For my playstyle, Trailblazers Kane should be mega for me. I like big Strikers with excellent passing but he just isnt it. Some cards have secret stats. Gold Haaland makes some crazy runs against the defenders. Its like he has a playstyle called "tries to beat the offside trap". He can't pass though.

As for my opponent, they seem to be all over the pitch at once, have acres of space and are impossible to get the ball from. It's like I'm playing a different version of the same game.

Best way to get numbers up is either triggering runs short/long and also Player Lock runs to get into spaces outside of the AI pathing

Against human left stick dribbling with no pace button being held is often enough to wriggle enough space.

The AI fall for the bait less often, especially on legendary. So its mostly about moving the ball across the box until a space opens up.

That's the cup finally done. Don't get the benefit of my super team in it so was quite pleased to close it out with three wins tonight. Feels like it's made me a better player over the course of the week, albeit at the cost of several burst blood vessels. I think I had about two easy games from however many I've played to get the 10 wins. Everyone else was either disgusting at left stick dribbling (why isn't this just dribbling?), pressing, countering, or all three combined.

If it helps, Gullit is good but he's going to be behind the power curve within weeks. Cards with mid 80s for everything are ten a penny these days, compared to when Gullit was first in the game, albeit he does have good playstyles.

First foray into weekend league and it's the playoffs.

Game 1 - Lost 5-4

Gutted to lose this one as we were ahead for most of it but he brought on a 99 loan game Haaland who absolutely destroyed me. I've no idea how you defend against him, my players just bounce off him and if I try and show him onto his right foot it seems to make little difference.

Game 2 - Lost 3-1

Never in this one and 3-1 was a fair reflection.

Game 3 - Lost 4-2

2-0 up at half time and with a host of chances wasted he changed to move his team up the pitch in the second half and we couldn't cope with it.

0-3 after three games and while we should have won two of them this is a bit brutal. With a team like this in previous versions I'd have got 6 wins comfortably, are shit people just not playing weekend league any more?

Not sure what happened here, he wasn't actively trying to give me the win I don't think but I scored a goal where he moved his keeper in a really retarded manner after about 20 minutes and he just quit.

After responding like Gareth Southgate in game 3 I noticed my strikers were a bit isolated in this one so upped the depth and asked one to drop back. Worked a treat and we had space and passing options all over the shop.

Really struggled to defend against this chap, made adjustments to contain his wingers but to no avail.

I'd assumed at 2-5 elo I'd get an easier game, how wrong I was. :D Key takeaway from this one was I simply cannot cope with a team that presses me with a high line. It should leave loads of space behind but somehow my opponent simultaneously manages to press the shit out of me and have enough back to take care of any attacks I might get the chance to make and when the latter happens I get so fucked on the counter as he has the ball with 6 players ahead of him to choose from.

Think I'll try the last two games tomorrow as playing in shit connection when 6pm content rolls round will be arse. I wasn't expecting to qualify so I guess two wins from 8 (while clearly objectively dogshit) is not that bad. On the whole I enjoyed the games, but I think the hardest thing about this game is there's absolutely no indication as to what I should be doing differently to be better, which now I think about it is unlike any other game I've ever played.

Just finished off Weekend League qualifying.

Game 9 - Lost 4-3

Going into this at 2-6 I was hoping for someone with no hands, instead I got a player with a team as good as mine and with a red Mbappe up top. I'd decided before this game to move to tele cam from co-op to hopefully help with dribbling and I felt it made a difference. We came back from 2-0 and 3-2 down but just didn't have enough in the tank to get over the line. How do I run a player who has qualified for weekend league multiple times this close but am now 2-7 myself?

Game 10 - Lost 2-1

One of those annoyingly good defenders who we only managed to break down once, he scored his two goals from corners, where I'm still fumbling to select Gullit as the ball sails into the net.

2-8 overall. I think my worst ever stab at qualifying.

Time of qualifying also makes a big difference.

Unless things have changed since I played last, the only people qualifying on weekends are those like yourself, looking to dip a toe in, or those who have finished their 20 games and want to get next weeks qualifying done. I guarantee if you try again on say, Thursday, you'll have a much easier time.

