Bullshit, it was a fucking cesspit of bullshit.

This run to the MITB has been woeful.

If there had only been two episodes of Raw this year Raw 25 would still be about sixth-best.

Even by their own standards the inconsistency is ludicrous.

How is he still that shit after years of full-time training? Is he simply the worst athlete in the sport?

The guy he fought on Saturday is well into his thirties and had lost his only previous professional fight. He was showboating like a prime Ali and Punk still couldn't get near him.

He came to it late and clearly just has no natural aptitude. He doesn't look like a great athlete either, but being a great athlete isn't really necessary until you get to the real upper echelons. He's had at least four years of proper training and on Saturday he was still doing things on the ground that made no sense and would be actively discouraged by a competent coach. That's a mental thing, so he just isn't cut out for it in any way.

He came at it at 37, with no previous training. He's lucky they didn't give him anyone seriously good or he'd be hurt bad.

Respect to him for not throwing in the towel and also giving it a go at getting better. He's just not cut for it. There's no point in taking up serious MMA training now he's 39. He'd get easily 5-10 years more from a wrestling promotion, he still has a pretty big reputation and would draw well. Even though those things have taken a dent with the UFC fights.

He said before the fight he was 100% done with wrestling. So maybe he just rides off into the sunset with AJ Lee and his pile of money.

He had his first fight at 37, but he'd signed the contract two years previously and trained full time for those two years, as well as claiming to have been training on and off as his schedule would allow for at least a decade before that. He shouldn't have been as bad as he was.

I didn't realise he's had 4 years of training. What the hells he been doing? Round 1 of his second fight was okay, but it went way downhill after. He seemed to want to take it to the ground but had no actual idea what to do when it got there. After that it was wild swinging.

He's so far away from being a natural athlete and only got good at wrestling through sheer hard work and perseverence where others take to it quickly, but obviously those don't translate as well to something where people are legitimately out to smash your face in.

Before things get under way tonight (I won’t be watching it live anyway but I’ll watch it tomorrow before I cancel the network) I want to place on record that Charlotte should be winning it and cashing in during Carmella vs Asuka. It won’t happen and they will go with something boring like Nattie wins because her and Ronda are best mates... but yea, when Carmella wins clean (or via Ellsworth) it’ll sum up how badly booked things are right now.

Literally couldn’t give a toss about the men’s one. Miz would be nice I guess.

I didn't hate significant portions of MITB. The women's ladder match was great, I have a lot of time for an instant cash in too (as long as you don't think too hard about the very recent booking of everyone involved). Rollings was great again. The last man standing match was pretty good for such an inherently shit stipulation, fair play to Nakamura for taking that Style Clash and letting AJ hoof him right in the plums.

Browning

I'm normally the first to praise the women these days (they've kept me somewhat interested when my interest in any male storyline has reached 0) but I thought the MITB match was average at best. No real drama, just plodding along until Becky/Bliss botched the ending.

Ronda Vs Nia and the cash in afterwards was good stuff though.

I did not watch Styles Vs Nakamura and despite the reviews, I won't. They've burnt me with 3 piss poor matches, so fuck them.

I thought the women's one started well with a few nifty sequences but as you say became a bit plodding and that sequence where there were loads of them on two ladders felt endless. I think it was better than last year's but still suffers for a lack of proper bumps.

Fair enough, I didn't really consider Taker, he's kind of in a group all on his own. Vaders best stuff was in WCW, genuinely great monster heel stuff, the WWF runs in 98(?) were shite in comparison.

In other news: G1 brackets were out this week, most of Chaos seems to be in group A along with Tanahashi which means we get another match with him and Okada. B block highlight has to be Omega and Ibushi but ZSJ is in there too, for a minute I thought Suzuki would be in there but no luck there.

Yeah, with experience it should get better.

She looked a lot better putting Bliss through a table than Triple H. Although the reduced weight would have helped.

