids? Try a condom, Phil.
If I was rich I'd have like 15 kids fuck that, why not?
Might make them less of spoiled little brats if they know daddy's riches will get split 15 ways and they might actually have to work a little bit.
If I was rich I'd have exactly the same amount as I have now.
If you were rich enough to raise fifteen children in comfort you'd be rich enough that splitting your cash fifteen ways would still mean retirement money for each of them. The proceeds from the sale of your sixteen bedroom house alone would set them up for life.
'Rich enough' or just live in Morcombe?
Breesus :harold:
Fucking hell Game Pass is brutally behind, you could barely call it 'live'. Game hasn't even kicked off on it.
The worked out well for the Saints.
Especially as Graham never had that.
Damn we did not need that.
21-0 would have been hard to come back from. 14-7 could be coming up shortly.
I was questioning why they wouldn't go for it there but then they did.
I could have told the Eagles that was happening.
Our defence is losing players every other drive. Not a chance we keep this going all game.
Fucks sake. It was nice whilst it lasted.
Doesn't count but that was a nice pass by Hill.
Well it was good while it lasted but there's only one winner from here and I really need to be in work for 7.
I see the real reason that Murray lads 'heart is with football' now. He's hitting the A's up for another $15m to stay with baseball :D
When you think it might be game on and then that happens.
Well, fuck. :(
At least we got one close game this weekend.
Those first couple of drives for both teams were about as bad for the Saints as they could've been, but - as we're going to hear a thousand times - the fake punt got some momentum going & from then on Michael Thomas just started rolling. Sheldon Rankins going out with an ACL injury is a big blow, but the run defence was still strong & we remembered how to cover for the final three quarters.
Definitely need to consider getting replacements for Andrus Peat & PJ Williams this year - Peat's versatility is huge, especially as Terron Armstead gets hurt all the time, but he's clearly the weak link among the starters, and PJ Williams just isn't that good & never has been. I know Patrick Robinson is our slot guy when he's healthy, but it'd be nice to have a better option that PJ as the alternative.
We came out and started on fire. I said at the time not getting that extra score to take it to 21-0 whilst we were well on top, was pivotal. I don't think any team would come back on us from that far back.
In the end the effort to get this far with the back ups to our back ups playing in the back 4 was amazing. We also managed it without a decent RB really.
It's going to be an off season of difficult decisions now. We have to make a decision on Foles. It's more than likely time he is to be traded away. Given how he's gone in the last 2 seasons we'll likely get some good draft capital for him. Maybe even a first(hello Oakland). That's going to be hard to turn down. But my problem with this is two fold.
Firstly I think our style is much more suited to having Foles in over Wentz, but second, this is the 2nd straight season now Wentz has been unavailable for play-off time. Shows us we really ought to have a good back-up guy.
Top two linebackers in the class Devin White & Mack Wilson in, along with the second Iowa TE TJ Hockenson.
Still not seen anything official from Kyler, but he’s probably sitting watching the A’s roll wheelbarrows full of money to his door.
Kyler is entering the draft. With all his fucking about I hope he falls pretty far down the rounds then gets flattened in his first game. He seems like a proper little shithouse.
I don't know what he's thinking.
He has the physique of a teenager and will get mullered.
You'd need the greatest o-line of all time and tell him to never leave the pocket.
Wasn't going to watch him until he declared, so hopefully people will start throwing up cutups over the next few days, but just watching some of his game highlights:
- He's actually very good at protecting himself. I watched a couple of games & saw him run several times but he never took a big hit - only took contact on designed runs, when he scrambled he was always sliding or getting out of bounds. He's seriously fast too. Not Loomar fast, but 4.4 fast, and he's got great balance & change of direction. Might actually be a better open field runner than Jackson
- Kid has a big ol' arm for someone built like a thirteen year old. Can drive it to the sideline from the far hash & it'll scream there - not watched Haskins but he's up there with Drew Lock for strongest arm in the class. He's also got the baseball background that has helped out guys like Mahomes & Wilson when it comes to making all those crazy throws at weird angles.
- Accuracy is pretty good at all levels, although he is playing on a great team in the Big 10 where there are about four draftable defenders in the entire conference, so maybe that had something to do with it. Then again, that's what people said about Baker.
- CeeDee Lamb is a stud, and the 2020 WR class (along with most other parts of the class) is looking obscene.
Definitely more impressed with him than I expected to be. Not sure whether I'd actually give him a first round grade, but he'll go there - he's better than Loomar for sure, it's literally only the size that's the issue. If he was three inches taller he'd be a top 5 pick & nobody would question it. You just don't know how long his body will hold up if he does take some hits, and whether if that happens he'll suddenly start fancying baseball again.
I don't know if he will go in the first round.
He's shorter than Wilson (by 2 inches) and he dropped to round 3 because of issues regarding his height.
He probably has small hands so when that measurement is taken people will freak out.
Isn't the fact that Wilson has been successful despite the height a positive though? I don't think Kyler slides as far as Wilson did for the same reason. Wilson also didn't win a heisman though, did he?
I'd rather have kyler than Lamar. Watching kyler at Oklahoma you had faith he'd fine a receiver if required. The thing that will get him is the risk he flies off to another sport.
All the ‘he might go first overall’ sources were out before he declared, now immediately everyone’s sources are saying ‘second or third round’ :sherlock:
I think it’s going to hang on how well he interviews & how much he participates in the offseason stuff like the combine compared to baseball stuff.
From what I've read he's not that good at baseball anyway (although it's hard to project) and the route to the top is far harder in baseball than it is in football, so he's as well taking the helmetball dollar and if he crashes and burns he can always do a Tim Tebow, who I was shocked to see rocking up in double A for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and actually posting some half reasonable numbers.
The As drafting him first round to start with was weird, think Billy Beane has been on the sauce or something.
Trubisky started 13 games in college & went second overall. Quinnen Williams has played about as many games & will probably go top five.
Mayfield played in the exact same offence last season & balled out in the NFL, and Mahomes played better in the NFL than he did in college.
If teams want to take him early they can find a way to deflect any concerns. Baker going first overall last year & playing like he did might have knocked (some of) the doors down for short QBs too, especially for teams with creative offensive staff that can build a scheme around them.