WL also tends to open your eyes to what is the meta and what isn't. Did every single team have the same say left back that you dont have? Did they all use a similar method to score goals? As an example, in FIFA 19, I thought I was doing alright, then I went into WL and found out that the green timed finesse finishes from anywhere inside 20 yards would fly in. I was very underprepared for this and got slapped about. Very much opened my eyes to it going forward though.

Alaba fits into the LB one and then Peps Legacy for a slightly downgraded version of the TOTW one. However, Shawberto Carlos also goes into them. Going to delay as long as possible.

Cheers Fox. I'll give it another go on Thursday then. The switch to tele cam does seem to have made a huge difference, I find it much easier to dribble more effectively and open up passing options. Principle problems I have are as follows though.

Defending dribblers
Dealing with the high press. I get that I have a numerical advantage with the keeper and that if I go wider I have more space to work in, but I'm fucked if I can get any of these things to deal with a high pressing shitmuncher.
Corners. I lose 90% of headers I contest and concede far too many goals as a result. Admittedly I've been too feckless to Google how to deal with this. One for the to do list.

Despite the above I'm storming up the Division Rivals rankings and am now two wins off Division 6 and genuinely enjoying it. As a testament to the latter I've played 114 games since I unlocked Mbappe.

So to make the game interesting again. Ive been grinding my Wolves Evo team over the past several weeks and this is where it is at now. I can get 11 wins in WL with the team at best.



My favourite player so far is Bellegarde with intercept+ at 5'8. He gets around the midfield really well. Everyone else is just OK. I have yet to really test out Ait Nouri with Pep's Lecacy, I may push him into midfield at some point.

Just had a delightful game in rivals while trying to evo Jobe Bellingham. Playing a guy who is dominating me but has only scored once as we head to half time. We finally launch a counter from one of his million corners in first half injury time and the ball lands in the box at the feet of 63 bronze Jobe. He turns and lashes one into the net with his two star weak foot. Guy makes me sit through all the half time cut scenes and gives it the full length pause three times as we resume. He finally kicks off, we win the ball and Mbappe breaks through and lashes one into the net. I take my turn to pause it and he quits immediately. :cool:

Lots of choice now, but it makes you realise how bad Winter Wildcards was as a promo as very little of it actually improves this team, which IIRC I spent about two weeks building.

Back on the 'main' account and I've been going through the skills moves trying to pick off the low hanging fruit and I can't believe some of the stuff hidden amongst the hard 4 and 5 star moves. Discovered the change direction by pushing back on the right stick twice and my mind is blown. The level of the guides on this game is generally awful, like I've not even heard of momentum being discussed and it clearly exists, by which I don't mean DDA or anything like that but more that if you're chaining skill moves and passes together quickly I swear blind your players become better, with passes faster and crisper.

Ball roll + driven pass is a big combo. Ball rolls generally "reset" player movement and allow for near-perfect control. Ball roll + scoop turn is also tidy.

The change direction by pressing back you mention is a bit easy to read, but can be good to combine with a skill cancel. The version with a long-press on the right-stick in the opposite direction is a better move I think.

All i do is throw it up to him in a 4141 formation. He either heads it down to one of the CMs who make runs off him or he holds it up and brings others into play. He is surprisingly agile and he has a small burst away from defenders with a finisher. Only thing that lets him down is the shot power and aggression. I should probably use the power shot which he has.

Back on WL qualifying, this time on the no FIFA point account and it's another disaster. 0-4 after four games.

First I played yesterday was a close loss, first today was against a guy who was an incredible defender, third was in awful delay and I just go into the fourth and see I'm up against someone with a red PotM Mbappe, at 0-3 form. 2-0 down after 5 minutes and it's my first quit on this account.

The last I saw of FIFA, the strain of every mode being competitive was taking its toll on people. They even put objectives behind friendlies so you couldn't even escape to there most times.

If you want to, like Yev might have, play the game without using the meta, then tough. You lose(or lose more often).

Agree with you on the fire and ice cup RD, on the first day I won 4 of my 5 games on the ice tournament so no idea what happened there. Every other mode is full of people who, for me at least, are genuinely competent at the game as a minimum and they all play in the same way - press you like fuck and then cut inside from the wings.

My team on the no FP account is pretty dogshit Fox, but other than the rush you get from completing ludicrous SBC's I prefer every other aspect of it, particularly the grind.

