He's genuinely an impossible person to have a discussion with.
Highlights so far.

"When I took over we didn't even have a #COVID19 test"
13:30
"Look at these graphs...er.. you can see.... We're lower than the world"
When asked if he reads his daily briefing:
"I read a lot, they say I don't read, I read. I comprehend very well, probably better than anybody you've interviewed in a long time. I spend a lot of time in meetings Go to maybe 1 meeting day, or maybe 2 or 3 a week".
That is a five year olds defence against criticism.
He frequently goes with "I'm actually better at [thing] than most people." He's an embarrassment.
Remember when we thought Bush was thick?
They were good times.
He seems quite the sophisticate when you compare him to this unstoppable shambles they now have.
He’s responsible for a 100k dead and still has a lower kill rate than Bush.
They’re both despicable.
He'll have 4 more years to catch up.
There’s no way he doesn’t start something big with some country in the next term. He might even do it before it the antagonistic fuck.
The professional opinion-havers pining for the people who fucked everything (everything) up whilst, more often than not, also wondering where all this 'populism' came from is definitely the best trend of the past few years. Rehabilitating George W. early doors should probably have set some alarms off.
For clarity, because it appears necessary for some reason, saying Bush was less thick than Trump is not an endorsement.
Not you Spikey, it's my parents and people their age.
Phew.
On the subject of old Dubya I quite enjoyed the Saddam episode of that Once Upon a Time in Iraq thing last night.
I liked the idea of him sitting in the interrogation wherever, hearing all the explosions and everything going to shit outside and being all smug about it. Your leaders have lied to you and this will end badly. Shithead or not he had a point.
Can you embed Facebook videos??

To be fair, he doesn't say he's referring to the Spanish flu.
To be fair, there was no pandemic in 1917. It's also clear based on the numbers he's used (although he's used the high estimates).
Hey! Stop gaslighting him!
I think that's what that phrase means. Not really sure with all these new saying.
They chose a Cop. Lol
Is the fact that she has publicly called him a racist nonce likely to become a campaign issue?
I dont think words matter anymore.
Fucking hell this is in Rupert Murdochs 'The Australian' today.

James Murdoch ringing all his trendy mates to tell them how appalled he is.
'The what?'
'The Australian. It's one of his... He's originally from Australia.'
This is just crazy end to end.
The media can be such pricks at times. Spinning this into a bullshit story. Of course Melania rejected his hand, she was trying to keep her skirt from flapping up.
Did Melania reject Donald's hand?
https://news.sky.com/video/share-12050826
He probably paid for that himself. 4D Chess is back baby.
Drain the swamp!
Kellyanne Conway's quit. Says she wants to spend more time with Trump's family.
Going to get herself arrested like the rest of his team?
This Wisconsin shooting looks like a serious Darwin Award attempt, and yet they're still booting off.
Shooting him 7 times in the back from point-blank range whilst you cling on to his clothing does seem excessive :D
Have the Republicans really come out and said they have no policies for the next term other than disagreeing with Joe Biden?
That seems a strange move for an incumbent party.
I've noticed it's getting into 'UK commentators pretend to understand US politics' season, which comes around every four years.
The Cheese Belt could be key.
Here's the bit that got me, they basically say they won't have a party platform for the upcoming election but:
Kind of shitting on the Republic a little there chaps. And yes, I realise the real reason is because any policy plan they put forward will be contradicted by Trump before the ink is even dry but it still seems a pretty mad thing to have come out with.Quote:
The Republican Party has and will continue to enthusiastically support the President’s America-first agenda.
I feel like Biden saying he'd shut the country down if he needed to and the mandatory masks might have lost him the election before it's even started.
EDIT: Man, that shooting footage is dumb.
I'm pretty sure this'll be like Bush's second go round where everyone talks openly about how Bush is awful but then somehow he wins the electorate anyways.
You voting bruh?
And I presume the policemen were telling him to stop at every step. He just saunters over to his car.
The amount of people saying 'Well, he should have listened!' Is mental. Yes, he should have, but there are quite a few things you can do to force compliance before going Defcon 7 shots in the back.
They shoot him because it's harder to train your police force properly so they essentially get given a gun and told to shoot people they don't like. There's zero consequences too, so it is any wonder they gun down hundreds of people a year.
This is true but they have a shoot first policy which surely everyone in existence is now aware of. Regardless of the morals/merits of that, if an armed US Police Officer tells you to do something, unless you're a complete moron or are after some suicide by cop, then you do it. This has always been the case. The Protect and Serve brigade have always been intimidating to anyone with half a brain.
The drug addled and mentally ill not famed for their decision making and rationality though which rather complicates that approach.
And the American people are shit at doing what they're told.
This might sound harsh, but it's all so unutterably boring. Things like this happen, the wider world is outraged for a period of time, we all then go back to watching Netflix and the cycle repeats.
As fucked up as it is, it is what it is and nothing is ever going to change it, there are simply far too many Americans who're absolutely fine with guns and everything that goes with that, for it to.
You're not wrong. I can't remember who said it first, but when Sandy Hook wasn't enough to prompt change, nothing ever will be.
Yes, at this point you have to assume this is the way Americans want their country, although I suppose their argument would be that their system is not one conducive to changing anything in that regard (especially when there are large corporate interests at stake). Lol at their rapacious society and political system I guess.
Sigh.
Seems like the guy in charge of the coppers who triple double tapped that guy in the back is a really nice guy.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EgVsq1XWoAAvbXy.jpg
He sounds like a visionary 2020 melts aren't ready for.
Ya'll see the story about this 17yo kid who came from like a hundred miles away with a gun to "help the cops / back the blue" whatever and got ran up on with a skateboard so he killed two people ? lol
the end of the video where he's seemingly casually walking toward police picks up here:
Ya know, no biggie. Just shot a guy lemme throw up some hand signs at you.
He's listened to police and obeyed them. He has been charged with murder. Fuck outta here with the outrage.
Cause I just am kinda sad we got 17 year olds walking around with AR-15's and the police are thanking them for being there instead of telling them to go the fuck home before getting themselves in such a situation two people died and now he's ruined his entire life.
'When we said legitimise politicised street violence with cover from the authorities we only meant...'
This country is the gift that keeps on giving.
Has anyone been following the lolfest in Portland? How can absolutely everyone be so fucking deranged.
I left a failing state and all I got was this lousy failing state.
If it wasn't for the lol salary they give me to do fuck all, I'd be back in a heartbeat.
I seen a video yesterday of some supposed CJNG dude cutting out a piece of the heart of one of their rivals and eating it right in front of him as his lungs and guts basically kept pumping and expanding out of the very "surgical" incision in the man's chest and stomach so shiiiit idk fam.
Ironically though exactly what we need in this country are CJNG types to police the police but that's another discussion.
Man, that takes me back to some ISIS internet.
Yea the internet from like 2001-2004 came rushing back quickly to say the least.
11-14 surely?
There barely was internet in 2001.
Nah this was Iraqi War / Al Qaeda shit, it was def about 2002 cause I remember my cousin's boyfriend (now husband) was the one to show me when they came to Florida on vacation and that was the year before I went into high school.
Oh, there was plenty. It was all weird and new and dark. Everything from, "Here is my geocities page. I like bikes and anime." to "Welcome to rotten.com. Here's Tupac's corpse."
Dude exactly. I always wonder if my generation is all weird because we were all given the internet like it was the Encyclopedia Britannica in the early 2000s when we were hitting puberty and perhaps our parents just kinda let us at it so long as we "don't give strangers personal information!"
Remember the fuckin one with the hammer guy? Sergei wasn't it? Hell nah.
Earliest I remember is around 1994/5 so it was easily a thing in 2001.
I also remember my set of World Book encyclopedia. They got me through university.
The internet landrush was so good. Every day a new ISP disc was through your door. And we got our memes from YTMND.
Yeah, of course it was a thing, I was flaming chatrooms in the mid-90s like a hero, the dotcom boom was around 2000 wasn't it?
It's just that in the date range, broadband barely existed in 2001, and the Iraq war was 2003 wasn't it? I guess quite a lot changed in those years in terms of it going from something some people looked at every once in a while to something that was used daily (and now in 6 minute units).
Was Iraq not around 1990?
Alright Stormin' Norman.
I believe for the purposes of disambiguation that was The Gulf War.
Broadband might not have been knocking around then but I think the internet was still pretty popular in that era.
I got my first PC in 98 and was hammering Limewire a few years later on dial-up.
I know you all think of the USA as a 3rd world country but I promise we were able to download those faces of death videos like an hour at a time in the early 2000s lol
I would have always said Limewire was a later p2p platform but wiki suggests it dates from 2000, which puts it almost on a par with Napster.
Was kaZaa before limewire or was it after?
What I was saying was that I looked at those range of dates and thought about 2001 more than 2004, and quite lot happened in between those dates in terms of ubiquity of access to the internet, speed of the internet, stuff on the internet, and conflict in the middle east. By 2004 facebook was a thing, just, although not many would have known about it (me included).
2001 was all Pamela Anderson sex tape and other tragic grainy dial-up shit (actually that was more a '99 thing maybe).
In short, nothing to see here, move along.
MySpace. When was that? I think I was working then.
2005-2008 apparently.
friendsreunited.com
I remember when facebook started letting high schoolers on because "AYE BRO FACEBOOK ISN'T BLOCKED AT SCHOOL LIKE MYSPACE"
When status updates were all in 3rd person.
bruhnaldo is happy that it's finally Friday!
I remember downloading a clip of Jenna Jameson banging some other woman on a toilet. That shit took like twenty hours. Worth it.
15 minutes for a song, 2 hours for a gif of barely decipherable porn.
All at 25 pence a minute.
Used to be able to plug in anywhere though, so if you had unlimited dial-up, you could use any landline. I remember being outraged when all that tethering shit came in (probably in about 2001?).
There were obviously hardware limitations.
Trying to get the pr0ns off of limewire and stuff MAN those were some days.
I remember trying to watch like the halfway finished seed file to try and tell if it was any good.
Spent most of my early days looking for like Britney+Christina fakes for some reason tho lol
Ooh, those napster tricksters posing 30 second samples as full songs.
Not to ruin the nostalgia but the NBA players have gone on strike at the lack of action taken against the officer.
My dad's response at the graphic appearing under the scores on BT for the CL final made me so proud "Black lives matter? Why? Is that not finished yet?"
I thought we may have seen the end of it in the prem but I guess this means the cretins continue to shove it in our face.
It presumably stops once the crowds get back in.
Bitch ass black boys
What a post :D
Cumtown style that is...
Straight out of Nick Mullens riff book.
That vigilante lad killed a nonce (a bald, manlet nonce) and a woman beater. What are the odds?
You're gonna need to source that shit cause I'm getting fake news vibes as this is only thing I can see.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/chicago...-fugitive/amp/
The bloke who got his elbow blown out is merely a petty criminal.
INJECT IT INTO ME
Jacob Blake is a woman-beating sex offender as well. The Nonce Riots.
Andy Ngo seems quite objective.
Anyone who reads Andy Ngo and takes it at face value is a moron.
Which bit of what I posted is wrong?
They're down on one knee and on the ropes. Their corner needs to throw the towel in.
Hey if 'shooting domestic abusers in the head' becomes policy. 4 in 10 cops will be dead so maybe everyone gets what they want.
