Fuck sake. Shot his load in the end after the Double 2.

Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith and now Luke Humphries. It’s the most unlikable players winning back to back to back. Peter Manley will somehow win next year now

Genuinely no idea why you dislike Humphries so much. He just seems completely normal and sound.

He’s very similar to Gerwyn Price. Some people are just born wankers.

He also used to be very fat and it’s the norm for people who have lost weight to become even more unbearable

I do laugh when I see all the stuff about how much this is going to 'do for the game of darts'. Like, what could it do? Will bowling alleys start being converted to darts warehouses with sixty oches laid out in bright colours, stuffed to the brim with children's parties? Pubs are closing hand over fist and no communal spaces are replacing them, the game of darts is doomed, just like all similar such sports. This is just a thing people latched onto during the post Christmas hangover because there was nothing else going on, and Littler is a giant child freak, the sort which has always attracted crowds since the days of Ripley's.

Littler's definitely special isn't he? Whether we want to admit it or not.

People make all the comparisons to when Rooney first arrived in the Premier League, and you can see why.

Nobody has come into the darts scene so young, with such self belief, natural ability and the mental strength to compete against the established players.

van Gerwen is the youngest ever darts player to win a major title at 23 yrs. Littler has 6 years to beat that......

All the 'greatest ever' calls are pretty bold in a sport where there is a SIXTEEN TIME world champion who has really only just retired, so you can't even put it down to olden days. Surely it's almost certain that Littler will absolutely not be the greatest ever.

Littler has probably what 30/35 years at the top to go though so he has a decent chance.

As for Taylor he was he without a doubt the best darts player ever(and a nonce) but the standard is much higher now than when he was in his pomp and there are generally 7/8 players who could win the world title when he was at his best it was him and maybe 1/2 who could actually beat him.

Waffdon
15-12-2024, 04:24 PM
Assuming you’re just looking for cash out value since only one of the Luke’s will win this, he’s decent value. Him, Clayton (80/1) and Nijman (30/1) are all in the really easy quarter so could make a semi final. Michael Smith is still ranked 2 but he is utterly tragic these days so anybody could make it through from that side of the draw

MVG is also a bit bobbins hence Gary Anderson being 3rd fav

Theo Von tells a story about doing coke with a taxi driver that concludes with him driving the taxi while the cabbie gets sucked off by a prostitute in the back and he's a legend that gets to interview the president. If I tell a story about finding a fiver on the floor that concludes with me buying a muller corner that has slightly less yoghurt in it than usual, I'll get called a fantasist. There's no justice.

Littler is a cut above anything else on show today.

MVG could do him in a final. He’s got better every game after a pretty dreadful year. Could be a classic if it’s them two

Can tell Aspinall is already struggling with his dartitis

Playing ridiculously well considering

Messy leg to start that set.

Geezer is No. 12 in the world and can't let go of his darts. I might take this up.

Yeah, I think this has to be a MVG v Littler final. For the fans. Both are clearly the top performing players at this World Championship.

This semi has been crap so far.

There have been a couple of good moments but Dobey just hasn't shown up other than the set he won.

Losing the second set took all the wind out of his sail, then that was that.

At least we've got the final everyone wanted. Not sure which way it will go.

Bunting was so frustrating, it felt like he kept grinding his way to important legs to stay in sets, then starting the next leg with a 60 or something.

I think it's why I find darts so compelling - it ebs and flows, and momentum is so important. I also think the mechanics of who has the throw works really nicely - I find the advantage of the serve in tennis to be too extreme, and always makes it feel like sets and even matches are often basically decided in a handful of games. In darts it's enough to give some immediate jeopardy, without it killing the spectacle too quickly.

In darts it's enough to give some immediate jeopardy, without it killing the spectacle too quickly.

I've played quite a bit of darts and it's massively about momentum, speed of throw, and you can definitely get put off your game by someone throwing poorly and then your throw becomes shocking too. Contagious. The same applies vice versa, which you see all the time. Someone hits a 180, then suddenly the next player does.

There was a guy in my local who was a brilliant, fast player. The darts were in the trebles and doubles before you could take a sip of your pint. He played like Ricky Evans and got into some minor events where he almost beat some famous players.

He was also quite vocal when playing about slow players and I saw other players crumble and try to play quicker. He would make comments under his breath as you're taking your throw, etc. Whenever I played him, I used to just say to myself to focus on my game at my pace. I also played better with a couple of pints in me to be honest. More relaxed.

I struggled to beat him in all honesty. One game, he was well ahead and had double 16 left, and I was on 140. He was giving it the big one about how he's got it again. I hit treble 20, treble 20, and double 10. Probably my best finish ever and not sure I could do that again but I've never seen such a bad reaction from someone. He was such a poor loser. Threw his darts on the floor, was stomping and moaning, scuttled off to the toilet.

As he lost, he had to chalk the board and he ended up loudly supporting my next opponents and it all culminated in him throwing the chalk at me and telling me to fuck off, because I always upped my game against him. Which I didn't take too kindly to. His brother came into the pub a few days later and told me he wouldn't have blamed me for hitting his brother for that disrespect. Thanked me for not doing it and bought me a pint.

Anyway, it's a fascinating game of mind control of yourself and your opponent.

Bunting went the way of Dobey. Lost the second set when he really shouldn't have and it was curtains from then on.

I think Littler will win the final. Van Gerwen's quick pace will keep him in the groove.

2/1 for MVG is ridiculous odds

7/1 for most 180s. Bookies and punters thinking he’s some sort of gimp off the street

MvG to win and most 180s 22/1

Van Gerwen deliberately allowing Littler a chance at the 170 was just dumb. Put all the pressure on him to take his double and he busts

I don't think MVG actually looks much older than his real age, he just looks fucking weird. Bunting is the one for sure, I got my mum to guess how old he is, and she went with 45, even with her accounting for the fact he's obviously a lot younger than he looks because of me asking her in the first place. He looks old in the way that 70s footballers do.
