Tuesday:

UEFA Champions League

Man City (2) - (2) Paris Saint Germain
Real Madrid (0) - (2) Wolfsburg

Championship

Birmingham City - Leeds United
Middlesbrough - Reading

Wednesday:

UEFA Champions League

Benfica (0) - (1) Bayern Munich
Atletico Madrid (1) - (2) Barcelona

Premier League

Crystal Palace - Everton (8pm)

FA Cup

West Ham United - Manchester United

Thursday:

UEFA Europa League

Liverpool (1) - (1) Borussia Dortmund
Shakhtar Donetsk (2) - (1) Braga
Sevilla (2) - (1) Athletic Bilbao
Sparta Prague (1) - (2) Villarreal

What game is everyone watching tonight then? Both are nicely poised but I'm leaning towards City/PSG.

Should have been us up 1-0 against Benfica. :moop:

Real Madrid/Wolfsburg is on BT Sport Showcase tonight, Man United/West Ham on the Beeb tomorrow and then there's a Europa League game on on Thursday, which I think is Villarreal/Prague.

Everton and Palace's viewing figures will be shit on Wednesday, without doubt.

If Barcelona go out 1-0 they should probably be made to wind the club up in shame.

Real Madrid should have been made to do that years ago.

Not sure either, but I'll probably go with City. Think it might be a bit more open whereas Wolfsburg will presumably sit back a lot.

Definitely possible. If anyone can beat them 1-0 it's Atletico.

United are going to be embarrassed by Wet Spam on Wednesday and then we can get one step closer to the end of this miserable season.

Fingers crossed for Benfica as well, it would be brilliant if they could get a result.

The pitch at Hampden is currently being relaid, giving precisely no chance of it being ready to host two games this weekend. It'll be a swamp by the time we play on it on Sunday.

The SFA are such complete fucking amateurs.

Can you take West Ham to extra time and then shatter their confidence by winning in some bizarre manner please?

Kikó
12-04-2016, 03:31 PM
That would mean we would have to be competent. I'm unsure that's likely.

Lewis- Renato looks the dogs. His composure is brilliant and he makes the game look easy. He's dominating at the age of 18, like Pogba without the attacking side.

McManaman isn't good at all. Not only does he ramble and take three times as long to say something as he should, but he always criticises without offering a solution. Man City should have more of the ball and be more positive. How?

Is Renato Sanches the new Anderson, 'Daws'? Ignore keeks, he doesn't have the slightest clue.
RS is more of a mix between lampard and modric. Technically very good, physically gifted even though his age have been questioned. For me he is a bit weak on decision making, a bit too much nani for my taste. Impressed though how a 18yr old face bayern / champions without shaking a bit.
He was skinned alive by the bayern Chilean ( vidal?).

In fairness I'd rather have a pint with him than Messi, probably (unless Leo can get them in tax-free). But the obsession he has with the Ballon d'Or is a bit wanky.

Lewis
13-04-2016, 12:32 PM
He is clearly in it for himself, but that isn't the exception that the NARRATIVE likes to imagine. Didn't 'The Little Genius' basically hire and fire Gerardo Martino in pursuit of his own interests, and doesn't he have a highest-paid clause in his contract (as for his disgraceful tax-avoidance)? If you're not being a gobshite on or off the pitch, like (to pick two players at random) Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard, what do you want?

Jimmy Floyd
13-04-2016, 12:38 PM
Evasion I think.

They're the worst team ever, but you can't knock him (other than for being a complete gypo). That said, I reckon he would be crap if he went somewhere bigger. The players would lol at his hair, the suits would moan about his caravan and horses wrecking the training pitch... He would have to bring all his own players in I think, like how 'LvG' has only ever seemed to get his own men on board.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have always been vastly more powerful than the others, it's not a new thing. Only nine teams have ever won La Liga since 1929, and Deportivo were the only new winners since 1981, when Real Sociedad were themselves the first new winners since 1946.

Atletico (and Valencia? Sorry Nev) did the dirty on the 'other' sixteen teams to get more money, didn't they? As much as La Liga bends over and takes it from Real and Barcelona Atletico were in a better position than most to push in

Also they have Torres which is basically cheating.

I'm more with Max on this. Winning the league and getting to that CL final was amazing. There isn't any other league where you have to overcome two teams like Barca and Real. If Simeone wins the CL this year I think his achievements would slot in the top five over the last 20 years or so.

Lee
14-04-2016, 05:01 PM
Atletico are a properly big club. He's doing a very good job with them and will no doubt be remembered as one of their best ever coaches. But he isn't managing Leicester (how fucking brilliant to be able to use that example).

You'd expect them to pick up the odd league title in the rare years that both Barcelona and Real Madrid drop the ball. Them doing well in the European Cup is definitely above par but not unprecedented. It was more me being picky about Max calling his job incredible rather than saying he's not doing well with them.

It's not he's taking advantage of poor seasons from Barca AND Real though. They have two of the all time greats and are racking up monster points totals every season.

Maybe I went overboard in the post Barca exit euphoria but he's done an incredible job there. Hope he caps it by beating Pep in the final with 3% possession

Lewis
14-04-2016, 05:24 PM
The year he won the title EL CLASICO had shitty years by their own standards, and they themselves finished well behind last year. It's pretty open at the minute, but Madrid were bollocks for months (nice one, 'Rafa'), and Barcelona seem determined to chuck it away. He's done a very good job, but they are hardly a poverty club from a crappy league like a Dutch team going mental would be.

Lovren's hilarious. That Van Basten effort reminded me of the FA Cup semi last year. Liverpool needed a goal and had a bit of momentum, it was the beginning of stoppage time and he had a shot from more than 40 yards, which, shock horror, flew miles over the bar. Completely killed any belief they had.

I don't know how much of that can be attributed to Klopp but surely it's got to be a lot. Under Rodgers the game would have been over after the first half. He's changed the mentality of the team completely.

What a turnaround for Lovren after missing the decisive penalty against the Turks last year.