Chasing down someone armed with an automatic weapon and boshing them with a skateboard is pretty baller
So is doing it to your wife. /Lewis
If you go through the thread, the little bald nonce appears to literally run right into a bullet. If that timeline is accurate - and let's not take a dodgy news source known for posting hysterical shite at face value - then he moonwalks out of the court.
Didn't he cross state lines with an illegal firearm?
Sorry yeah. Ten dollar fine for that, maybe billed for a covid test at the police station as well.
Maybe they'll get him for tax evasion, or wire fraud.
I have no idea about the first one, but that video of him falling and shooting at people around him, one of whom is armed, as other gunfire is heard, looks like something you could definitely get away with in America in terms of self-defence, probably anywhere. Particularly if they have one of those Zimmerman laws.
Can you stand your ground by taking your ground 100 miles to the conflict?
https://www.wispolitics.com/wp-conte...28-2020-PS.pdf
lol at burning your town down for that silly cunt. :o
A bit more alleged information on Jacob Blake shooting.
A black man shot seven times in the back by US police had a knife and fought with officers beforehand, putting one in a headlock and shrugging off two Taser attempts, it is claimed.
https://news.sky.com/story/jacob-blake-had-knife-and-put-officer-in-headlock-before-shooting-claims-police-union-12059179
Lewis out in the streets.
Trump is gonna win, too.
Cert.
lol fuck off the mans lost it.
The bogeyman is going to get you! VOTE TRUMP!
"I'm not the Illuminati, he is!"
He is going to win again. These protests or 'riots' are a gift for him. 50+ White America - the people that actually vote - are BlueLivesMatter.
His covid bungling will probably do for him, even if you factor in a huge margin of error the polls give it to Biden. The shame for yanks is that it's this close.
It's going to be round-the-clock gold as we approach the vote.
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: :lol::lol::lol:Quote:
Now they are trying to say that your favorite President, me
There's still a chance covid could bop him. Every four months.
The best bit is Trump using footage of America now and saying 'this is what will happen if Biden gets in!' :D
That clip of America's racist granddad banging on about cans of soup as if they're akin to WMDs is quite something.
'Joe Hiden' is pretty good, but them emojis.
Giving out  to Dan Scaving posts?
Stop being a mark.
The CDC are planning a rollout of the Covid vaccine by November.
No they’re not.
They’re saying hospitals have to prepare to distribute a vaccine even though it won’t be there. It’s a Trump election thing.
There’s an article out today about Trump complaining to people that Maggie Haberman keeps saying he has Parkinson’s which she’s never done so that pretty much confirms he’s got Parkinson’s.
I know America loves a bit of revisionism but I've just seen Paul Krugman claim that America took 9/11 'quite calmly' and didn't 'fly off the handle into anti-muslim bigotry'.
How are these people still employed?
He is a solid case for 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' being real. He is obviously seriously intelligent, and yet he seems to produce some of the shittest content out there, which I don't recall him always having done.
On a related media idiots note, Trump saying (thinking out loud) that the generals/arms companies love perpetual warfare being reported as AN ATTACK ON THE MILITARY made me lol. Not only because it obviously isn't, and that he was right, but it assumes that what passes for his base conflate the two as stupidly as they do.
It's one of those times when him brain-farting out everything that comes into his head means he accidentally says the truth, like a dementia-addled speaking clock
I would watch all four hours of a presidential debate moderated by Joe Rogan.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsrO9-D5c5U
Yeah, dead trees do dry out and become volatile. Austria's summer is not as hot as California's, though. And that last bit is ..... odd. Great tie, Donald.
Criminality and dehumanisation is rampant. Dangerous times.
What the absolute fuck? That can't be legit, surely? Jesus.
VICE story in here.
This sounds bonkers, even for the US. 50 days to an election, I await some decent evidence.
It's horrendous if it's true but I can't pretend it surprises me. It's not like them locking up and doing unspeakable things to foreigners is new information.
Seems like it's being done by a private prison company who are housing these people, which is honestly no surprise given the absolutely ridiculously cruel things that happen in for-profit prisons in the US.
These Israeli doings are pretty serious, although you can see why everyone has an interest in pretending otherwise. And not just the media whoppers. Trump showing up forty years of 'realist' foreign policy nonces by being an actual realist - treating it all like a property deal because he's an idiot - is seriously lol to me. He probably asked why they bother listening to the Palestinians, called them losers, and when nobody could explain why it all just worked itself out somehow.
This is disgusting and terrifying.
https://i.imgur.com/PQSgIyc.png
Gotta stop those anchor babies somehow
Ruth Bader Ginsberg's dead. Will Trump have time to replace her before the election?
My friend has had a theory for a while now that she died ages ago but they were keeping it hidden until the Democrats were in a position to replace her. This must mean the postal votes are looking promising.
Easily. Filibuster was nuked for Trumps first nomination, but it would've definitely been for this regardless.
It's actually insane how big an anchor this will tie around the country's neck compared to if the old bat just managed to last a few more months. Trump will have nominated three justices in his first term lol.
Ginsburg died.
America is fucked.
I doubt they'll nominate anyone before the election though. Hold it up as a way to drive conservative turn-out, and then regardless if they win or lose just jam one through during the lame duck period.
And if he can't replace her in time, all of those 'Republican Voters Against Trump' suddenly start seeing their arse if the election means something again.
I would like to state that I posted that before his post appeared, so my use of 'seeing their arse' is entirely unintentional.
I'm surprised to see loads of regular people posting condolences and RIP's about her on social media like they would if it was a singer or an actor. I honestly never even heard her name before today. Was she famous for something else too?
No.
It'll be the same sort of people who lionised Lady Hale (great as she may be) in the wake of her becoming more publicly known.
It’s in no way even slightly equivalent. Courts affect politics in a way they don’t in the UK because of their role in interpreting the constitution.
As someone who was supposed to be on ‘my side’ She sucks and her refusal to resign despite having 8 types of cancer is a perfect encapsulation of how incompetent the Democratic Party is.
For anyone interested I reccomend listening to Five Four, which is a podcast that breaks down why the supreme court is a disgusting institution.
I'm not saying the positions are in any way similar (other than perhaps in their essence as the top judge) you cretinous fanny, just that people virtue signalling the passing of someone they'd likely barely heard of during her long tenure is equivalent to the people who started wearing massive brooches in solidarity with Lady Hale when that was going on. Oh look how abreast of things I am!
They can do what the fuck they want with their constitution as far as I care. It's their [stupid] country and their [stupid] system.
Are you talking about English people or Americans?
I presumed Giggles was talking about Americans because of his sports interests. Any American interested in politics post Bush v Gore will be aware of her. Yaaas queening her despite Sotomayor being 10x the justice Ginsburg was/is idiotic.
It's very funny watching all these white women get mad that people are calling RBG out because 'she represented us'. Only hired one black clerk in 27 years, strange that.
No, Irish people. People that I've never heard mention US politics any further than "yer man trump is some dickhead". Very odd.
Ginsburg was great
The personality cult around her is a bit weird, and also a bit lol today given that it was in part down to her refusal to retire when it was safe[r] to do so. Jewish privilege that.
She was a huge icon on one side of the American culture wars.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biIRlcQqmOc
Any bookies offering markets on the next SCOTUS appointment? It's going to be crazy Amy.
Why RBG just retire during the Obama presidency? She was already in her fucking 80's.
I work with/around a few seriously past-it people, and the feeling is that once they get to a certain age they either think that retirement is a death sentence, or (possibly to avoid retiring) convince themselves that only they know how to do it properly, when in reality they aren't because they're still doing it how they were ten sets of rule changes ago and nobody can tell them otherwise.
The politicisation of the appointments means they should have term limits so they don't have to worry about when they retire, it is just already set.
They would still be appointed by whoever happens to be in charge.
I'm not sure about term limits as such, as if someone is a stand-out jurist or whatever you want to call them, and can still do the job, then that experience shouldn't just be binned due to age/expiration of a term. You do sort of want the best of the best doing the job, but then, you have the way they get appointed and nowadays it doesn't feel like you're getting that in the first place. Maybe they should sit for fixed terms (of say 10 years) and be re-appointable? Of course, it should probably be apolitical but good luck with that.
They are supposed to be apolitical and usually arent appointed until they're 50, so a 20 year term limit should be fine realistically. Supposedly some of the other ancient ones had wanted to retire at points but felt unable to.
They have never and never will be apolitical.
I believe the phrase ‘a stitch in time saves nine’ is literally about the Supreme Court backing FDR because he said he’d make them irrelevant by adding Justices if they didn’t.

Apparently at a graduating speech of law students she said that the only reason someone should study law is to 'serve the kingdom of god' so good luck with your sinner lifestyles.
The "she should have retired before" crowd are a bunch of fucking morons.
How about not having a shit system instead of bitching about people who don't try and game it.
The system is ok.
Their original federal system (or something a lot closer to it than what it has become) would solve almost all of their problems, but it seems like one of those things that is too obvious to be obvious, as if it wasn't conceived by some of the cleverest people in the then world.
The original Federal system was bound to go to shit the moment they started raking in more territory and adding states
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54257450
What world are these clowns living in? Are they under the impression that their London Olympics-era coalition of centrist corporate CHANGEsters is still taken seriously?
I see they've got Trump's tax returns.
https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/...24/149/2bc.jpg
For once, a truly evergreen tweet.
Didn't he claim to pay so little tax because he was 'smart' while at the same time claiming to be a terribly successful businessman? So either his smartness was falsifying a load of stuff to dodge a tax bill or he's losing money hand over fist which rather counts against the second bit.
Not sure why I'm trying to apply logic to it because having lied about everything ever, one more thing hardly seems to matter.
Off tomorrow so I'm staying up to watch this in the hope that one of them shits themselves live on stage.
I'm stopping right now, this is tragic.
Well that sounds like it was an intelligent, dignified debate.
Yeah, but this is no fun when our own country is too much of a shambles to mock them.
Sure you can so long as you're mocking both.
Priti Patel wanting to send forins to an island in the South Atlantic is a bit "Are we the baddies?" for example.
Tony Abbott wants to get a black refugee island going yeah?
He isnt even our worst Facist.
We are 100% the baddies, and always have been from the moment Henry VIII left the Catholic Church. The original Brexit.
What's all the Biden has dementia stuff? He sounds fine.
That was quite possibly the most embarrassing display of politics in the history of debates. Even the moderator was a complete shitshow.
Trump giving violent racists the "wait for my signal" stuff was good.
Biden ain't winning this election, no sir
I didn't see the debate but I'm going to go on twitter in case any British comedy writers (who were asleep at the time) have an opinion on it.
I had the misfortune to watch it. Dreadful, dreadful stuff.
I spent an afternoon at work scouting Scottish locations for a migrant camp/prison a few weeks ago, and I settled on Rum.
Are there any articles anywhere from people who are better than Biden that describe how they'd take Trump on in a debate?
There must be a strategy that works, but I can't for the life of me think what it is.
Simple messaging wins. I would choose one word (probably 'Corrupt') and just say it 5,000 times.
If you put some youthful energy into Joe Biden and got rid of his 18th century anachronisms, you could get somewhere. Unfortunately al the loud assholes self-select into the Republican party and the Dems are left with betas.
AOC vs Trump would be a good watch actually
Trump also donned the Republican primary last time around, even with the likes of Ted Cruz around.
