Todays afternoon musing: Bianca Belair.

What is an 'Est' and why is she one? Also, how do we feel about the hair? It doesn't seem quite within the spirit of the rules to me but then again it is in a 'Universe' where Big Show was allowed to have a hand cast in the shape of a club and Lex Luger got a metal plate installed in his arm.

I don't like the whole 'EST' thing but she has a lot of potential.

Also, Andrade Cien Almas having a match with AJ  They worked the match really well and I hope he gets a big push as he looks quality.

Seemingly it just means “best”.

Sir Andy Mahowry
18-07-2018, 05:13 PM
That she's the bEST, the strongEST, the fastEST etc.

Seemingly they haven't thought about the fact that makes her the weakest or the slowest etc too.

I didn't get it for a while until a commentator explained what she meant by the EST.

Here are the names announced for the second Mae Young Classic:

Deonna Purrazzo
Io Shirai
Jessie Elaban
Jinny
Kacy Catanzaro
Kaitlyn
Nicole Matthews
Reina Gonzalez
Rhea Ripley
Tegan Nox.

I decided to write them as I knew 10 names were announced and I assumed 12 would be the final tally. It's going to be 32 though.

I'd imagine that Toni Storm, Isla Dawn and Killer Kelly will be announced as they performed at the UK Championship. I can also see them announcing Marina Shafir (just found out she's married to Roderick Strong too) and Jessamyn Duke to complete THE FOUR HORSEWOMEN set as they've been training for a few months at the performance centre.

Can't see past Io Shirai though.

To be fair, it's taken a good 2 years to get to this point. This is a combination of people being sick of Lesnar overall and Roman just happening to be the guy he's facing. It'd probably be the same if this were Baron Corbin.

But if you take away Heyman that pretty much is Lesnar. The guy himself has probably had about an hours worth of ringtime and said maybe a paragraph throughout the title reign.

Best case scenario is Reigns wins and immediately gets crushed by Strowman.

Vince knows he’s the only legitimate star they have, other than Ronda. He’s booking him perfectly to keep him as a star attraction. Obviously in an idea world WWE world hire decent bookers who could book Brock every week and not ruin him but in this reality even if Brock was there every week he would probably be approaching match 57 against Reigns (the previous 56 being split 28-28 with Reigns winning the non title ones or by DQ) and no one would care anymore.

To Phonic’s point, me quitting altogether is a very recent thing. I don’t got my opinions from these people, the only reason I really read it is because I enjoy the content that the channel puts out, but even that is getting boring now. Basically the only joy I get from WWE these days (except for Ronda, who is amazing) is reading them acting like the apocalypse is happening every time Brock retains, so long may it continue.

As for the indies, I tend to go to Indy shows if Ospreay is on them and they are local. I’ve always enjoyed it, but I struggle to get into the same shows if I watch them online instead of being there. I’m not sure why I’ve not tried NJPW, but it’s probably because I don’t really have the time for it anymore anyway.

NJPW, ROH, RevPro, PWG, Impact and the Indies in general have such a healthy positive vibe amongst the fans for the most part.

Smarks seem to only exist within the WWE universe.

There is definitely an element of self-satisfaction with some of this though, just as there is with anything when people are confident they're into the better thing.

Of course the variety of wrestling for different tastes makes it easier for people to find something they like whereas I imagine a lot of non-child WWE fans are like me where force of habit is still enough to counter the fact that it's a bit crap at least half the time and only genuinely good maybe 5% of the time just now. I should really be watching NXT properly because I love the Takeovers and given I get through WWE TV shows in about half their running time I have room for some more wrestling in my life.

Actually the the week before as the Undisputed Era/Moustache Mountain rematch was great.

NJPW fans, how many titles are there?

Third undercard match and I've seen two titles.

It's split into Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight divisions (with some crossover in tag matches and occasionally singles) with several titles:

Heavyweight title (Omega) - Top title
Intercontinental title (Jericho) - Second tier title
US title (Juice Robinson) - Only about a year old but has been fairly strongly booked so far.
Never Openweight title (Goto?) - Lower tier title which I think anyone can challenge for.
Junior Heavyweight title (Hiromu) - Top title for the 'juniors'
Heavyweight Tag titles (Young Bucks)
Junior Heavyweight Tag titles (Desperado & Kanemaru)
6 Man Tag titles (Bucks & Marty Scurll)

For the G1 shows it's split between the A & B blocks, so every night you'll have a few tag matches between people in (for example) A Block, often teasing/setting up angles for matches on the next show. The you'll have some G1 singles matches from the other block, and vice versa the next night. The tags aren't essential viewing but they do contain some story bits and can still be really good (there's a LIJ match early in the G1 which was fantastic).

Sir Andy Mahowry

Just watched last week's NXT and they have a solution for Roman.

Call up Ciampa and get him in a feud with THE ULTIMATE VINCE'S BOY BABYFACE, no one is drawing as much heat as Ciampa is doing so on NXT.

Edit: Also getting some G1 day two tag matches. The Suzuki/Makabe stuff bits in there was fucking brilliant (there was one elbow that Suzuki hit that sounded completely legit too, I can't wait to watch their singles match) but why does he hate the English commentators? Yeah because he's booked properly and his "only" being 6ft isn't a reason to bury him on NXT. On the main roster he'd be losing to Jinder within the month and unforgiveably reunited with Gargano within two .

