I'd top myself before 9, utterly grim.
Gorged like a king on the weekend, though must focus more now with the countdown to holiday on.
Sounds like shitting the bed is a real risk with that.
Not done it yet
You don't need a poncy diet to shit yourself.
Down to 12st 3lbs, so just over 3 stone off since the start of November. That'll do now.

Good going. I've flatlined at 13st (6'2'') with the knee issues having prevented demotivated me a bit. On the plus side my calorie awareness is keeping me there without feeling like I'm ever making sacrifices. I've got 12 weeks to go until anticipated full mobility, where I'll look to drop a stone and then replace it with upper body muscle mass over the remainder of the year.

I don't see one of these.
The weekend before last I had one of my periodic moments of introspection and realised that I was gaining too much weight. Despite running regularly (not as much as a few months ago, mind) my diet is absolutely shit and I'm pushing 14 stone. Too much pizza, chips, burgers and so forth.
Time to get back down under 13 again.
About ten days in and I've lost 5lbs, which is really good. I've been strict with myself to get some momentum, although having done so I will have a treat this weekend when I go out for a dinner of several courses accompanied by several pints.
Food I'm eating:
BREAKFAST: Porridge (with semi-skimmed milk and some of that zero calorie sweetener shit).
LUNCH: Tortilla wrap with chicken, lettuce, tomato.
DINNER: 3-4 from sweet potato, broccoli, cauliflour, lean chicken/meat, beans, mushrooms, eggs. Cooked in low calorie oil.
If I think I'm starving in between, snack is 1-2 rice cakes or a tin of sardines.
I actually feel great - better mood and sleeping well. Maybe it's something to do with blood sugar levels being less all over the place.
I will keep you updated on my progress, as I'm sure you'll be riveted.

Okay, merge time.
After losing a few pounds then putting it back on since August, I feel like I've turned a corner now in terms of my dedication. I've been to the gym 3 times in the last 5 days, and eaten very well. On the days I haven't been to the gym I've gone on long walks in the evenings.
A week ago I was 14 Stone 10. My goal is around 12 and a half.

Weighed in at 95kg this morning, which I was pleasantly surprised about. I'd plateaued throughout most of January, but recently I've hit the gym harder again and that's made a big difference.
-23kg since June now. :)

This seems as good a place as any to ask this, anyone know anything about bikes?
Current one is twenty years old and has been mostly taken over by my dad (cheeky fucker even trimmed the seat stem to use a spacer because it was 'cutting him in half') so I think it's time for a new one. Anyone have any idea what I'd be looking to spend for something half decent for mostly road riding plus a little offroading if I fancy it?

Cross are the best of both worlds.
Things you need:
Padded pants and good ones at that
Leather fingerless gloves
Cycling socks
Water bottle
Possible rack mounted bag
Things you don't need:
Clip in shoes
Things you'll never, ever need:
Lycra.
Go second hand you can pick up a very decent one around £200. Services unless you do it yourself are about £100.

The peripheral stuff isn't an issue, spent years riding every day. Cross sounds like a good place to start though, is suspension still as pointless as it used to be for everyday stuff?

I think it is. Unless you're a serious off roader. Get a cross and go from there. I hired a bike with front suspension on holiday and it was ok just weighed a lot. Couldn't do mega miles on it.
I got a really good (as far as I can tell) hybrid bike from Halfords for around £250. If you can pop in there sometime they have helpful staff.
I've got none of that stuff that Magic lists after from a water bottle but I'm far from a diehard cyclist.

Try find a decent local cycling shop, rather than buying from some shitty brand like Halfords. I've got a Specialized Allez which is a nice road bike. Cost about £300 I think but it's super light and nice to ride.
Check out the Help To Ride scheme - you can get a tasty discount through it and loads of employers are part of it.

I think we do that at work, you end up not paying the vat or something right?
I imagine whatever I get will be a step up from my 20 year old Saracen.

Yeah, I think that's what it discounts. Can be used for accessories too, so if you need a new lock/helmet just whack it on there.
Had a homeless guy try and key/knife his way through my bike lock once. Tbf as a homeless guy it's more understandable.