Btw, kudos to Tronnie for managing to shoehorn a Pocahontas reference in there. He just won't leave her alone. :D
I think to beat him you would need to be able to EXPOSE all of his bullshit, but do so in such a way where you didn't just come across as the sort of patronising, whinging cunt who in an other life would be telling you you wouldn't be eating that if you knew what was in it. This was where 'Hillary' fell down, and where ninety-five per cent of other [supposedly] intelligent left-wing women suffer (see: every woman in the Labour Party). Barack Hussein Obama would have lolled him off the stage with such an approach, as 'Sleepy Joe' himself might have done thirty years ago, but 'AOC' has actual shit for brains and would start bealing at the first bit of trolling.
Good summary thread here.
You need someone with swagger, basically, like Cory Booker or Bernie.
AOC would just act offended all the time, which is an insta-loss.
Why are people talking about it like he won?
He sounded like a fucking weirdo shouting conspiracies that he read in emails where the subject line begins with RE:RE:RE:FWD:RE:FWD:FWD:FWD and rounded it off by saluting the proud boys.
Gently mouthing 'TITS' and making subtle gestures to throw her off her stride.
There is no "winning" in a debate. Not that we could call that a debate.
Obama would have "lost" this debate, he was always meek because he was up against a couple of morally decent Republicans who were equally traditional (McCain, Romney, and Obama are probably the most good-natured candidates we've had since 2000). AOC would be loud and obnoxious and energetic. Proud Boy virgins like Lewis would call her shit for brains no matter what, but in terms of taking the stage to Trump she'd do a better job of not getting steamrolled than anyone I can think of
The woman is thick as fuck lad. If she wasn't such a sort nobody would give her the time of day.
Hence why Lewis thinks she’s thick. Dunning Kruger in action.
Dunning-Kruger doesn't mean that. Hence why I think you're thick. Commonly misunderstood meaning of Dunning Kruger in action.
You've both used "hence why" so you're both thick.
Please remember that I was state educated.
I am a great advert for the foolhardiness of private education I’ll give you that.
I'm just here wondering if Lewis is actually a virgin
I reckon Asexual.
I heard he milked Amigo and Luca drank it.
Amigo wouldn't have finished it if it had been the other way round.
I appreciate it wasn't exactly revelatory but seeing the US President confirm himself as a white supremacist on live tv is a little surreal.
Who else has done that? (Genuine question)
I don't know that anybody recently has actively told the racists to make sure they've got their hoods and nooses ready in the way Trump did last night.
The Proud Boys must be pissing themselves at all the coverage they get (largely from the same people reporting on cities burning themselves down). Fred Perry discontinuing that shirt they like made me lol out loud. What if they just go through all of your range Fred? What then?
She’s so good at this.
I love when the Republicans try force Dems to do something that hurts them because Dems are dumb enough to think it's a good idea.
Won't Trump not campaigning be detrimental to Biden, seeing as his entire strategy is to basically say and do as little as possible and leave Trump to make a tit of himself?
Anyway, what happens if/when Donny pops it? Obviously every news agency on the planet is busy cobbling together news pieces on the subject, but there's probably better insight to be had here. Where's mikem when you need him? Pence stepping into his shoes and becoming the (presumptive) republican nominee would probably be his best chance of actually winning and shines a light on how what looks like an end of days choice between the present two could actually be a whole lot worse.
The main issue would be his dying wish trumping(!) Ruth Bader Ginsburg's dying wish, thereby giving them no option but to unanimously confirm his court pick.
Trump will dominate the news cycle more the longer this goes on which is surely an advantage.
He’d played a blinder with this move in fairness. Deserves to win it for having the stones.
Eric Trump has tweeted about his dad being a Warrior and asking for prayers etc which is normal for someone with mild symptoms.
All campaign ads then?
https://electionlawblog.org/
Ballot goes ahead. If Donald wins and is dead they can nominate someone else apparently.
Piss weak Party.
I've just found out that the founder of the Proud Boys is from my hometown.
He moved to Canada when he was little but yeah.
It was nice when the most famous person born here was a toss up between Ian Poulter and Dave Kitson.
Poulter is still more famous.
As is Dave Kitson.
And Mahow.
That half arsed salute on his walk to the chopper, hopped up on goofballs for definite, why else wait 90 minutes to walk 50 yards?
My mate over there signed up to Trump's mailing list for a laugh and got this yesterday:
https://i.ibb.co/5xTRx8S/FB-IMG-1601706687761.jpg
:D
Amazing. :happycry:
They’ve gone full banana republic and had a body double turn up. 150lbs lighter.
I mean, of course its him.
People seem to think he's enormously obese. He's not. He's regular fat guy fat
His arse is obese.
Trumpy got back.
Should've went with Donald J. Rump.
That’s easily him.
That's the same Sad Donald walk he did after his shit rally that time.
:sherlock:
 LET'S GO
Proper alpha move that. Sleepy Joe wouldn't have made it out the door the low energy fart.
:eyes:
I don't know if they would go the same way as the Boris press people with this ('The Prime Minister is doing a full day's work and played five sets of tennis in ICU this morning'), or ramp up how bad it is to make him look more heroic when he comes through.
He's broke his twitter silence capitalising words like "GREAT", "ALL", "AMAZING!!!" and "PLAGUE".
I love the Guardian's take on this.
His doctor says he's doing fine, so the Guardian make up a source saying "next 48hrs critical" which then allows them to run the headline "Confusions and concern reigns over President's health".
The lefty Twitter has been insufferable. Suddenly, a video edit is a sure sign that he's about the die and THEY are LYING to the country.
"The Guardian source that they made up" was Mark Meadows the Chief of Staff who said it to multiple journalists. Just because the administration is full of incompetent liars, doesn't make it a lefty conspiracy.
I also don't think it's only 'the left' that wish him a slow and painful death.
I try not to read Guardian articles in full.
I issue a full and frank apology to Owen Jones.
It's COVID, he's 74 and medically obese, sources aren't needed to know he's potentially in a bit of trouble when it comes to about a week in.
His need for approval and obsession with his strong man image (lol) is likely going to back fire spectacularly as he screams t the doctors to keep injecting these experimental drugs into him so he can wave at the voters.
If he does die, then basically live tweeting his own death in a series of bluster videos would be a fitting way to go.
He has the same cult of personality as Michael Jackson, at this point. And they're both paedophiles.
:D He is some can of piss.
Such a fucking snake oil salesman. :D
We all knew that Sleepy Joe wasn't a man of the people.
Suckers - not having an on demand private free health care is such a beta move.
Your point still stands. The amount of effort and angles the media have tried to spin on Trump having a serious bout of covid is bollocks.
He's fine and apparently was never in any real danger (compared to some that suffer with severe symptoms). But the media still try to make more of than it is. Twats.
It plays into his hands as well. FAKE NEWS, etc.
Fuck. Ing. Hell.
Trump and his staff.
"Now, when we at WHGS first heard the sad news of President Trump's positive COVID test, once again we had faith and prayed, yet we knew our President would find a way to knockout COVID in early rounds of this battle. President Trump, as you know, is a fan of boxing, and the new coin design features more than a hint of superhero qualities in history's most fascinating president. President Trump, whether you are in his corner or not, is a sui generis—a one-of-a-kind, bigger than life, singular energetic force. President Trump's energy fills not merely a room, not merely a stadium, but fills—more like occupies—a mythological space in our modern, post-modern, or whatever we call this New Era in which we live, perhaps, let's call it the Post-COVID Era."
:roflol:
That's surely a joke, right? It can't be the official Whitehouse gift shop, can it?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_...l%20government.
Real as fuck.
Regardless of my thoughts on The Donald in general, I actually largely agree with this.
So we just diagnose people based on a thirty second clip of them stood on a balcony waving now, do we? And then present that diagnosis as fact on national television? Great. This really doesn't "clearly" show anything. She sounds so pleased with herself when she says "he doesn't look well!" too. What a twat.
The state of that dyke. Give her a She's All That makeover, replace that fucking frilly number with a low-cut top and she wouldn't need to beg for attention through left-wing politics.
Speaking of which. This Linda Bauld looks like a proper little minx in some of her appearances on TV recently. Proper botox-ridden purveyor of A2M services
Who is he saluting in that picture? And is there some poor dress Marine out in the Rose Garden having to return it?
Abe Lincoln's face appeared in the clouds.
The BBC has well and truly gone to the gutter.
So long as you’re woke in all the right places then you need no other standards.
It's what 24 hour news coverage does to you. There is not 24 hours of news.
On the BBC, get a load of the David Dimbleby trending video on twitter. The content is shite and I don't really care that the producers have told the presenter to shut him down on The One Show. I'm pissing myself silly at who the presenter is.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EkAmSvoX...jpg&name=large
100% he hasn't tested negative.
He isn't even symptom free, according to that. Unless improved means symptoms are gone.
He'd have to be an idiot to say anything else. Right Wing Conspiracy nuts are his bag.
The way he says paedophilia is the funniest thing he’s done in his entire presidency.
Of course but the manner is lol. These people do not operate with reason. He could simply have come out with "I'm not going to get drawn in to denouncing every minority group's ideologies or else we'd be here for much longer than even you'd want me here Savannah HAHAHAHA *wink* *bag pussygrabbing opportunity in dressing room afters*". Not "they're against paedos. I support that" :D
Why does he say it like he's trying to induct her into a cult?
As if he wasn't enough of a cunt already it turns out he's French.
That might be second only to that fast food picture.
‘You might be wondering how I got here...’
Nothing is funnier than Trumps ongoing war against toilets being too weak for his huge shits. It’s so funny every time.
If I didn't know any better I'd be convinced that was a great deepfake.
The truck ones are still my favourites: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...-rigging-video
Him in Saudi Arabia holding the orb is a classic of its genre.
https://static01.nyt.com/images/2017...superJumbo.jpg
"Mr. Trump believes the orb gives him sexual powers."
I think this might be his saltiest tweet ever.
Justice Barrett. Lol
What a shit show of a country.
Why? She is perfectly qualified.
That's pretty ridiculous. Bunch of voter fraud I would assume.
https://www.newsweek.com/trump-campa...t-real-1543349
The Celebrity Tracker lists Ronda Rousey as:
"Publicly supported Democratic Party candidate Bernie Sanders for 2016 election. Anti-feminist view at times. Arrested during WWE event in 2019."
Oh dear.
Biden to win Texas is 3.7 on Betfair, almost had a dabble earlier.
When is this counted and over?
Polls close on Tuesday night their time (maybe early hours Wednesday British Isles time).
Polls close? How long do they get to vote? I was sure I seen Trump doing his in a library nearly a week ago.
Yet it will probably take a while to get the results thanks to the lolfest that is the postal service.
How does voting work over there? Do you need a specific ID, or anything goes like here? In Mexico we had a specific ID from the federal electoral institute.
Can I get my usual 12-9 sleep on Tuesday night or do I need to set an alarm for some juicy 5/6am action?
The definition of 'scenes':
http://www.wnd.com/files/2016/11/NYT-election-odds.jpg
:harold:
This story of a Philly Police Union posting about about they found a 'small child walking barefoot through the street' during a protest. Weird but fine.
It being revealed that, in fact, the Police smashed someones car windows in and kidnapped the child from the car for said post. Weird and very not fine.
Quote:
On Thursday, the nation’s largest police union posted a photo to social media taken during the unrest in Philadelphia this week, where hundreds of protesters clashed with officers over the police killing of Walter Wallace Jr. The Fraternal Order of Police’s posts showed a Philadelphia police officer holding a Black toddler clinging to her neck.
