The company (Vince) really hates Asuka don't they?

Loses the streak at WM (fine with that) then made to look like a mong by James fucking Ellsworth. Then they have her randomly entered into a Lynch/Flair match and win the title only for her to disappear from TV and have her lose to Mandy Rose when she comes back.

Oh and why the fuck do they keep having Lacey Evans walk down the ramp, throw a disgusted look and then walk back?

Browning

I like Mandy Rose but that Asuka thing was one of the worst booked matches I have seen in ages. It would have been better to have her lose off the Evans walk out that off being dropped lightly onto the second rope.

Evans is meant to be one of the women they are going to build the division round post mania and supposedly she’s the front runner to challenge Asuka at mania... which makes it all the weirder.

Just what you need to liven up your stale tv show, someone from 30 years ago.

In other news, my main takeaway from the two Honour Rising shows is how much I've missed heel Marty Scurll, there really is no-one better. Will Ospreay managed to do his new finisher on Jeff Cobb and it didn't look shit which seems sort of impossible. Roll on NJ Cup, if they manage to beat last year we're in for a treat.

I don't really see why you'd have a problem with Reigns as an individual performer if you look at his matches, etc. in isolation rather than as part of the ludicrous booking.

Also if he's ready to go I dunno why you wouldn't have him murderspear Ambrose to come back for the stuff around the time he announced he'd had a relapse. Unless they're trying to pretend some of Ambrose's promos around the time didn't happen.

The booking and handling of NXT call ups is still all over the fucking place but Smackdown was, taking everything in isolation, pretty good this week.

Not keen on KO just having the Stunner as his finisher, if that's what's happening. Especially if it's going to come with Todd Phillips shouting "Oh hell yeah!" for however long Owens is pretending to be a babyface.

Ian
28-02-2019, 09:59 AM
If there's a finisher you can do OUTTANOWHERE then that will become the main one.

Given how barely anybody's finisher actually counts for shit anymore I personally quite like the idea of people having a main big move that will win them the majority of matches and then something on a grander scale that they pull out for the big occasions.

Heel Neville did this perfectly, using the Red Arrow both to tease the crowd but still using it in matches where he just wanted to put the fucker away.

There was a point watching Fastlane yesterday where I convinced myself I was having a pretty good time but then realised it was basically that they'd put everything that passed for the good stuff in middle. They had a particularly bad night for satisfying endings and if this current business with Kofi is anything to go by Vince's current gimmick is 'dementia.'

Though my absolute favourite thing about it was the AJ / Keith thing.

Keith randomly appears to attack Elias for literally no reason, and then he gets jumped by AJ who has presumably been following him around all night like a pervert just in case he hits the ring.

Not sure, I can't see Okada losing clean and they do seem to prefer keeping the big changes for Japan so it could easily be Knife Pervert via Gedo based shenanigans. Then again, Okada winning the title back at MSG makes a hell of a headline for what must be a very important show tor them.

I'll go for Okada to set up Naito vs Okada at WK for both belts.

Because I've been busier I've been in the habit of checking results and watching anything I care about on Raw / Smackdown recently but this week I'm going to try and avoid Smackdown spoilers because it's been pretty good and it'd be nice to at least be surprised with whatever nonsense they have Vince do next.

The Smackdown women's division has effectively been abandoned though, because they don't let Asuka actually do much and they've taken it's two biggest stars having made no effort to build up anybody else properly before hand.

Ian
28-03-2019, 07:27 AM
Okay yeah I've watched Smackdown now and I've no fucking idea what's going on with the women's division. They wouldn't unify the belts would they? I think that'd be a good think at this point as they clearly aren't prepared to properly push two sets of people but they would probably think that would count as a step back in their glorious progressiveness.

There are a lot of options of things this could be doing but I find it hard to believe they take Charlotte out of the main event of Mania so that narrows the likely options somewhat.

EDIT: Also what the fuck is up with Stone Cold Mike Mizanin mullering about 12 people?

So they finally gave Kofi Kingston a WWE title shot?

Can't be mad with that.

Gray Fox
28-03-2019, 03:58 PM
Well not quite. Vince did say at the end of the show he still wasn't sure a "B+ player" could take on someone like Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania. There's 1 more Smackdown to go so expect 1 more gauntlet match or something.

