Shame that Burnley/Boro game isn't on TV.
Championship promotion race looks cracking.
Looking forward to tonight's Premier League game. Need Newcastle to build some momentum so they have something to play for on the last day against Spurs.
Already buzzing for Sunday against Swansea. We're going to win the league.

Good performance from us... I thought we were the better team for the majority of the game, but we've played City a few times when they've scored late goals at St James' Park so I think we probably did the right thing in not going hell for leather at the end.
We play twice more before Norwich next play, against Liverpool (A) and Palace (H).
EDIT: Middlesbrough chucking the lead :(
Guaranteed top three for us after that. Obviously that gets lost because of where we are in the league, but fuck me that's some achievement.

I was impressed with how he started at Everton, but I was never a fan of him at Wigan and thought it was laughable he was being linked with the jobs he was having flirted with relegation every season before ultimately actually relegating them.
As far as I could see it was because his Wigan team played 'nice' football, which presumably negated his shocking inability to organise a defence in the eyes of his advocates.

It was that he was keeping Wigan up whilst playing good football, which still has to go down as a good job when you see what's happened to that club since. Won the cup as well, remember. I thought he'd do well at a bigger club with more resources. And I thought with better players at his disposal it would be easier to organise a defence. He clearly isn't capable, or even interested in doing so.

Oh I understand the arguments in favour of him and he did a good job with Wigan, there's no doubt about that. It was only a good job mind, with the FA Cup win glossing over the fact that in the league there was absolutely no progress year on year, with embarrassing tonkings occuring all to regularly from his first premier league game to the last.
It was ultimately the same as with Moyes, in that I saw nothing in the way he approached managing his side that suggested he could cope with a big step up.

People seem to be getting a bit giddy about Liverpool and it's not actually the fans. We are better than we were 6 months ago but we are still a long way from challenging in a consistent basis. Far too many times this seasons there have been defeats where we have rolled over and I don't think Klopp can fix all of that in one window. It's encouraging but I've been here far too many times when the pressure is off. It's easy to put together a good run of form now when the season is pretty much over.

Even if Conte is ace, the squad is bullshit. His Juve sides had multiple strong leaders and personalities, especially at the back. This Chelsea squad has none. The closest thing we have to a leader on the pitch is John Obi Mikel, which says it all. Diego Costa wants out, Fabregas is well past his best, Matic has gone through the floor. Eden Hazard is like a knackered horse heading for the glue factory. As for the defence, well, post Terry and with Zouma in a body bag, we're just inviting teams into our box and nobody is taking responsibility.
You look around at the other teams around the top six and I have no idea why people think we would go past any of them. The squad needs reforming both from above and below. We've lost all our identity. It'll take several years to get back to the top, if we do. We've seen our last of the Champions League for a while.

We won the league with a vintage Terry, a marauding Matic, a motivated Costa and four excellent months from Fabregas at the start. We also had Mourinho, who knows how to close out a title even when it all went somewhat to pot in the last third of the season. We may get that with Conte but the rest is not forthcoming.

United's title odds are pretty long to say they're either 1) going to hose loads more money at the problem; 2) sign the best manager around and then hose loads more money at the problem. Obviously that guarantees nothing, but Arsenal do guarantee absolute failure, so they should at least be considered a more likely champion than them.
The biggest Italian football page on facebook made a joke event a few months ago, a collective road trip to celebrate Ranieri's title win. They just announced that regardless of the outcome, they're actually going to organize the event officially so prepare to see a few thousands Italians driving into Leicester in a month or so. I'm hoping I can make it as well.

Looks pretty solid. I'd have had Lloris instead of De Gea and can't believe Danny Rose is the best left back in the league, but that's about it.

Leicester City coming top of
the Premier League is about
as close as you can get to
a fairytale story in football,
but there may be an especially
juicy cherry on top for their
lovely manager, Claudio Ranieri.
Leicester bosses were so keen
to write a bunch of stringent
get-out clauses in his contract
should Leicester get relegated
that they paid no attention to
what would happen if the team
did better than expected.
Which stands to reason. If
your team was a 5,000-1
outsider to win the league
you probably wouldn't have
cared if the manager's contract
had a clause for an absolutely
enormous bonus for doing just that would you?
Good. They can afford it anyway.

It will be a crazy mental achievement if it happens so a ridiculous bonus wouldn't be unreasonable.
That's one of the most beautiful poems I've ever read.

Are Arsenal fans protesting ticket prices / Wenger? There seems to be a lot of empty seats, even for a midweeker against WBA.
Niall Quinn has added wonky pronounciation to the list of reasons he's interminable. Oatsil and Catchelny agree.

No they're just shit.
If you coud guarantee me Levy woulnd't try to cash in on any of their players this summer I'd be all over Spurs. Young squad is only going improve next season imo.
I think the Champions League will take a lot out of them. They have also been super lucky with Kane staying fit.
If they sign a couple of key squad players they will have a great chance.
AC Milan have apparently had their players do a haka before their game tonight as part of some advertising campaign. :D

2500 STs were given over to ticket exchange by mooks who probably had a poetry recital to go to instead. At the end of the day this is par for the course when you give tickets to twats. West Ham's 10,000 season tickets to youth for Ł100 is fucking immense in comparison, whatever the motivation.

That must be a low for selling out relative to the stature of the club. It's the sort of thing a non-league team would do to go viral.

So it was actors just wearing the kit? Were actors also watching in the Carpi kit or was that their real team? What does a Haka have to do with bloody Nivea anyway?

Four of the Premier League’s highest-profile players were tricked into recording a video apparently calling for Massimo Cellino, the Leeds United owner, to step down in the belief that they were sending a message to a dying child.
:D Fuck me.

That's a bit good. It's not Wagner telling Bobby Sands to eat his Christmas dinner, but it's good.

Harry Kane baffles me. I don't get exactly what he's good at. He's no powerhouse, yet he has some pretty good aerial presence, he's not very quick, yet he finds space a lot, he doesn't seem to be much of a dribbler or a #tekkers guy, yet he seems to be able to twist and turn away from defenders. The only thing I find amazing about him is his shot, he seems to be able to finish low, with power and almost always right next to the post. There's some real Fat Ronaldo vibes about his finishing.