“This child was lost during the violent riots in Philadelphia, wandering around barefoot in an area that was experiencing complete lawlessness,” the union claimed in a tweet and Facebook post that have since been deleted. “The only thing this Philadelphia police officer cared about in that moment was protecting this child.”
But lawyers for the boy’s family say that story was a total fabrication.
In fact, they say police yanked the boy from the back seat of an SUV after busting all of the windows and violently arresting and injuring his mother, who was later released without charges.
“It’s propaganda,” attorney Riley H. Ross III told The Washington Post. “Using this kid in a way to say, ‘This kid was in danger and the police were only there to save him,’ when the police actually caused the danger. That little boy is terrified because of what the police did.”
What timezone is that Pepe? I'll set my alarm to whatever that 9pm translates to. And let me just say, there's not enough hot cum in me to withstand a Don victory speech.
It was the NYT, I believe, so Eastern time.
1am. Probs stay up till 3 and go from there.
I would stay up but the UK coverage tends to be absolutely nauseating, with Marcus on the BBC saying 'Gee-oh-pee' in his public school drawl fresh off a toilet cubicle flirt with the Camberwell marching powder, and Jeremy Vine or some other cunt shouting at me trying to explain what a swing state is for the 15th time that evening, all to the tune of patronising gospel music and soft focus stills of Obama.
Might go the other way and get up at 4am for the fun stuff.
You don't need ID here, in fact as long as you know your address it's fine. No queues either, walk straight in and it takes about a minute. Normally in walking distance of home too.
I have some time off next week so I might watch some of this if I can find a way to stream a decent channel.
I've booked monday, tuesday and wednesday off so I can fuck my sleeping pattern to stay up and watch it.
Is that really the best use of holiday time?
I've got plenty to use up.
Staying up to watch the election results of a country you don't live in is a bit sad, booking half a week off work for it is mental.
Who tf are you two to decide whats a good use of holiday or not?
Me on the other hand? Yeah, I probably would have said Wed alone is enough but if you had to take 3 days, it was either this or that belting triple header of nights at Thompsons and, well...#otc
Don't they keep counting into December? You could be waiting a while for an actual result.
I've got Wednesday off to watch it.
What time are we likely to start to know?
:rosebud:
What's its rep? I just recall crawling into there at some dodgy hour and hearing a belting set from some DJ and tearing up the place. They must still talk about me in those quarters to this day.
Fiat 500 girls and spiceboys. You'd love it.
Inject it into me intravenously
I don't think I've even bothered staying up for a UK election once the exit poll is announced.
I think the only one I intended to stay up for was 2015. 2010 I ended up doing because of the DRAMA; 2017 I wanted to make sure the exit poll was wrong (which we can look back on and be happy about); and I think I went to bed relatively early last time. I don't think I intended to stay up for either of the big ones in 2016 but the lols kept me going. I could have stayed up for a week for the 'Hillary' concession speech that never happened.
I stayed up for the Brexit Referendum result, but that was due to my wife being at her mums (it was the night before her sisters wedding) and me being home alone with my colicky 3 month old daughter.
I was at Glastonbury for the Brexit referendum with money on Remain at Evens, that was some hangover.
Oof.
Yeap
I am not American.
I do not get a vote.
Or a gun?
I thought it was super easy for illegal aliens to vote regardless?
All those Russians voted last time.
Just do a voter fraud.
Back over the wall with ya.
Nah I’m voting tomorrow
Can you please livestream any ruckus at your polling place?
Oh for sure buddy tho I make it tradition to get up real early and go so I’m hoping to beat any morons
Who are you voting for Bruh?
Unless there has been a truly catastrophic polling error (as in, far greater than the 2016 one), Donaldinho has had it I think. And yet there Sleepy Joe is, available at 1.51 on Betfair.
That sounds like good value.
Tbh, the court cases and challenges could make this very messy for a very long time. Trolland won't give up easily.
I reckon they'll give in easier than people think. They (like the wacko left) are happier as a protest group with a grievance to whinge about / create conspiracy theories about than they are being in government. There will be loads of 'regime moderates' keen to stick the boot in for a 2024 run as well. If Donald loses then he is out the way, Biden has a hospital pass (and will probably soon be in a hospital), and the way could be clear for an ambitious someone else.
What could Tronnie do anyway? Lock himself in the White House while the "Proud Boys" (the ten of them) defend him?
Will there be any rioting?
1.51 does sound tempting, but to sit through the whole thing only to lose a significant amount of money and see Donald win again is a double whammy I'm not willing to risk.
If Trump loses he'll just stand on a podium and do his standard "WE DID GREAT WORK AND YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST AND FANTASTIC." speech. The only thing they'll change is the "We've got a lot of work to do / We did all we could." bit at the end.
What is the criteria for payout from that bet though? Whoever gets inaugurated in January?
All 1.51 is suggesting is there's a clear chance of scenes. The market never lies baby
All the people backing Trump are on the same betting sites as you. It's rampant across all the prediction sites. It's easy money.
I'm tempted then I remember the moment the exit poll was announced in 2017 and more hundreds than I'd care to admit were lost. That was easy money too. :D
2016 v 2020
https://i.imgur.com/xEMMoKA.png
https://i.imgur.com/eaC1sNL.png
Obviously it can still happen, 10% probability events happen all the time, but it's not the same scenario as 2016. Single biggest difference is that nobody thinks Biden is the devil incarnate like they did with Clinton.
Something will have to go horribly wrong in Pennsylvania for Trump to win, and I just can't see it.
Even when I give him Florida, Arizona and NC he hasn't got enough. Like fuck is he winning the northern three (soz I make up my own geographical regions as not even the Americans seem to agree on what the 'mid west' is).
lol at all the 'Will he accept defeat?' punditry coming from exactly the same people who haven't accepted that he beat them.
Shouldn't we have an election night new thread on this?
I think we should exorcise the ghosts in this one.
@Bartholomert
I'm quite hyped for tomorrow, but I don't have the snacks yet.
Those COVID stockpiling wankers had better be holding fire for now.
I'm trying to make myself tired tonight, so I go to bed early tomorrow and then wake up at 3am to catch a few hours before work.
A flawless plan on every level.
I don't mean to shit on peoples chips here but with the huge amount of early voting, the exit polls will be complete nonsense right?
I've dragged my bedtime later tonight in hope of doing likewise tomorrow. If 2am ain't enough tomorrow we're gonna have trouble in Don Towers.
Also, I just caught Episode 3 (not watched 1 or 2) of The Trump Show on iplayer and it's fantastic foreplay for tomorrow, highly recommend.
Just doing a bit more reading and is it fair to say that the actual favourite in this election is 'legal wrangle'?
Legal rangle in a GOP stacked Supreme court because RBG didnt retire under Obama.
Andrew Neil is doing the Beeb's all night coverage. Hold me.
So as we’ve arrived. What was the funniest moment/highlights of the campaign?
It’s been a bit of a barren year outside of him shouting about Toilets imo. Nothing on the scale of ‘being accused of secretly dying and then passing out on 9/11’
A legal wrangle will happen if it's quite close, especially if it all is coming down to Pennsylvania. That's still less likely, by the odds, than Biden winning with some DAYLIGHT between him and Trump. And at that point, I think that Trump probably wouldn't pull any dictator moves. He'll talk about how the election was STOLEN and try to lay the groundwork for a 2024, but he won't actually refuse to leave.
If it's close though, yeah, rip.
My head leans two ways on this:
They’ve telegraphed their move so hard that stuff like Harris County’s 120k votes can’t be chucked out because people are watching. Or.
Corruption is so obvious these days and there is little to no repercussions for it so just do it and be legends.
Biden wins because Trump has pissed off too many neo-cons.
18 Trump rallies
30 000 covid cases
700 deaths
:|
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mVa8Yh6AKU
Trump's last campaign rally
Might just be me but he sounds a little elegiac. Reminds me of my grandpa when he went senile, yet was still conscious enough to know he was on the way out.
"Joe Biden is promising to delay the vaccine and turn America into a prison state"
Hopefully someone will do a documentary comparing Hitlers propaganda with Trumps. Rambling nonsense over and over and over.
Lil Pump :face:
I like how Trump called him 'Lil Pimp'
That was a good bit. :D
If Biden gets in, do the Democrats go after Trump with investigations for the acts he committed while in office? Or do they just forgive and move on? Does Trump go back to his dodgy business deals? Or another Apprentice spinoff?
How old is Biden exactly? He looks like he could start rigor mortis at any moment.
Little Pimp :D
Fuck off Labor save it untill after the election.
https://i.ibb.co/GRSCP4F/Screenshot-...6-Facebook.jpg
Joe Kamala and the Democrats should be the name of a band with an obscure one-hit wonder from the 70s.
:D
With their Vietnam protest song.
On the subject of not dying, it was brought to my attention the other day that Bob Dole is still alive. So is his campaign website from 1996: http://www.dolekemp96.org/main.htm
The games aren't up. :( I was looking forward to that crossword.
I was going to guess 78.
He probably won't die (or do two terms) but he'll be senile as fuck if he does. Seems well on the way there already.
How's the free money scene at the moment? I'm slightly sceptical that some 80m odd of the 100m votes already cast aren't Tronald votes from [the other] Pepe. I think him stealing the election with mass fraud and then being found out would be the perfect way for this whole thing to end.
He's gone way out to 1.62 now. I'm not really sure why (well, loads of money clearly going on Trump, but not sure WHY), will have to look into it.
Bernie is 79 apparently. He seems much better value for it than Biden. And Trump, come to think of it. The worlds favourite nuclear superpower is exclusively ran by geriatrics, apparently.
Bernie is sharp.
Easily the best choice out of the 3.
Kamala - Trump JR for 2024.
I dont think so.
Donald Trump Jr? At least Donald Trump Sr has a bit of charisma.
I'm joking . It'll be Ivanka.
No scenes at the polls but tbf I live in a fairly calm district these days
:D
Might actually miss him if he goes.
That was already brilliant before I noticed at about 1 minute in that it wasn't an internet prankster and he'd actually posted it himself.
As The Trump Show touched on, he's been absolutely brilliant at playing social media. Shame he's a complete lunatic really.
Nothing will top the dog tweet, the one where he redacted it's name.
That's it.
:D
Fuck it. 4 more years.
What is the crack with Trump and The Village People? Are they the only artists left (assuming they are left) who will let him use their music? Seems so bizarrely incongruous.
Right, plan for tonight is to nap for 4 hours now and then hit the supermarche for snacks, before bedding down for an all-nighter.
If I somehow sleep through my alarm, enjoy the scenes.
That's what I'm doing too, except the snacks are already in. Herb-stuffed mushrooms for a Biden win, crappy biscuits dunked in a giant jar of Nutella if Trump dons it.
Where is everyone watching it?
In my living room.
Hold on, it's tonight? I had the all nighter planned in for tomorrow? This has just turned into a slog, but I'm riding it out.
Fucking hell lads. :face:
I'm going to ride this until 1 then calling it a night.. probably.
Is anything likely to be known until about 6am anyway? The West Coast polls can't close until around midnight, surely?
Nothing will be known until Sunday or something.
Or maybe it will. I don't know/care.
Some important states will start giving hints around 1-2 UK time, and then for about 3 hours from then is sort of the "main event" in terms of KEY RACE ALERT™.