As for the womens titles, I can only assume one of 2 outcomes.

1. They're unifying the titles. This makes the most sense of the 2 options. The Womens rumble proved there isn't really that many stars that could carry 2 big titles and then the tag titles as well.
2. They doing an angle trying to make Becky look even stronger in victory by being the only one without a title going into it.

They could do both at the same time, but who knows.

Shindig
28-03-2019, 04:02 PM
They don't tend to allow stars to switch brands by going for either title at the PPV's, do they? I think they should.

Looking at the current card as it stands, it looks like a solid hot fucking mess. The Battle Royale is clearly going to Strowman unless some random NXT superstar gets called up and wins it instead (Adam Cole??). Mahow must be proper seething that his favourite 205 wrestler isn't in the Cruiserweight title picture so that's staying with Buddy Murphy. Triple Haitch putting his career on the line is fucking funny in itself so he'll win against Batista who only cares about promoting whatever fucking film is in his pipeline (Avengers Endgame?).

The Women's triple threat match can go either way so I'd imagine Vince wants that title put on Charlotte to keep her dad happy. I heard Rousey has gone heel which is  in itself so hopefully she'll win it. Reigns-McIntyre sounded like it got thrown together last minute because Ambrose has pretty much not bothered signing another contract and fucked off, don't blame him really. Miz and Shane have broken up as a team I'm assuming and are now fist fighting each other for the memes. Samoa Joe and Bobby Lashley are now mid-card champions? Okay :D

Dunno what the point of Orton-AJ Styles is apart from maybe bums on seats and Kurt Angle's final match is against Baron Corbin? :face:

Oh yeah the women's division have a tag team title now?

Amazing.

Ian
28-03-2019, 04:16 PM
It'll at least be better than that so long as Bryan doesn't hit a running knee then go for a hotdog before pinning him but Kofi winning would be the sensible thing, even if he probably then loses it back at the following PPV.

Ian
28-03-2019, 04:23 PM
He really fucking shouldn't so he definitely will, which will give Browning one thing to enjoy about the show anyway.

Sir Andy Mahowry
28-03-2019, 04:30 PM
I don't have a favourite 205 guy since Mustafa Ali left.

It probably is now Buddy Murphy as he's so far ahead of the others although I would like Drew Gulak to hold the belt at one point.

Oh and Batista will win, he wouldn't come back just to lose and Haitch putting HIS CAREER ON THE LINE makes it even more likely.

Accidentally stumbled on the next Takeover's Wiki page and I've had something spoiled for me but it has also confused me.

Played out fully last week.

I was miffed for two reasons. Firstly the team of Aleister Black and Ricochet although they then started teaming up on the main roster and they had a run in with Undisputed Era so that was explained. The second being that the Forgotten Sons got to win 2 matches and go to the final, I understood them beating Lorcan and Burch but don't know why they got the win over Moustache Mountain. Not that it matters as Black/O'Shea were always going to win but I'd have loved them fighting Moustache Mountain or even UE (with a change in the brackets) in the final.

Ian
03-04-2019, 04:28 PM
I imagine it's just that this is the first time Forgotten Sons have done literally anything of note and they're actually going to start building them up from now even if they're not going to win the whole thing (though that wouldn't totally surprise me.)

The whole tag team competition was borked from the start, two teams of guys already called up to the main roster and one that's totally forgettable (it's even in the name!). So now we're left with a title match in which the result is either completely predictable or really fucking stupid.

Sir Andy Mahowry
03-04-2019, 05:00 PM
It should have been Undisputed Era.

We've technically not had the match before (as Bobby Fish was teaming with KOR rather than Roddy) and it would have made a lot of sense seeing as they're saying that they're aiming to win all the gold this year.

Wouldn't have minded Aichner/Barthel either but it's probably a bit too soon for them.

I really do not understand NXT's hype. There was some bloke called Johnny Wrestling that looked about as hard as I am taking on Jay from Jay & Silent Bob as the main event.

Have you watched an event? Especially the one the other night in New York.

I've heard some that didn't get WALTER/Dunne as it's completely different to the current style but it was probably my favourite match.

