Mate of mine once ordered a £350+ graphics card off Amazon and they sent it via Yodel. Him being at work of course they tried to deliver it while he was out(he had told them not to bother to try between his work hours). He checked the tracking number while at work to see it had been delivered, which was odd as no one was home.
When he got home he found a card posted through the door. The driver had left it in his green wheelie bin. It was bin day...

I went to one of the quarter finals of the world championships for a game I play a few weeks back.

They were out in force there. It is kind of impressive, but I just don't get it. The costs - both in time and money - must be huge as well.

It can be but very often it's not. The Salt Lake Comic-Con is pretty big and in September my dad ended up in an elevator with a couple of stormtroopers, which is pretty funny to me. Conventions like that are becoming more and more common and that's where cosplaying is most popular, I believe.