I will exercise my right to sleep.
My mate has bet Ł42k on Biden to win predicting a landslide (412-113). The man has balls of steel.
Even more bonus upside if Trump wins and the world burns then.
Bankers really are the worst.
I had another chunk of 1.62 earlier on Biden and from here we live or die. If we do strike the iceberg, the band will play on.
He's not a banker, most of it is credit card debt :-/
Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia VOTES come in at midnight.
Credit card debt. :(
Is your friend ok?
He will be if Biden wins. For a while anyway.
He takes pretty bold monetary moves when he believes in something. He runs a proptech start up so I'm hoping he's got the reserves if it does go Pete Tong.
Gave me chills.
Edit: Good news all around if wins.
No one is here, Queenie. No one. Gambling running riot in lockdown.
Taking a tentative look into American twitter, it really is terrifyingly bad. Puts our own idea of 'divisive' into perspective, the Leave/Remain fight is handbags at dawn in comparison. The Trump lot are loudmouth as fuck, I slightly fear for some of their mental states if Sleepy Joe wins.
I've really fucked up with not sneaking in a trip to the Turkish supermarket, I'd suck numerous dicks for a bag of salted sunflower seeds :(
ffs Taz :D
Trump is clearly a helmet, but I must admit, part of me wants him to win just so I can get the popcorn out for the fallout.
Fox viewers are apparently socialists.
That's from their exit poll isn't it? Fox viewers probably want to put immigrants on the menu at Wendy's.
My word I fucked up further not saving extra in the tank for Katty Kay
Right, I'm on.
No snacks so we're relying on Dominos abusing minimum wage workers into the early hours, but other than that all good.
This coverage is not surprisingly more dull compared to the UK so far.
Here we go!
Trump 11-0.
Andrew lad get your fucking hands off her, you sly dog.
Fox has got 16 - 8 to Biden
My sources tell me Biden has taken many suburbs that Hillary lost in Kentucky. Everyone round Kiko's mate's for jagers and hookers.
The Austistic bloke we use for our elections has predicted 190 - 77 so far to Biden.
Joe still 1.46 if anyone wants to ride the midnight train to Georgia.
https://i.imgur.com/LeEZWKj.png
Kanye is gonna take it.
Fox has Georgia to Biden by a big margin.
Ł100 on Sleepy Joe.
Biden has atrocious numbers in Miami compared to Clinton.
Cancel the speedboat.
Lads, listen to David James ffs, you absolute addicts.
Florida is Trump's. Biden evens by 1am.
He's drifted out to 1.61 now :uhoh:
Fucking hell, I ain't getting no sleep am I :happycry:
He'll be back in later.
I'm not putting any more money on this but for someone who really knew what they were doing, you could make an absolute killing.
Trump will get Florida. NC and Georgia the ones to watch
Our Americans are saying Trump wins Florida.
Something else. :D
1.73 on Betfair's Sportsbook :uhoh:
My arsehole is getting twitchy.
Follow the exchange, not the sportsbook. Sportsbook is just a Paddy Power skin.
I would be doubling down now if I had any more money. Not many Cubans in Pittsburgh
We had an ASIO bloke talking quite sensibly about how difficult Trump has been in communication with us and other allies then the Trump lady tried to talk over him despite it not being a 3 person conversation. Instantly cut her feed then fact checked her bullshit.
Biden is now 1.73.
What the fook is going on?
1.78 on the Exchange :uhoh:
Looks like Trump's won Florida.
1.92, holy shit.
He'll need to lose in a white place to go outside evens.
Can see him losing the golf cart vote i.e. Arizona as well as Florida. However, Mexicans are not Cubans.
I have plenty tied up in this already so not putting any more in, but if I were Mr Moneybags I would be printing money right now and putting it all on Biden.
If I'm wrong and Donald wins then it's the end for political polling, by which I don't mean 'ooh they got it wrong again', I mean everyone is fired and the industry collapses in flames.
Mitch McConnell retains
Checking in.
I wonder whether all these polling companies just hang around University Campuses in Vermont.
The Sassy ASIO bloke just lolled at all the Democrats rallying around War Criminal George Bush while criticising Trump in the same breath.
Top banter.
Texas going blue.
What station are we all watching it on? I'm currently on Sky News, but I see everybody has a stream. Unfortunately, can't get a legit BBC stream...
https://gyazo.com/2bac4a4d4c9dde276f020931a1dc934a.jpeg
Link to stream?
New California
One thing that always seems weird to me in these elections is that the west is still voting while eastern results are coming in, but I guess it's unavoidable.
I'm not watching any stream, just have 100 pseph sites up like a loser.
Biden looking strong, I'm out.
1.55
Biden back to 1.57.
1.44
Florida means fuck all until it's declared. In 2000 the news was all over the shop as the count shifted back and forth. Bush was 100,000 ahead in Florida, Gore conceded the presidency and then withdrew that when it turned out there was nothing in it. If Biden is close to evens get on.
What time is Lord Buckethead on?
Whoops. Nevermind.
ABC update 203 143
Has to be said, if Trump loses there will be a tinge of sadness. I know he's deranged and quite clearly dangerous, but he's been fantastic entertainment over the last four years.
True. He's not exactly gonna go and live on his Texan ranch. Fetch me the popcorn.
Looks like there's a pretty decent chance that white suburban voters will deliver the election to Biden despite Trump's Latino-driven surge. I don't even...
Williamson County in Texas looks like it will be blue for the first time since 1976.
Trump won by 10 points 4 years ago.
I'm still seeing 1.79 on the Betfair exchange.
That Conway mong said that Trump is due to speak shortly
Just Cubans not Mexicans.
I assume all he would say is Castro over and over.
Castro's dead!
Maybe people are a LOT simpler than I think they are, in a nice way.
EDIT: I forgot there's another Castro. We don't hear anything about Cuba over here.
Cubans are hardcore Republicans. Probably more Republican than the Ku Klux Klan demographic
Good to see 60 year old Aussie boomers trolling the ABC about American politics on Facebook and Instagram. :happycry:
Biden at 1.99 now on exchange.
Heck.
Iceberg ahoy
2.4 :uhoh:
Kiko's mate has picked up a blade.
Is that just a reaction to Texas going red? I don't see the numbers that indicate Don just became favourite.
If it's a reaction to Texas going red then the market is clueless, they should be looking at Ohio.
I have a really uneasy feeling in my tummy.
Just saw 2.6 for Joe on Betfair. Wow.
2.94, the fuck?
Didn't expect to click on the Betfair tab I have open and see Trump favourite.
Biden was just at 3.05.
Almost 2/1 for Biden now. Christ.
I'm really, really curious what these markets are seeing right now. Another bookie is moving the same way.
Absolute bloodbath, somebody must know something about Pennsylvania or Ohio.
I've cut my losses, I'll still win overall if Biden pulls it but I'm not willing to sit here at 2.30am and watch a train wreck in slow motion. Now to put the BBC on and watch them lose their minds
I've still got the Beeb on and haven't really seen anything that would indicate that, so what do they know?
Are other networks releasing less confirmed results?
The confirmed results are irrelevant, what matters is the following states:
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Arizona
Michigan
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Joe needs, I think, five of those six.
Wisconsin and Minnesota to Trump is my guess.
Incidentally I think the current nearly 3 for Biden is insanely high.
I did the Guardian election predictor the other day and gave Trump Florida. He still won having taken, as Jimmy points out, I think five of the six key states. That was simply based on increased difference in the polls compared to the fine margins of victory in 2016. I've just had Biden @ 3.1 on Betfair.
Jump on boys.
Stuck another Ł20 on Biden at 2.8
Pardon my ignorance Jim, but how many of those states did Trump win last time?
Some knobhead on Sky News claiming that if Trump wins he will "enter a state of mourning and then put together plans to leave the country, and move to a more democratic society".
No, you won't.
Just turned on the BBC and the coverage is unwatchable, complete embarrassment, did they even do any research between them?
The BBC coverage is pretty shit. Apparently CNN is good but I can't get it on my tv and I'm using my laptop to post/bet/read news sites. Is Sky any good?
And if they got Florida wrong, why are all of the rest right?
3.7...
Right, I'm out.
https://i.ibb.co/8jWX09K/bidentrump.jpg
Suspect this will end up being a much better result than the one had I gone to bed.
Polls fully in the bin after tonight, then.

Australian Broadcast Corporation has it 212-109 Biden
They feel comfortable calling states early for some reason.
Biden at 4.7 on Betfair now.
Jesus.
Time to go sleep. See you all tomorrow for the lolfest.
Looking good for Biden in Arizona. There's hope yet.
You'd think the fact that the 'right' consistently outperforms the polls right across the anglosphere (and possibly beyond) might teach these people something, but of course it doesn't.
Right, bedtime at last.
Just stuck a fiver on Trump. I've had such a jinxed year that it pretty much guarantees Biden as the next president. If not, I'm Ł1.66 richer.
Have all you fannies gone to bed?
I'm still here. Lol'ing at the Guardians outright refusal to even suggest that Trump is in with a chance.
I'm here. Looking like legal wrangle is back in the race.
It's coming back to Biden. 5/4
Yep off to the stacked Supreme Court.
RIP RBG
I tried going to sleep but couldn't.
Starting to get spicy now.
Biden takes Arizona.
Edit: According to Fox. AP not yet called it.
This chap is the best bit of the BBC show by a mile.
Almost neck and neck in the betting now.
The Mooch on the Beeb.
Quite like him after watching a bit of that The Trump Show on iPlayer.
I think Sleepy Joe has it. Just.
Fox News has Biden at 223. Let's assume he holds Nevada, Hawaii and Minnesota that takes him to 243 add the extra from Nebraska to go to 244.
I think he then takes 2 of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania which would put him over the edge. Could take the second bit of Maine too for an extra 1.
The 269 all isn't actually that unlikely now, is it?
Democrats picking up +1 in the Senate
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...&state=default
NYT has gone from Trump 90% to take Georgia to Joe at 62% now.
They have NC drifting in now too.
Who up.
Biden making a statement soon. Probably a "let's wait and get all the votes counted" to pre-empt anything sneaky from Trump.
237 210 to Biden on Fox
The longer this night goes on the more I'm on Don's wavelength when it comes to Katty Kay.
Trump would have been lambasted for coming out with this shit.
Saying you're on track to win at this stage, when it's as close as it is, should not be happening.
And now Trump's upped the ante.
Shambles.
Uh oh.
He tweeted this at first with 'Poles' instead of 'Polls'. Then he tweeted that version and deleted the old one. Lol.
This is scenes. Mon civil war.
Are all you mad cunts still up?
I was about to go to bed but then Biden was making a statement and then Trump tweeted so now I'm still up waiting to see if the civil war kicks off.
I left my bedroom heater on and woken up at 5am with all body moisture dried up like my mother's menopausal vaginal passage but what a touch. We out here now.
Hang on, why have I woken up again for work (after my optimised 2.5 hours sleep) and Sleepy Joe is suddenly having a chance in Georgia? Stupid yanks, I wanted a full day's hand-wringing from the global soft left.
Is this just massively in the balance still or what's coming next?
And yes my mate is "bloody scared".
I'd the anothor 4 years of Trump and a Third World War just to watch your mate get fucked over like he deserves.
It's one to double down on credit card debt...
Donald out.
After 3 days of postal vote counting it is off to the Courts
I have no idea what he’s on about.
