Do you have any for 2016?

As tedious as the whole "new year, new you" concept is, I've decided to buy in and set myself a goal. Put simply I need a new social circle. My oldest friends at this point are nothing more than wasters, who seem content on venturing no further than the town we grew up in. Thing is, I'm not entirely sure how one goes about gaining new friends. Work aside, it's probably going to take some serious proactiveness on my part.

Just had a quick look at last year's on the old place.

I said I wanted to lose weight, which I've done. I've also come out the other side of Christmas relatively unscathed. I have a bit to go and should be where I want to be before the spring.

Another resolution was travel and the only place I haven't sorted which I said I would is a trip to New York and Toronto for next month. That has now been put back a year but will happen; we are seeing some travel agents over the next few weeks to get us a Chicago/Toronto/New York trip arranged for next winter. I'm more than happy to be visiting Tromso instead this winter.

I also said I'd finish my MSc dissertation. I haven't yet but the deadline is 1st March and it will be done this time. It's boring but it's nearly done now and having it will look good on the CV, I suppose.

There are a couple of new ones I'd like to do. The first is to learn a new language. It will be Spanish as I bought a load of materials for that about 18 months ago and have never bothered. That will do for a hobby. And I'd like to learn to ski as well. There's a place just down the road in Tamworth where you can do it so I might give that a go. It has been floating around in the back of my mind for a little while.

There's nothing I'm all that bothered about doing though. I guess I'd like a new job now as I'm bored of this one, but it isn't urgemt and I can't control what comes up. I have a couple of applications on the go so we'll see. The weight has always been the big one and that's being sorted.

I might start smoking. Get a leather jacket as well.

I couldn't even manage that.

Train more, eat healthier, drink less. The usual.

Do more music stuff. I said this last year, it's sad that it requires a conscious effort.

Relocate.

Go somewhere in East Asia and maybe (united states of) America.

Lose like 5 kilos. Think this is the first year I've had weight loss as a goal, hello mid twenties.

Probably to teach a bit less, so I can try to finish at 7 every day. Then to go to the gym a bit more. Finally, and more importantly, to set up a small cafe in Taipei and see what happens with it. I'm confident it would generate a profit, and to start with that'll be just fine.

I'm not sure if I even had any last year.

Getting out of Northern Ireland and keeping up the gym habit I've started would be a decent achievement for me.

Feeling happier in general would be nice and hopefully those two will contribute to that quite a bit.

Buy a house and find a new job (at a Senior level). Probably get engaged. So, nothing major then... :uhoh:

Reading back through the old thread (http://thedugout.tv/community/showthread.php?t=94309)... did 7om really move to China?

Last year I wrote: "My main resolution for 2015 is to spend less time on the internet, and in place of that read more and watch more films. A better work ethic is another thing, I got properly lazy in recent months. Taking more good pictures, too. And a girlfriend wouldn't go amiss." It'd probably be the same this year, with the addition of getting a job and going backpacking.

Ah, I did have some last year. I didn't do any of them.

Or, in the immortal words of Snapman: "I have a backlog of films to be watched, and a backlog of weed to be smoked. Priorities."

I could do with spending less time online. Or at least wasting less time. It's just so easy though. Even when I'm reading on my Kindle I come across stuff I don't know about and spend more time on Wikipedia than reading the book. It happened last night; I'm reading about the Vikings and the book starts by going on about the tribes pre-dating them. I've read more about the tribes than fucking Vikings.

No resolutions per se, but I have a few plans:

-Dissertation proposal in January
-Get better at working. I have been extremely lazy the past few years, need to get more shit done
-Do some bicycle racing. Also Ms. Pepe and I went mountain biking and she loved it so we might do some of that this summer
-Save a bit more than I've been doing later. Not sure how the point above and this one will work together, we'll see

That's about it.

- Keep making music. I'm so happy i devoted time to grinding through the basics of music production this summer, now I can actually make enjoyable stuff. It would be dope if the song I'm making right now (or any one in the future) got noticed by a label, but that's as much a function of chance as it is a function of ability
- Land a good paying, enjoyable summer internship. I haven't done industry tech work yet, so a summer of that before I graduate would be cool
- Start writing my thesis, which is on an entirely different subject than anything i'm studying in school
- Learn how to DJ (live sets) and DJ something at my school / frat.
- Look handsome always
- Go abroad to Berlin for a quarter in the fall. I haven't been back to Europe in like 3 years at this point and I miss home so bad.

I've managed to shift a little weight on last year, but 2016 is the big one. I want to lose about 3 stone in the 9 months before I get married.

To try and see 2017.

I fucking love that.

Iv'e decided in the New Year I am gonna go back on the bevvy. Really hit it hard this time, no whimsical "ahm aff it". Likewise, i'm going to really commit to the kebabs and chips and cheese. Feel a bit fragile in the wind and could do with some more weight getting put on. I'm also going to make a real effort to be more of a twat. Ditch the honesty and niceness and really be flaps deep in being a git. 'Life own goals' folks, it's the way ahead.

Shit patter aside, got a show being produced so fingers crossed it gets commisioned and the comedy promotions business is starting to turn a profit. Making enough money so that I don't need to sell any organs would be an honest aim for this year. Oh and having a woman free 2016 is an aim. Focusing on being a good dad and having a career in comedy as opposed to just surviving would be nice.

Same reason for me. I put up 3 of the 10 I lost, so I want to lose 4 now for it. I've double the time you have, but I suspect I have less than half the will power.

I'm sure you'll do it. The motivation not to look fucked for photos your missus will stare are all the time should be enough.

You're either really bad at keyboard shortcuts or you are typing with one of those forehead stick things. I'm betting on the latter as it would make a lot of sense lately.
