Why do all graphics produced for the show look like they were made in the 90s and the candidates have to pretend it's the most cutting edge shit ever.

I'm guessing it must either rate inexplicably well, or sell inexplicably well overseas, or be much cheaper to make than it appears to be, or some combination of these.

From some furious research I've concluded that it doesn't sell overseas, but does still rate quite well and is cheap to make.