Off to the Supreme Court to stop the counting!
#RBG
They are amazing. The lies to pretend they're doing the opposite of what they're actually doing is just amazing.
This was predictable weeks ago.
No, he based his bet on the thought that Biden was going to walk it so got on the 1.51 odds or whatever it was.
Apologies, the way I read your initial post I thought he wasn't just predicting a landslide but backing it. The dream lives on.
My two half baked thoughts as to things I didn't see/appreciate before results:
- Starting from an outside perspective or a rational one perhaps, it's easy to overlook just how exciting a candidate Trump is. He properly fires up a large sector of the pop and they adore getting out to vote for him, in a way that wouldn't happen without his straight-shooting stardust
- BLM I think extremely costly for the Dems. If there's one thing the above people don't like, it's being lectured at for months on end. Tough break for black people I guess but the brutal truth in a democracy is it's about doing what you have to do to win power so that you can put your policies in place. Everyone is a saint in opposition.
I think it's mostly just that alot of people don't want to admit to voting for him. It was the same with Brexit. I bet there's a lot of people claiming to be remainers that put their cross in the leave box on the night, they just don't want the stigma.
Yes (I mean, I'm one of them, with Brexit. It's not worth the hassle admitting I voted Leave). The left might want to consider that it is they who create this stigma - often with great aggressive vigour - and it is also what causes them such abject disappointment on a consistent basis.
I work with one of them, she had a massive pop at our Irish coworker for saying he voted leave and doesn't regret it. She even wheeled out the 'No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs' line whilst telling him he should know better.
She's a massive Corbyn fan predictably (or she was, I haven't seen her since March).
"Aggressive vigour" is unfortunately just the default flavour of discourse now, it's not exclusive to the left.
Pennsylvania not looking great for Biden, that's bad right?
Loads of postal votes outstanding.
I assume those are being doused in lighter fluid as we speak.
https://gyazo.com/697d1d115ee7b28b814d8b039fd96a30.jpeg
Clinging on to hope.
What has Trump actually done in his four years? He had the travel ban at the start of it and then .... erm .... the response to Covid?
Michigan is gonna be crucial. I can’t see Joseph clawing back in Pennsylvania
Without Pennsylvania, he will need two of Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia. With Pennsylvania, he'll need one of them. None are looking amazing.
Tax cuts and whistling to the White Supremacists
I'll be fucked if I'm making sense out of any of this shit today on so few hours sleep. Just give me the blood on the streets.
4 more years?
Keeks mate must have the rope secured to the light fitting by now.
Nah, if he's that deep in credit card debt, he doesn't see it as his money he's lost.
I mean he’s done a hell of a lot, just most of it has been a net global negative
Yeah the hypothetical of what this would have looked like without Covid is actually mind-blowing.
Biden is still 2/1. I don't know enough about US Politcs to know why, but everything I've read seems to suggest he should be the favourite from here when you consider the outstanding votes that need counting.
Scores on the doors?
Biden 227-213 Trump
Wisconsin swinging back to Biden as the votes are counted.
What Trump does is he makes a large section of the population feel extremely happy, something that I definitely underestimated.
"Free Money" has to be the most dangerous phrase ever.

How much are you in for Kik's?
Ł110 on Biden.
Biden odds on for first time in about 8hrs...
It's nearly crossed over again now ffs.
A narrow Biden win is probably at the optimum popcorn/avoiding apocalypse balance so well played all-round
No clue what is going to happen but everyone is aware MI, PA, an WI are all waiting on early votes to be counted because state legislatures required that vote to be counted day of and after in person. So it could swing quite a bit. GA is all Atlanta and NC is early votes that arrive the next couple days. And here in AZ there is still lots of early vote to count.
If Trump loses it is a big repudiation of just him; down ballot R’s have not lost much and even gained a bit in the House. We are just a heavily geographically sorted country that is really polarized and people don’t care very much about all this. So R’s come home because they don’t see how it all affects their lives and they are mostly not wrong.
It invalidates the shy Trump thing a bit to me. I get being shy about it in say New York but here in Phoenix? Until Trump showed up R’s hadn’t lost a statewide race for over 20 years.
We're back on
What I live for is David Lammy taking to twitter (he still very much 'takes to twitter') and making pompous statements at times like this. Thanks David, now I wonder what the Socialist MP for Bremen South thinks, or maybe the En Marche MP for La Rochelle West, someone of far more global importance than you.
I got on Biden at 2.54
Biden favourite for the first time in hours.
Joe's won it imo, although I should preface this with saying I am also in the office quoting people up for conrod bearings atm so who knows
The bookies really shat the bed after that Florida result. Trump may still win, but Biden's price had no right being the best part of 4/1.
What are the bookies offering for President Kanye? Astonishing racism that he's barely being discussed here.
Him not being on the ballot in the majority of the states because he didn't submit on time might be the big issue there.
Anyone voting for him wants gassing.
I've just Googled and apparently he got nearly 60,000 votes. Fuck's sake.
Is this the longest election in history?
In a Trump-Kanye two party election I reckon I'd be out there selling the MAGA hats and the orange face paint.
How do you run against an incumbent idiot and do this badly?
Out of interest Jimmy why do you think Trump would be better for the UK?
Than Kanye West?
In hindsight, this. I've been following this guy who was pretty confident all night that the market was being daft and is probably on at some of the best prices. Kind of thing that if you prepare for you'll make a killing.
Alright, I'm up. Give me the rundown lads.
One of the two geriatric white dudes is gonna win.
EDIT: Well, 'white' is perhaps not exactly the right term for Trump.
Go get a gun, Seattle is burning as we speak.
West is more obviously deranged, at least Trump is predictably self centred.
IF Biden wins this. Is Trump's claims of fraud an attempt to hang on the the presidency regardless, which he will them pursue through the courts as much and for as long as possible? Or simply him saving face?
It is just what Trump does.
He's clearly laying the groundwork for a defeat, if he wins he can simply brag about doing it against the odds. Somehow his support doesn't see this for the little bitch move that it is, or care that it makes their country look even more like a tin pot shit hole than the last four years have.
Have no fear, Joe has won it.
Biden massive favourite now.
Has somewhere else announced or updated the position?
1.38 for Biden now. Tempted to cash out for a cool Ł75 profit.
I jumped on about an hour ago. #StressFreeMoney
I've improved my Biden position to a profit of Ł2.57. Total stakes probably pushing a grand. What a waste of time.
Philadelphia has only reported 49%, they're going to swing Pennsylvania to Biden.
Because only a tiny percentage of the people who live in the 8 states that matter change vote based on the leader. Just today they voted in a Republican who died of COVID last month. Letter beside your name > name.
Biden is a joke candidate, he's just lucky to be up against an absolute car crash. Put him against Bush and he gets nowhere near the Whitehouse.
(That's not to say Bush wasn't a car crash, obviously)
Also we don't factor in that Trump is basically a psion for these people's hatred of other people and so they just assume he agrees with whatever opinion they have.
https://i.imgur.com/959Ov6h.png
It's probably not going to end up being particularly close. Florida, a massive outlier, coming first really skewed perceptions.
Looks like that's Blockbusters then.
Bring on Trump getting frog marched from the whitehouse and the prosecutions gearing up again when he's finally out.
Where's that tweet when you need it.
All a bit tragic now.
The tears
That first one is basically a concession.
In fairness to him, the way they count and report the votes is an absolute shambles.
He also spent months telling his supporters that mail ballots were fraudulent, it can't be that shocking to discover not many are for him.
Didn't he spend ages telling people not to vote by post? But now he's surprised that the postal votes aren't going his way?
Edit: there's an echo in here apparently
They've probably had to explain to him many times why mail votes were bad for them and he's still too thick to get it.
I'm imagining "When I press your foot and say 'Hello, Mr Thompson'"-type scenes.
Christ I hope he manages to con them into 4 more years.
Still 1 million mail in votes in Pennsylvania and Biden has so far been taking 70% of the mail votes there.
Trump holds a 500k lead there but if Biden's numbers hold he's taking it.
He's not exactly going to go back to anonymous golf holidays and a book deal. The man will tour the heartlands holding these events and attempt to overthrow the government.
Yeah, I was wondering that. At first I thought he'd just be off back to Trump Tower/that Florida place he likes, but the more I think about it, the more I imagine he's now just going to start the Trump 2024 campaign asap.
He's gonna be in dire need of cash to fight all his legal battles and pay off debt, so he'll do events with entrance fees and start a super PAC or something to grift some more.
If there's the motivation there (I'm sure there is) and it's 'appropriate' to prosecute an ex-president (I'm less convinced), he'll probably be in prison by 2024.
Let's be realistic, he's not going to be in dire need of cash.
Dipping in and out of the CNN coverage all day I dearly hope Biden wins. They won't know what to do with themselves if they're confronted by another 4 years of Trump.
As for trials and shit, more likely the Republicans seize the house midterm and try to impeach Biden.
Lol, this election cycle is so silly. The results are really what you should have predicted all along since the primary. How it all happened feels totally bizarre.
Did people really think a party that isn’t even trying to win rural votes was winning Texas? Or flipping senate seats in R+15 states? We are just gonna keep repeating these cycles until one party legitimately tries to win the other sides voters. I’m skeptical of his tactics but Bernie did at least identify that.
Slovenian PM standing in solidarity with Melania and congratulating Trump on his victory is proper third world business :D
Biden is going to win Wisconsin because 1% of the state voted Libertarian instead of Trump :D
I never dared to dream, but Trump winning with 'Latino' votes would be unimaginably hilarious. Pepe would wake up white.
Whittling it down to 'descendants of slaves' or whatever it is to even edge African migrants out had me lolling when I first saw it. Donal Trom has your back lad, and so does the rest of the white community.
Those Nigerians getting in the way do need to be dealt with.
What’s the actual story for the layman now because Twitter is just everyone claiming their own favourite has already won.
They're still counting in the last few states.
Biden is in a good position but still a few days away from knowing.
Biden should have it.
Looks like Michigan and Wisconsin have gone blue and then he just needs 1 of Nevada, Georgia and Pennsylvania (assuming Arizona is blue like a lot of outlets have).
If the other lad isn’t on for stepping down will the military get to remove him?
He stops being the president by default in Jan 21 so he can kick and scream all he wants but then I guess the secret service would remove him.
He'll leave in an orderly fashion but send contradictory tweets.
Apparently the highest voter turn out in history, with Biden having the most votes ever and Trump having the most votes of any loser. He'll find a way to spin that and his conspiracy nonsense and leave with his 'head held high'.
New York Times is listing Wisconsin as DONE. So are AP:
Federalism.
What odds can I get on Biden dying in office?
https://i.imgur.com/oS1JR54.png

lol.
Is this going to end up being a comfortable win for Biden that only seemed close because of the delays in counting the mail in ballots?
I hope so because a narrow win means we'll never hear the end of it.
The President of the United States. It sounds like a 12 year old trying to use interesting words in a SATs essay.
It's clearly someone else sending them whilst he's doing whatever, and whoever it is they get his tone all wrong.
Is Gazza about to turn up on Pennsylvania Avenue with a roast chicken and some tinnies?
President Biden

I just don't even know how to do it.

It's not rocket science.
I quoted your own and copied but it still doesn't do it?

Smiff, there's a number in each tweet link. Copy just that and stick it in between the tags above, removing the space in the first one.
[tweet] also works.