Back on attempting to qualify for weekend league and the latest thing I've realised is never play in shit connectivity. I always pass more than my opponents even when I get humped and it just does not work when the connection is shit. Anyway, first three games down:

Game 1 - 3-1 win.

Nice this one. Opponent went 1-0 up but a silly red card for him put us back in it and we romped to a 3-1 win.

Game 2 2-6 Loss

We went 2-0 up fairly early on but he was clearly the better player and as soon as he switched to the high press that was it. No time on the ball, no space and no passing options. I simply do not know how to deal with this and it's clearly the single biggest point of failure in my attempts to qualify.

Game 3 - 4-7 Loss

Took a 2-0 lead again but this time it felt very much deserved, however a switch to high press by my opponent and a suspicion of him handing his controller to a mate and it was game over again.

Really should have won this one, clean through with Dembele but from an angle in the 89th minute, I thought he'd bring his keeper out and he didn't. He goes down the other end and scores.

Much better player, his team had acres of space and when I did get the ball couldn't get close to getting through.

Much better player again and the dream is over once more.

Yeah, I've kept it first owner for the time being as I want all resources going into getting a TOTY. I have Butragueono as an alternative to Auba, but I felt I was getting bullied with two midgets up front. Interestingly just watching Nep and it looks as though match making is borked, consistent with my complaints. He's talking about weekend league itself, but assume the same principles would apply to qualifying. From the two attempts I've had it my 'form' seems to make little difference in who I draw.

Right, plan for the shit account is to save anything 84+ (and 83+x20), with everything 83x10 and under opened on a daily basis. My club is stacked with high rated golds (have 15 89+ cards) so any and all dupes go into the exchange tab until we get to the full team + HM in packs where everything gets opened and we pick an SBC to do.

Hoping to have about 100+ packs saved that fit the above description by the time HM's comes round. Think I'm on about 60 odd now.

It really is a long grind. I packed TOTY Jude last year. Can i do it again with 50 packs?

It’s unlikely but you never know. I’ve been keeping a keen eye on the pack odds in store to try and marry those against what I’m holding and for comparison the chances of packing a TOTY while attackers were in packs was less than 1% from an 85+ x7. Now it’ll be better than once the full team are in packs but there’s genuinely no amount of packs that guarantees anything.

I opened thousands in 2022 and I got 14 TOTY’s but not a single midfielder or attacker in that. Nick28t opened over 2,000 in FIFA23 and got nothing. A mate of my nephew (who barely played the game) opened an 81+ double from a single bronze card and out came Messi.

I was thinking to myself how they actually structure these promos. I'm assuming they have something like a proportional # of each card which can be active in the game at one time (like only 10,000 TOTY Mbappe) and then you have to think how they structure the handouts in regards to packs. It says it's a flat percent chance, but like you say it feels like there's an easier shot earlier in the promo for some reason, even though proportionally there are more packs are being opened. I wonder if that then goes back to the # active cards at that point.

Similarly I think they rotate through slots in things like Icon SBCs with a chance for different players from the pool.

Would be super interesting to find out but it's likely impossible to know unless someone spills the beans, and then they'll get lawyered to death.

Pulled the above together, which is rares by category broken down. It'll need updating for the 12th player (well, at least the Woman's one) and the HM. Some observations:

Once the 12th player and HM's are in there might not be that many 89 players left, which will make the exchange and higher rated player SBC squads quite hard to do.
If you want to pack one the EPL is definitely the way to go, but chances are you're going to get a keeper or Bright.
La Liga looks best for fodder, but good luck packing one of the midfielders or forwards.

No. via Fut.GG you can add your current evo cards. The trick currently is to not claim players at certain levels, so you can throw them into the next evo. I currently have Bruno Jordao CM card, that is at level 3 of Growth Spurt 2. 75-79-85-85-63-82 are his stats. I now cant see, this card anywhere on fut.cc or futbin, futwiz, etc.

Should be able to add to that tomorrow with the SBC upgrade refreshes but may need to open a few to do so. What I also have in the yeet locker are the following golds and specials cards:

There were some difficult conversations, Peter Schmeichel took it particularly hard given he was in the team last week, but they all know that it's the right decision and want to play a part in generating a further 542 rare and 1,284 common golds for the PROJECT and they really had no argument left when I explained that with recycling that equated to 134 Premium League Upgrade Packs and 201 2 Rare player packs.

