Do they tend to get overrated or just overhyped in advance?

With the exception of the match with Cena that became about 15 minutes of finisher-spam I think that while a bunch of his matches have been below expectations (his run where he had all the Owens / Nakamura / Joe matches in particular) but I think broadly speaking they get the credit they do or don't deserve.

EDIT: Well and the Boneryard, of course, but I know I'm fighting a losing battle on that one.

That band at the start was absolute dogshit.

As much as the build and placement on the card made it feel like filler I quite enjoyed the womens tag match.

Balor vs. Priest I thought was fine but unremarkable. Fair play to Priest taking that stairs bump even if it wasn't how he intended it.

Lee vs. Gargano I really enjoyed. Lee is immense, obvs, great heel work from Gargano and he didn't resort to stupid elaborate flippy sequences and I loved that both of them kept up the eye / fingers stuff too.

Cole vs. Dream - A steaming heap of excrement. The way it was filmed was like a Kevin Dunn wet dream. I didn't have high hopes for a normal match between them anyway because of the poor build and finding Cole's style to be hit and miss but this was awful stuff.

Kross and Ciampa was interesting. Kross' moveset continues to look very convincing and this match did exactly what they'd have been hoping for but I didn't expect him to run through Ciampa this way. I assume their next match will be a bit more even.

The main event was comfortably the best thing on the card for me and I was pleased they didn't resort to just taking it in turns to lie down five minutes. A little sloppy in places and that ending didn't look fun for Ripley but I really enjoyed this one. There's been absolutely no point in what they've been doing with Charlotte this year beyond to get some accolades in the book for her. I'm sick of her being all over every show (it sounds like she accounted for about a quarter of Raw last night) because she clogs up the title scenes by never being out of it. Delighted for Shirai but they could just have easily had her be ending a longer Ripley rein at this point. Those two are really good though. Ripley is a star and I loved her intensity in this match.