Wish Trump had won after seeing that.
Pennsylvania and Georgia coming in
I think Biden takes Nevada, Arizona and Penn to give him 290.
The exchange on Betfair is now favouring Biden (1.83) to take Georgia.
Trump's team has now put in a lawsuit against Georgia.
It's not even going to be close in the end and no-one likes a loser whinging about it. Cut your losses and give Stormy a call Donnie.

I'm sure I've done it before.
'tweet', not 'twitter'
Is there one for Facebook?
I don't believe so.
Damn.

:D simpler, happier times.
Lots of ppl (Nate Silver) losing confidence about Biden keeping Arizona. Don't know why, I'm pretty sure the remaining votes come from D areas and absentee ballots
Sounds feasible. Had Biden @ 3.1 on the night. Just hedged with Trump @ 6.4 :drool:Quote:
As Maricopa County released the results from 140,000 more ballots on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, president Donald Trump received almost the exact share he would need to charge back to win Arizona’s 11 electoral votes and potentially reelection.
Trump won the batches of ballots from Maricopa County counted Wednesday and early Thursday by a roughly 57-40 margin over former vice president Joe Biden.
Those votes — likely early ballots sent to the county on Monday and Tuesday — narrowed Biden’s lead over Trump in Arizona to 68,000 votes, when his lead had been more than 90,000 votes earlier Wednesday.
Paul Bentz, a Republican pollster with the consulting firm HighGround, said Trump needs to win 57.6% of the 470,000 votes that the Arizona Republic estimates remain to be counted.
“That’s almost exactly what he got in the first batch,” Bentz said. “He could do it.”
This is kinda hypnotic.
That's face melting stupidity. Fuck me.
Elected to office three times, a number I'm not certain he could count to.
Is that super old or has it happened twice?
EDIT: OLD
I'd not seen that before, that is excellent.
Stunning.
That is good.
As is the guy walking through the back at 1.08 on Boydy's.
Ł40 on Biden to win Georgia @ 1.7.
How has no decent mentalist done a Columbine on one of these counting centres yet?
What’s the story now lads?
Still counting the last few states, Biden almost certainly the winner.
The Pennsylvania secretary of state reckons they might be able to finish counting most of their votes by the end of the night.
If Biden wins (which looks very likely) he's won.
It feels like it should be done by now so I'm still braced for all outcomes.
Trump is still ahead in Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania (which would give him the win) isn't he?
He is but that would not give him the win. He would also need Arizona or Nevada.
No.
He'd still need one of Nevada or Arizona.
He doesn't look likely to hold Georgia and Pennsylvania anyway.
The one thing I don't understand is every shot of the counting centres has about 6 people not doing anything with any sense of urgency. Get a fucking move on you mongs.
Biden needs 58-61% of the remaining votes in Pennsylvania to take it and he's been taking around 75% of the votes in the last 24 hours.
Biggest difference between the Trumpies and the OG Italian fascists is that, for all their noise, they still haven't been willing to go full blackshirt.
I'd say there's a pretty good chance Biden will win Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia, albeit by a tiny margin in Georgia.
And if that's the case, then you'd have to say this presidential election hasn't been particularly close, it's just been made to look that way by the unique timing of the ballot counting this year. But that false perception (that it was actually very close, and potentially even stolen by Democrats) will be enough to fuel the GOP fire for the next four years.
Yeah, it's like the Trumpettes got their votes in early and it's swung back the other way hard.
It's still a bit too close though isn't it bearing in mind how they framed it (and have constantly framed it). If you can only just win an existential 'unity' election it suggests their is a solid base for a less vulgar woman-friendly twat to blast you next time.
Definitely. It's clearly not the landslide which would wipe out Trumpism, as a lot had hoped, and Democrats are going to have to rethink a lot of their strategy now that they see that these Trump voters haven't magically disappeared. That reality check is probably a good thing going forward (if the DNC aren't too thick and useless to get it, which is possible).
All I'm saying is that the unique timeline along which things have unfolded plays particularly well into the Trump grievance complex. You're going to have a sizeable percent of the population who think this election was stolen, which wouldn't have happened if the results had been announced in reverse order (for example).
Everyone mugs off the vote count racing saddos in the UK election but now they have earned their smug satisfaction.
Proper cringing at my spelling mistake there. STOP THE THREAD!
It was actually intentional, the Republican-controlled state legislature in PA prevented them from beginning to count mail-in ballots until the polls had closed (compared to lots of other states which started way earlier). They knew that the 'red mirage' on election night might give Trump a chance to claim victory - at best to stop the counting, at worst to claim it had all been stolen from him.
I had an otherwise really intelligent friend of mine the other day still behoved to the notion that people voting for Trump are doing it as some sort of protest.
It's seemingly very hard for people to accept (let alone comprehend why) that he's fucking popular and people vote for him because they like him.
@Lewis
I think they should put much more faith in the state parties. I go to the party meetings here in Maricopa and the AZ state party has had a very clear plan that they have executed really well. It started a decade ago by winning a referendum on getting redistricting done not by the state legislature but by independent commission. That led to an environment where now 5 of 9 of the House delegation are D and one chamber of the state legislature may break D. They also prioritize Hispanic outreach through the Service Unions instead of walking around going “wow, you are brown let’s talk immigration!!!” This has helped pick up two straight statewide Senate wins and maybe the presidential. It is very impressive when you consider the last statewide win was in 92.
It is far more successful than the airlifted $150 million ad campaigns in Kentucky and South Carolina that are R+20 states. Build a grassroots party first. Otherwise you get a Biden which will sometimes win or lose. You’ll absolutely never get any of the progressive policies until you start being competitive in Kansas or Iowa. And it will just swing back to R’s in the next cycle.
Is there any tangible evidence for the insane ad spends in American politics making a blind bit of difference to anything?
Consultants have big homes?
Trump spent less in 2016; Biden spent the least in the primary. Money does help in two ways. At the national level we are just a massive country and money is needed to get enough name recognition if you are not a pre-aware brand. We had three popular governors (including from red states) and they couldn’t get the profile to compete in the primary. On a state level, lots of races for State Legislature or whatever are won simply because one side has a professional campaign (maybe 10-30k) and the other does not. It is how R’s racked up all those wins inside states.
Back to this point, I'm not sure how much the enthusiasm for Trump can just transfer to somebody else. He's a really unique candidate, and someone who's less vulgar and more woman-friendly would probably have a much harder time generating the kind of enthusiasm he does; people love him and despise him for exactly the same reasons.
That's probably going to be one of the biggest questions of the next few years, whether any other Republican can fill his place. Same problem with Bernie and the progressive left.
Bang on about Scooby Doo too.
Trump's lead down to 78k in Pennsylvania now
Looking at Betfair market and Kamala is coming in at 500s. If sleepy Joe wakes up no longer in the next 2 months, does it automatically become her?
Stick your house on it.
Edit: Scenario 4: https://www.vox.com/21502447/trump-b...h-what-happens
It seems that they don't really know what would happen. The Vice President Elect would be the logical choice but...
Trump to say some words at half past.
Those will be "Great. Thank you. BEST!"
Half past the current hour (so in just over 10 minutes) and it will probably be shown everywhere.
I'm watching CNN but I imagine all news outlets will show it.
The whole of twitter seems to be watching CNN. Why? This was over 36 hours ago.
I'm locked on to BBC. Out of baby oil so I've had to down a pint of milk to get the saliva consistency right. Let's go.
The numbers have always suggested that he does well in spite of himself, i.e. winning last time out with barely any more votes than the previous stiffs, and that people like Trumpism - border wall, [economic] nationalism, etc. - more than they like the silly bastard pushing it. He just had the force of personality to actually get it a hearing when it would normally be squashed by the party machine like when Pat Buchanan was advocating the exact same stuff in the nineties; but it is established now, and the 'Trump Republican' is a thing, so he has done his bit not unlike how Bernie 'Bernie' Sanders has made the pinko wing an on-going concern for his side.
From a voting point of view, the sort of people who get RIGHT INTO IT, with the pick-up trucks and the flags and all that shite, are overwhelmingly likely to vote Republican anyway (or at least for a 'Trump Republican'), so they just need someone to hold the rest of the Trump program[me] together to keep the wider working class vote intact. Get somebody ostensibly normal who still wants to kick immigrants and 'Big Tech' around and you're laughing, especially if the next Democrat candidate is some awful woman folding her arms at half the country (which it will be). Tom Cotton would be my early favourite, with his military background and ability to speak normally. They - both sides - need to study what has gone on here over the past few years, and our Conservative Party need to be watching with half an eye on what they replace Boris Johnson with.
The reason he's done so well though is because he's managed to get a HUGE turnout from farmers/hicks/mongs from backwater places, isn't it?
Would they still get that level of turnout from someone else?
I think you underestimate Trump's warlock-like powers as a hypnotist; when you ask supporters what they like about him, it's often precisely his refusal to "speak normally." I agree that someone like Cotton (alias @7om) is the natural choice as successor, and he's probably going to run, but I'm not sure he'll be able to generate the same cult-like enthusiasm as Trump does.
There's also definitely going to be some competition in terms of people trying to tie themselves to him, so the Trump conservatives won't necessarily all automatically unite.
@Lewis
He's fucking lost it. :D
Yeah, they like it; but 1) actual 'Trump supporters' are a small minority of his actual vote; and 2) they will still vote for the Republican Party if his successors is sufficiently pro-gun and anti-nonce. I suppose he was probably necessary in shaking things up and sticking rocket boosters on the re-alignment that had been going on for years, but the hard work has been done there, like how Brexit coaxed certain places into defying the Labour Party for the first time in their lives, so the first-timers and lifelong Democrats who you could say he won over are an easier win now.
Fake polls for fake news.
He's complaining about how one sided the postal votes are despite telling his supporters not to vote via mail...
This is immense.
Extreme projection within the anti nonce brigade.
It's like someone has challenged him to fill a certain amount of time.
They really are going to have to frog march him out, aren't they?
He's basically speaking in tongues. No wonder he does so well in West Virginia.
That last shenanigans line was mega.
We got Sad Donald  the trudge out the door at the end was great.
That was the best one yet and I say that as a man who stayed up forthe COVID ones in the great summer of 2020. So, so good.
Leading by just 3635 now in Georgia.
God I miss George Bush. He would have beaten the crap out of Biden.
He's played a blinder there though mind.
It's out there now, in all its glory, and we all know people listen to him, so what in the fuck is Biden supposed to do in response?
And imagine if one idiot somewhere, in isolation at a polling station, has tried to fiddle something and it's exposed?
Why is British twitter shitting itself at midnight about this? Go to bed you fucking morons.
He's not supposed to do anything. He'll wait until he wins the count, and then claim victory.
For all his bullshit about fraud and litigation, Trump looked utterly defeated there. Very "low energy".
I remember the days when I was called unhinged.
Game, set, match, Trump.
Why tf did I not run with "if you count the legal votes, I easily win" post Mod Idol? Absolute gold.
Also big lols were had with "Philadelphia and Detroit, two of the most politically corrupt regions. Even more so now."
Philadelphia and Detroit got any particularly noteworthy demographics?
Down to 42k in Pennsylvania as Biden took 87% of the latest votes counted.
It's all sports journos and things dishing out hot takes. We're way too obsessed with America. Anyone who points this out gets the old 'THIS AFFECTS ALL OF US', well, no it doesn't.
