Trying to get the poll working this time.

It's not a perfect circle.

It's not a perfect circle.

That's not what I'm asking, smart-arse.

As I said in the last thread, not for me. But that's the obvious answer so it probably is.

You didn't make the poll public. Hardly matters, but just in case you meant to.

EDIT: Yes you did. Forgot you had to click the numbers

It is public.

It's a smart arse question, which makes stupid generalisations based on people's answers. Waste of time, basically.

edit - that sounds more arsey than I meant it to. These things generally annoy, though.

There isn't a right answer.

It's close enough.

There isn't a right answer.

Well I'll stick with no then. An ellipse isn't a circle, so a wobbly thing like that isn't either. Though I don't know what you'd call it then.

Surely without a fixed radius it's not a circle?

Bernanke

If that's a circle then it's also a square.

Cord

I believe it to be a splodge.

Pepe

For it to be a circle, it would need to have a fixed distance from the center to every point, which is not the case. So no, not a circle.

Boydy
06-12-2015, 03:56 PM
Right, it's not a question of fucking geometry.

It's a 'sure, it's close enough, it's a circle' or 'no, it's not a circle', okay?

Pepe

So no, not a circle.

No need to chimpout mate.

Giggles

But it's not. Because of geometry.

Reg

It kind of is a question of geometry, mate.

Will you ever tell us what's the point of this abomination of a thread?

Jimmy Floyd

I thought circles were like squares in that something's either a circle or it isn't. That isn't a circle.

I liked the other thread.

And you can't get annoyed because people give an obtuse answer to an obtuse question, well I suppose you can but it's unjustified (and silly).

Weirdly, I changed my avatar to the ISIS flag before and when I googled it to get a pic it had a description of it and a translation. It said it had a white circle on it and I looked at it and thought to myself it's not really a circle is it.

Life is a circle. So yes.

I'd call it a shit circle. If there was a generally accepted word to describe shit circles that didnt involve the word 'circle' though, then I'd call it that. Shit circle implies that its a circle, and I'm not in fact sure that it is.

It is, by definition, a question of geometry.

It wouldn't surprise me, though, if liberals tend more towards the humanities and conservatives more towards math and science, which would explain this somewhat.

Boydy

By geometry, I meant mathematical geometry, as in I don't want you working out it hasn't got a fucking equal radius the whole way round and therefore isn't a circle. Not 'geometry = shapes'. Alright?

Anyway, here's the article - http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/dec/06/how-shapes-predict-your-tolerance-of-deviancy

If a kid drew it, you'd accept it was (meant to be) a circle. If it were presented in a mathematical problem, you wouldn't. I guess that you can ascribe political views to those who see an absolute answer where it clearly doesn't exist is hardly surprising though.

and would come down strongly on even relatively low-level crime, such as drug use and prostitution.

I don't get it. Things have definitions. It isn't a circle based on the definition of a circle. You can't just say "yeah but ignoring that".

Because he wants life to be a Disney film.
