Earthquake in Taiwan last night toppled a few buildings with 5 confirmed dead so far. It comes at a pretty awful time on the first day of Chinese New Year.

I was surprised to here buildings went down in the southern city of Tainan, as when the quake struck at about 4am it was pretty tame. Yet again, I thought I was having a fit and then began to realise that as I have never in my life had a fit, it was probably an earthquake.

Almost 3 days have passed and there are still 100 odd people trapped in all the rubble.

The cause of the building falling is a belter, though. Metal cooking oil containers shoved in structural walls in the place of concrete.

Some of the stories coming from it are pretty shit as well. One of the worst being the mother of a family being the only survivor. The dad had tried to protect everyone by lying on top of his wife and son, but only saved his wife, who had to lie there with her dead family on top of her for 2 days. Fuck that.