I have watched zero coverage other than results maps and I stopped looking at them 24 hours ago as it was all over.
This is Watergate for the Snapchat generation, man. Drink it in.
I'm all for no nonsense straight-talkin (lol) that broke the political mould and I love me a bit of good old fashioned misogyny and racism but they all saw the COVID pressers and 70m still voted for him :D He legitimately believes everything he says.
To the discussion of Trumpism after Trump:
TEXAS (97% in): Joe Biden has more votes in 2020 than Donald Trump got there in 2016.
Biden grew Clinton's TX vote from 3.88M to 5.22M (!).
But Trump grew his TX vote from 4.69M to 5.87M.
Florida too
Clinton got 4.5M and Biden has 5.3M; Trump has gone from 4.6M to 5.6M (with 96% in).
Yeah the turnout across the board has been impressive. I wonder if it's because of mail voting or because it's the "election of our lifetimes".
I'd imagine it's because your president isn't so much a political leader as he is a showman/promoter. The fact that turnout has been brought about against a carcass of a figure means even more credit has to go to Trump, he singel-handedly drew both sides in. Ain't no one driven to the polls by anything that came out of Biden's mouth (was locked up in his basement anyway from what I saw).
Yep, this has all been Trump. Democrats have been fired up to ensure they don't make the same mistake as 2016 and Republicans have been fired up to ensure there's no 'blue wave'
The fact that Biden spent 3 months hiding in his basement and still got more votes than any other candidate in American history says more about Trump's ability to energise the nation into voting, whichever way they vote. He must be fuming at Jo Jorgensen though, I reckon more of her votes would have broken Trump than Biden.
Preferential voting FTW
GOP has become the party of protest all of a sudden. Remember all those lines in 2016 about how "we never protested when you won"?
Isn't this huge turnout not just on Trump but wasn't there an expectation Clinton was going to piss it last time which was suspected to lower turnout?
Trump being anti-nonce is quite something, I'm sure he is going to investigate and expose all the billionaire mega nonces in the same way he made Mexico pay for that wall, that isn't a wall.
What's the nonce equivalent of not inhaling a joint? I touched that child's genitals but did not penetrate?
"She was asking for it."
Diamond Joe ahead in Georgia now as well.
They really need him not to die if he can possibly help it, Kamala Harris would win about 4 states.
Has the Tango Man come up with any more reasons why counting all the votes is undemocratic / unconstitutional / a total meanie poo-poo head thing to do?
Only the one, that he would lose.
I think it's a damning indictment of the Democrats and their collective lack of integrity that they've been trying to win this election the whole time.
The things he said last night were reasons as to why it's not a fair fight and they would have been valid reasons to back that up had any of them been true. Shame for him that they're not.
Much like the Clinton Crime Family fixing the election for Donald Trump to win. I'm not sure how they keep on comitting these massively fraudulent elections only to lose seats in the House and be a minority in the Senate.
The biggest weakness of his whole spiel over the last however many years is that he's Donald Trump - Donald Trump - trying to spin himself as some kind of underdog sticking it to the man, he IS the man. People (wrongly) make the same criticism of Farage, but Farage is just some jumped up accountant who puts on a show voice, so he has some right to do it. Donald Trump owns a fucking solid gold hotel in the middle of New York City.
Crooked Hillary kind of stuck as an attack line, but Sleepy Joe I think makes him sound more endearing if anything (I know Americans don't tend to think this way, but still).
Here's a good website if you want to turn off CNN: https://alex.github.io/nyt-2020-elec...e-changes.html
America needs to try and reestablish some sort of functioning democracy after this. Trump did his best to demolish the safeguards but thankfully they were strong enough to stop the orange gibbon.
It's a weird argument that. Either the structures were strong enough to withstand him, in which case there was nothing to worry about, or actually he never did anything to undermine them beyond talking a load of shit. He never [ab]used his powers more than previous presidents, but when he did everyone shit the bed.
The cure for every problem in America is states' rights; but people quite like forcing their opinions on everyone else so lol looks like the old slaveowners were onto something.
"Reestablish a democracy." He was democratically elected. Just because things don't go your way does not mean that they are not working.
The best part of this whole thing is that Kamala might end up in power.
I thought the Undertaker killed him. What a comeback story.
I'm still rooting for a cabinet of Akeem the African Dream and Big Boss Man.
I agree that the best solution for the US is splitting apart, though i guarantee the “heartland” would descend into third-world country status within a couple decades and desperately ask CA and NY for handouts once everybody starts dying of tuberculosis. So maybe it wouldn’t be the best for them
Good luck stemming the tide once all the good doctors leave for greener pastures.
Clearly they need to gas more badgers.
Biden now leading in Pennsylvania.
They might as well officially call it now.
Georgia having two run-offs in January for control of the senate is going to be mental. :|
Has anyone ever written a convincing CSA survives counterfactual? All the ones I've seen have it dying within ten years (and it couldn't have won the war to begin with), but I don't know if that's just wishful thinking.
The Confederacy would survive longer than that on cotton and tobacco exports to your country alone. Eventually they would fall apart though, mainly due to the fact that no one there had any idea how to organize an actual business or innovate in any way. The war they could've won in the same way guerrilla groups always win had they not suffered from their own inner states rights conflicts
The perception of this election is going to be so different than the reality of it:
Biden is going to win 306 Electoral College votes to 304 for Trump in 2016.
When provisional ballots are all counted, final margins are going to be sizable. Trump won 2016 from 75k votes in MI, PA, and WI. Biden will end up winning each of those by 150-250k.
D’s lost Hispanics!!!! Umm, they won them handily in CA, NV, AZ, NM .... well everywhere but Miami Dade County in Florida and Laredo is n Texas.
The polls will turn out to be in the margin of error everywhere but Florida and North Carolina .
And the brilliant politician Trump is going to manage to be only the 5th to lose a second term. The first to lose when his party didn’t lose down ballot. And the first to lose when Gallup’s simple “Are you better off than four years ago?” poll that they started 100 some years ago was over 50%. 60% say they were better off and he lost. He’s an abysmal politician in any category.
But the narrative will be: close, Hispanics go for R’s, polling doesn’t work, and he has great skill cause a small percent of people love him.
Godbless Mike for that post, that's the sort of clear headed and informed analysis every one needs.
Sounds to me like Trumpism succeeds in spite of Trump.
News stations (well, Sky News) really are crap at explaining the actual data.
Tell me what the current vote count is, what is left to count, and what the trend of mail-in votes suggests will will happen to that data. Instead they throw to some blonde bint stood in the middle of the road in Washington telling that that people in Roosborough County are rioting.
British news channels don't have the resources to do data stuff, nor the audience to justify it (even for our elections they barely do it). They tend to go in on human drama or whatever. It's easy to underestimate the weight of pointless money there is floating around in the US compared to other countries.
People are too thick to be receptive to 'data stuff'. It took me the best part of a decade to singel-handedly have xG up on MOTD and referred to by TV pundits and still I have to deal with the snide comments about my fetish for data and feet.
I think there is a Trump wing of the R party, a rural wing, and the Ryan / Chamber of Commerce wing. Republicans succeed (get universal control) when they can mobilize all three. They can win the Senate with one, and two can deliver the House but need all three for the Presidency or house. Question is if the Cottons, Hawleys, Cruz’s can pull in the Trump wing or do they just become non-voters.
Is there another celebrity floating around who could ape his stardust/charisma? Any sort of career politicians would surely lose a whole heap of the Trumpets.
The Rock, but I'm assuming he would go for the other team.
I don’t think Trumpism is successful even with Trump. You get about a 20-25% chance because you really energize 40% of the Republican base. So maybe you win by 75k votes over three states in a year the director of the FBI says he may have to investigate the opponent 10 days before the election. Outside of that people go “ooh look at the crowds.” But when do votes count more because you bought the merch?
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/11/06/m...lan/index.html
Fox News, the cable channel that has been one of President Trump's most important supporters, has instructed its anchors not to call Joe Biden the "President-elect" when the network calls the race, according to two memos obtained by CNN Business.
The memos said that Fox should "stay away" from using the description, and instead say something Biden has "enough electoral votes to win the presidency."
The memos emphasized that the network should report moves by Trump's legal teams to challenge the results, despite legal analysts having dismissed potential challenges as having little to no merit.
:harold:
Fox are whipped.
I didn't even think Trump and Fox were that in love now. I thought he was all bout the North Korea-style OANN channel.
I've purpousely avoided 99% of coverage because I couldn't take it but knowing Trump is watching every single second of this on on four different TVs is all I need.
Is there any danger of them actually declaring a result that was done easily 48 hours ago? How can they count 90% in a couple of hours and then 2% a day for the next week?
That's the bit I don't get, there's more people protesting outside than there are counting, get a bunch of lads in and knock the rest out in an afternoon.
Some states were able to count the mail in votes 2 weeks before but a lot weren't which is why they have a huge backlog now and why it's taking so long.
Some of those mail ins can be counted by a machine, others can't, some are able to count 24/7, some aren't etc etc.
Some states seem to have a lot more red tape too.
Basically most states were seriously underprepared to deal with the obvious surge in mail in votes compared to previous elections.
Without the virus, how comfortably would Trump have won?
I think he would have won about ninety per cent of the vote, and it would only be that low because of the voter fraud.
Sounds about right.
Surely he's won about 90% of the LEGAL votes right now?
What’s the story now? Is it near over yet?
Pennsylvania reckon they might be finished tonight. If that turns Blue, Biden's in. Georgia's doing a recount.
The very few world leaders who handle the pandemic well will clean up at an election, as seen in NZ.
To be fair to whoever is President of the US, I don't think it would even theoretically be possible to contain it there, the place is an absolute zoo.
Yeah, it's long gone. They let it loose for the best part of six months and it's only the likes of Hawaii, Alaska and New York have managed to contain it.
Our one [although not a world leader obviously] won the popular vote to get back in and has subsequently been unceremoniously dumped from all positions of actual power by underhanded internal deals by his rivals.
But then, politicians are only really as good as their science guys/geographical good fortune.
Just as much seethe toward my own side. The next two years will be:
McConnell passes stimulus during the lame duck then bottles things up in the Senate.
Democrats whine and complain and yammer about changing the Electoral College and packing the Court and structural reform when they know they need 60 seats.
Then in a couple cycles when R’s win again they will complain that African Americans only 85-15 in their favor and Hispanics 65-35. When outreach was just “hey black person - prison bad - you are all in prison right?” There hasn’t been any rural outreach of any kind but “hmm why do you vote against your interests?” Since the 80’s.
Nothing much will pass and we’ll do this all again in 4-8 years. All because Trump is the only person worse than. Democrats at politics.
Is there any danger of anyone having the balls to call any of these states that Biden won easily three days ago?
Usually you're pretty insightful but i completely disagree with your characterization of Trump. He's phenomenal at politics. He got elected despite the entire party machinery being against him throughout the primaries simply because he connected with voters in a way that someone like John Kasich never could. He single-handedly changed the ideological platform of the party. He's not good in the traditional *bipartisan* sense, but he's amazing in the way that he's constructed politics. And he only lost this time round because of Corona; as others have mentioned you'll see incumbents lose worldwide due to that.
That's like saying someone is PHENOMONAL at wearing a XXXL t-shirt because they are fat.
If Trump was doing it all knowingly he would definitley be a genius. As it is, he's simply fluked greatness thanks to the way society has developed.