I skimmed through the show:

Pre-Show- didn't watch it
B Team Vs Deleters- So bland and boring, didn't care either way. Bray Wyatt still absolutely sucks.
Balor Vs Cuntstable Boring- Skipped it.
Asuka Vs Carmella- Fucking awful, with another stupid ending.
Nakamura Vs Jeff- Pointless, but I'm guessing Jeff wasn't capable of more.
Strowman Vs Owens- Both of them look like complete morons. At least Owens won so Shania has to live up to the deal.
SD Tag Titles- Crap match with nothing to redeem it. The Wacky Races team are boring as fuck now.
Reigns Vs Lashley- Skipped it
Nia Vs Alexa- Crap. No idea why Nattie was out there (yea she's Ronda's mate, but Ronda wasn't in the match). Really, really poor weapon spots. Glad Alexa won, but her worst match in ages.
Rusev Vs Styles- Boring. Predictable. Nothing to see here.
Ziggler Vs Rollins- Didn't like it at all. Both are obviously talented, but the booking was shitty. Rollins completed mugged Ziggler off beating him twice inside 10 minutes (was it 5 even?) and then the actual finish was shite too. It's not a new match Corey. They better not use that to ignore Drew showing up again because it's completely not true. Needed a better ending to close the show.

Overall, just as bad as I expected, and nothing to convince me to change my mind on the cancellation. If we get Alexa Vs Ronda at Summerslam, I may watch that, but that will be about all I care about.

I don't know why anyone would be interested in all that nonsense when you could see James Ellsworth hanging upside down from a cage instead.

Thus far I would encourage people to seek out:

Yano v Ishii
ZSJ v Ibushi
Omega v Naito
Page v Elgin

Just watched NXT and I think the tag team match was even better than the one they had in the Albert Hall.

Brilliant performance by all 4 in the match and I thought the ending was well worked.

Page is going to be at least a ROH World Champion at some point in his career.

Bit cheeky of them to nick one of HHH's Wrestlemania entrances at the bottom there.

I would call that a low point but it's hard to identify one turd in the cesspool that was Extreme Rules.

If he doesn't break his neck first.

I watched Extreme Rules yesterday afternoon while ironing and packing for my holiday, and it was probably the worst PPV I've seen in years. I enjoyed Owens' bump, but the rest of the show was just abysmal. I found myself focusing on the ironing more than the TV.

Fucking lol at Reigns/Lashley to determine the number 1 contender a week after a PPV where they had a match attempting to become the number 1 contender.

I wouldn't have even put Reigns and Rollins (although he does deserve it based on what he's done this year) into the running after losing yesterday.

Lashley will go on to a Summerslam match against Hogan to determine once and for all which colour is best.

Lashley will probably take a knee for the national anthem just before the match too.

It's funny the things you notice in wrestling.

Like Danny Burch and his big pants, not so big that they're comical but big enough to be vaguely unsettling. Also, on NXT last week Adam Cole exposed a ghostly white knobbly knee and now I'm not sure I can take him seriously. Like when Cody Rhodes used to wrestle without kneepads and it was all I could look at during his matches.

I've missed heel Orton.

Get him punting half of the roster again please.

The bit where he pulled at Jeff Hardy's goth earhole thing was one of the most gruesome things I've seen in ages, genuinely thought it was a prosthetic that he was going to rip off.

Todays afternoon musing: Bianca Belair.

What is an 'Est' and why is she one? Also, how do we feel about the hair? It doesn't seem quite within the spirit of the rules to me but then again it is in a 'Universe' where Big Show was allowed to have a hand cast in the shape of a club and Lex Luger got a metal plate installed in his arm.

Is just doing anything other than tying it up before whipping folk with it? Sounds like a breach of the spirit of the rules rather than the rules themselves.

Also a genuine reason for a future hair vs. hair match.

I've missed nothing about any variant of Orton.

The thing where she deadlifts her opponents is ace, there will be something wrong if she doesn't make it huge the proper way, presented as a star for two weeks on the main roster before losing via distraction rollup.
