No doubt the great guru Jurgen Klopp, who knows how all football should be organised everywhere, will be whingeing about replays in the coming days.

I was wondering the other day - do other countries have a second domestic cup like the league cup?

The French do, the aptly named Coupe de la Ligue. Portugal does as well I think, and Scotland obviously, but I think we're the only country where it earns a European berth.

About 10-15 years ago everyone seemed to want to abolish the League Cup, but that seems to have died down now.

We also also have a cup and league cup.

Apparently in 2017 the league cup will become a group stage then knockout stage like the CL and Europa.

Yes because the big clubs were saying it was interfering with European GLORY and played shocking sides allowing shit like Boro to win it. Now it's their only chance of silverware.

At least our cups aren't set up for one of two sides to win it, like Spain and elsewhere.

The Coppa Italia is the worst competition format out there I reckon. Fortunately this year it has been shat on by one of the quarter-finals somehow being Spezia v Alessandria.
