That was the credits song for S03E01 of Silicon Valley. Tune.
Picked up three Wu Tang albums for a tenner. Chambers, W & Iron Flag. I still want my coffin brought down to Bring the Ruckus.
I haven't listened to Iron Flag in ages, but I always thought that was a really solid Wu-Tang record and kind of overlooked in the grand scheme of things.
On more recent releases I've enjoyed the new Mr. Lif album quite a bit. I thought he was gone for good but apparently not, very solid little album. I've got the new ASAP Ferg and Dalek releases too, but I haven't really heard enough of them to give an opinion yet.
I've been way too single for way too long to enjoy the new Beyonce album. B'Day is still GOAT tho.
The first 3 songs or so may as well be called 'Jay-Z cheated on me. What an arsehole' and then it goes on to other subjects mostly about pride/feminism and her Dad. They're all good songs but there's no hits like there used to be.
6 Inch Heels seems like it's made for movie sound tracks though. Kinda Massive Attacky now I think about it.
I like the stories about her rabid fanbase have deciphered the lyrics and decided the culprit was Rachel Roy and then Rita Ora who both got abuse by the budding detective mob. Even better, Rachel Ray got shit too because some Beyonce fans can't read.

Drake's new album tomorrow.
Probably deserves its own thread tbh.
Finally activated that Apple Music trial last week so perfect timing.
Here is something for all of us without Apple Music trials, until the postman arrives.
Came in here thinking, "Fuck, I forgot to pick it up before work. I'll go ask Baz to send me a dodgy link." and it's already there
You're doing gods work, son.
I think Views is going to be a grower. It seems like a step back to the older, more-insular, introspective Drake. Reminds me a bit of how I first felt about Take Care. It's missing a lot of the straight up, hard bars, brag-rapping of the last couple. He's obviously loving himself a bit of Dancehall now as well. The patois is a bit much in places. Definitely something I'm going to be listening to repeatedly though. I already enjoyed it like at least twice as much on second listen.
Also, the digital booklet that came with it, if you didn't know otherwise you would think it was straight-up satire of his whole persona.

:D
It's basically just a collection pseudo-artistic shots of him looking similarly serious and moody in a variety of (sometimes ridiculous) settings.

"This is my Rolls and this is my dawg Royce. Dis where he shit. I don' give a fuck."
I must've heard some Drake by osmosis. Started from the Bottom is his, right? Thanks, NBA2K14. Also, a word about the other two Wu Tang albums I picked up: The W is odd. It starts off like a continuation of 36 Chambers with the kung fu samples and general overtones but then goes kinda sideways. Careful is a nice tune. Conditioner sounds like ODB literally phoning one in from prison. Gravel Pit stands out, which I didn't expect. Almost like they needed a single. Iron Flag was a lot more listenable but its a lot less Wu. Its like they decided "Let's just make an album with none of the baggage." It works out okay, like a latter De La Soul effort. Disappointed Flava Flav couldn't slap on a verse, mind. I know you're a hypeman but c'mon. Snoop did better on Conditioner which, at one point I thought was just going to be "Say What?!" every other line.
36 Chambers remains some timeless, monumental business.
Love it. Where's Weezy though?
It was Colonel Loud, wasn't it. :rosebud: (It was on March's [url=http://www.promoonly.com/listings/view.php?issueid=27060]PO:UR/url].)

The Taz themesong.
Man, I can't hate on Lil' Dicky. He always looks like he's having the time of his life while performing.
I like Lil Dicky's music but I can't shake that he's absolutely everything wrong with white privilege at the same time.

I could listen to 40 all day.
Does anybody know who else spat over the 'Guess whos back' beat by Scarface, Jay Z and Beanie Sigel? Im thinking ive heard it on a J Cole mixtape or The Game but I cant seem to think and its been battering my head now for the last 2 days! any help would be great!
Cheers Baz! Ive heard that version but its not that one..its someone more mainstream i think. its on my old mp3 player from some unknown cd way back when lol it will come to me before my days are done..thanks anyway!
I guess it was Fiddy?
That list makes me wanna list to XV.
Chance 3 (or "Coloring Book", as it's now known) is out.
http://www.datpiff.com/Chance-The-Ra...pe.783240.html
I hope they've left the tags off it. I'd rather this listening experiencing wasn't punctuated at regular intervals by "DATPIFF DOT COME WORLD EXCLUSIVE!!". :D
Cheers Alex. I've now downloaded the new Beyonce, Drake and Chance albums from work. IT better not check my history.
Views is very dece. Looking forwarding to Chance.
Someone hit me up with their Spotify playlists
My main:

It's missing a lot in terms of "classics", but it's a pretty good reflection of what I usually listen to.
Chance 3 seems really fucking good on first impressions, I've got a feeling I'm going to play the shit out of it this summer. Awesome features, really nice, uplifting, soulful/gospel vibe. Just a really cool project.
It's also got Jay Elec's obligatory, annual "hey everyone, I'm just here to remind you all how brilliant I am at rapping, I'm still never going to release an album though, see you next year" verse on it.

Stumbled back across this today. Where's Amigo?
Also, I've had WAVE[S] by Mick Jenkins sat in my iTunes for ages without ever really listening to it properly. Despite his name sounding more plumber than rapper, it's really great.

Views is exactly what you expect from Drake without being brilliant.
This Chance tape is a bit uneven, but good. Some interminable gospel interludes. Summer Friends is a 10/10 song though
Coloring Book is too smooth for me. I could listen to All Night forever though.
Do any of you listen to female MCs? Aside from old Nicki Minaj, I'm a pretty big Nitty Scott MC fan, and Snow That Product puts out some good tracks, but other than those it's not really an area of hip-hop I know much about. Would like to get into it.
Jean Grae is good. Jeanius with 9th Wonder is excellent.
Yeah, I'll second Jean Grae and Lauryn Hill. Lauryn Missy Elliot, especially her earlier stuff when Timbaland was in the zone. I always thought Rah Digga was quite good too. "Dirty Harriet" is a decent album, she worked with some good producers. The first Lady of Rage album is worth checking out also.
Cheers mates.
I was going to make a playlist of Complex's Top 50 rap songs by women but I question it's seriousness from #50 being Kreayshawn.