I downloaded it when I came home pissed the other night and found myself fast forwarding through it all. Feels low stakes.

So you've not even bothered to judge it fairly.

Well played.

The main roster is (mostly) such a pile of hot garbage that anything resembling sensible booking and matches containing some semblance of narrative seems like the second coming of grapple-christ.

Edit: FFS, at least give it a proper chance you mong. :D

I'm with Mahow too, Dunne / VValter was the match of the night, closely followed by the tag match that opened the show, those big lads are something else.

I could probably make a case for any of the first three matches.

Yeah, I'm not sure why Gargano/Cole is getting as much love as it's getting. Quality match but I think it was a clear number 4.

The pacing for the first two falls wasn't right, the first two falls were also pretty tame and I didn't like Gargano channelling prime Cena and Roman to kick out of everything.

How long until this thing kicks off then?

Kick off show has started.

Also, fuck you all bar Pleb for not doing any picks.

Especially you Fox for asking for it, nonce.

I think this is his first MAIN ROSTER PPV. He's usually shitting it up along with Sam on the NXT ones.

Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Tony Nese

The glorious empowering Women after decades of shitting on them Battle Royal: Asuka I guess

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal: EDIT: Give me young Ali

Raw Tag Team Championship: The Revival (c) vs. Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) vs. Ricochet & Aleister Black vs. The Bar vs. Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura

Kurt Angle vs. Jezza - I think somehow John Cena comes out for this instead of BaRoN cOrBiN

The Miz vs. Shane McMahon (Falls Count Anywhere)

Women's Tag Team Championship: Sasha Banks & Bayley (c) vs. Beth Phoenix & Natalya vs. Nia Jax & Tamina vs. The IIconics - I bet Sasha and Bayley retain but I love the IIconics so much

United States Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs Rey Mysterio - they have Rey as one of the superstars on the "SMACKDOWN COMING TO FOX" promos so I'm just guessing

Intercontinental Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Finn Balor - Lashley retains and Balor becomes apart of the main title picture again

AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton

Triple H vs. Batista (No Holds Barred)

Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre - I bet they'll try to swerve the crowd and then give Roman this big fuckin ROAD TO REDEMPTION story about how he's been so drained cause of the cancer he has to #REBUILD

WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kofi Kingston

Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins - they don't have the fuckin balls

Raw, SmackDown Women's Championships: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Becky Lynch - Charlotte wins, Ronda fucks off, Becky v Charlotte is the new feud leading up to SummerSlam i.e, "I've had to work for all I got! vs. You've had everything handed to you!"

Here you go, Mahow:

Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Tony Nese
The glorious empowering Women after decades of shitting on them Battle Royal: I'll say Asuka but given how pointless these are this may be when they have Evans actually do something.
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal- Probably those sodding SNL twats
Raw Tag Team Championship: The Revival (c) vs. Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins. Sigh.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) vs. Ricochet & Aleister Black vs. The Bar vs. Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura - Not certain for this one. If O'Shea / Black don't win they're not eating the pinfall. That'll probably be poor Rusev.
Kurt Angle vs. Jezza
The Miz vs. Shane McMahon (Falls Count Anywhere)
Women's Tag Team Championship: Sasha Banks & Bayley (c) vs. Beth Phoenix & Natalya vs. Nia Jax & Tamina vs. The IIconics
United States Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
Intercontinental Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Finn Balor
AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
Triple H vs. Batista (No Holds Barred)
Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre - Wouldn't be surprised to see this go to a non-finish. I don't think Reigns loses though.
WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kofi Kingston
Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins
Raw, SmackDown Women's Championships: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Becky Lynch

I've got too many faces winning there, I think. And I'm not really sold on how I think either match will go. Rollins and Kofi both ought to be winning and have your downer results elsewhere.

Yeah I thought the end made UE look a bit rubbish. Should've had that midway through or for Cole's first fall then the ref chuck them all out, have Gargano kick out of Cole's attempt at a quick second fall because he's had time to recover and then go from there.

Yep.

4 matches (2 of which are battle royals) and there's so much bullshit spouted from panellists.

Pre-show matches are usually pretty good too but always way too short.
