Alright, obviously it's scandalous and a travesty that this is now being forced upon us, and apparently it's on all week now, but please do post any #decent deals in here.

I'm looking at buying a DSLR, any reason I shouldn't go for this (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerm/4397829.htm?cmpid=COJUN&catalogId=10001&cjsurferid=878703046763010700)?

It is odd to think that but a few years ago nobody had the first idea what Black Friday was. Now you have plebs beating each other to death in ASDA with heavily discounted LCD TVs.

I guess Amazon is to blame really.

ASDA have said they're not partaking this year, so you'll have to find a ruck elsewhere. Terrible, really, all these hooligans ruining it very everyone else.

I don't understand how having a fire sale just as we go into the biggest retail month of the year makes any sense. Surely they should be ramping the prices up if anything.

It's an Americanism, they have Thanksgiving as a huge shopping weekend too so you shift a load of old stock so you can move the new stuff out of your distribution centers.

It's led by massive retailers who have tat nobody wants at full prices though. Look at that camera James has posted - at full price of £280 it's barely cheaper than the next model up at £350-ish. Knock £100 off the price and it's a good deal that'll clear in no time. They'll still be making some profit but they're just using the run up to Christmas as a way to shove slow stock out the way.

Small retailers joining in are a bit daft though.

So I can program it to come on at like 5 in the morning, and hang it all up before I leave, or program it to come on at 3 so it's ready for when I get in.

As long as it's not noticeably shit (like shuddering frame rate / motion blur) it'll be fine. I just don't really know what to look out for with the specs so was just making sure it isn't completely worthless. As long as it'll do a half decent job for football it'll cover all it's needed for.

I don't understand Black Friday on Amazon.

I just spent about 20 minutes looking at potential Christmas presents for people. I'll be ordering them tomorrow regardless, because it's payday, but in order to get good deals would I need to check every 30 minutes to see if they've been added as a lightning deal? Or will some stuff just be cheaper anyway?

I have 7 items "saved for later." (https://i.imgur.com/Ord9qXx.png) Is it likely they'll be any cheaper tomorrow? Or must I keep going on to check? (Before inevitably ordering them all at 10pm for the prices listed there now, after a whole day of disappointment.)

They jacked everything up to full price and gave a 20% discount voucher, this worked out more expensive than buying it on Thursday would have been.

I just went back now that Friday is over, the prices had been put back down to Thursday's prices and I found a 25% discount voucher.

What utter cuntery that is.

Went to Bicester today after work. It was nowhere as busy as I expected, but that might be down to the horrible weather.

I bought a blazer from Jack Wills. It was meant to be £129, but at the till the guy said "Oh, I thought this was £79." and marked it down manually. There was also an extra 25% off because I spent over £100 (I also bought a lovely jumper), so it ended up being super cheap. I also bought a shirt from Ralph Lauren that is laughably big, so that's going back. But got some nice trainers for £25, so was worth the visit.

Bicester Village?

Yikes.

I was looking at TVs but most of Amazon's deals were rubbish. Their warehouse deals are probably better than any of the Black Friday stuff.

David Atenborough narration on Black Friday footage. Pretty good.

Up to 40% off sale on Ralf Lauren is brilliant. New suit looks likely.

My mob are retailing 500 gig ones for slightly more than that, and spend their lives seething at Samsung's 'price aggression'. My advice is be less shit.

Those 850 EVOs are just about the best going as well.

Surely in that case they're priced out the market by many more than just Samsung?

I'm not 100% on the players in the SSD market but as it's a massive growth market at the moment, Samsung are trying to kill everyone at birth. They can afford to just take people out of the market as they're so massive. It's anti-competitve but then everything in the consumer electronics industry is either bent or dependent on Chinese slave factories.

I assume davgooners link had more off before? 4% saving (£263.98) hardly worthy of a drool. Unless he didn't mean the 1TB one?
