100m in 10.2 seconds. 200m in 20.69 seconds. Sixteen years old.

When can we bet on him to break both WRs?

I'm not sure those times are that good at 16 and he's probably already 27 years old anyway.

10.29 for the 100m and his 200m time had heavy wind.

His start is crap and he'll need to sort that out.

The afterburners are pretty categorical there, to the point they probably need to put a huge swimming pool at the end of the track so he can stop.

My suspicions were right. Bolt ran 20.58 when he was 15 in the 200m. He didn't start doing the 100m until a few years later so no comparison for that one.

Good to see AE making a name for himself.

20.33 in the 200m for Erriyon Knighton at 16.

What sort of name is Gout Gout?

Aren't sprinting times a bit of an exponential curve in that there are probably tens of thousands of people who can run 10.5, thousands who can run 10.2 but not even hundreds who can break 10s let alone get down to Bolt levels?

What sort of name is Gout Gout?

Presumably it runs in the family.

Yeah, the gap between 10.2 and sub-10 is absolutely massive.

Mahow will have the intricacies of his technique down by 2028 and will let us know. Might even be coaching him by then.

Perhaps he's banking on a French take on his name – Gout Gout = flavour flavour (well, taste taste, strictly, but they use 'gout' on crisp packets so it's good enough for me).

When do athletes start getting tested for PEDs? Can you just load every inner city 12 year old with HGH and hope for the best?

Where were we discussing Gout Gout previously? I see he's been at it again.

My suspicions were right. Bolt ran 20.58 when he was 15 in the 200m.
His time of 20.04 seconds surpassed the longstanding record of Peter Norman, set at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. The teenager also clocked a faster time than Bolt's best at that age back in 2003.

:harold:

Alright he’s 16 now but whatever. Gout Gout.

Yeah, I'm in the room with this now. 20.04 is a ludicrous time for a 16 year old.

For reference, that would've landed him 6th at the Paris Olympics.

Dunno if it's part of that story, but on the beeb version his best time was heavily wind-assisted, like 3.9m/s or something, for what that's worth.

And the record he's just broken is presumably some white guy from 50 years ago, so, you know, there's that too.

If that's not on purpose, lol. He's the white man in the famous black power fist podium photo.

Not intentional. How would I know who the white guy was? I barely know the black guys off the top of my head. Looking it up I didn't, although I would probably recognise the names.

He's back and getting close to Usain.

Under 10 seconds (albeit wind assisted)