Oh and the only thing left to decide is what packs to focus on, current ponderings:

League SBC's have to be the focus where possible, at least until such time where my brain can no longer cope with shoe horning 11 different clubs into each squad. Pound for pound the pack weight of the Premium League upgrades has historically been the worst going. I genuinely think it's something like 1 in a thousand/0.1% odds. There are more rares this year, but (as they've done with every other pack) they'll just make the odds worse to compensate for what looks like a better deal.

The Rare Gold Provisions pack in store is worth keeping an eye on. 55k coins for 55 players, which includes Lib players, so pack a couple of those and you're pushing the average cost of rares down to the 900 coin each mark. The streamers seem to think Rare Gold cards won't boom and Lib cards will come down, but given how so much is untradeable and the sheer amout of players that are going to be yeeted into SBC's I'm not convinced.

Still not sure what leagues I'll focus on when it does come to doing the Premium upgrade packs. The odds are so shit that brute forcing it with sheer volume doesn't help much, you just have to be lucky, so I might spread it about a bit this year. Maybe 35% Prem, 35% La Liga, 20% Ligue 1 and 10% MLS. The Honourable Mentions may help to decide which way to go, but the odds of getting the better ones of those are also dogshit.

2 Player Rare Gold Upgrades vs. 1 Rare League upgrades will yet again be a dilemma. The former gives you Lib cards which could be big, more golds to create the premium packs from and a shot at Ronaldo (lol), but the league packs always feel like the ones I should be doing.

I have 400k coins on hand, plus a tradeable standard Messi and Salah. Have held on to both in the hope they spike when they're out of packs (if Salah indeed is through getting an HM). I'd normally stock up on rare golds at this point to have a WARCHEST of the fuckers at the ready, but if I'm going to focus on League SBC's where possible I think I'd rather keep the coins on hand for now. 400k could be burnt through pretty easily to keep things going.

Oh and all this made me realise what I'd like to do next year if I'm in it from the start. Evo team up until TOTY - I'll just pick a random club, save all packs of the quality in the list above, yeet everything else into random roulette wheel SBC's in the hope of packing a monster and then burn through everything I've saved for TOTY and use that haul for the 2nd half of the game cycle with guest appearances from the Evo's I've grown attached to.

I have just over 100 packs, but about 10% are bronze and silver.. I haven't opened packs over the past month so every pack in the objectives is being opened over the next few days.

Because I'm a degenerate I've been watching some streamers open packs and it really seems they've got you to a method of essentially unlimited packs as long as you have a decent amount saved.

Yeah, if you avoid player SBC's and chuck everything into the new exchange ones it's basically an unlimited grind. There's a chance you'll end the week with nothing, a pretty big chance I'd say, but that's only worth thinking about when you're drinking from a brown paper bag and scouring bins a week on Friday.

Right, done for the night and fuck me, the pack weight is atrocious.

Kept all of my decent packs, but was doing the following grind with coins and submitting the odd high rated gold (I already had) to keep things going.

Obviously no TOTY packed, but that wasn't really the issue. The problem was that even 85+ cards were hard to pack and anything over 87 non-existant. Think I got two 87 golds, Lauren James In form (also 87) and a couple of 85's in five hours grinding. Only positive was did about 9 TOTW player picks, but had to dip into my stockpile of 85s even to do that.

Hopefully the better saved packs will change things tomorrow night.

Ive got 300 players in my club. Ive got 100+ packs with 25% of them being 82+ guarantees. The rest are randon gold packs

I saw RTFM complaining that the % chance of a TOTY is now lower, with 22 potential players, than it was during any of the single defender, midfielder, or attacker stages.

Yeah, think this will be the best grind if you're solely focusing on getting a TOTY:

Mixed League SBC's
Premium League SBC's
2 Player Gold Updgrade Pack/League Upgrade
Premium League SBC

Do the 82 x 20, 85 x3 and 80+ gold player picks until they're all gone (86+ as well if you want but it's horrific value unless it's been juiced). 81s to 85s into the TOTW pack if you need in forms and 85s and higher into the exchange.

EDIT: That's what I'll be doing tonight and saving the bigger packs I have until tomorrow now when hopefully the icons come, if they don't I'm cracking them anyway.
