I've just started re-watching the Germany-Brazil World Cup semi. 5 mins in , it's 0-0, and David Luiz has already made one marauding run up the right wing.

We beat Tajikistan 7-0 in a home qualifier, which means unless Jordan manage to win their next game, beat us in Sydney, and find an 11-goal turnaround, we're safely through to the next stage of qualification.

It finished 7-1, and yeah, Marcelo was awful - but I don't think he was as bad as David Luiz, or Fred. These two heat maps say it all...

Those are great. :D David Luiz the free role centrebackstriker and Fred the kick off taker.

Spain is the one to trade, unless they're down at stupid odds. Should win every match up to the semis very easily.
Portugal too as they would have to field the disabled side not to win their group, but the second round tie will be tougher.

Stage 1 of Operation World Cup was successful last night. Vietnam beat Charlie's shitemob 4-1, and Thailand held Iraq to a 2-2.
Vietnam travel to Iraq (in Iran) next needing to win, and some other group runners-up to get beat, to the qualify for the final group stage. Unfortunately it's probably going to be 5-0 to Iraq.
All aboard the Italy train then.

No one is going to believe anything when England roll out all the top top shite that wasn't starting last night.
The Spurs' players were superb. Hadn't given it much though but that whole thing could be shaping up fairly spectacularly on the classic-giggles-anti-everything front. A successful England team staffed mainly from Spurs and Liverpool players?
Obviously, at the last World Cup everyone was thinking the then in-form Liverpool players were going to carry England to some sort of improbable diamond driven glory, but it turned out the best player in that team actually knocked England out - guess that would be Belgium in the case of Spurs. At least Algeria aren't in it.
I just hope Hodgson has the balls to go with Alli. He's still rough round the edges, but he looks like he could be a match winner. Hopefully he doesn't get sent off in one of the warm-up games
Still not sure about Lallana but he seems to have been drawing a lot of plaudits of late. If he had any composure whatsoever he'd be a serious player, but that's England's problem. Look how clinical a poor Germany were when given the chance (including that dirty bastard Kroos) whereas we must have skied/fluffed half a dozen decent chances (mostly Henderson and Lallana).
The midfield and attack will probably end up being Wilshere, Carrick, Henderson, Milner, Welbeck and Rooney.

I haven't read this thread yet, but just want to chime in with wondering why Lallana is even in the squad? And surely, surely Rooney can't be forcing Kane/Vardy out with the form they're in? Great match overall.

Rooney is one of the best in the world, therefore there is always place for him.
If it will be on the bench or in the XI it's up to Hodgson.

Well Hodgson has been shit so far. I'll start getting enthusiastic if we line up against Russia without Rooney, Wilshere or Milner in the starting XI.
Kane is a proper player. He reminds me of Shearer. He'll be scoring goals for years.

He did embarrass England in the last World Cup. We were a fucking shambles. A very good comeback in a friendly doesn't change any of that, particularly not if he's going to stick with players like Rooney in the starting line up when it actually matters.

It's the worst feeling knowing this will happen. Tonight, we were fun to watch and you could see the potential. Alli is going to be one hell of a player, Kane was brilliant and Vardy had the much needed impact, we were good to watch. Which makes it all the more sickening when Rooney returns.

Against Costa Rica they played against the best keeper in the world at the moment who probably did the best game of his career.

On the subject of Neuer, I'm no keen observer of him, or Bayern, but whenever I have seen him of late he's looked a fucking liability. Is that Guardiola making him even more of an arrogant cunt or is he just getting caught out more (ie having his errors lead to goals/chances more often)? He's still obviously great at actual goalkeeping, but his sweeper keeper shit seems to lead to at least one gilt edge chance per match, which really isn't that great.

Their group is absolute dirt. Iceland have probably peaked already (if not during 2014 campaign, during which they were unlucky) and Hungary are by far the worst team ever to qualify for a European Championship.
They won't win it but could see them getting down to 10-12 possibly.

Iceland have gone from underrated to overrated pretty quickly.
Austria price against Hungary in the first game is probably a steal, could have been 4-0 up in the first half hour against Albania the other day, and then kind of stopped bothering.