EDIT: Brandon Wimbush transferring to UCF for next season. They’re fucked. Guarantee they’ll lose at least three games next year.
:uhoh:
The Colts dumping their O-Line coach is an odd one.
"DeGuglielmo was the only offensive coach hired before Josh McDaniels turned his back on the Colts' job. Reich wants to bring in his own guy, per Garafolo."
I never understand this bullshit. He was good, who cares if he wasn't 'your guy'.
Cause presumably you have a buddy you came up with in the coaching ranks that you want to try and help given your new position.
Plus, you have a general idea of what that person is thinking, their work ethic, etc. etc.
Rather bring in a guy who you know is going to fall in line with your ideas on how to run that unit rather than clash over simple shit and then create some kinda issue. Nevermind they're largely an unknown to you otherwise.
At least, that's my line of thinking.
Turning the Colts O-Line from one of the worst to one of the best probably should see you hang on to your job ahead of a yes man.
I mean I see what you're saying but think of it like you're doing a group project at school.
Would you rather work with someone you know and have worked with before, assuming you think that person can do a good job? Or, someone you don't know entirely, how you mesh together, etc.?
Though I do appreciate that the guy in question did a great job, I can at least follow the logic in wanting to bring in your own guy to some extent, whether that works for them or not is the gamble.
You almost hope their line turns to shit again next season. Must have been some differences of opinion between them, surely? Getting rid of the guy if you got on well & he did that good of a job is insane, regardless of whether you’ve got a mate who can step in or not.
Apparently he's a massive prick, whether that played into it or not.
It would make sense at least.
Speaking of people who seem like pricks, Ohio State QB Tate Martell - the one from the first season of QB 1 on Netflix who’s always looking in the mirror - has transferred to Miami after Justin Fields showed up, having copped a strop to a reporter in their bowl game.
Committed to Washington & Texas A&M before signing with Ohio State, which probably should’ve given a clue about his loyalty.
He probably will start for Miami, since (a) Rosier & Perry have both proven themselves to be shit; and (b) I don’t believe he’d go anywhere that wouldn’t have guaranteed him the job, so he’s going to have to prove he’s got the talent to back up the attitude.
He crushed high school, to be fair, so he’s got something, it’s just whether he can translate that to college & win with his arm & brain rather than his legs.
DeGuglielmo has done a good job with the Colts OL, but they have got some top talent in there too now, 3 first rounders in the line all playing well so I'd back Reich to bring in someone equally competent.
Also read that DeGuglielmo basically froze out Denzelle Good, called him "a failure" and "disrespectful to him" because he left the team for a few days as his brother was murdered. :moop: Good apparently didn't play another down for the Colts and asked to be cut, and he's now at the Raiders.
That’s pretty bad if true. Definitely makes sense to get rid of him if that’s the type of guy he is, regardless of who well he coached the line.
As a huge Miami guy I can only pray. I haven't seen QB1, though, but two of his teammates (including one that just transferred from USC) play here as well so maybe that'll help him stay grounded.
Ohio State people were all saying "good riddance" to the drama so that's a bit worrying but we need all the help we can get at QB. Rosier is gone, thank God, Perry is still young and has some potential but is a bit of a knucklehead himself, and we don't have a QB committed in the 2019 class as of now, so...
Hiring Alabama's OC has supposedly put us on the map with a couple QB prospects but we'll see. Getting Jalen Hurts as well in the 'transfer portal' would do a lot to help this problem but I think he goes to Oklahoma or Maryland (where the OC he actually played under at Alabama went).
Forgot Rosier was a senior. He’ll do well to get drafted - I don’t think he’s even playing at the NFLPA Bowl this week :D
He’s definitely not at the Shrine Game, which is running this week. Sounds like Brett Rypien & Jordan Ta’amu have been doing well there, along with WRs Terry Godwin (Georgia) & Ryan Day (Auburn), and DTs Daniel Wise (Kansas) & Daylon Mack (Texas A&M).
Some small school guys showing up too - KeeSean Johnson (WR, Fresno State who was already a sleeper), BJ Blunt (LB, McNeese State) and Olisaemeka Udoh (OT, Elon) have all had some positive talk, even though I’m pretty sure those last two schools are made up.
Rosier would do lucky to make it to the Canadian league tbqh.
Jalen Hurts is off to Oklahoma.
Not sure Hurts will do as well as Baker & Kyler have there, but a strong season as a passer would be a huge boost to his draft stock, and it gives Oklahoma time to develop their incoming freshman Spencer Rattler.
I also forgot that Tate Martell will have to sit out for a year as he's transferred. I'd find it hilarious if Nkosi Perry ran away with the job this year & then beat him out after he'd spent a year on the sidelines :D
Panthers are saying that they might sit Newton next season.
They can have Flacco or RGIII for a third rounder.
Imagine fields loses his appeal and he has to sit out at Ohio state too. :D
That's a seriously big set of shoes to fill in Oklahoma for hurts. But good if they run a similar system and sort of force him to pass. If he struggles he's not NFL calibre. If he improves and thrives his draft stock gets elevated. Win or bust.
Harbs has agreed an extension so a big trade offer would need to come in for him to leave.
Foles missed part of a drive in the last game of regular season to get an injury checked over, that caused him to miss a bonus incentive for $1m by 4 snaps. Eagles paid him it today anyway. Looks like trying to keep him sweet.
Going to try and stay up for the first game, doesn't kick off until 8.05pm annoyingly. Second game I'll record though.
Going to be tough avoiding the scores tomorrow. I also normally book off Super Bowl Monday, but this year I've got two damn important meetings that day so going to have to turn my phone off and pray nobody ruins it for me. Or break my sleeping cycle to watch it. Doable. But it would be painful.
I've Monday fortnight off but if I'd copped these were at such stupid times I'd have done this week too.
Butchering the anthem.
Amazing.
Is he a singer? I vaguely know the name but after that I hope he's an actor.
Jimmy fucking Buffett.
Pissing hell.
That anthem was so terrible it was brilliant. Mic drop too. That's going viral.
