Apologies if there is a thread of similar ilk already around. I did have a search for the obvious, but couldn't find anything.

I just snapped up Seasons 1-4 of Game of Thrones for £31.99 on Amazon and thought we could use a thread to share other such bargains.

It's also available on Blu-ray for £35.99: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=gbps_img_m-3_8887_a92e645a?rh=i%3Advd%2Cn%3A283926&sort=relevancerank&hidden-keywords=%20B00DY64CR4|B00DY64CM4&ie=UTF8&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=747268887&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=161428031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=7G3TD17W79NAHKDK7613

With Christmas and the JANUARY SALES coming up, there should be a few opportunities to save some money.

Not entirely on topic as I don't think it was a sale price, but I bought the Harry Potter series on Bluray the other day and was pretty surprised that it only cost £23.

Speaking of bargains, does anyone here use Flubit (https://flubit.com/Referral-Scheme/Share/?key=4f55fcfdc74b7eed0a16c024675b3afb)?

First impressions of it are it seems okay but I don't understand how it works, really.

Anyone on the lookout for anything in-particular?

I'm after a coffee machine for my wife. I got overwhelmed by the choices though so have had to take a step back in researching them and just picked this one (https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8642848) in the Argos catalogue. :sorry: £69.99 down from £79.99. Will wait til Friday to see if it goes any cheaper, I guess.

I want a PS4 Pro.Console only? Any preferred games? Any games you definitely don't want?

I'd wait til Friday but for reference at the moment the cheapest console only is £339 from AO. With RDR2 it's £349, also from AO.

The Red Dead bundle has the latest version of the pro, it runs slightly warmer but by all accounts this means it’s a hell of a lot quieter.

If the playstation timeline is anything to go by, then the PS5 or whatever it is called, will be with us before 2020

Each PlayStation has been a massive improvement on the last, how do they do that this time? Has tech progressed enough to warrant it?

There wasn't that much of a technological leap last time, just an architectural one with the move to x86. This'll just be a Playstation than can play 4k rather than upscaling like the Pro currently does. Nothing world bending.

I dunno. They straight up put Pcsx into the Mini-Playstation. Hopefully they're working on some kind of software emulation for the big box. PS3's probably the only hurdle to that.

Why wouldn't they? It's open source. They don't want people registering their old games, they want people to pay for them again. 30% of this console cycle has been funded by releasing uprezzed games. Microsoft aren't doing that now because they're behind but they've got the exact same thinking with GamePass. To the point they're releasing an XBOX ONE without a disk drive next year.

My prediction:
PS5 will be a traditional console along the lines of actual 4k PS-Pro with the ability to stream games to a tablet/smart TV etc. through Playstation Now.

XBOX will come in two skews, one beefy XBOX ONE X style console and a secondary type that has no disk-drive where you pay an iPhone like contract that includes a subscription service to Live + Gamepass and upgrade every few years.

The 50% of people that don't buy physical games and want 100 quid off.

You can already pay Microsoft 12 quid a month to get a Netflix selection style that includes: 240 games - 154 on Xbox One, 35 on Xbox 360, 56 from Xbox Live Arcade and one from the original Xbox.

Which is where they want to make their money rather than giving GAME/Electronics Boutique a 30% cut of every sale.

edit: Just for example, what are you more likely to be sold on; a 500 quid console that you can buy physical games for or a 30 quid a month contract that comes with 100+ free games but no disk drive.

No-one will actually say it out loud because retailers don't want to bring it up and games don't want to piss off retailers but from what I understand it's around there (but chages game by game)

Probably right. Given that retail (I'm talking GAME, basically) charge RRP, you'd probably prefer to pre-load or download for the same amount of money at release. Hopefully fibre becomes the bog standard internet by then.

If you're going to have it with water stick to basic ones like strawberry or banana. The fruit ones might work in smoothies and that (I wouldn't know), but things like caramel, vanilla, cookies and cream etc. only work with milk. I currently have a birthday cake one on the go that is great mixed into porridge but in water it just tastes like off milk.
