I wasn't at all surprised when he was one of about 3 people who did so badly in their AS exams that they weren't allowed back for year 13, and neither was I surprised when he 'came out' as a bronie on facebook a couple of years ago.

For about 12 months all I ever saw on his wall were pictures of him in my little pony costumes at conventions, and his 18 year old flatmates (he's 23) borderline bullying him in a really passive aggressive way. 'can you please close your door more quietly when you go to bed, it is really unfair when everyone is trying to sleep' - 7 people like this, and they're clearly all his other housemates. His whole life depresses me and makes me feel really sorry for him, but I also can't help but find it morbidly curious.

I think it is an interest. Not fucking children, of course, but the depths of depravity people will sink to. For us, it is simply beyond comprehension, but for them it's entirely normal.
