Magic may about to Benoit his family, but Phonics is starving to death. Let's get a pot going lads.

It's the pot that caused it.

Does people still call it 'pot', or is that a bit 2001?

Kush.

Smoke.

It always amuses me how seemingly everyone my parents' age calls it 'dope'.

It's just weed innit.

Dark Soldier

My mam still calls it wacky backy

Fuck him, I always find addicts are very resourceful when it comes to surviving. He'll have an account as a premium seller at cash converters soon enough.

Pot's out, mate. It's the weed wot done it. Or that mad kush.

Words like "pot" and "dope" always sound so sinister to me when really they mean the same thing.

My mum was talking the other day about some distant cousin of hers whose son is supposedly 'on drugs'. I think he's a teenager and presumably it's just some weed and I kind of wanted to say it was probably just weed and that's no big deal but then I didn't want to get questioned about it.

You'd have thought he was a heroin addict from how she was getting on.

Baz

It's still drugs.

It's still drugs.

So is caffeine you massive fucking idiot

Shindig
27-12-2015, 10:41 PM
It probably takes more effort to become a twitchy mess on coffee... or not. I don't fancy going near any substance that can alter my mind (even on a temporary basis) to that degree.

mugbull
27-12-2015, 10:45 PM
Even alcohol? I just think that people (even our age) define 'danger' synonymously with 'degree of taboo', which is stupid.

Shindig
27-12-2015, 10:47 PM
As I understand it, weed takes effect quicker than alcohol.

mugbull
27-12-2015, 10:48 PM
I mean it does, it doesn't impair you as much though.

Shindig
27-12-2015, 10:51 PM
But you can get to that point quicker. Anything you inhale will be more potent than something you drink.

Baz

It's a pointless discussion with no ending.

I've had it many times in RL.

Shindig
27-12-2015, 11:10 PM
It doesn't need an ending as there's compelling arguments for and against. One thing I'll say is legalised weed sounds like the most regulated, weakened toss that'll probably have no impact on the supply chain.

mugbull

It is a discussion with an ending. A society that is educated about drugs is significantly more efficient, safe and inspired than one that is uneducated about drugs. I'm not even a huge proponent of weed - I think there are a lot of detriments to it - but people need to get off their high horse. Everything's a drug, some stuff is just more 'taboo' than other stuff. There's a lot of great things this 'drug' stuff can accomplish, by the way.

It's like sex. The reason it was so taboo back in the day was because there was no reliable method of birth control and so people having sex all the time was bad for society. Now there is birth control, so there's no reason to look down on sex, but people still do because they're indoctrinated a certain way. The internet has made drug use infinitely safer, yet people refuse to acknowledge the usefulness of certain drugs and prefer to go on about how dangerous they all are

It's not like sex. People need to have sex to keep the species going.

These two sentences are kind of arse-over-arse, mate. Recreational drugs are just that. They're there to make the user get some positive psychological outcome. Pain relief is not a fix. It's a mask. As for the internet, that allows for the more dangerous things like synthetic weed into people's hands.

Synthetic weed? I've never met anyone who's tried synthetic weed, dude, especially given how easily you can get actual weed around here.

I'm not even talking about recreational party use, I'm talking about MDMA for anxiety and PTSD, microdosed LSD for work (as an alternative to caffeine; it's pretty big at Stanford and Silicon Valley) as well as an alternative to medicinal marijuana, even weed for sleep problems and pain relief. The only thing that "it's all drugs mate" does to this is shut down discussion of this stuff.

It's a synth that's supposed to hit the same receptors that THC hits but it seems to go very badly. Here's a few stories

You don't know much about anxiety, or sleep.