Chiefs and saints wins tonight please. :yn: a Rams win wouldn't be a disaster either. Just not another patriots Super Bowl appearance please.
Rams versus anyone but Patriots would be anyone's dream Super Bowl.
Apparently that dude is a musician.
If that's not a sign of the American dream, I don't know what is. Jesus.
He's a singer, here is his best selling single:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue2-ZVxpVjc
They reckon the Chiefs are going to renew Mahomes at the end of next season (the earliest they can) and make him the first $200m player. Fucking hell.
So Saints against the Chiefs because the Chiefs are the only ones other than the Patriots that can make it there...
I'm also surprised that Aikman even bothered turning up.
He must be seething that the Cowboys aren't here.
I want the Patriots to make it. Can't help but admire the machine.
Right at him :D
Gurley :harold:
Well the first 5 minutes or so have been lol so far.
Rams offense look fucking terrible.
Brockers is an idiot.
4th down you don't jump early.
Only his second ever catch.
I hate that fucking song in the ad for the shit iPhone.
Hekker is actually a decent passer.
Gurley is catching like his rookie year.
The anthem was class, best version ever.
Amateur hour from the Saints on that punt/pass play. They should have been well aware of the danger.
Now we're talking.
Shaping up nicely, especially if LA can score on the first possession of the second half. I think my prior dislike of them is somewhat misplaced.
Saints have become somewhat likeable for me because of Thomas and Kamara.
Brees can still fuck off though.
Saints are dangerous now, you can't let them get Kamara and Ingram going full swing.
Rams fucked up by not challenging that spot.
Worked out anyway.
Delighted I booked tomorrow off. I like the Saints but I'm glad this is looking competitive. Memory is hazy of details, but it feels like most playoff games have been blowouts this season.
Got a tenner on Saints Patriots superbowl which sorta reduces my desire for a tight game.
Giving Taysom Hill plays as a QB in an NFC championship game reminds me of playing 17 year old regens upfront in champions league finals 10 seasons into FM games when I'm bored and trying to make it more of a challenge.
They really should have gone for that.
Game over with that pass.
Well done McVay...
That's the game.
That really was such a bad call by McVay.
I'd rather be down by 3 but the ball be on the 1 yard line (or 4 up ofc) than tied against this Saints team but with them at the 25 or so.
Why fucking pass there? Just run it a bit as you're in field goal range and you take time off.
By not rushing on first down they've turned a pretty much guaranteed win into asking your defence to make a stop.
Oh and like fuck that's not interference.
It's a double penalty if anything.
He went way too early with the hit and it was helmet to helmet.
I would have said 100% before that no call.
I thought he pushed that wide for a second.
That took some swing in late.
Surfside mansions all round for the officiating crew if the Rams get over the line here.
Rams to win in OT please.
Just to see Payton losing his shit again
Loving the chorus of boos for the refs.
They missed a facemask on Goff before the Rams settled for 3 so they have nothing to moan about.
They've missed some holding calls for both teams too.
It's just a proper shit crew who don't want to throw flags.
Wild flag has appeared...
They've just made up for that one. Done their best anyway.
If Michael Thomas doesn't push him over than that's just incomplete.
This has the feel of the Minnesota miracle in reverse.
Shiiiiiiiit.
That was a fairly damp drive. Settling for a 57 yard kick?
:D
What a kick. Probably had another 20 yards on it.
lol.
Saints are going to be like Liverpool now.
Justice for the missed PI.
Packers pick 30th
They already have one of those campaigns.
I'm going to be so fucked tomorrow.
:moop:
Those missed flags were probably both bad calls, but we just don't have the edge to be able to finish out these games - two seasons in a row we've let it slip through our fingers when we should have won.
We need a new guard to send Andrus Peat to the bench, a TE who can actually be a dynamic receiver, a safety & another cornerback. Hopefully we can get one or two of those in free agency so we can be a bit more flexible in the draft, but we'll see.
I dearly want to watch the Chiefs game, but I can't justify it. I'll just have to try and avoid the result tomorrow (before obviously being torpedoed out of the blue by the first local radio NFL report ever or something at 5pm).
I'm disappointed with Sean Payton.
He should have shit all over the refs there and taken the fine. Instead he sounded like he might top himself.
Rams
Now for the Pats to lost tonight to set up the dream Super Bowl.
Not a chance the Patriots lose.
They're a machine in the playoffs (I was stupid to write them off last week) and the Chiefs don't have a defence.
I need to be up at 6am for work but I know I wont make it through the day without finding out the result so fuck it, I'm staying the course.
aye two of my work colleagues are chatting with me on fb about the games despite being in at 8.30 tomorrow.
one of them is hosting a super bowl party despite not being able to get the day off work. he's driving to r-town to pick me and my mate (who he's never met before) up at like 11pm, then is gonna drive us back home en route to work at 8am. what an absolute fucking hero.
This Chiefs D is just so soft.
The only good thing they have is their pass rush.
patriots are gonna fucking dick em aren't they
Chiefs are going to get pumped here.
Their rushing defence is embarrassing right now.
Yeah, this is rough.
On the upside, rather than just avoid the result tomorrow, I can simply avoid the NFL for the next 8 months or so.
Massive play
That makes things interesting.
They should have run it there though seeing as how good Michel has been.
Needed that.
As a pretty casual fan, ain't getting intercepted in the red zone pretty unforgivable? Especially leading 7-0 away from home in the championship game. Maybe it was a great defensive play but it feels like unnecessarily hazardous play.
Tell that to the Seahawks....
That's a great catch by White.
Is that game?
Stunning.
That's probably game, unless Mahomes improves about four hundred percent on that first half.
If I hadn't booked tomorrow off I'd be going to bed now. Hope it improves. Who got first possession in the first half? Can't remember.
Why would the Chiefs not use a TO there and at least try one of those eighty yard Mahomes to Hill rockets they've been doing all season?
All the talk about everything changing after the first month of the season & it's going to end with another Patriots SuperBowl
It's much higher percentage with those two than anyone else, and it's not like there's a huge risk of the Pats getting back up the field and scoring again with eight second or whatever it is left should they miss it.
Andy Reid bottling the Championship game? Well I never.
