Caught a bit of that and my first thought was evolutions will be dead before they've started if the highest upgrade you can initially make to a card is to raise it to 80 Overall.

I'd guess it's locked by season or something? So S1 = up to 80, S2 = up to 84 etc. They will probably only worth it if you pack Mbappe etc., rather than trying to get Tom Heaton to be Buffon's regen

There are requirements that have to be met before you can evolve a player so they're not going to let you evolve anything but shitters until we're well into the game cycle. An 80 on launch is borderline unusable, even worse if it takes 2/3 weeks to get them there as it's time barred.

If I am reading it right you can take someone like Mainoo from a 62 to 78 in 3 games and then get him into the 80 with the next evo.

Very tempted to pick up a Series S with the game bundled in. Still running my ancient Xbox One which takes an age to load anything and sounds like a jet at take-off.

What's the gameplay like so far? No doubt they'll patch it a few weeks in anyway...

Have seen a lot of people say the playstyles are really impactful and a great addition but that finesse/trivelas are broken (again), defending is very hard (always is at the start while people learn) and keepers are shit (they look embarrassingly bad).

Evolutions are getting raved about though.

Pretty much what Danny said - it's very much last year's game but with a bit of a twist, rather than anything radical. Lots of QoL changes too. I'm enjoying, and I think if you liked previous versions you will.

I really think the Evo stuff could be cool, especially if you support a team who don't get many specials. You can build more a team that is specific to you.

Not a bad start - in my first pack (a bog standard Silver Pack, no less), earned for doing some menial objective for chemistry, I've packed an IF - 80 Taylor from the MLS. Looks like a great early game card.

Went through a ton of Squad Battles yesterday to work on the Evolutions players and get up to speed with the game. I was able to get up to Gold 2 and in my tradeable rewards this morning I've packed Sandro Tonali (96k) and a bloody Hero card, Diego Milito (65k). I debated keeping Milito but the funds will be really helpful and I can always buy him back if I fancy trying him out. I've got a good chunk of coins to work through some of the player SBCs now. :drool:

That Modric is tradeable too - not sure what to do with him yet. I've also got van Dijk AND Varane untradeable in the club, the former is an absolute beast at the back.

I've got a similar amount of pack luck - not many specials but a load of top golds (Rashford, Van Dijk, Benz, Ronaldo etc.). Currently working towards Blanc as I really liked his card in the previous games.

Playing FIFA for the first time in years. What methods are best for generating a decent amount of coins. I’ve found a niche little trading method that’s got me around 50,000 in coins over the last week or so but it’s very labour intensive. Are SBCs actually worth doing? I’m a bit out of the loop on Ultimate Team strategy these days.

- SBC solution trading - buying players who are listed on Futbin solutions and selling at a markup
- Chem style trading - buying popular players with good chem styles and selling at a markup
- Fodder investment
- Icon flipping

Enjoying this edition overall, on PS5 for the first time and shelling out for the game rather than just EA accessing during TOTS for the first time since 2021.

Feel pretty shit at the game mind, went 7-13 in Champs, which might be my worst ever weekend. But I’m trying not to obsess too much on this one.

Popped this together pretty quickly. Founder EVO Havertz was a bit of a star at CAM for me for a while, added Cunha during my Weekend League run and now Odegaard with some of the rewards having finished off his SBCs.

Thinking of doing the Box to Box EVO on Llorente, he looks pretty savage with the upgrades.

There was a "leak" for evos today that saw a bunch of CAM's spike. Sold Cherki as he was up at 9k but held onto the rest I have as they had moved a bit but not a lot.

I should have sold my Diallo's though. He was up at 6k. I got greedy. Though I know for him the coins are there.

I'm personally really enjoying it. Taking it easy, playing with Fulham players (using most of my Evos on them). I did play Champs this weekend and it was very sweaty so I might just limit that this year and stick to the Fulham boys.

With regards to your guesses:

For the regular weekly stuff its been about the same. Some of the evos get a bit wild but others are as you would expect

The two very good ones out for centurions are 40 each over about 4 weeks.

The last promo ones were sub 20 iirc, over a few weeks.

4 min half SBs have made the evos and objectives grind so much more bearable.

Combining objectives with evos is nice and easy, and can happily score a few in a couple of mins then let the cpu play out the game while I work. Dead controllers no longer mattering in SB is great too.

The grind is all SBs now tbf.

No level 40 Cunha? Hwang is also a really good choice for the sharpshooter Evo, can get him up to an 86 I think.

I took Cunha and used him up top this weekend. He was good but definitely feels better suited as a CAM than a striker. I have an untradeable Son so Hwang as an Evo is also tempting for me, especially as Fulham have no-one suitable.

Bamba was extinct a few days ago as he was a prime option for that Sharpshooter evo - managed to nab him for 550 coins the other day. He looks like he'll be incredible fully evolved.

That new CB evo is perfect for Issa Diop to go round again too.

In the interested of making the game enjoyable. Im playing with inverted fullbacks and offensively, it is fantastic. In previous FIFAs, they never really worked. They ended up running into the LF and RF areas but on this game. They sit very close to the lone CDM. It allows the two players in CM to go forward past the lone ST.

If you lose the ball, you are fucked though and are open to counter attacks. Ive played the full-backs on conservative interceptions in the hope they sprint back to their positions, quick time.

Packed Marcos Llorente from an 84+ Player Pack. All of a sudden I'm torn - do I use him for the Box to Box evo, or stick with the plan of throwing 150k at Pajaziti, the Fulham bronze I've evo'd up to an 84?

Finished Pirlo off as well so he's in the team along with the newly upgraded 93 Modric. Feels like an end-game style midfield already!

I think part of the reason I'm enjoying it more this year is I've come in with the mindset of not having to do everything. I'm picking and choosing weekends to enter Champs, I'll give it a rest if I'm not feeling it. I didn't even end up doing an objective card (Bowen) because I didn't want to cram in the games to finish him off.

They've even had those daily cup competitions in friendlies running through the promos - I haven't bothered with a single one yet as I don't fancy facing the try-hards.

Yeah, that's exactly the attitude I want to approach this year with. As my nephew point out, everyone ends up with just as good players as each other come July so there really is little point grinding the shit out of things.

Hopefully I only play for stuff I actually want and only do the SBC's that at least offer a faint whiff of value.

Where does one find the evolution stuff and why are my objectives insistent on me having stuff to claim when I can't find what? Wasn't there supposed to be a claim all button.

Evos are under "Club" but are also a high level menu option under where you hold L2.

There is a claim all button, sort of. You can clam all for an objective.

So if you complete Madisson but dont claim any of it you can L3 that group the claim them all for that, but not like "All Seasonal"

I would recommend getting the King loans. Rattling through Madisson and doing Neville so you can do the triple threat objectives.

Been evolving my Fulham players - unfortunately this week's offerings don't really fit any Fulham players but the squad is looking good so far. Just need to pick up the 86 IF Robinson for left-back, and get a goalie evolution for Leno (or use VDS as a past player).

For 71 depth teams if you switch back and forth across the back it should eventually open up a massive amount of space on one side. Not much to do about cut back rats though.

This is probably the worst fifa ive played for auto AI. It is shocking. Ive got my opponents Van Dijk pressing my central defenders. There isnt any space at all. The worst thing is, i win a tackle and then my opponent just instantly wins it back as they can recover within a blink of an eye
