Smiffy's pregnancy scare aside, any good ones?
One of the subreddits I frequent had tiny purple dot to make it look like you had a dead pixel, which caught me out on my phone.

That one with the comedian with his kids and the iPad box was funny at first because of their disappointed faces until I seen he's always at it so it was most likely staged.

Arsenal put out something about sticking a retractable roof on the stadium, and my brother, who's in Cambodia at the minute, messaged me early this morning quite excited about it.

We were meant to have a history test today, the last class of the last day of the term, but she fucking got us. We went outside instead.
A friend of mine is a big Bernie Sanders supporter, so I printed out some Trump stickers and went into his dorm room (another friend has the key) to stick them. Not sure how long he'll take to notice them, one of them is pretty well hidden.
I generally find April Fools jokes/pranks to be tedious but a couple of the guys at work amused me with one they did on our manager yesterday.
We have TVs in the office with news channels on and our manager is a huge fan of The Smiths/Morrissey so when he left the room they connected one of the laptops to it and put on the screen a Morrissey (1959-2016) tribute screen thing that they'd mocked up to look like Sky news. He twigged pretty quickly, as we knew he would, but there was a brief moment of genuine horror on his face.

Denmark.
April Fools is crap. It's just a day for people who aren't funny to pretend they are. One I saw on Facebook was someone texting what appeared to be a mechanic relative and telling him the car window was stuck halfway down, followed by HAHAHA GOT YOU. What is that?

My friend liked something on Facebook where a lass told her boyfriend that she was getting a job in Scotland and strung him along a bit. Everybody seemed to think it was great, but of his questions were about himself (why wasn't he consulted, where does that leave him), so I helpfully pointed out that all she had done is show how unsupportive and controlling he was. Nobody wants to know, Lewis. Enjoy the funny joke.

It's just a morning where people play silly little tricks on each other. I don't get how it can be such a source of venom.
I'd be concerned about how miserable you must be if I was that bothered.

Where's the venom? I said it was crap. It is crap.
If you come up with a good trick to play on someone just play it. Why wait until the one day of the year where it's expected? And if you aren't the sort of person who'd be coming up with tricks to play through the rest of the year then chances are your trick will be pathetic, as my post above shows.

I got someone at work with a pretty decent one a couple of years back when I worked in a call center. We had certain people in the company (including me, unfortunately) that were trained to call customers up and try and sell them insurance, which is not what we did usually (it was usually 100% inbound calls). I had a girl on my team who, everytime I was asked to call out, would go on about how glad she was she never had to do that. So on April Fools I casually said to her she must be dreading her Outbound calling training. She questioned it and I told her the manager had told me an extra person from each team had to be trained on it due to the increased demand. I then got someone from the training team to come and ask her what time she'd like to go in for training, and had quite a few others playing along. It was brilliant for a while until I heard she actually cried about it.... at which point I had to pull the plug.
Other than that though I've never really bothered.
Also, why would someone in Denmark* be a huge Bernie Sanders supporter?

They are an American living in Denmark, yes.
I think saying all April Fools are crap is just stupid, imo. I'm not a big fan of those that make people believe something horrible has happened just to then shout "April Fools" but some thought-out joke are always fun.

Pretty much agree with this. It's much harder to pull off a good joke on April 1st because you're relying on someone forgetting the date. The girl I sit next to at work yesterday got a message from her Mum saying she was going on X-Factor... she didn't fall for it but even if she had, what's the point?

They are just shit really. The sort of person who would fall for one (e.g. my mum) is the sort of person on whom it would be cruel and unnecessary to play such a joke.

Not really. Most people just enjoy it for what it is - a daft bit of fun. This is literally the only place I've experienced people actually moaning about April fools day. I mean fucking hell :D

If it's something planned and vaguely clever rather than just something that could very easily happen anyway (like that wanker with the car window) then fine, the rest can fuck right off.
Deploying your clever, well planned prank on April Fools is the best way to have it be immediately sussed out.
You're yet to point out the venom, Hammer.

A lot of stupid people enjoy catastrophically shit things. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good.

Well, I told the American guy about one of the stickers, he hadn't noticed it at all today. He told me that if I hadn't mentioned it he might not have noticed it for a couple of days, little does he know I didn't tell him about the sticker on the inside of his kitchen cupboard. That's probably going to be there for months.

April Fools was good when it was a social thing, by the people for the people. Now that it's gone corporate it is a bit crap.

I think they can be good when they're done as little gentle pisstakes between friends and suchlike. The ones google do and stuff like that are always annoying and twee as fuck. The best ones are when people fall for really obvious ones, like Ronaldo being sold to Spain.

My mate told me he got a job at the guardian and I completely believed him. He does a bit of journalism and had been applying for jobs like that so it seemed plausible. It was after midday too, the dick. Although he just ended up a bit depressed that it wasn't true and he was really just stuck in his current job that he hates so he's the real fool.