I didn't say it would be high, just higher than with others.
That's all fine, but surely when you're fourteen points down having not really got going, and you have what amounts to as close to a free hit as you'll get in this sport, even a one in a thousand shot, you take it.
quality.
Game on then.
Two really nice passes by Mahomes.
If Mahomes doesn't release almost immediately he isn't very good. His decision making when he has people coming at him is abysmal.
Long term I think both Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff will be better all round QBs.
Edelman :D
I genuinely can't tell if that touched him or not.
I don't think it did.
He's touched that at the moment it bounces with his fingertips. If not, then it's sailed through.
i think you have to stay with the onfield decision there, just cus it's impossible to call either way. nfl needs snicko
Yeah I don't see how you can change it.
Well it is the Patriots...
fucking patriots
If the rule says they need indisputable evidence to overturn a decision, it should have stood. I don't think he touched it, but it's far from conclusive so they've fucked that.
EDIT - Excellent. That's sorted it out.
Edelman to score now to rub it in.
Edelman tipping it for a pick :D
Justice I guess.
And clattering him for good measure.
Belichick is seething.
About ninety percent sure Belichik has called someone a 'fucking pussy' there. :D
There's a big fuck you drive coming up from the Pats here.
How the fuck is that roughing the passer? And why the fuck aren't KC challenging it?
You can't challenge a roughing the passer call.
Refs on the take.
You can't throw a challenge flag on a penalty, which is usually why the have a mothers meeting before awarding some.
You can challenge decisions, such as caught ball or spot of the ball. Sometimes overturning a call will wipe out a penalty though.
Patriots getting all the calls in a tight playoff game.
I've never seen this before.
Romo called that.
Completely untouched.
It's all gone quiet.
Time for Mahomes to show he deserves $200m
As if the refs are going to flag the Patriots on a fumble.
If the Pats don't win Belichick is going to eat this Jackson fella for dinner.
They've scored too early here. Brady to Gronk with 15 seconds left will win it for the Pats.
I think the Chiefs might have scored that a bit too quickly.
Lot of time on the clock for the Patriots.
I feel like they just let them score that one.
Here comes the Brady machine again.
They did exactly the same thing in the regular season meeting. Mahomes threw a one play touchdown then Brady just marched it down the park to win it with about twenty seconds left.
Not a catch at all.
That's never a catch.
I still think this ends with 5 seconds left and Mahomes having to hail mary it.
Gronk showing how shit he is.
Woof.
Gronk with his best catch of the year.
Chiefs can't stop the run for shit.
A lot of time for Mahomes though...
Chiefs completely bottled that whole drive. Stupid mistakes, penalties and receivers getting wide open. It was so inevitable that the Pats would get 7 there.
Mahomes is too inexperienced for this. They don't trust him to audible yet.
Brady/Bill are just too clutch in this situation.
38 of 62 points scored in the 4th quarter.
Chiefs better hope they get the ball first or they're done.
First time ever both Championship games have gone to OT.
Only second ever (last one was in 1986) OT in the AFC Championship game too which seems mental.
I think this is about to be very anti-climactic.
Gronkowski looks like something out of Deus Ex with that thing on his arm.
Rushing TD from the red zone time after time.
They just couldn't stop Edelman and Gronk on third down.
I just don't understand how the Chiefs let Edelman convert on 3rd using the exact same play from a minute earlier. The safeties were playing 20-25 yards deep and the middle linebackers had no chance in keeping stride with Edelman. They completely threw that game away after dragging themselves back into it in the 4th.
Fucking hell, I hope the Rams win. Patriots are so good but they're such cunts about it.
They threw the same play pretty much 3 times over on 3rd down.
The Achilles heel of the Chiefs shown for all to see. They need defensive help.
Yep, all on Rams.
I wouldn't be surprised if they change the overtime rules in the playoffs to something more akin to the college game. Just feels a bit anti-climatic that the opposition doesn't have a chance to answer back.
Dee Ford must feel sick after his offside penalty.
Great couple of games but I still feel irritated the Pats have won. Not sure it makes the lack of sleep worthwhile now.
This is how it all began back in the day too, Patriots Rams in 2002. Though the Rams were massive favourites that day.
Be a poetic way to bookend the whole era.
.
Not sure if I'll extend my season ticket or not, well I want a more central seat if I do.
Mexico gets Chiefs/Chargers & we get four shitters :D
Panthers/Bucs is the one I care the least about, horrible game.
Then it's the Bengals/Rams but at least I can shit on Dalton and see Gurley live.
Then get to see Mack (with hopefully a chip on his shoulder) live along with Hopkins.
But yeah, it's probably the worst selection yet.
All to go to OT :baz:
Raiders announcing one home game to soften the blow when they move the other 7 here too.
There was another one after that when the host brought up tigers and Baker said he owned a Bengal twice a year.
He really needs to let it go and stop being a dickhead.
Agreed. That's just kind of sad.
That was all very obviously scripted.
Predictably awful.
I know there were a million bad calls, but that face mask one which saved the Pats from a 4th and forever when they were down was the killer, although given that they converted on about 4 3rd and 10s in that final OT drive they'd probably have gone for it and somehow got it.
Feel the lack of Hunt really caught up with KC in the end. They had no run game and it put too much pressure on Mahomes to constantly deliver.
I fucking despise Edelman and really wish he'd died (or, you know, something less severe) after being flattened on that interception play.
I love this thread because the worst officiating call of all time got like 3 posts and here it's literally all anyone can talk about lol
Because really it is swings and roundabouts - the Rams had a couple go against them earlier in the game. Particularly the facemask on Goff at the goalline, on a drive which resulted in 3 points rather than 7. If that's called correctly and the Rams punch it in, the game changes completely anyway.
You can’t expect most NFL fans to understand this. Most of the ones I see still think a missed kick at the end of the game means the entire result was the kickers fault and he should never play again, even if their QB chucked 3 pick sixes and the defense allowed a one legged RB to hop his way to 200 yards.
Yeah, I'm totally fine with nobody mentioning that game.
Senior Bowl practices start at 6pm if anyone wants to watch.
