I think I'm going to make the effort to make something out of the Rick Stein India book this weekend, on that note. Haven't in ages but everything I've made in it has been lovely.

Sir Andy Mahowry

I've still only made two things from it. The lamb dopiaza and then the beef vindaloo which ruined the rest of the book for me. I only cook the vindaloo now and can't see myself cooking another curry.

Forgot about this strawberry one too-

I made it using milk and it was perfect. I think a lot of fruit ones can end up quite icy but not that.

Use the best strawberries you can get your hands on i.e. none of the imported shite.

Have you seen that Huel shit, Pepe?

Hadn't seen that one before, but I just googled it. Seems similar to Soylent. I am not sure that just mixing micronutrients and making a drink out of it is as healthy as eating the same amount of nutrients from real food. Just guessing though. Also, I don't like liquid food.

EDIT: The ones I bought are probably BS too, mostly got them out of curiosity/for the lols.

Going to Poland on Wednesday for a few days for an Auntie's 60th.

I was told it's happening at a restaurant which isn't quite a restaurant (it's just a standard venue who will cook some food but you can bring your own food and drinks) and she's ordered some salads for every along with chicken stuffed with mozzarella and peach.

We have two ‘babbies next to each other where I live. On the surface, they look like classic ‘babbies. However, one is your bog standard Turkish donor dross. The schwarma place next door though will do you a double kofta for a third of the price and it’s 735796678534x better. In short - always go to schwarma places if you have a choice.

I can do without the Wasabi ones, but the others are very good. There are basically no bad crisps, but the very best are the ones with shit loads of flavour dust, it's strange that there aren't as many available that have good amounts. It's not like people are eating crisps to be healthy, so just give us what we want.

Ian
18-03-2018, 11:03 AM
I've not had the Wasabi, I've had the Chilli & Lime and Red Hot Chicken Wings (or whatever they're called) so far with a bag of the Jalapeno/Cheese ones to try later.

The flavour dust can't cost that much in itself so you'd think that if anything shitter crisps would make a point of giving you more to hide the fact that they're pretty shit crisps.

I don't think I ever posted about the 23 course tasting menu I had at Disfrutar in Barcelona last summer. They don't give you the menu until the end. I'm seriously glad we didn't go for the extended 27 course option

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhFfDKW_Bn1Ttx3hv0zleuJE1Na9

A lot of it was extremely good, but a couple of things like the "liquid salad" and "pigeon bonbon" were really not great. It was almost as much about the theatre of it as the food, and though it was an enjoyable experience and by far the most expensive meal I've ever eaten, I'm not sure that sort of thing is for me.

The combination of two hours of intense eating, intense alcohol and caffeine consumption and running about Barcelona in the middle of the summer made me puke in the toilet as soon as we got back.

Linguine (or ‘little tongues’) is of course perfect with pesto, but linguine alle vongole (with clams) has to be one of life’s finest pleasures. And, as far as I am concerned, one of the quickest, easiest dishes to make… but please, always in bianco and never, ever with tomatoes!

For the world’s most popular form of pasta, there are many perfect sauces. Especially puttanesca (or whore’s sauce), originally a Neapolitan recipe that’s very delicious whatever the connotations!

There's really not that much difference between linguine and spaghetti but apparently you should never have linguine with tomatoes but puttanesca (tomato-based!) is the perfect dish for spaghetti.

Fish sauce is a condiment made from fish coated in salt and fermented for weeks to up to two years.[1] It is used as a staple seasoning in various cuisines in Southeast and East Asia, particularly Indonesian, Burmese, Cambodian, Filipino, Thai, Lao, and Vietnamese cuisines, although it has become embraced globally by chefs and home cooks for its savory umami flavor. Soy sauce is the vegetarian answer to fish sauce, and, where soy has not grown well, fish sauce usually takes its place as a salty all-purpose seasoning.

It smells like piss.

As for recipes, I don't know. My wife has a book that is good. I'll check out what it is later and post it.

I only make it myself because it's easier/cheaper to get the ingredients than the canned chillies

It's just a bit of umami/saltiness. It's not strong in the recipe.

Ah fair enough.

Figured it is basically salt. There is already salt and chicken stock though, how many salty things do you need? Not that it is a big deal, I'd just usually go for simpler. Then again, I am not into cooking.

Tinga goes great in tostadas btw. Just add some refried beans, cream and a green salsa.

Canned chipotles are a fucker to get this side of the atlantic. I buy the ones in the adobo sauce from an American online shop here but the price is a cunt when I used to get them in Walmart for next to nothing.

I get the chillies themselves, along with pasillas and guajillos for making chilli powder, from South Devon Chilli farm. Their stuff is class.

I get my chillies off eBay. :uhoh:

They've always seemed good.

It was amazing though with some perfectly fried eggs on top.

I do like fried eggs on my chilaquiles. As long as there was no lettuce on them, I am willing to give them a pass.