Listening to old episodes of MLW podcast….during episode 49, former WWE Writer Court Bauer tells a story about Randy Orton showing his dick to new writers, touching it, and asking them to shake his hand.

Court Bauer on Randy Orton: “For every new writer that would show up, he come in the room put his hand down his pants, pull out his dick, touch himself, then say “I’m Randy Orton, shake my hand…oh you dont want to shake my hand? You’re big leaguing me? That’s fucked up man. Should I tell Vince and Steph you wont shake Randy Ortons hand?”

The writers would all start sweating and backing up into the corner, the guys dick is still hanging out, and he would be there cutting a promo on a guy with his dick hanging out for like five minutes. Court goes on to say Orton was very intense so you could never tell if he was fucking with you or he was really hot.

Court says he was lucky…Randy did it to him on the 1st day he was with the company at tv and just as he was about to pull his dick out, Stephanie walked in, and that shit went right back in his pants. Court describes it as a teacher entering the classroom.

When asked if he would have shaken his hand, Court says “I dont know. I’m a bit of a germaphobe.” Court says this was something Orton did during his [Court’s] entire time at the WWE, and he is surprised Orton didnt get hit with sexual harassment.

Sounds like something he'd do.

The Kevin Owens match was genuinely weird.

I went to bed after AJ v Samoa Joe. Either Joe's athleticism is fucking crazy Or everyone else is just slow. The speed/power of his kicks are insane. That one hitting AJ off the top rope was better than most footballers.

That match and the idea of how it ended works but the actual moves that were done sucked. A spear into a wall and 3-4 chair shots? The man tried to split your family apart and you give him what Mankind would refer to as a casual dark match.

There was so much build-up to Owens getting the briefcase that for there to not even be an attempt at shenanigans was nonsense.

My problem was that he didn't beat him up enough. From the video they played before I guess the thing is he's been beaten a lot in the last few weeks but if a couple of running shoulder barges and a slam outside the ring is enough to pin him it doesn't make sense. My only guess is that the slam on the ramp genuinely fucked up his back so they cut it short?

That was my problem with the show I watched, I understand that it's just what modern wrestling is but seth rollins doing a reverse superplex off the top rope into a spinning superplex gets a 2.5 count these days, every pin where someone hasn't been actually murdered via a 9mm seems pathetic.

There's no bar for what is a beating anymore.

That's the problem with the supposed 5 star formula these days. It's just big move, 2 count, big move, 2 count, big move, 2 count until someone doesn't kick out. It's fucking boring. I blame the Cena/Owens series of matches getting jacked off too so much, but it probably started before that. It's the only way WWE seems to be able to make a match seem better than any other these days though. Those big moves are going to get bigger and bigger.... just to make the latest spot fest feel better than the one before. But of course when the guy who has a clothesline or similar shit move for a finisher hits that, they'll stay down.

I wonder if they're just carrying on with the original plan of Ambrose turning on Rollins even though they confirmed that was going to happen in a book they released.

Summerslam was ok but all of the Braun Strowman stuff was weird. If you have the rule that a champion can lose something even with a countout or DQ you don't just have them win a clean squash, and then when Brock throws his briefcase onto the stage that's the last you ever see of the MONSTER.

Ian

It's all a bit video games where the one that's designated as the finisher is magically more powerful.

The tease of the Musclebuster was fucking weird too. It's barely or never been on WWE TV so why they expected the crowd to get pumped I don't know.

Americans need visual clues like that to remind themselves, they're not the smartest.

All In is being replayed on NJPW which is pretty bloody big.

I wonder if it's just a live feed or if the VOD will be available.

It wont be live as ROH and FITE have the rights. Will you be watching it?

Lolled at Jeff Hardy saying that Orton made him believe he could fly.

That's the drugs mate.

Wasn’t Jeff flying long before Orton was a thing?

WWE don't know what to do with pretty much everyone bar 'ROMAN MUST BE THE TOP DAWG ULTIMATE FACE'.

Turning Boatman heel because he's facing Reigns the latest in a long line of lulzy decisions.

If somehow it can lead to a load of those Shield vs Wyatt six man matches but with Brawn instead of Rowan I'm All In©

So what manner of terrible thing is Jeff Hardy going to do to himself in / off / through the cell? I've seen a few things of him saying that he is kinda desperate to do one before he retires / leaves WWE.

Just a Swanton off the cell through a table full of beanbags?

If he does a swanton off the cell he'd probably finally finish off his back.

I wasn't planning on doing so but I've just spotted that Steven 'Green Arrow' Amell is in a match and Billy Gunn is in the Rumble.

Best thing to ever happen in wrestling if he comes out to 'Ass Man'.

Complete waste of time if he doesn't.

So, Cena has been HYPING a new '6th move of DOOM' for his return and here it is:

Meant as a joke but fuck me, having to actually be pinned after that is disgraceful.

Yeah All In reviews all seem very positive. Which isn't surprisiing equally because of the talent on the card and because the internet would have me believe you simply don't get bad non-WWE/TNA shows any more.

The only thing I don't like about TNA at the moment is Joe Hendry singing every week.