EDIT: They're even asking Gruden about the play in his Senior Bowl press conference :D
I mean, the officiating in both games was absolute trash, which is really disappointing.
For both the Chiefs and saints though it really does come down to themselves. The Chiefs offence didn't click at all and the defence just couldn't stop the patriots. The saints had plenty chances to ouch it in but they couldn't, and the Rams barely played their best player.
It's a lose lose form here though. If the Rams win it's controversy and a win with an asterisk to many. If the patriots win, the patriots win.
My least desirable super bowl. :moop:
All aboard LA.
They probably should do it as well, the bleeding obvious notwithstanding. They are well equipped to deal with the Pats. Well, until Belichick destroys Goff and or McVay's brains.
I've tried not to, but I just can't help wanting the Patriots to win.
I want the Rams to win but I'm sure Belichick will draw up something that confuses the shit out of Goff which will hamper the Rams.
Asterisk? Nobody will care about that in a fortnight other than Saints fans. It's just something to talk about to pad out two weeks until the game.
Nothing to worry about with a Rams win. I'm all aboard.
I admire the Patriots but like fuck am I bringing myself to want them to win.
Montez Sweat killed a man on the first practice session of the entire week. He's looked good so far, as has Daylon Mack. Deebo Samuel v Rock Ya-Sin was pretty fun in the WR/DB drills too.
I've seen Sweat mocked to Ravens by a few.
Would be great but I see us going guard or RB in the first round and unless we trade around we don't have a second rounder and he's gone by the third.
I'm sure if he puts in a good combine he's probably not even there when we pick in round 1.
The good thing is there are a bunch of EDGE guys who have been talked up as first rounders - Nick Bosa, Josh Allen & Clelin Ferrell are the surefire guys, with Brian Burns, Montez Sweat & Jachai Polite the others who usually make the list. Then you have small school guys like Jaylon Ferguson & Oshane Ximines who also get thrown in there occasionally, as well as a few guys who might end up as interior guys, Rashan Gary, Charles Omenihu & Zach Allen.
So yeah, there are plenty of edge rushers to go around. You're probably doing okay for all your main positions of need - RB, interior O-Line & WR should all have some good players still on the board in the third round at least.
An edge rusher and a MLB is right up there too.
Suggs doesn't have long left with Bowser and Williams not showing enough and Za'Darius Smith surely on his way out with a fat contract.
Mosley still hasn't agreed a deal so he could leave although I do think Peanut and Kenny Young are a fine duo with Chris Board and Bam Bradley looking like they could be our next UDFA MLB stars.
Watching the North practices & I'll tell you this much; Jaylen Smith (WR, Louisville) isn't getting drafted if he keeps on like today. Slow, not sure about his effort, literally put his hands out to complain about the coverage mid-rep one time, then actually managed to get some separation & dropped the ball. Pretty much the worst possible start to the week.
EDIT: Both Zach Allen & Charles Omenihu looked unspectacular in the OL/DL drills (although Charles did punk Michael Dieter), and given there was already talk of both having to move inside it seems to make a lot of sense. Not sure either will have a great shot on the edge if they can't even consistently beat some the Senior Bowl guys when the drill is weighted in their favour.
Greg Gaines looked good though - far more dynamic as a rusher than I was expecting for a guy who I'd only heard of as a run plugging DT.
--
Watching the South OL/DL again & I forgot how full on Carl Granderson was coming :D Dude was flat out the whole time & never stayed in one spot long enough for anyone to get hands on him. Andre Dillard looked good & showed why there are people talking him up as a first round tackle, and your boy Oli Udoh from Elon was pretty solid too, playing tackle & guard. He's going to get drafted for sure.
Chiefs have fired their DC.
Had Dee Ford not been offside he'd still have his job.
Larry's back with the Cardinals for another year
Also, PJ Williams got picked up for drink driving. Great way to celebrate a championship round loss.
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...ns-lawsuit-nfl
In the legal equivalent of a Hail Mary pass, two New Orleans Saints season ticket holders have asked a judge to reverse the result of the NFC championship game that sent the Los Angeles Rams to the Super Bowl, or order a replay.
Lol.
Senior Bowl practices are over, so here's a quick list of some winners & losers:
Winners

Losers

There are probably others too, but we'll see if anyone else stands out in the game tomorrow.
Nickel Roby-Coleman has been fined for the hit that never was.
Kris Boyd (CB, Texas) is so bad - three penalties in the first two drives of the Senior Bowl :D He's been like it all season too.
Hunter Renfrow, however  If we got Chris Lindstrom, Hunter Renfrow & Jordan Ta'amu I'd be very happy.
Standard overall looks weak enough.
Lock with the underhand throw
Overall talent level isn't the greatest - Deebo Samuel, Montez Sweat, Drew Lock & Daniel Jones are probably the only four who could go round one - but it's packed with mid-round guys who can play.
What are these stupid clock rules about?
I really hope hunter Renfrew makes it as a slot receiver in the NFL. He's such a likeable character and really, really solid as a catcher.
This on NFL network or sky?
I've seen Josh Jacobs mocked to us a fair bit.
What's he like Dan?
Beast.
Matt Miller & Daniel Jeremiah both fucking love him too - think DJ has him as the 5th best player in the whole class.
If we do get him I'd be so happy.
Sweat, Jacobs or Ford :yn:
Yeah, josh Jacobs was definitely under appreciated at Bama.
They tend to lean on the o line and big runners so your man Damien Harris was the lead.
Their #3 back from last year looked really nifty too. The lad from Ohio was it, that just wasn't recruited by anyone.
Daniel Jones has completely shit the bed this week.
EDIT: He gets the MVP award because he scored a goal-line rushing TD :D
God the pro bowl is on and it's pissing it down. Hardly anyone is there either. Fantastic.
It's already been cheapened enough by Mitchell Tubrisky being anywhere near it.
Why do they even bother with this?
I kind of got it when they went to Hawaii. It's a reward for the players and it shows Hawaii the NFL which is it so isolated from.
But Orlando? The players probably don't want to be there, the fans don't care, and it's not exactly paradise in January.
Either do it in Hawaii and treat it as a holiday or bin it and just give the guys the recognition they've been great and move on.
