This match could well determine who wins the league this season. A win for either side puts them in the driving seat for glory, a draw would ensure Leicester will win the league for the first time ever come May. The betting will again be kept simple, who do you think will win or will it be a draw? Odds taken from bet365. Best of luck.

All about the lunchtime kick-off tomorrow.

Reg
18-12-2015, 07:16 PM
As well as our game, it's the first Betis-Sevilla derby in years, and a Madrid derby in Real-Rayo. Then Inter-Lazio looks good.

Those make up for the Premier League bunch, another boring lot. Apart from Monday.

Davgooner

Rumour is we're about to announce a stadium expansion to 70k.

Jimmy Floyd
18-12-2015, 10:48 PM
It's the first Betis-Sevilla derby in two years, by my reckoning. Betis looked a bit dodgy in the second tier last season but Ole Ole Ole Ole, Pepe, Pepe made a messiah-like return and took them back up.

Lewis

Rumour is we're about to announce a stadium expansion to 70k.

Just when Tottenham thought they had done you with their very deliberate 61000 capacity.

Reg

Ah, they played April last year. Oh well, should be good anyway.

Hertha v Mainz should be a cracker in current form.

Should be a good match today. I'm a bit concerned about how our defence will handle Delofeu and Lukaku. We're a lot tighter at the back since bringing Simpson and Fuchs and this will be a good test of that. Drinkwater being out is a shame but I'm not too concerned as Andy King, who I assume will replace him, is excellent. If not King it will be Inler which isn't the worst option to have. I'm more bothered about Huth being suspended. He has actually been the worst of our current back four but he is an important part of the unit. Not sure whether I want Wasilweski (similar in style to Huth) or Benalouane (better on the ball which is good for setting up our counter attacks) in his place. Neither would be awful, I don't think. Both like to give away silly fouls but then so does Huth.

I can see us losing this, but then I can see us losing every game so my opinion doesn't really count.

John Arne
19-12-2015, 09:04 AM
Simpson looked dodgy against Chelsea. Always seemed to be out of position, and never knew whether he should close down or back off.
Who is the alternative right back?

Lee
19-12-2015, 09:23 AM
De Laet, who leaves us far too exposed. Simpson has been very good since he came in. The reason we conceded so many goals early on was playing De Laet and Schlupp at full back. They're both quick and good going forward so give us (even) more attacking options but made us too easy to score against.

Simpson and Fuchs are more disciplined and conservative and our defence is much improved as a result. I'd sign a new right back in January if there's one going but of our options now Simpson is better for the way we play.

This has been easy for Middlesbrough so far. They look like a side who would do well if they get promoted.

niko_cee
19-12-2015, 01:23 PM
You don't really want to give them an early lead, what with their defence driven, physical shithouse ideology. They probably would do alright (should really have gone up last year) but they'll add fuck all to the league unless Karanka takes the mentor-aping to the next level. Such a dull side.

Jimmy Hill's dead. Poor sod had Alzheimer's for a while didn't he?

Magic
19-12-2015, 01:48 PM
Feel atrocious today, can't shake this hangover at all and spewing. Worst one in ages. Having a wedding ring on eliminates any random flirting and friend zones you immediately. So much so a John Lewis store manager who was actually quite nice was telling me how she was raped at her friend's house and the trial and everything. Weird.

Anyway I may watch Chelscum to see how they play without Boreinho.

Magic

Wasilewski in for Huth.

King in for Drinkwater was a no-brained. I love King, I hope he scores.

The United team news seems to have Mata behind Rooney (good), and then the least mobile midfield ever in Carrick and Fellaini (fucking hell).

SvN

Poor Jimmy Hill. Still, 87 isn't a bad number. Wonder what the Sunderland forums are like at the moment.

SvN
19-12-2015, 02:15 PM
Looking at the United lineup, I've no idea who is playing where. It wouldn't sujrprise me to see a 3-5-2 with Young and Memphis on the wings. It also wouldn't surprise me to see a back 4 with Jones and Young as fullbacks.

That's what the Forza app has displayed.

Probably be Mata right, Memphis left, with Rooney behind Martial.

Everything coming from Stamford Bridge sounds a bit cringey to me. There's a "You let Jose down" banner in the crowd. :cab:

Jimmy Floyd
19-12-2015, 03:55 PM
It's richly deserved and I suspect might start a trend in terms of supporters demanding more from overpaid shitehawks not putting the effort in.

Everyone has always known Costa and Fabregas are arseholes, but it's nice to see Hazard also in the dock for thinking he's a lot better than he is.

He'd be great for them but they won't appoint him, certainly as long as they think they have any sort of sniff of getting Guardiola in the summer. In fact I'd put good money on them not. If they signed up Mourinho now they are just surrendering 'Pep' to City.

They had a shitter not getting Klopp at the point when they got van Gaal, although I can't remember what Jürgen's views were at that time.

Just sack him now.

That's got to be it. Sack him tonight, get Mourinho in.

I was always opposed but anything would be better than Van Gaal and his philosophy right now.

Why on earth were you opposed?

Why? It's hurting the brand and we look like the holy grail of the top four is falling away. He has to go. 1 win in 13. Dog turd.

It's awful and it all feels so artificial. In countries like England, Germany, Spain and Italy you can get away with these loaded clubs because there's enough interest in other clubs to keep the whole thing reasonably competitive. Do the French even like football?

I like reading books on the history of the sport in various countries. I've read great books on football in England, Germany, Spain, Brazil, the Netherlands, Italy, the US and a couple on Africa as a continent. And yet I've never managed to find anything on France, despite looking. I just don't think there's the culture for it. Which is odd as they've produced some wonderful sides at national level.

Jimmy Floyd
20-12-2015, 11:58 AM
They don't like any sport really. They like literature, art and poncing around in cafés. Our love of sport comes from the fact that we invented all the major team sports and played them in a structured way in the 19th century to the point that they became widespread and everyone could have a go at forming their own clubs and teams. In France what did they invent, pétanque? Yeah. I suppose they have the Tour de France but that's about as far as their sporting culture goes. They like annual ponce-abouts like that and Le Mans. It's not a people's pursuit.

The only reason the Qatar lot invested was because Paris is a glamorous city, there's no actual footballing logic behind it.

I used to think this, that his awkwardness got him an unfair rap. But he continually makes insane decisions. He literally always takes a touch, no matter the situation. Facing down 3 opponents, no, don't just knock it out, take them on son, on the halfway line, when you're pretty much the last man. Yes, perhaps this is what modern managers tell him to do, but it invariably ends in some form of disaster. Are players just drones nowadays? You'd think he'd be able to judge situations a bit better than he can.
