I don't really care what you think about iTunes, I just have a question.

I've always used iTunes through my dad's Apple account so that I could use his credit card to buy music etc. Now though I've got an iPhone and set up my own Apple ID. I'd like to transfer my music from iTunes to the iPhone, but the device doesn't show up on iTunes when I plug it in, and I'm thinking it's because it's on a different Apple ID. Do you know a way to merge the accounts somehow or otherwise get around this problem?

1.Open iTunes
2.From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
3.When prompted, enter your (father's) Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

If JA's idea doesn't work you can manually transfer all the music (and probably apps) to your own account and it doesn't take long.

How would one go about manually transferring all the music? I can email song files to myself and then download individually to my phone from the email, but that's quite time-consuming and inefficient.

Hang on, I think the problem is that I haven't updated my iTunes version since 2012 or so. The old one is so much better than the new one so I'm reluctant to change it, but it will be annoying if I can't sync any music like this.

Mac or PC?

Mac. Running OS X on version 10.6.8. The computer at large isn't recognizing the iPhone either, so I can't go around iTunes to add files directly.

If you've bought the music already, just pirate the mp3s and your troubles will be gone whilst your conscience is free.

Strange that it isn't even recognising your phone. Does it recognise other iPhones? Not sure about mac, but on Pc you have to make sure the Bonjour service is running.

Everything works fine otherwise. I'm not sure this is enough of a reason to change.
