Oddly the only time in the last 200+ years they haven't been useless was 1939-45, or maybe 1939-60. Poor Adolf.

The Russians have got us worked out in that we're (rightly) not willing to die for anything they might want, so pushing it would actually rather suit them. The Americans could blat their armed forces in about a month provided it all remained half-arsed, but I'm certainly not going to war for fucking Latvia, and I don't suppose Chad and Trent Hamburger would either. That lot would.
