A fair few are into animal stuff as a form of roleplay, but it is just a bit of roleplay. Like having a collar and leash, eating from a bowl, wearing a tail or whatever. Generally just being treated like a pet, though presumably with sex being involved too. It adds to the submissive/humiliation/objectification element that some people find such a turn on, I guess. I havent actually seen it for myself that much mind you, as people tend to do it more at home with their partners.
