Hungary got the away win over Norway today. I was surprised about it, but I kind of want Hungary to make the final tournament for sentimental reasons.

I've just seen that Madagascar are beating Senegal 2-0 at the minute with Mané/Diouf/Kouyaté/others all on the field... I don't recognise any of the Madagascar players, but Senegal didn't call up Papiss Cissé so fuck 'em.

And the Comoros are holding Ghana 0-0 at HT.

The group descriptions don't seem to work very well.

I put in "Ballon D'Or" for the first but it told me that was wrong. Then I put in "five goals" for the second (because I stupidly thought they'd all scored five in one game at some point) and it accepted that as correct.

I'd also say the Pep Guardiola group is a fairly loose connection, but it's a good effort.

I was afraid something like that was going to happen. Getting the linking terms working properly seems like a bit of a bastard.

Totally agree with Dixon on the centre back selection. Play your best two, don't rotate in important preparation games. Whoever are the backup choices have tens of club matches to win their place in the team for next summer (well except Jones, who doesn't play for his club but makes the first eleven for his country...)

Hoolahan really has been invisible. He needs to be deeper though he's being played too far forward.

The left side of this team is deplorable. Brady accomplishing quite the feat of making Stephen Ward only the 2nd worst player of the pair. He should never be let hit a set piece in his life again either.

In this side he's obviously not going to be a threat - who is? - but he's definitely solid. Very little gets down his side, you'll notice. Although I guess when you're having a field day against Brady and Ward why would you bother trying your luck on the other flank.

I was going to come on and echo this a bit. Not many players can have gone through the peaks and troughs he has, in such a relatively short space of time. Looked quality out of non-league/Fulham, then barely looked a professional for a while, back to looking (surprisingly) good again.

I don't think we can really call the two points they gained from those glorious. That they should have had about seven only makes it a bigger failure rather than a glorious one. I'm just afraid that we'll out some moves together without threatening and they will grab one from very few chances due to having some actual class in the side.

I'd missed Poland when I looked. Definitely don't want them again.

Though being in pot 4, everyone will only be going for the 3 games and the session anyway. You'd imagine Wales and Turkey would be the only two likely ones with a realistic chance in that pot if the draw is kind.

I was at the England game last night. The minute's silence/singing was keenly observed and overall it was a pretty good atmosphere. The security wasn't too overt or oppressing and the general vibe was fine, but a little tense.

Fuckloads of people left before the end though. Maybe only a 1/4 were left by full time.

Decent couple of goals but I can't help but think a France team with full mojo would have stomped us. We still move the ball around like it's illegal to play more than two short passes in succession.

We'll get out of the group at the Euros (there are a good 10 genuinely appalling teams that have qualified) and then lose to the first good team we play. That may well be enough for a quarter-final or with a kind draw, a semi.

Roy will certainly have a semi if so.

Yeah, and that's in a Sweden team that since Henrik Larsson retired has basically not had any other player even remotely close to Zlatans level. In a sense it may be a contributing factor in games like against San Marino etc, but still, it's probably more hampering for him.

Zlatan's free kick tonight was disconcertingly casual.

He's been doing that recently, before he would just always smack it really hard and wide (leaving us frustrated that Seb Larsson never got to take any free kicks) but now he's gotten a lot better at it and has a much smoother touch.