The senior bowl at least has competition because there's careers to be made. The pro bowl changes nothing for a player and is just another injury risk (that they try and remove by making it contactless effectively).
That pick from trubisky. :D
I'm astonished that you can put up with watching it.
I managed about 15 minutes of it roughly a decade ago and then stopped for fear of it giving me brain damage.
I'd cut him just for appearing in public looking like that.
Kyler out here just making the worst possible impression.
"I'm getting pretty good at answering, y'know, these questions" :D No, my dude, no you're not.
He's a fucking idiot.

Boselli not getting in means they might as well board the place up.
Philly came out and said they would be picking up Foles' $20m option but he's voided the deal by paying $2m back.
Next option is they either tag him to trade him or just let him walk.
Seen that a lot of people are mocking DK Metcalf to us:
I wouldn't say no to that.
Edit: I was disappointed with his tame name but I've just checked and the DK stands for DeKaylin Zecharius. Fucking sign him up
You wont have to, the Ravens head office will when they find out he's not a tight end.
He’s a monster. He could bench 100lbs in first grade, and he looked like this at 18 (far right).
Best WR in the class, just ahead of Kelvin Harmon. Long strider (I’d expect him to run under 4.50), can dominate press, good route runner, a bit inconsistent on contested catches/jump balls but when he gets it right he’s unstoppable.
Injury history (missed about half of his three seasons & ended this one with a neck injury) is probably the biggest thing that can hold him back.
AAF tonight, anyone?
There are a couple tonight. Not sure what time exactly (think it's 1am) or where to watch them (apparently they might have the games on their website), but that's what the internet is for.
Hopefully there's something decent. Not interested in dodgy streams for anything, let alone NFL C.
What's AAF? I thought College Ball was done?
Another 'pro' league for players not on NFL rosters. Like the xfl but there's 4 NFL teams loosely linked to each team. There's a few players you'd recognise.

With stars like Christian Hackenberg, Trent Richardson & Josh Woodrum, how could you not watch?!

What is the AAF? Notable players, coaches, teams, schedule for new Alliance of American Football league
By Cody Benjamin 2h ago • 3 min read
The new Alliance of American Football is almost ready for kickoff (the two season-openers, San Diego-San Antonio and Atlanta-Orlando, are both on CBS at 8 p.m. ET Saturday, with regional coverage, and can be streamed on CBS All Access). So, what exactly is the AAF? Well, you may have come across some news about former NFL quarterbacks finding new homes, if you've been reading football headlines recently,
CBS Sports Network aired a QB Draft with lead analysis from Kurt Warner, for instance, and in that draft, familiar names like Christian Hackenberg, Josh Johnson (who ended up playing for the Washington Redskins in a few games late in the 2018 NFL season) and Aaron Murray were selected as if starting their NFL careers afresh.
Those quarterbacks -- and countless other players -- are actually preparing to suit up for the AAF, a brand new league set to debut on Saturday.
If you're like most football fans, however, and you're still trying to figure out just what the heck AAF really is, well, you've come to the right place. Here, we've got all the details you need to get ready for the games this weekend (and we've even got Power Rankings):
So what is the AAF?
AAF stands for Alliance of American Football, which was announced in March by co-founders Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian, the latter of whom spent decades working as an NFL executive. It is an eight-team league that exists to both complement the NFL during the offseason and showcase local, developing talent. Its leadership board features former NFL players Jared Allen, Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu, and its mission is to provide "high-quality professional football fueled by a dynamic Alliance between players, fans and the game." And if you want to see out who we've got in the Week 1 games, check out our picks.
What are the teams?
The AAF's inaugural eight franchises are as follows:
Arizona Hotshots
Atlanta Legends
Birmingham Iron
Memphis Express
Orlando Apollos
Salt Lake Stallions
San Antonio Commanders
San Diego Fleet
Who are some notable coaches and players?
The AAF used a QB Draft to allow each of the eight teams an opportunity to either protect allocated quarterbacks or pick one from another region, with those quarterbacks first signing directly to the AAF. Before the draft, dozens of other players had already joined the league, with Hines Ward hinting this fall that "big names" remain on the AAF's radar.
Before any players signed to the league, the AAF also announced head coaches for all eight of its original teams.
Here's a rundown of some of the most notable names on each team entering 2019:
Team: Arizona Hotshots
Coach: Rick Neuheisel
Players: QB Trevor Knight
Team: Atlanta Legends
Coach: Kevin Coyle
Players: QB Aaron Murray, QB Matt Simms, WR Stephen Hill
Team: Birmingham Iron
Coach: Tim Lewis
Players: QB Blake Sims, QB Scott Tolzien, RB Trent Richardson, CB JaCorey Shepherd, K Nick Novak
Team: Memphis Express
Coach: Mike Singletary
Players: QB Christian Hackenberg, QB Zach Mettenberger, RB Zac Stacy, WR Chris Givens
Team: Orlando Apollos
Coach: Steve Spurrier
Players: QB Garrett Gilbert, QB Stephen Morris, WR Frankie Hammond, DB Will Hill
Team: Salt Lake Stallions
Coach: Dennis Erickson
Players: QB B.J. Daniels, QB Garrett Grayson, RB Matt Asiata
Team: San Antonio Commanders
Coach: Mike Riley
Players: RB David Cobb, RB Daryl Richardson
Team: San Diego Fleet
Coach: Mike Martz
Players: QB Josh Johnson, RB Bishop Sankey
When will they start playing?
The AAF's 10-week, 40-game regular season begins Saturday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. ET from Spectrum Stadium in Florida, where the Orlando Apollos will host the Atlanta Legends; and from The Alamodome in Texas, where the San Antonio Commanders will host the San Diego Fleet.
CBS is scheduled to broadcast the AAF's Feb. 9 Opening Day, with regional coverage (and you can stream the games on CBS All Access), while CBS Sports Network will then carry one AAF game each week throughout the season (stream those games on CBS Sports Network or on fuboTV, try for free).
Sounds like I'm all aboard the Memphis Express!
Yeah, I'm tempted - any team who has both Hackenberg & Mettenberger must be on to something.
