View Full Version : Which philosopher said this? (i.e. Harold complaining, again)

People enjoy feeling outraged. It's an addictive feeling, and it's not restricted to any particular viewpoint or side of the political spectrum. Journalism (especially political commentary) basically runs off peoples' craving to take umbrage at things.

We even get outraged over other people being outraged over the wrong things. The important thing is that we get to feel superior to somebody.

I guerss this is sort of a 'who am I' outside of footballers? But I will give you a clue if you can't guess.

Is it one of those twats from your videos?

Is this a trick and it's a quote of your own, Haz?

I was going to say Dolly Parton as well.

It's everybody's favourite female mathematician: Hedy Lamarr.

Who said it then, Harold? Google doesn't have any answers, so it must be from a video. Do you not consider it sort of ironic to pluck a quote about the 'addictive feeling' of outrage from a lengthy video you watched to further confirm your dislike for something?

EDIT: Meh. The point stands.

Toby

Interesting fact: Mark Lamarr actually isn't related to Hedy Lamarr despite having the same surname.

What point is it that stands?

Did Harold meet Kiko in London?

That you enjoy feeling outraged.

Did Harold meet Kiko in London?

That's what I'm interested in too.

No, it was about when Kiko challenged Harold on what he actually knew about London when he said there were too many immigrants or something along those lines. Harold said he visited enough to know, even if he didn't live there.

Why did you consult him on graphic design?

That you enjoy feeling outraged.

No, the point being made is that my disagreements do not result in me attempting to censor (or directly censoring) another point of view.

That's correct. And so I did PM Kiko about it and it turns out he wasn't genuine, which certainly shocked me.

That is your point. My point is that that quote in the opening post fits you quite well.

Well even if you think I'm outraged, how does that manifest itself? Do I try to ban other people from expressing their view?

Lewis

It doesn't say that in the quote itself, so I don't care.

Which is why I brought up the picture. Keep up. It's called hypocrisy.

Only if your warnings stem from people being outraged, which they don't.

Only if your warnings stem from people being outraged, which they don't.

I hope you've studied them well. When I said that many women like being dominated, sexually, was that a warnable offence or the result of someone's OUTRAGE about a true fact?

Lewis

I don't know. What did the warning say?

QE Harold Flair
23-02-2016, 02:16 AM
I don't know. What did the warning say?

What does that matter? What other reason could there be for that warning other than OFFENCE? I also got a 1 point warning for posting a mock up of Henry at an anti-wrestling protest rally with a 'Wrestling is Real' sign. It's almost as if these people have NO sesne of humour at all.

Maybe you ain't funny?

Maybe, but then that's not worthy of a warning point. But your grudge against me is hardly hidden, is it? And it IS funny,

OFFENCE isn't the same as OUTRAGE. Keep up.

He also sent Mert a message about the bus times in and out of Larne, and for some reason I got a purchase order for a used set of bondage gear.

I was absolutely genuine. I'm surprised you didn't mention it over the beer the other night.
