Wasn't this new software supposed to prevent THE BOTS from taking over?

Yeah, I've deleted about 7 threads and banned the same number of members and there are still shitloads left. :moop:

I've put on registration moderation for now. We should sort this out ASAP.

Not saying anything, but presumably legit, up to date software would have al the various bot killing apparatuses that we need.

Looks like I never re-installed all the anti-spam stuff after the first death.

I don't have the FTP settings of this .co.uk domain so I'll have a word with SvN later.

edit: Means me broke onto Google though

Everytime I go to thethirdhalf.co.uk I'm getting some sort of redirect. Hmm....

FTP details are the same as before, just replace .ml with .co.uk in the server and username

I changed the FTP one not the username :moop:

Do you mind taking a back-up SvN and I'll install it at like 15:00 GMT?

On a serious note, we should look to promote the site in various other places and bring in new members.

Wasn't the Twitter account going to have us swimming in fresh meat?

That was my fault. I've fixed it now.

I wanted to prevent bots from cruising around the site, so I switched off guest viewing (unregistered/not logged in). It's fixed up now so that guests can view the forum (and hence log in), but they can't go inside threads.

So it happened specifically today signing up 221 'members' (and a real guy called @Tommy Bryce (http://www.thethirdhalf.co.uk/member.php?u=175), hi Tommy!) but none of them are active as the Member List still stands at 196, weirdly. They all joined today so I can only presume it's because this is the first time we've been Google cached as we're on a .co.uk site instead of .ml(which Google probably largely ignores)?

All just speculaction.

:sherlock: anyway.

I've just taken a backup, so feel free to do your thing.

Installed. All the random users have disappeared (or was that you SvN?).

You can see the stats on the front page so I'm going to keep an eye on that going up and see if any other counter measures will be needed.

Mark will be laughing his head off.

Nah, it auto redirects them through StopForumSpam.org so looks like we're covered and shouldn't hit bandwidth whatsoever.

Who's laughing now, Mark, you four-eyed wank?