THE TRUTH Woodrum
Have they got the Merchandise ready for it yet?
For some reason the NFL Network have games.
They're palling up with them - half the league officials are ex-NFL guys like Hines Ward & Troy Polamalu - and they've already come out & said they're not trying to complete, they're trying to give guys another place to show they can play. They're letting their own talent sign NFL contacts without any issue (as we've already seen with Josh Johnson), so it's basically a developmental league. May as well get some benefits out of it.
This looks like it should have Tim Tebow and Johnny Football involved.
Nah, the XFL starts next year
Just seen that Baltimore are actually affiliated with Arizona Hotshots.
Do I go with Woodrum or my team, hmmm.
The fact that you haven't hopped aboard the Memphis Express is very disappointing.
Memphis Express- Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans
Fuck that shit.
Hackenberg and Mettenberger though.
https://uni-watch.com/2018/11/28/lea...ou-wont-watch/
I'm going San Diego fleet.
That kit
Edit: It looks like Packers green on the Shop though
Matt Asiata
The best RB in the history of the game, if yardage didn't matter and every play was from the 1 yard line.
The streams are live on the AAF site. They don't seem to have realised in the ATL/ORL game, where they had some dude at the video desk checking his phone, and now have the commentator talking about when they're meant to be filming segments & how Jeff Fisher just swung by to tell them when he'd be up. I think he's also eating :D
Didn't realise they had a blitz limit - only allowed to rush up to five guys. Not quite Senior/Pro Bowl levels, but still a bit rubbish.
They just did a full five minute segment, complete with cutaway to an interview with Steve Spurrier, and they're now doing it again. I don't know whether they've just gone live or not :D
Just gone back to SD/SA & it's dudes standing in front of a load of screens with their backs to the cameras & no audio, so I guess maybe not.
EDIT: Definitely not live - ATL/ORL has gone back to the field audio. Think it's 1am broadcast start & 1:30am kickoff :moop:
I can't get it to load.
Atlanta v Orlando
San Diego v San Antonio
Should be able to access them through the bit on the right side of the homepage, but if not hopefully the direct links work.
Stadiums are both probably under half full.
It's laggy as fuck on my end.
Buffering every 5 seconds on my laptop and my Amazon fire TV stick is refusing to play it at all.
You're missing nothing so far - I thought SD/SA had gone live but they were just rehearsing too :D
Finally playing on my Fire TV and doesn't seem to be buffering \0/.
But now my volume has cut out.
THE FLAG TO END ALL FUCKING FLAGS.
Fuck yeah Murica.
Might be just the broadcast - they were coming & going every few minutes.
Got the anthem on one & a marching band on the other now though.
Look at that pathetic flag for the ATL/ORL anthem :nono:
Do they not realise when their mics are on? We've been getting random chatter the entire time on both streams.
This band though
Commanders/Fleet game is constantly dropping sound.
And why are they using the crossbar camera?
I love that they cut to Tiki et al and you see them getting ready for being on camera despite being on camera.
Yeah, the production so far has been offensively bad. I can't even tell whether they've actually gone live for real anymore, but when the game starts they absolutely have to get their shit together because this is not good.
I've seen the Commanders coach do his pre-match talk about 3 times now.
I have no idea why they made the feed go live 90mins ago :D
I sure do know all about Big Play McKay now Tiki!
Blitz limited and no kick offs? fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
BIG PLAY MCKAY
WE FLEET WITH BERCOVICI.
Oh shit he just got destroyed.
RIP Mike Bercovici
He doesn't even take a snap off.
HE IS FLEET TOUGH.
So what is this shit exactly?
The bridge between college football & the NFL, basically.
So is it for people that didn't get drafted?
Anyone not currently on an NFL roster, doesn't have to just be the UDFAs from the last draft class - we have Trent Richardson & Christian Hackenberg on opposite sides tomorrow. Can't remember how they stand with the CFL.
Some sort of second division then? The rules seem largely the same, right?
"fuck!"
:D
Oh fuck, YOUNGHOE KOO is there.
First points in AAF history go to your boy Younghoe Koo
I drafted him the year he was in the league, had a team name based on him and had a picture of him. What a don he is.
I am liking that we get the replay official coverage.
Fuck all TV timeouts is brilliant too.
Gonna be through a quarter in half an hour, so that's 10-15mins per quarter faster than NFL speed.
No way was that a catch.
McKay wants an NFL job.
Trying to murder Bercovici here.
Fleet's O-Line is fucking horrendous.
Bercovici is so thankful they can only rush 5.
First TD from Jalin Marshall.
I fell asleep at the end of the first quarter - there are no highlights on their website, YouTube channel or app. You can't even see a box score :D
Definitely still need to work on the presentation a bit. Fortunately there are highlights elsewhere on YT.
QB play is too poor to make it worth watching all that much.
Yeah, there were some pretty sloppy performances. Logan Woodside was the most impressive of the guys from last night, but you can see why most of these guys didn't make it.
I fell asleep at the half and really enjoyed it. There's a lot to like about it.
That's a class interception.
For those that didn't see it yesterday:
Cracking hit.
OH MY GOD HOW DID I NOT KNOW JEFF FISHER WAS HEAD OF FOOTBALL STRATEGY FOR AAF?! :D
Iron v Express in an hour, by the way.
Is it on anywhere legitimate?
They have it on their website and NFL Network is carrying some games.
They also have an app that carries it.
The app is saying CBS.
Doesn't matter, I was able to watch on the app yesterday just fine.
we should do a blind draw and pick teams
I should be an Orlando fan but their color scheme is shit
I've nothing on the app except a graphic of a field and some tripe about predicting the next play.
They're all on aaf.com, I think. If you go there now you can probably catch them rehearsing their intro six or seven times.
It's too early.
Long snapper, punter, and kicker. Looks exciting.
http://i63.tinypic.com/nwn1qg.png
Stream isn't working on the website at all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YffW...ature=youtu.be
They've said that some games on CBS can't be streamed the wankers.
http://opioen.live/memphis-birmingham/
Luis Perez looks good so far - he had some talk as a potential draft sleeper in the 2017 class, so hopefully he & Woodside will be the two guys who actually provide some consistently good QB play.
Hackenburg looks exactly as he always has.
That looks like a fabulous catch for me.
Richardson still doesn't know how to protect the ball.
Memphis clearly don't trust Hack. The question to raise there is "in that case, how bad was Zach Mettenberger?' :uhoh:
They clearly don't trust Hack anymore.
The Birmingham punter, Schmidt, could have an NFL contract soon.
How the fuck did he hit me :D
Adverts for male baldness and catheters. What the fuck?
Pretty standard American TV ads from what I've seen. Weird place.
This Birmingham team is pretty high on the list of potential teams to root for. Shame Patton can't catch anything outside his frame though.
EDIT: Saved by a blurry replay :D
Mark Butterworth is fucking drunk.
That's a horrific call.
Bill Bryson wrote a bit about American TV ads after moving back over there after years in the UK that amused me.
Quote:
a man at a bowling alley (men are pretty generally at bowling alleys in these things) grimaces after a poor shot and mutters to his partner, "It's these haemorrhoids again." And here's the thing. The buddy has some haemorrhoid cream in his pocket! Not in his gym bag, you understand, not in the glovebox of his car, but in his shirt pocket, where he can whip it out at a moment's notice and call the gang round. Extraordinary.
That ad probably had just as much of its run time spent on outlining all the potential side effects as it did the actual advert.
The other thing I find is that 80% of all car adverts seem to be for trucks, and most of them are based on shitting on other companies (this applies to internet/phone companies too).
Hack actually throws a decent ball and it's take off the board with a flag.
Jamar Summers has been balling. Think he was a Steelers pick in the 2018 draft, so it seems to be all the young guys that are showing out.
EDIT: They signed him as a UDFA & let him go in the final cuts.
What a tackle that was by Ryan White.
If Hack can't complete a pass more than 5yds downfield he needs to get the fuck out of the AAF.
I guess that's why Hack was starting.
Brandon Silvers in & immediately throws a pick. On a screen pass :D Mettenberger must've have had both his arms amputated.
He's listed as inactive.
Just seen the Iron have former GB discuss thrower Lawrence Okoye on their roster
Probably not for long:
https://www.al.com/news/birmingham/2...ion-sting.html
Oh :D I did see the headline a few days ago but didn't read it. In similar news, Wyoming DE Carl Granderson, who was at the Senior Bowl, has just been charged with sexual assault, so he probably won't be getting drafted now.
Jamar Summers MVP :hail:
The 65 year old
Asiata loyal to the brand
Woodrum had a couple of nice throws, but Rashad Ross balled out for Arizona. Good first week, I’d say. Couple of teams that look trash, but the rest should be competitive.
It’s decided.
Browns have signed Kareem Hunt.
Lol at that Murray twat. Imagine the state of him when Aaron Donald or Khalil Mack get their hands on him. Especially with Donald's new way of spinning people to the ground, it'll look like a hammer throw.
I hope he goes to the Dolphins as many have mocked him too.
We get to play them this season and I'd love to see our pass rush destroy the boy.
They also play the Chargers. Bosa and Ingram could batter him too.
Hunt and Chubb
I feel like most things with direct rivals here do that to an extent. It was much better when other brands could potentially get sued for using their rivals name/brand/likeness so it forced everyone to be slightly more clever with their disses.
Nowadays it's basically "Pepsi is the suck drink Coke, bro!" and that's it.
Buy our catheters because the others just don't slide it as easy!
This is him now.
UUUUUUAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH :flex: :flex: :flex:
I hope Murray bombs to round 3.
What happens to his Oakland contract with them? Is he 4
Million in the hole?
He must have it on pretty good authority he's heading in round 1. Or at least this is the first pre requisite teams needed for this to happen.
Guess he'll just pay it back out of the much larger amount of money he'll get for being a first round pick in the NFL.
Potential top 15 talent Jeffery Simmons (DT, Mississippi State) has had a bad few weeks. First he wasn’t invited to the combine because of a high school incident where he hit a woman who was attacking his sister, and now he’s potentially torn his ACL. Someone is going to get a bargain.
Also this:
There are so many salty Steelers fans venting on Twitter.
I won’t be burning mine.
Traitor.
I hope they trade him to the Jags for Ramsey so both my non-Saints jerseys can be outdated at the same time
Damn, it's going to be weird seeing him turn out for another team. I know he's temperamental and has a "diva" attitude, but whenever he was on the field, you knew there was a chance, and his last few seasons have been so impressive.
Time for JuJu to step up to that WR1 role. His numbers were good enough this year but I don't know how he'll cope with the extra attention of the top defensive backs.
They’ve got to hope James Washington can step up next year if they do get rid of AB. The real question is how much will they get for him?
A pick in the 20-50 range seems about fair, but everyone is all over the place when it comes to valuing players & picks, so no doubt there will be outrage if he’s traded for less than two first rounders.
Unlucky, Ian.
Flacco to Denver. I know it can't get much worse than we've been at that position since Manning's shoulder fell off but... ugh.
I don’t get it. What does he do for you that you aren’t basically getting from Keenum already?
Throws all the Drew Lock talk up in the air too.
Fangio worked with Flaccid one season.
Cap management :harold:
That is incredible.
Slightly better than Brock
What are Baltimore going to do for a QB then?
Word is that we got a fourth rounder for him.
Not bad considering we were going to cut him.
I'm not that keen on Washington. Was excited when he was drafted but he looked quite poor this year, good athletic ability and speed as he did get open a few times, but he dropped some key passes in big situations. Hopefully he can iron those out, and if anyone can help a WR improve, it's the Steelers.
I can see AB going for a late first and maybe.... a fourth? I know the Cooper trade was inflated because it was mid-season, but if I'm basing it off of that, I think that would probably be fair.
I reckon teams will low ball the Steelers. No reason to offer a first for a 31 year old who doesn’t want to be there.
It's a shame it's not his real name but Poop Johnson is still pretty good.
It not being his real name might actually make it better, because he's choosing to be called 'Poop'.
AAF made an approach to Kaepernick but he's rejected them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4JdsjJDGS0
This is where 'Poop' comes from.
Where's this Murray QB guy going in the draft?
